We arrived with our guide dog puppy, and our delivery van of online shopping to find no message, no keys, no emergency contacts, owners not there to give us keys and explain parking etc as promised and no key press code.
Amazingly after several phone calls to Keepers Cottages office we got hold of someone. They had no idea but said they would try to contact the owners.
After 15 minutes they called to tell us where to find a key and apologise that the person meeting us had left early. No idea why they didn’t bother to contact us by phone / text / email or leave a note or inform the keepers cottage office.

Once inside there were no oven shelves, tea towels, oven gloves, scourer, knives (but 16 forks!!!!) or water glasses. No property information, no local guides to know where to park or walk the dog or instructions on how to use white goods. After 2 days we spotted a key for the internal front door hidden in lots of pots. Up to that point we risked being locked out as the Yale lock catch was sticky.

On leaving a notice said to leave cardboard recycling in the utility room, tricky as there wasn’t one!!

Still no one there to collect the key… by chance a housekeeper was able to take it.

It is a beautiful setting and we enjoyed meeting up with friends but a lot more communication would have oiled the works considerably. Will avoid in future.

A wonderful cottage in a blissful, quiet rural location near Sandwich. Beautifully set up and impeccably clean. Rarely available, it felt homely and comfortable and the lovely owners, who live next door, were extremely welcoming, unintrusively. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would be delighted to do so again.
(Several booking issues but these were resolved satisfactorily.)

We loved everything about this cottage. It was extremely comfortable with everything we could possibly need and beautifully and imaginatively furnished. It actually felt like home from the minute we walked in. Although we had some rain we were able to sit outside and watch the moorhens on the pond and the dawn chorus was fabulous. There are many good walks from the front door and a short walk up to the village which has a good pub and many useful shops. Highly recommended.
