This beautiful bothy style cottage sleeps two and is located on the shores of Cleggan Bay, close to the fantastic Aughrus Peninsula. The house has uninterrupted views across Cleggan bay over to Cleggan Head and a clear evening guarantees a spectacular sunset. Just a short walk from the village, you can take a trip out to Inishbofin for the day or enjoy a pint and crab salad in Olivers while watching the local fishermen unloading their catch.

We had a wonderful 1 week holiday at the Bothy with beautiful views of Cleggan bay. What can i say/ We were very pleased with its warmth/cosiness and proximity to Olivers pub/restaurant in Cleggan. Ferry trip from pier to Inisbofin was a treat. Sharks and dolphins something you don't see every day.

Na Beanna Beola/Twelve Bens always a feast for the eye.

Christina our host was warm and friendly with lots of helpful advice.

Location wise, excellent. A few minutes walk to the village of cleggan. The bothy is cosy & warm - with all the modern amenities. Fabulous setting & beautiful views. Really enjoyed our Christmas break there. Would definitely return again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything we required was in the cottage. The sofa was not particularly comfortable but the bed was extremely cozy. My wife found the container for holding shower items ie shampoo etc was too high to reach. Generally a good experience.

This place suited us beautifully. We only made breakfast but facilities were good for a full cooking experience. Just right for a couple and well designed to make best use of the space. A short walk to delightful pub/restaurant and local shop. We needed nothing more. Sunshine was an unexpected bonus

Our stay at The Bothy was fabulous. Spotlessly clean with all needs catered for. Within walking distance of Cleggan. Situated in a beautiful scenic area. Would (and will) return in a heartbeat.

We booked The Bothy for a week. The Bothy is a great place to stay. Although compact it had everything, modern appliances, comfort, great bathroom, fabulous views. It was spotlessly clean and comforably warm. The location was excellent, a short walk to the village of Cleggan, a short drive to the beaches and situated on the road to Clifden.

The Bothy is a marvel, beautiful inside and out,
Everything you could want is provided and more, its extremely comfortable and meticulously decorated, its a credit to Pete and Christina the owners who have a place close by, they are a really lovely couple who couldent be more friendly and helpful, I will certainly be back again, and it will be my go to place whenever I am in Connemara in the future...



The Bothy was a perfect place to end our month stay in Ireland.

My wife and I had been in Ireland for over three weeks and this was the best possible place to wrap up our amazing journey. The Bothy provided two tired travelers the perfect ending of our trip. The hosts were amazing and were there for us for whatever was required without being intrusive. They gave us privacy when needed as well as being inclusive and sharing the warmth of their community.

We immediately felt at home in the Bothy. The authentic village of Cleggan is just a short walk away. Here we appreciated great company, food and drinks and being part of a vibrant local scene. We enjoyed a generous serving of mussels at Oliver’s, a perfect vantage to watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch. Newmans offered traditional music that kept our feet tapping. However, you might want to take a nap before heading out as the music usually doesn’t start before 10. We found Cleggan a perfect launch for many regional attractions including Kylemore Abby, Connemara national park, Clifden, Roundstone and the Bog Road. We were able to take long walks right out our door that offered amazing views and close up encounters with sheep and Connemara ponies. Another highlight was an early morning swim with the locals!

Pete and Christina thought of everything you could possibly need. We throughly enjoyed the outdoor sitting area with its wonderful view of the harbor. The bed was very comfortable and the washing machine a blessing after so long on the road. Having a fully equipped kitchen was a major benefit after eating out for so long. The Bothy is light and airy, with a spa-like bathroom with a skylight and modern fixtures with good water pressure. The entire place was immaculate.

We left feelings like family and hope to host them one day in California.We wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again and hope to be able to return sometime in the future.

I spent a happy week in the bothy, you will need a car.
I recommend the walk the Cleggan Head, bring rain gear no matter how sunny it is when you start.

"The Bothy" is a new build and constructed to a high spec. All furnishings, appliances and utensils are modern and it is cosy and comfortable. There is a pre-set program on the hot water and because of the good insulation there is no need to fiddle with anything. The views from the Bothy are perfect and because we picked the ideal week, weather wise, we had beautiful sunsets every night watching the sun go down behind Inish Boffin. Cleggan village is a short walk and high-viz jackets, if required, are provided. We happened to forget our beach towels this year but there happened to be two provided which we were greatful for. It really was a comfortable, relaxing stay and the owners are friendly and easy to deal with. This was our second year in a row at the bothy and won't be the last.

We had a lovely time at the Bothy. It was perfect for our 5 night stay! The cottage is warm and well equipped. The village is very close with lots of walks possible and a beautiful sandy beach nearby. Even in May we had little rain so lots of chance to be outside.

I enjoyed the stay at the Bothy very much. It would have been easier if I had a car, because Cleggan is quite remote and there are only 3 busses a day. If you have a car it's an excellent starting point to hike and enjoy the magical scenery.

The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, the cottage is clean, cozy, fully outfitted, and decorated with a personal touch, there is a beautiful view, it is a great location for exploring the region, and it is walking distance to a cool village with amazing seafood and live music.

Perfect property for two and situated within walking distance of Cleggan Village.It's a new property so everything is new and modern. Tastefully furnished. Very good/modern plumbing system so hot water always available. Property is situated far enough away from the main house and you have privacy. There is a nice raised area to sit out in which we did on the sunny evenings to watch the sun go down. Great views of the harbour, the bay and surrounding area from the windows which all add to the experience. Will definitely stay again.

The Bothy is a wonderful cottage that has been refurbished to the highest standard. It has fantastic sea views and is only a short walk from the village. Highly recommended.
