Hanks Annexe is an amazing place to stay, the view from the balcony was stunning, very peaceful, location wise not far form the beaches and easy to get around.
Lorna was very accommodating in letting us check in earlier as well, helpful throughout the booking procedure and when we arrived too.

Last minute decision to come . Needed some space . Hosts were incredibly friendly and informative, The annexe was absolutely spotless & I’m a clean freak. Beautiful space to spend few days , like an extended luxury hotel room with amenities and a view. I have very high standards and this didn’t disappoint. It’s not as rural as I usually like but it was very peaceful. Would recommend to anyone wanting some relaxation with elements of luxury , host was very nice, welcoming . I would def recommend and return ..

We booked this short break last minute and enjoyed a lovely few days in Devon. The Annexe was in a lovely location but a car is essential and it was beautifully presented. The design and fittings of the property are of the highest quality. The swim in the pool was a bonus and was well organised. Can definitely recommend.

It was a last minute booking, I found through CoolStays and it was everything we could have wanted

Lorna greeted us and showed us to the accommodation, it was in the middle but we felt we had so much privacy, overlooking a huge field (that we could walk the dog off lead in as was fenced)

The annexe was decorated to such a high standard, everything had been thought of! There was a lot of light switches but a quick txt to Lorna had me knowing which one was for which light. The kitchen was great, the wet room and bath were designed impeccably. We Never ran out of hot water. Remember to fill bath with plenty of time as it’s SO BIG!

we bought our dog, and it was so dog friendly, he loved it, from our little fenced garden area, to the box of dog goodies and blanket for him to sit on for a cuddle on the sofa.

The pool was lovely, loved the allocated time slots so everyone in different accommodations get a private turn! Branscombe and beer beach were our favourite spots, more sandy areas on Branscombe for the dog and a lovely big still pool for him to swim

We popped into the grazing cow for breakfast on the way home and it was a great farm shop and cafe!

Thank you Lorna and co for a wonderful stay we will definitely be back

High standard accommodation and very helpful owners. People and dogs receive a warm welcome.

As might be expected from such a remote location, the views are spectacular. Having a car is essential to get out and about.

Speaking purely as a disabled person and reliant on a wheelchair, the area around the various lodges is gravel making it difficult to manoeuvre. The bed was also a little high for me. That said Hank's Annexe was stunning with all the facilities we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere. The views from the patio and swimming pool were absolutely stunning. The owner (we only met Lorna) was very welcoming as was every one else we encountered. All in all we had a wonderful time. Thank you.

We booked Hanks Annexe for our 10th wedding anniversary, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. We also booked for our dog to come along with us.

Booking was easy, and we got lots of information up front, and communication with the owners was swift. We love the app that tells you everything you need to know about the property.

Hanks Annexe itself is beautiful, and set in such a tranquil natural area. We were also the only people staying in one of the properties at Higher Wiscombe for the week we booked, so apart from Olivia who greeted us and showed us around, we didn't see anyone else which was brilliant. This also meant we could explore the heated pool, games room or 57 area around the site at our leisure.

The property is decorated to a high standard and is very well equipped, we felt completely at home. We had a great time at Hanks Annexe, and we would love to book again.

We have just spent a memorable week in South Devon staying in Hanks Annexe. Beautiful surroundings and lovely accommodation. Our only gripe being was apart from tea/coffee/small milk/biscuits there was no sign of the welcome hamper which we have enjoyed at all our previous Premier Cottages.

Communications from booking until arrival were excellent. Lorna welcomed us and gave really useful tips for our outings. The annexe is very much as described in the online marketing. It proved to be a warm, cosy and comfortable place to return to as the weather was pretty challenging at times.
Much of interest to do and see within a short drive. We are keen walkers and we did follow the paths nearby to an iron age fort. In better weather, the paths leading much further afield would have been great. Just now they are extremely muddy. We had 3 super days on the coastal path east and west of Sidmouth and Lyme Regis.
Views from the veranda were lovely and expansive. Owls hooting at night under clear skies were a highlight.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Hanks Annexe with our two little furry friends and couldn’t fault it in any way.
Perfect location - secluded enough to feel as if you are getting away from it all, far reaching views and great walks for the dogs but only a stones throw away from local attractions, restaurants and supermarkets.
The annexe itself had everything you need to escape whilst being stylishly furnished to a very high standard.
The dogs were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, with treats blankets and a crate.
Would highly recommend this to anyone and wouldn't hesitate about going back!

Thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay in Hank's Annexe. The accommodation is superb, ideal for a couple, very well appointed and comfortable with some nice features. The location is excellent for visiting numerous seaside places and the surrounding countryside is fabulous for walking. We are already looking forward to our return visit next year when we will be staying in The Thatches with family and weather permitting we shall be walking around the estate and enjoying more of what Higher Wiscombe has to offer, and even a dip in the pool.

A unique property with 4 different sized cottages alongside the owner’s home. Each with its own views. Hank’s Annex, the smallest and designed for a couple, feels private, is very well furnished, open plan and spacious, with truly lovely countryside views.
We followed Alistair and Lorna’s recommendations and ate in 3 different lovely pubs. There’s plenty of choice.
Our dog had a lovely time in the most dog friendly stay we’ve had - with dog crates, blankets, bowls provided, it made it easy.
You do need to plan on a 10 -15 minute drive to get anywhere, but that was ok for us.
Lovely stay, love hosts.

We loved our stay at Hank’s Annex and hope to return. The space is very well styled and felt much bigger than we anticipated. The bed was so comfortable too! There were walks straight from the door and lots of wildlife to enjoy. Our dog was particular fascinated with the grasshoppers and frogs in the garden! The terrace is lovely to enjoy a morning cuppa on and take in the view, as well as to enjoy later on once the bbq is on the go. It was a perfect place to unwind yet still be in striking distance of lots of towns and villages.

So I hired the entire place for my 50th, a couple of weeks ago. This was my 2nd time staying at Higher Wiscome & it just gets better & better! I previously stayed there two years ago for my brothers 50th and since then, there is a new cottage "Hank" which is stunning and really top end and the pool area has had a re-vamp and is amazing. Hanks has some really nice features in the room with the roll top bath and artwork, lovely bathroom and amazing views. The owners Lorna and Alister are super friendly and accommodating. They very kindly unpacked our Waitrose shopping. The entire place is of a very high standard in stunning surroundings. All my guests were blown away with just how nice this place is. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you are looking for a venue for a large amount of guests then look no further. We will be back again for sure. thank you so much Higher Wiscome for having us.

What can we say about Higher Wiscombe and Hanks Annexe where me and my partner stayed for 3 nights. The drive down into the valley towards the property is stunning and true to its description of being and Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. We were met by Lorna and Alistair the owners of the property who were incredibly welcoming and struck the right balance of friendly and available without being over baring. The Annexe it’s self is just beautiful and certainly has the wow factor we were looking for. The architectural design and interior were just as amazing as the countryside surrounding it. I especially loved the huge iron 4 poster bed and oversized metal tub in the bedroom. The shower was also a mainpoint of the annexes features as the attention to detail is outstanding. All the amenities were provided including some extra treats and we were comped some tickets for the local hill climb festival which was great. The pool schedule was great and allows you to have confirmed private swim time although there was probably flexibility there if needed. Everything at the property was so lovely and we had a dreamy unforgettable weekend. 5* and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a romantic or adventurous weekend or longer in the countryside. While our large group has the winery my parents had Hank annex.

It was beautiful inside and had all the amenities.

Small touches like dressing gowns just added to the luxury of the property.

I would definitely recommend this.

We had a wonderful stay in Hanks Annexe at the Higher Wiscombe farm. Lorna was a terrific host whose little touches in the annexe made the stay all the more special. If you want a slice of countryside luxury (with your dog!) then this is highly recommended.

Comprehensive online guide provided by the owners was really helpful. Owners were on site and quick to respond to any issues. Hanx annex was perfect. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the enclosed garden and field opposite. Would definitely recommend a stay here in any of the properties.

The cottage is in great condition with amazing facilities and views. It was perfect with the other properties for our company get together. The owners were helpful and unobtrusive and the wealth of information provided made organising a large gathering much easier. It was cosy in Winter but we hope to come in the warmer months next time so we can make use of the pool!

We arrived later than expected after what was a very arduous journey, but the host greeted us and gave us a home demo and made us feel very welcome. The accomadation was fantastic We had a loverly Christmas break and came away feeling revitalised.

We honestly had the nicest little break in this fabulous property in the first week of January. It has the most wonderful views and in the summer it must be lovely to have a pool to use.
Everything was done to the highest standard and we were even lucky with the weather and enjoyed a couple of days of coastal working.
Highly recommended for a couple wanting to enjoy the East Devon coast and countryside.

This was the perfect location to celebrate my 60th Birthday with family and close friends. The hosts recommended outside caterers that were familiar with the properties' facilities (Amanda) and they provided the most delicious 3-course meal for my guests on the Saturday night and cleared away too! The housekeeper Elaine was very friendly and on-hand to support any queries we had. Hanks Annexe, has been designed and decorated to the highest standards and was the perfect place for a weekend celebration.
A fabulous time was had by all and the venue certainly added to their experience!

This space is perfect for 2 people who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s beautifully decorated with a bath tub in the bed room which is a lovely touch.

These cottages have everything you need for a weekend away, from comfy beds to lovely fluffy towels and bath robes.

Plenty of great walks nearby too as the cottages are set in beautiful open space. Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic place, great hosts and dog friendly. If you love nature and a quiet place this is for you. Very close to the beach and a drive away from brilliant walks.
