A wonderful 10th anniversary stay. It was great to re-live the magic of the Salamanca suite and reminisce about our wedding day 10 years ago. Stephan was a wonderful host and instantly made us feel at home. We will most certainly be back!
The Bhurtpore is set in some lovely spacious grounds and the view over the lake is quite stunning. We enjoyed hare spotting in the fields and the relaxed quiet of the beautiful surrounding with ancient oaks, an apple and pear tree maze, willow features and a walled garden. The venue is fabulous. The panelled room is one of two rooms in the North wing of the main house. It's quite exceptional. On this occasion we were the only occupants. All the features are first class. We had use of the historic upstairs lounge and the beautiful main living room. Stefan was a wealthy of information about the ...more
This is my third visit to Combermere Abbey and I really enjoyed my stay once again. The cottages are comfortable, beautifully furnished and well equipped. I would suggest that the hot water temperature is lowered as it really was scoldingly hot.
We stayed in the cottages for 3 nights during our wedding weekend. They are beautifully decorated and Malbanc cottage was very spacious. All of the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. A special mention to Rachel who was very helpful throughout the booking process and leading up to our stay. My one recommendation would be to change the WiFi in the cottages to a password protected WiFi. The email log on system meant we couldn’t connect the baby monitors to the WiFi which isn’t ideal with two young children. Other than that, everything was perfect!
Stayed many times at Combermere Abbey, chose Beckett as we had invited extended family to join us. 3 double en suite bedrooms plus large dining space absolutely ideal for larger parties. Highly Recommended
At first glance the cottage was lovely but unfortunately on closer inspection the living room floor had several bugs either dead or dying (probably around 4-5). Once we got rid of them cleanliness was fine. The cottage was cosy, very pretty and well equipped. The curtains didn’t fit the windows so I would recommend eye masks. Also the internet didn’t work at all and we had no mobile service. We checked in and out without meeting anybody. Unfortunately in the middle of the night we were woken by policemen in our bedroom. We had definitely locked our doors so are concerned about how th...more
We have been visiting Combermere since 2009 and the surrounding grounds woods are fantastic. Empress cottage was disappointing and in need of an upgrade,
Beautifully appointed cottage in a very peaceful setting, very dog friendly with lots of woodland walks.
The cottage was set in the most delightful surroundings. We were there mid week when it was utterly tranquil. Lots of lovely walks and wildlife. Would recommend for a battery recharge.
Having spent many holidays at Combemere as a child in the 90’s, I was so excited to come back and share this special place with my little girl. Did not disappoint! We had a gorgeous weekend going on adventures in the ground, and our greyhound loved snoozing in the garden and watching the hares run by. Will definitely be back.
We loved our stay at Stone Lodge. The Lodge is beautiful the calm we needed before our wedding. From the thoughtful breakfast basket to the unique outside bath, we were blown away with the property. Stunning!
The property itself was spacious and clean. It looked tired because of things like the worn carpets etc. The kitchen was well equipped, however the breakfast offering of bread, cereal and jams were minimal and didn’t feel “luxurious” compared to the venue itself and the cost of the stay. On arrival, we were informed that the rooms would be ready from 4pm, however at 4:15, the room still hadn’t been cleaned, yet my case had been moved to the cottage. The key was left in the door with my belongings inside, so anyone could’ve had access to the building and my bags. Overall, the stay did what wa...more
