I was on a special break with my daughter Julia and her husband Sean as I have mobility problems I had not been home for two years. We visited Ventnor where I was born and Bonchurch where we had lived. Met my cousins. And toured the Island. Lavender Cotttage was perfect cosy, clean comfortable and well maintained.thank you.

I’ve stayed at many properties, and this one is good to look at as it is so old, but the comfort is not so good. The house is ideal as being so close to the manor. We stayed here for my daughter’s wedding, with my sister's husband upstairs and my family downstairs, The problems I had were the side gate open, and the shower not easy to use. The shower head small water goes on to window may be a curtain up, The beds are cricked, single not comfortable bedding cheap, need nice large towels, no welcome pack milk bread butter etc as there no shops near? There is tea coffee sugar The garden lovely but no relaxing chairs. Blind up at the back door window, The ducks are great. This house is clean just needs a few bits upgraded to make it more comfortable. Also, need to cover the water drain by the chair's table my grandson fell in it a few times you can get a plastic covering to go around. Some fly screens over windows upstairs to stop mosquitoes, as we were bitten.

We stayed at the cottage between Christmas and new year 2024 and were completely charmed by it. Its a lovely place, full of history and quirks which we loved.
We visit the IOW as often as we can and haven't stayed here before but will stay again.
The location is perfect, close to everything and being on site at Arreton Barns means that you have immediate access to the restaurant and bar (The Dairymans Daughter) and you also have the White Lion a few steps away which is lovely.
We brought our 2 dogs with us for the first time and this cottage is PERFECT for dogs. It has a lovely big enclosed garden which they loved and it was so easy to just let them in to the garden and not worry about them getting out,
One thing I would say is that the owners of the cottage ask you to not let dogs in to the bedrooms,which is easy enough with the downstairs bedrooms as they have doors, but it is quite hard to keep them out of the upstairs bedroom when there isn't a stair gate so that was quite stressful at times.
We travelled with our son and his girlfriend (adults) and our 10 year old daughter and there was plenty of space, the two bedrooms downstairs are comfortable and situated so that they both have privacy from each other.
The bedroom upstairs is lovely.
The only comments I would make about the cottage is that it doesn't have a freezer or freezer compartment so I am not sure how this would work if you stayed for longer than a few days and in the summer particularly. Also, the way the lounge is laid out with the beam in the middle of the room means that it can be quite tight in the main room when you are all in there. It would probably benefit from a smaller / folding table and chairs (there were a lot of dining chairs) and also a (larger) smart TV. The shower was very hit and miss as well.
The WIFI in the cottage was excellent.
It had everything we needed - Towels, bedding, tea towels, cleaning products etc. and everything was immaculately clean.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

This was a last minuet booking booking with two dogs and four adults. The location was excellent next door to the pub Dairymans Daughter who are very friendly and do excellent food with the bonus of 10% off if you are staying in Lavender cottage , but do tell them when going to the bar !!. There are Arreton Barns around the pub which are small individual units selling sweets , blown glass object,doggie things , leather goods and much much more . As for dog walks couldnt have been better .... the downs within walking distance , fields , lanes all secure for off lead runs !! our two had the time of their lives. Position central to the Island and tourist places all within half an hour. Would recommend , it has an enclosed back garden and designated parking space. Compact and bijou.

My husband and I stayed a week in this cottage. We had a lovely time. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The garden was perfect for both us and our dog, a springer spaniel. It might be a little tight for space if five people stayed, though. There was a lovely walk straight from the cottage door, which went up to a nature reserve. On our last night we had a meal in the pub at the corner of the road (can’t remember its name), which was delicious. I would recommend both the cottage and the pub.

Very good communication and friendly welcome. We stayed for 6 nights, couldn't have asked for a better place. Two pubs within yards of cottage, both with good food...no noise. Lovely farm shop a mile down the road. Ideal location to explore the Island. Would recommend it for a peaceful relaxing break.

Cottage is in an excellent location and was spotlessly clean with good amenities. I would love to stay here again but as mentioned in previous reviews the mattresses are poor quality and the worst I have ever slept on. I had hoped that as others had mentioned the beds that they would have been replaced but sadly this was not the case which is a shame as we liked everything else

Lavender Cottage is ideally situated in the centre of the island, making it easy to explore. It’s very well equipped & comfortable. We loved having the toilet off the master bedroom upstairs, saving night time journeys downstairs! Also loved the other toilet being separate to the bathroom.
The car park at the rear is locked in the evening, but there’s plenty of parking in Pump Lane at the front of the house, so it was no problem.
To be honest, I think the photos & description of the cottage don’t do it justice - it’s really lovely!
We had breakfast in The Dairyman’s Daughter next door in Arreton Barns, which was a great start to every day.
There’s a well-stocked farm shop 20m away so you don’t need to bring much food from home.

We really enjoyed our trip to the Island, the cottage was comfortable, clean and warm and enabled us to travel around the lsland visiting different place. Would absolutely recommend this cottage as a place to stay.

We found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped. However although it is equipped for 5 people there was only the 2 of us and I think it would feel a bit cramped with 5 adults. Maybe a family of 4 would be fine. It was in a lovely location and the on site shops especially the farm shop were a bonus.There are 2 pubs locally but due to staff shortage one only did lunch and the other stopped serving meals at 4pm.We found it very convenient for touring the island and you can drive to most places in 20 minutes. Also lots of footpaths and beautiful walks. On arrival we found milk in the fridge and tea ,coffee etc plus some lovely local fudge ! Overall a lovely stay with no major problems.

No heater in third bedroom. Beds not comfortable. Only five mugs so always having to wash these up.
Daughter was bitten in the upstairs bedroom.
No cushions on the settees but this may be Covid related?
Expensive to rent.

this is a lovely cottage ideally placed for easy access to the whole island.
the local pub is great for food and just down the road you have the hare and hounds one way and the fighting cocks the other

Central to everything on the island and on the edge of the grounds of Arreton Barns, Lavender Cottage has everything you could possibly need, The large garden was perfect as we took our spaniel. There are stunning walks right on the doorstep. It was great for us with the dog as The Dairymans Daughter pub is dog friendly (as is almost anywhere on the island).
The cottage can sleep five which would be fine in good weather when you are out and about most of the day but a little tight if you plan on spending a lot of time inside (but why would you with so much to do on your doorstep?).
We loved our stay and would definitely stay at Lavender Cottage next time we visit.
