Known as “Oyster House” this holiday home has amazing views over the sheltered Ballinakill Bay. It is just metres away from the sea and surrounded by the Connemara Hills. It is located on the quiet Dawros peninsula just 5 mins from the village of Letterfrack and 10 from Tullycross. Letterfrack is home to the Connemara National Park with Kylemore Abbey just a further 5 mins away. There are a number of great food options in both Letterfrack and Tullycross – we highly recommend a pint and the seafood in Paddy Coynes, Tullycross. You are also just a short journey from numerous beaches and the living town of Clifden is just 25 minutes away.

The house is also located beside a working oyster farm so talk about fresh seafood! Not sure you can get fresher!

Beautiful location

We (a couple) stayed a week in Oyster House during August and were very comfortable. My first impression when we entered was of a light, spacious accommodation that was well insulated and cosy. The views at the front are lovely.
We had all we needed at the cottage to self cater very happily. The property would however benefit from a few easy to do additions such as a coat rack near the door for hanging wet items and perhaps a shoe rack, and a more substantial door mat. On first arrival I also had to clean dirt off nearly all light switches as they were greasy and smeared and missed by the otherwise pretty good clean. I really appreciated the very clean windows however.
The location was convenient for exploring the area, and Letterfrack well supplied with convenience stores and cafes. The staff at the Oyster Farm next door were really friendly. We didn't find this farm and its workings obtrusive although a generator does operate 24/7 so it wasn't quite the perfectly peaceful location we'd imagined.
Overall we were very happy at the cottage and I would recommend it.

We had an idyllic stay in this beautiful, remote location. We absolutely loved it and will be returning very soon.

The views from Oyster House are some of the best we have ever experienced. Very impressive. And, the house itself, is a good size, light and airy with just about everything you could ever need for your stay. David, our host, was lovely and very easy to get in touch with and was very helpful. We loved our stay there and would highly recommend.

We had a tough journey there, arriving at 3.00 in the morning - it would have been nice if there had been a small welcome pack - just some milk for a cup of tea and some bread for toast when we got up. Also, the house is very close to the working oyster farm, which is fine, but it can get busy with the farm tours. Some screening between the tours and the cottage would improve the privacy.

We loved our stay at the Oyster Cottage! The place is in stunning condition, with lots of kitchen utensils and other convenient items, as well as super modern comfort throughout.

The views / setting the property backs onto is beyond stunning. It’s lovely to sit in the silence at the back patio and enjoy the views of the sea and mountains at your doorstep.

(Only notes - we visited over a holiday weekend, and so are not sure whether the operating oyster fan on site would cause noise during the weekdays. Also, take care on the driveway entrance, as it is more suited to trucks than low-bottom cars.!)

Overall, we adored the place, and it will always be special to us as we got engaged there during our stay! So we will be back!!
