The North Wing is absolutely perfect. The comfy cosy bed, incredible views over the Mere, the delightful sitting room, a bathroom that needs seen to be believed and a breakfast cooked to perfection by Blair. We also had the sharing platter for arrival and it was delicious. Stephan prepared a showcase of cured meats, pate, cheeses, salads, fruit, chutney, crackers, breadsticks…so much that we managed to have a filling lunch with it the next day! The walks are beautiful and the attention to detail is second to none.
Arriving at the Abbey is like stepping back in time !! Unfortunately for us we arrived on the Saturday when the storm was in full flow so we didnt get to explore the grounds. The staff are very professional and friendly nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be returning in better weather!!.
Malbanc was one of 4 cottages we stayed in for a group sewing retreat. It was the perfect setting to get together, wander between cottages to mingle and socialise together as well as to relax and feel completely at home. It was perfect. Thank you
Set on a wonderful estate. Accommodation was first class, everything we needed for a short break was provided. A surprise snow fall whilst we were there but the staff cleared and salted the area. Staff on site to ensure we were well catered for. Excellent location for Chester. Would recommend a visit
We stayed in Beckett cottage as part of a group booking for a sewing weekend. We used the large dining room and fantastic table to gather together - all 18 0f us - to eat together. We cooked in the well equipped kitchen and everything ran smoothly We also gathered in this great room to sew and learn new skills as a group. It was perfect. Thank you
Whilst we love the estate and this has been bringing us back for well over a decade the cottages decor & furnishings are not as good in Callander as on the photos & on previous stays - clearly with repacement mismatching furniture/decor downstairs. The cupboard with the TV does not look good at all. The cushions are tired, I could go on. We missed the fresh flowers and magazines previously available and even the biscuits were cheaper. The housekeeping team & maintenance were so friendly and helpful. We can see the focus on wedding business certainly has an impact on the wear & tear ...more
The room was booked by my daughter in law and we paid her for the room. We were disappointed that we were not allowed to check in to the room until 4pm. It would have been perfect if we could have dressed in the room instead of driving for an hour in our wedding outfits. We had a fabulous time celebrating my son’s and daughter in laws wedding, the wedding venue was lovely, the grounds were pretty and well maintained. We had a small window just after 7 pm to pop back to the room to remove the bags from the car and freshen up before the evening guests came at 7:30pm, by doing this we missed the...more
We staying in Stapleton cottage the night of our wedding. It was lovely, clean, comfy and pleasant.
Excellent cottage. Breakfast was a little limited though. Excellent facilities other than that. Thank you
We stayed in Cotton cottage for a sewing weekend and it was just the perfect place for a group of friends to get together and relax. We could not have stayed in a more perfect place. Thank you.
Stone lodge was cosy but I never realised that it was so close to the main road and we could hear traffic constantly.
Really enjoyable stay on the whole, it’s not 5 star luxury (some of the furniture is a bit dated like the sofa and carpet a bit worn etc.) but it’s a perfectly comfortable cosy cottage stay… clean, tidy and pretty much has all you need. It’s a shame they didn’t put more info about local walking routes in the area, it’s quite a remote location and people don’t always want to drive out, so would be useful especially with the dog. It was nice and relaxing, I’d recommend to a friend.
