Old Chelsea is a charming circa 1700 cottage in a pretty, pedestrianised lane lined with pots and flowering plants. Ideally located in the heart of the historic conservation area of Deal, the cottage is a short stroll to both the long beach, pier and promenade and the high street with its variety of boutique shops and cafes.

The cottage has been lovingly restored by the owners to create a stylish and comfortable holiday home. The cosy sitting room has a comfy sofa and armchair, a Smart TV and wood burner. The pretty bay window creates a window seat and dining area, and the open plan kitchen is perfect for sociable meal preparation.

Outside is a cute courtyard to relax in with your morning coffee or evening glass of wine, after enjoying a lovely day in this popular and vibrant coastal town.

Cute little cottage with a few downsides

We liked our stay in the Old Chelsea in Deal, but regretted that we couldn’t really eat together as a family because there were only two rather uncomfortable chairs and one small table that wasn’t really suitable as a dining table. We didn’t sit outside either because the cushions were rather dirty and not very inviting and added to that the tiny outside space was the only place to leave the rubbish bins. So we didn’t want to sit there surrounded by our own rubbish. The cottage is cute but the ground floor living space was quite dark and lacked good lighting. The cottage has little space and is too cold to dry clothes or wet towels so we definitely needed the laundry dryer. Another downside was that the bathroom was on the ground floor and not on the same floor as the bedrooms. We hadn’t been aware of that when we booked the cottage.

Following my stay at Old Chelsea I was very disappointed. I came to stay here as part of my week long celebrations for my birthday and wedding. On reflection the hot water wasn’t resolved following the plumber’s visit this was highly disappointing and the water remained tepid. This spoiled my overall stay and caused me a high level of stress and sadness during my stay. I felt that my wishes to be moved or refund were not heard or listened to by the team.
I found Old Chelsea did not fully represent the online pictures which was why I chose this cottage to celebrate my birthday and for my wedding photos. The outside space was advertised as a cute place to relax . However , the outside space was dirty with cigarette butts and storage for the bins and mop & bucket . It wasn’t a space I certainly wanted to spent time in. In fact I cleaned this area up to make it more attractive to sit out there.
There are light bulbs out, the double plug socket only one side works, overall the cottage needs a good clean. The pillows on stripping the beds were disgusting yellow and dirty which is not acceptable as a paying guest.
I was happy to be leaving here following my stay and will not be using Keepers Cottage in the future.
Kind Regards
Tracey Shaw

Overall a pleasant stay, the cottage was a great base for exploring the area.
Quaint but a bit cluttered, be warned if you are over 6 foot tall this may not be the accommodation for you.
Courtyard disappointing, broken lights, bins and recycling.
Comfy bed in master, rediculously cheap beer in the Ship (20m away) tasty fish and chips on Middle St.

Compact cottage tucked away in a lovely location nice and quiet close to the old part of Deal which is the best part to stay. All clean and a small kitchen attached to the lounge.Upstairs 2 small bedrooms with a decent comfortable double bed.The house remained cool due to its build in the hot weather and is also dog friendly.A great place to stop if visiting the town.

We escaped just the two of us with our little dog, perfect location, excellent restaurants The Rose being a particular favourite and the gorgeous little winebar/shop opposite the church. This was our first visit to Deal, we will definitely come back, but as we have older children we would probably need a slightly larger property but as a space for two it was perfect and we had a very, very lovely stay - thank you !
