Bun Penny Apartment is a stunning, contemporary apartment on the seafront at Herne Bay. You might wonder about the name of the apartment – the Bun Penny was the name of a former public house which was on the site of the apartment block. Whilst the pub was well known to locals, it became known nationwide after David Walliams and Matt Lucas of Little Britain fame filmed a number of ‘Edwardian Lady’ sketches in the pub.
Herne Bay is a fantastic coastal town, originally built by the Victorians for the London day trippers, hence the gorgeous Victorian architecture of the Captain’s houses on the seafront. Today it still retains some of the old-fashioned seaside charm of amusement arcades, mini golf and the pier rides which are so popular with children, but it also has some lovely restaurants and cafes, boutique shops and the popular Kings Hall entertainment building featuring many great theatrical and musical acts. You won’t struggle to find things to do in Herne Bay.
Should you want to travel further afield, there is a magical walk along the promenade to the iconic Reculver Towers, or in the other direction is the vibrant fishing town of Whitstable well know for its oysters and lovely arts and music vibe.
