Welcome to Flint House, a truly special holiday home in the sought-after location of Kingsdown. This coastal home has been furnished to a very high standard with a homely and coastal feel to match its location. The vaulted ceilings and open plan living areas add to the sense of space for families and friends to enjoy. French doors lead into a pretty walled garden providing a sunny sheltered place to relax. Some rooms have sea views looking out towards St Margaret's Bay and the White Cliffs and the beach is only a few hundred yards away. You can bring your four-legged friend with you too.

Upstairs are two Kingsize bedrooms, both ensuite and the snug on the ground floor can be converted into a private bedroom with a single sofa bed and a ground floor shower room.
Located on a pebble road, which leads directly to the beach, Flint House lies amongst a pretty row of cottages. The house would suit couples, families or a group of friends looking for a seaside getaway. There are two pubs very close by, The Zetland Arms and The Rising Sun and the pretty village of Kingsdown is only a short walk away.

The vibrant town of Deal is approximately two miles away. For those wishing to cycle or walk, there is a beautiful coastal cycle and walking path that runs along the entire beach-front and takes you to Walmer Castle, quiet beaches and into the heart of Deal.

All in all rather disappointing

Our party of two senior couples arrived separately 10 minutes apart in 2 cars. On first arrival both pairs thought "This can't be it". Overgrown garden, broken garden gate, "tradesmen's" entrance, gloomy. But we had our entry guidance from Keepers Cottages so persisted. Through the heavy combination entrance to the courtyard, ducking the wet overhanging vegetation.
Once inside we felt much more positive - the post-industrial design is easy on the eye and there seemed plenty of space.
But we soon found practical difficulties. The stair bannister is a length of angled steel, difficult to grip and, we are sure, would be of little help if one stumbled. The beds in the 2 bedrooms were comfortable but otherwise the furniture was inadequate - not enough storage or hanging space. The big sliding doors to the wash areas were too heavy to open and close. The extensive use of industrial-type materials led, accompanied by inadequate lighting, led to a depressing feel.
Downstairs the kitchen was spacious and well equipped but, again, gloomy. We had to use a (provided) torch to use the microwave.
The big lounge is the brightest room and we spent much time there. But the soft seating was insufficient for 4 adults unless in cinema formation.
The property claims sea-views. The only such view is from the rear window of one bedroom. From the other the view was limited to a very extensive worn plastic "tent" covering a building site. Down stairs any chance of a sea view was defeated by vegetation overgrowth. (Keepers told us it is meant to be wild!)
In our view the house did not live up to its billing.
We have used Keepers a number of times before, and will again. But this was, as agreed by all in our party, disappointing

We arrived after a busy days work and travelling down from London at around 6pm … it was our Wedding Anniversary and as it was pouring with rain we wanted to unpack , put the tv on and have a take away meal . I put the tv on but no joy , I looked in the booklet on the table which had all the information in but nothing about the tv . I immediately phoned Keepers Cottages and spoke to a girl who said “it was fine last week” … she talked me through but still nothing .. she said she would get someone out and would phone me back . I waited an hour , no call back ! I called again , no reply . I messaged and she phoned back …. at this stage I felt she was totally condescending telling me it was a “smart tv “ and I should log into my mobile phone to use it !!! This is absolutely ridiculous . By now we were tired and frustrated . My husband went out to get food and I waited another half hour before Camilla phoned and said she would send her Nephew out … he came half an hour later when we were eating . He was very pleasant , but after 15 minutes or so he told us that we can only get certain Chanel’s on free view . The tv is terrible with no normal signal . We could hardly watch anything on free view and what we could get we couldn’t hear as the sound is muzzy !! Suffice to say our first night was ruined!!!!!!
I went to pot a glass of wine and there were no wine glasses , the couple of really cheap glasses in the cupboard were cracked !
We had to go out and buy glasses.
The cotton mats on the dining table were soiled !!
The duvet in the small room was spilt open .
We ended up having a lovely weekend because Kingsdown is such a lovely place to be and the place I know well as I used to live there . BUT our first initial day was ruined and I was so upset as I felt talked down to !!! I am an intelligent business woman who knows how to work a tv !!! This needs sorting and there needs to be clear details in your information book .
The house is really overpriced and needs a lot of upgrading …. The window handles are loose and falling off . The tap in the downstairs bathroom is constantly running . The garden is overgrown.
I would appreciate hearing back from you as your comments
Many thanks
Jacqueline Lawrence

We loved staying at this beautiful place. Moments from the beach, private and quiet but with sea views and close to pubs. Large table for family dining. Comfortable lounge area in case of rain. Lots of bathrooms and a kitchen with a great stove. The house surrounds a calm courtyard, perfect for sitting with morning coffee. We’ll definitely be back.

Flint House is very near the sea in Kingsdown. The property details refer to sea views but they do not mention traffic noise. The house is on a corner where the road goes round a bend annd then up or down a hill. There is traffic noise from the cars accelerating up the hill or braking to come down the hill.
The house has a fabulous sitting room however the kitchen is dark and dingy.
The garden is pretty but not the sort you would spend any time in - its dark, shady and the garden furniture is substandard.
The style of the house is arty but generally dark. I would prefer a coastal house to be bright and coastal in theme.

The house has a lovely feel to it, it’s situated in a great location only a few hundred yards from the beach. The interior is a mix of modern and old, it’s simple tasteful decor is very appealing. The beds are comfortable and it has well appointed bathrooms in both rooms with an extra shower room on the ground floor.

The lane down from the main road has a very large pothole at the top which could do with some attention and the garden is slightly neglected, which on first impressions isn’t ideal. (We did some weeding, whilst we were there)!
These were minor things, and did not hinder our enjoyment. Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend Flint House.

Flint House is one of the nicest houses I’ve stayed in a while. The house is beautifully decorated, with a well thought out layout and considerate little details.
The location is great, with 3 pubs within a 4 minute walk and the beach a 1 minute walk down a gravel road.
The dedicated parking outside was a welcome touch, however anyone with a low sports car may want to beware of the potholes around the property.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay, with very attentive staff ready to solve any issues we had. Would definitely stay again.

We're so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Flint House! This quaint coastal path to the property can be privy to pot holes, but we hope that doesn't take away from the charm of having a property on the beachfront in Kingsdown. We're so glad you enjoyed the location overall, and loved the property as much as we do!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at flint house! The house is gorgeous and super warm and comfortable. We loved the style and design of the house and thought it made it extra special. Perfect location as well with a fab pub nearby and views of the beach.

It was fully stocked with everything needed which was really helpful especially for a long weekend when you don’t want to bring along things like hand soaps, washing up liquid, etc.

There were also thoughtful touches from Keepers Cottages on arrival like some local crisps and biscuits and a small carton of milk for making tea and some juice.

We would love to come back and stay again in future! Thank you!

I loved Flint House. It is in a wonderful location and the design of the house is very special and thoughtfully done. It was cosy whatever the weather, and the wood burners were so nice to curl up in front of. And having a sea view was a lvoely bonus.

The water was hot, the beds and furniture comfortable, the seating and crockery generously provided. My only minor gripe and it is the only one is with all the equipment in the kichen cupboards there was very little space to store the food! But everthing else was just as I would want.

I loved that a Christmas tree was provided and I felt so at home in Flint House and everyone who visited loved it too.

I honestly can't wait to go back
