This was a top end property which could have benefited from minor improvements- replace scratched bowls/ plates and worn out kitchen knives. Otherwise it was an excellent choice but with one caveat. Unfortunately the let next door was for eight and for the first two days of our stay we were subjected to screaming , loud singing and shouting from a party of young women. On the Sunday night I had to ask them to keep the noise down at 11.30 p.m. We really liked our accommodation but would be concerned that we might have a repeat experience.

Location easy to get to Rhosneiger and pleasant surroundings on the estate. Not all facilities up and running though ( shop not open yet). Kitchen space plentiful but few wine glasses - only 3. Lots of champagne flutes though. Living room comfy but could do with a rug to make it feel more lived in. Outside furniture poor quality with paint flaked off the chairs and table.

Problem with noise in the back bedroom, caused by wind coming up the flue from the wood burner downstairs, kept me awake on the first night. The housekeeper responded promptly the next day and it didn’t occur again - luckily the wind wasn’t present on the rest of the stay.

I was surprised that there was little in the way of basics such as salt, pepper, coffee milk…. Tea cake biscuits and crisps were provided however.

This was our first visit to The Forge and it lived up to expectations. It was immaculate throughout, with a well equipped kitchen and great hot tub. It was spacious with a high spec finish. Comfortable beds and two excellent en-suites. The location is also really good especially for The Oyster Catcher which is our favourite place. Great to have two car parking spaces and our dog loved it too. I would definitely recommend and we will be returning next year.
