Stayed here several times through previous letting agencies and back again after a few months break and was very disappointed with our arrival experience, last time we stayed we at least had a packet of biscuits but more importantly milk in the fridge. This time, nothing, so before unpacking had to go to the high street to get some milk before we could have a cup of coffee. Nothing major I know but we have never stayed anywhere where basic milk was not in the fridge, could have avoided this comment for less than a pound.

Would you return?
unsure

Unfortunately, our stay at 52 Napoleons Landing was disappointing. We experienced a leaking shower, an inadequate alternative shower, contractors having to attend on two occasions to try to rectify this during our holiday, and scaffolding which significantly obstructed the balcony view. The scaffolding had not been disclosed before arrival, despite the view being a major feature of the property.

We also had cleanliness concerns and found pyjamas belonging to a previous guest screwed up at the bottom of the wardrobe, which suggested the property had not been properly checked between guests. We were very disappointed by the owner's response to these concerns especially when paying a significant sum to stay here for a week.

Island Holiday Homes did ultimately provide a nominal refund and apologised for the issues, which we appreciate. However, given the number of problems we experienced and the way some of our concerns were addressed, we did not consider this adequate. We would therefore be unlikely to choose to stay here again, despite the fantastic location.

Would you return?
Unlikely

We really enjoyed our stay at Napoleon's Landing.
The location was excellent and the apartment was very well appointed, quiet and comfortable.
We had some minor issues. many of the windows were difficult or impossible to open. As we were there during very hot weather this was a problem, A fan would have helped greatly too.
A dustpan and brush and extra mugs would also have come in handy.
Minor problems in an otherwise excellent stay.

The apartment was in a great location for accessing coastline walks and beaches. Private parking was a bonus, but with quite a tight entrance and parking bay.
The apartment was very spacious with 2 balconies for enjoying the views along the coast and out to sea. There was almost too much equipment in the kitchen, with cupboards full of crockery and glassware that you wouldn't use. The bedrooms and bathrooms were large and very clean.
The town of Sandown needs some regeneration, whilst new beach bars and cafes are now available some of the historic buildings have fallen in to disrepair and are quite unsightly.

Would you return?
No, but only because we like to try other destinations

Island Holidays were extremely efficient and helpful. Great location and the under cover garage a godsend. Windows to the two balconies need some tlc as drafty with broken seals and ill fitting. excellent position. Unfortunately not the best of weather for our stay or the balcony would have been great!! A comfortable, characterful place to stay and the property was well fitted out with all we needed. We would use again.

Would you return?
Yes, in a heartbeat.

Have stayed here several times, always booking over a year in advance to secure the dates we wanted. We didn't book for 2022 as our usual rate over the last 3 or 4 yrs of about £600pw shot up to well over £1.2k... at 1st l thought it was the covid rip off effect and I'm no mug. However then all the rates disappeared..... Apparently the owner is moving back in so very sad and jealous at the same time.
So as a foot note...
The windows needed a good clean, l actually cleaned a couple to get a clearer view.
The crockery and cutlery not the best and rusting oven trays in cupboard that should be in the bin.
The 2 sofas have sagged so badly now that we sat on the cushions to add support or else you sink in and struggle to get out.
The ensuite shower hose is covered in what looks like black mold/rust and it needs a new shower head.
So if the owner is thinking of ever reletting these things definitely need addressing.
We always wanted a beautiful view in a peaceful setting with a comfortable bed and you definitely get that.

52 Napoleons Landing is an excellent place to stay. There we’re four adults staying ,we found the flat to be spacious well laid out and having both a bathroom and en-suite suited us perfectly. It was well equipped (home from home) ,spotlessly clean and wonderful views of Sandown beach. It was a good base to enjoy all the sights and locations the island had to offer and we would definately stay again.

Second time staying at this apartment.
It’s in a beautiful position with large balcony to sit and watch/listen to the sea. Well equipped with everything you could want for your stay.
Spotlessly clean.

Pros: Nice flat, great location, superb view, friendly helpful letting agency, comfortable furniture, full of techie gizmos

Cons: Let down by little things which got really irritating by the end of our week. The biggest bugbear is the cutlery, what is there is sub standard (forks bent at the slightest pressure), and there isn't enough - no tablespoons for serving for example. The selection of saucepans and other utensils seemed random (some of them didn't seem to have been cleaned since last season).

A little bit of thought and a modest investment in a canteen of stainless steel cutlery and a coordinated set of saucepans and frying pans and my review would have been much more positive.

Very bright and airy apartment in a fabulous location with wonderful views. There were some issues with the water pressure , it was so poor, the shower/bath in the family bathroom was totally unusable. Four adults sharing an ensuite shower was not ideal. The beds were very comfortable, although given the size of the master bedroom a king size bed would have been more appropriate. It was well equipped, although some of the kitchen utensils would benefit from an upgrade. We would certainly stay again if the water pressure issues were resolved.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at 52 Napoleons. It is a great shame that we were unaware there was an issue with the water pressure as we would normally send a tradesman to try and resolve this. Further to your review, we have organised a tradesman to visit the property and hopefully resolve this for the future. We would look forward to welcoming you back to the isle of wight in the future. Best Wishes Island Holiday Homes

The location is excellent although Sandown itself is a tad run down .
We were disappointed to arrive to find
1) previous occupants toiletries in the vanity unit
2) a bed as though someone had sat on it.
3) dusty wardrobe shelves
4) no spare toilet rolls
5) no tea towels or dishwasher tablets .
A phone call to the agency on the Monday soon resolved these.
I would also recommend a small welcome pack of milk, loaf of bread , biscuits is usual nowadays in our experience of upmarket lettings.

Thank you for your review. It is a shame that we did not know about the cleaning issues, as we could have resolved this at the same time as the other issues. We can confirm that there should have been teatowels & dishwasher tablets supplied and can only appologise for this. your comments have been forwarded on to the housekeeper to ensure that this does not happen again. Regarding the welcome pack we have passed your recommendation on to the owner. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards Island Holiday Homes
