we stayed overnight in the Bhurtpore room (for a second time); the room is fantastic with its panelled walls and view over the mere. Stefan cooked us a three-course breakfast the next morning - fabulous food and so interesting to talk to him.

I stayed in Crossley Cottage with my bridal party for our recent wedding at Combermere Abbey and it was absolutely perfect. My bridesmaids and I got ready in Crossley in the morning and there was so much space for 2 hair stylists and 2 make up artists, and the whole atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. The cottage was also fully equipped for breakfast and refreshments in the morning. My husband and I also opted to stay in the cottage with our friends on the night of the wedding. Very nice place lovely, no electric at all in the kitchen, half the plug sockets didn’t work in either the living area plus bedrooms? The breakfast in the morning wasn’t the best either.
I booked the house prior to getting married for my bridesmaids. The house was spacious with great decor. The 20 people table was great and the small snug at the back was really nice to relax in especially with the double open doors to the patio. However, the kitchen was very basic and when we arrived the gas didn’t work. We then couldn’t switch it off and it remained to click the whole time. We had a private chef come in and she had to adapt what he was making for us despite having paid over £500 for this … Overall nice house but disappointed considering the price.
We had a lovely 2 night stay in the Stapleton for a wedding. The cottage was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped but would benefit from a full length mirror in the twin downstairs bedroom in my opinion. Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings
We enjoyed our stay at Empress in Combermere as we have done many times over the past thirty years. But it is slowly becoming clear that the apparent drift towards catering for weddings has come slightly at the expense of those like us who choose to come to your cottages for a slightly longer holiday break in idyllic surroundings. It’s the little touches that matter - the kitchen did not seem quite as well stocked as before and, for people on a longer break who like to relax by cooking, this has an effect. I attended a wedding at Combermere Abbey and had a wonderful stay in the Callandar Cottage. Lovely location. Very peaceful and good value for money
Thank you to the entire Combmere Abbey team. We had an amazing stay at the cottages. The location, the hospitality, the food, everything was amazing.
The smoke alarm ( we thought it was the carbon monoxide alarm)kept sounding and could not be silenced so we left the cottage Friday night returning Saturday morning to find alarm was still sounding. We eventually managed to silence it for the remainder of our stay.
House was full of wasps and ladybirds which had clearly been there for a while. We had confirmation after ringing following our arrival that the wasps had been treated but it is disappointing that we weren’t told about this before hand as one of my bridal party is severely allergic to wasps and so had to stay elsewhere which was extremely inconvenient for our plans that evening and the wedding morning. We had to spend about an hour clearing up all of the wasps but there was nothing to be done about the ladybirds (which wasn’t necessarily a problem just not too comfortable to sleep with...more
The property itself was spacious and clean. It looked tired because of things like the worn carpets etc. The kitchen was well equipped, however the breakfast offering of bread, cereal and jams were minimal and didn’t feel “luxurious” compared to the venue itself and the cost of the stay. On arrival, we were informed that the rooms would be ready from 4pm, however at 4:15, the room still hadn’t been cleaned, yet my case had been moved to the cottage.
