The Old Cottage is a charming holiday home tucked away in a quiet road yet just a short stroll into the buzzing town of Deal and the lovely wide, open promenade and beach front.

The hidden secret of this lovely cottage is the roof terrace which is accessed either via a spiral staircase from the courtyard or from the main bedroom. Perfect for morning coffee, afternoon tea, early evening drinks and al fresco suppers. The cottage has a sociable open plan ground floor, and upstairs are two bedrooms.

The coastal towns of Walmer and Kingsdown are an easy walk, and in the other direction the historic town of Sandwich is well worth a visit.

I stayed at the Old Cottage on a week that was a mix of typical British weather. The property is right near the beach and town, so on a sunny day when just heading to the beach or going for a walk the location would be great. However on the days its raining and you want to go explore the area, you may find this is a bit of hassle as the nearest on street parking is over 10 mins walk away or you are willing to pay for a car park and move your car during the day (almost every car park is short stay).
The property is comfortable enough, on arrival we had a nice hamper and it had all the accessories you need for cooking etc. But the photos are not up to date, it's more worn and torn than they suggest. The property description show cases the terrace area off the bedroom but it's basically an area looking over the neighbouring garages. Walls are chipped and could do with a paint and the stairs case is no way safe enough to use. So to access it you need to go through the window/small doors off the bedroom, which if you are tall might not be a good option. The BBQ was very rusty so we didn't use it. The bathroom was OK, clean enough with the usual mould stains around the shower. I brought a dog and the courtyard garden is very small which isn't adequate for a dog to use l, so if you bring a fur baby you might need to be prepared to take them round the block for loo breaks!
In all the stay was ok, however it was expensive for what it is and I have stayed in much nicer places for that price.

This was our second 2 week stay in this cottage. It is lovely cottage in the perfect location for us, being a short walk to both the sea front and the centre of Deal and the shops. The cottage is clean, spacious and private, the balcony is a definite plus on a sunny day!

There is everything in the cottage that you need for a lovely break and we will very likely return.

Keepers Cottages are very efficient and helpful and we would recommend their holiday homes in the area.

The old cottage is hidden behind a busy street in Deal. Not easy to reach by car, but you can get everywhere very quickly on foot. Whether you walk towards Walmer or into the center of Deal, it is central and quiet. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good during our stay that we used the roof terrace or seating area, but it is nice that it is there. The interior is timeless and fully equipped. Even with bad weather it is great to stay in the old cottage, and our week flew by. The only downside was parking, especially during the weekend it was a disaster to find a spot. But that's just the way it is in Deal.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Ten minutes walk to station and five minutes to the beach.

Well maintained, nice living and kitchen space, with separate utility area.

A small, pretty cottage quite near the beach in the southern part of Deal. Good points were comfortable beds and furnishings and a very nice shower room and toilet. A useful roof terrace as there was no other outdoor space to sit in.
Less good points were the lack of parking nearby - Deal is full of ‘no parking’ signs everywhere. This was quite a problem for us as walking any distance is an issue for my husband. The kitchen was fairly well equipped but there was no teapot and no cafetière. The interior is quite dark as the internal shutters and low ceiling excluded light. There’s only one toilet which is part of the shower room downstairs - a problem for those who need to visit in the night. Lastly, the television did not have a terrestrial option and we had to watch the main channels via a streaming service which was difficult to manipulate.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage very much. The location is perfect. Shops, restaurants, pubs, seaside - everything is in walking distance.
The interior of the cottage is bright and tasteful. The roof terrace is absolutely great.
