The campsite is in a lovely location, great views, with a choice of hardstanding and grass pitches. They are all well spaced apart. A couple of them may need ramps; 8 & 9 looked to slope when we walked past. Pitch 7 was fine. Each pitch has its own large picnic table and bench, and its own washing line. A great touch, when you’ve need to use the washer and/or dryer available at a small cost.
The facilities are all very clean, tidy and well looked after. There’s a washing up area if needed, and a small room stocked with things for sale like pegs, batteries (a great idea), marshmallows for toasting etc.
You can hire a fire pit, barbeque and logs, enough to give a great night under the stars.
Any questions are dealt with by the wardens on site who are very helpful and friendly.
While it’s not the cheapest, it’s not everywhere you find donkeys; give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Found this lovely site on Pitch-up. Views from the site are fabulous, and it is quiet and relaxing. We had a walk to see the donkeys, and fed a fatball to the robin. Will definitely return.
Only downside is the approach road, which we thought could do with some improvement, at least when towing a touring caravan.
No other issues :-)

This was a fantastic find, great communication on day of arrival, facilities (including wifi) top notch. Pitch 7 was directly in the path of the wind, but sitting on top of a hill!
Our only negative was the light over the block came up to our pitch and we wanted to take advantage of the "dark skies" but I understand about health and safety!
Would definitely come again, they had lodges that looked amazing too.

What a little gem this campsite is. From the minute we arrived we had a warm welcome and the personal touch. Every need has been considered and for a small site the facilities are unrivalled. Walks from the doorstep but a stunning view if you want to relax by your pitch. Large pitches, each with their own bench and washing line and some hardstanding and a large grass section. We'll be back.

What can I say what a gem of a campsite. Location was great close to the mountains and close to the sea and beaches. Facilities were clean and well looked after. The pitches were good sizes and not over crowded. Plenty of space for the kids to roam free and enjoy themselves, it was good that toy boxes were provided to keep the kids busy. The park wardens were great and a credit to the site, super helpful and very friendly. We will definitely be coming back again!!! Thanks for a great week away in the Lake District.

We had a great two night stay at Parkgate. Slight issue with the pitch as our campervan got stuck in the mud due to intense rain and the grass pitch. Bruce was able to pull us out and let us pitch up right next to the facilities block. Sandy and Bruce were absolute stars and lovely people! Would stay again in a heartbeat.
