Ring and Thimble bedroom. A an exceedingly comfortable 6' bed with pure linen bedding from The White Company, half tester silk drapes in a large room with two windows facing to the front and a tiny eyebrow window to the back peeping out under the thatch looking up across the field behind and the garden. Bliss!

A stunningly beautiful cottage perfectly located for exploring the far west of Cornwall. It was well equipped and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners Elizabeth and David were wonderful and a special mention for their dog Maisy, who was adorable.

We booked last minute so we paid the reduced price which is why I gave value for money a ‘4’. The exterior of the cottage Is beautiful and I admired the stonework every day. The minute we walked inside the cottage the colours, the fabric and fittings were obviously of the highest quality and well looked after. What a joy to use an Aga. This was a first for us. There was a traditional type of cooker if we preferred that. The kitchen was the best equipped one we’ve experienced to date. Quality crockery and equipment of course.

We were greeted with several fresh cut flower arrangements in the lounge: a huge professional looking one in the fireplace. We ate the freshly baked scones and homemade jams before going further. Scrumptious. There was a cute, well equipped, private outside space from the double doors as there was by the kitchen entrance. Everything outside was surrounded by a wide variety of flowers and herbs.

We appreciated luxury bathroom full of the scent of fresh sweet pea flowers in vases. The huge bath towels were accompanied by smaller towels and facecloths plus soaps etc.

More lovely flowers greeted us in the superb bedroom. We slept like babies in that enormous bed. Quality and luxury again. These owners took the greatest care over every detail. They were easily available if needed. That all feels good.

Very useful to have a good utility room too.

First view on driving up the country drive is wow what a lovely place to stay!! On entering cottage, wow, its beautiful! On meeting the hosts they are friendly, helpful and delightful couple to talk to! On meeting Maisie, the dog, and Tiny Tim, the cat we felt a real pleasure of how friendly and loving these charming pets are!!
On looking at our back private garden and eating the delicious cream tea we were given it was magical! Visiting the hosts own garden and able to walk freely around it was marvellous!. To spend a few hours sat in this wonderful garden was a joy just listening to nature and observing and of course the odd cuddle from Maisie. It is a must to spend time in this stunning garden.
The location was perfect to visit this part of Cornwall. Everything within 7 miles!! The suggestions given to us were extremely helpful. We just loved the little coves of Lamorna (super cafe), the magical cove of Penberth (my favourite) and Chapel Cove among others. The many gardens in the area stunning. Lands End, Sennen and the beautful, stunning coast towards St. Ives all just extraordinary. Of course Mousehole on a lovely sunny day passing through Newlyn for lunch.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Pasty cooked hot in the Aga watching the sunset on our last day.
We certainly recommend Boscrowan Farm soaking in the smells of the country including the cutting of the hay which is a super sight. Everything is just perfect and we hope to return before too long!!!i

Thank you for a wonderful review. We are so glad that you sat and enjoyed our gardens too when you were here. We feel we offer guests much more than a place to stay when they come. To wander outside in the fields and gardens and spot a nesting woodpecker, a young badger out exploring or the odd deer grazing in our fields, or the kingfisher by the pond can be one of those magical first sights that will always be a memory. Yes we are a longish drive down the county but now the A30 roadworks have been finally completed the theory is that you can sail down as far as....well nearly Hayle ...so almost to here. But yes, when you stay at Boscrowan there is so much more to see than you can possibly do in a week and all so close by. Delighted that you have already rebooked for next year with us - there is no greater compliment! We look forward to welcoming you back.

The Ideal Retreat!

We have been staying at Boscrowan Farm for approximately 18 years now, in Peace & Plenty, or Ring & Thimble, where either property really does feel like home from home. There is always a warm welcome from David & Elizabeth, along with Tiny Tim the cat & Maisie the chocolate Labrador who is more than happy to accompany you on walks around the farm. We cannot wait to return

It's always lovely to welcome you back and this year was even more special as one of you were celebrating your 60th birthday here - in one of your special places!!! We loved joining you in your celebrations! The main event was Sunday Lunch at The Old Coastguard Hotel in Mousehole and they did us proud! Can highly recommend!

We love coming back time and time again to Boscrowan Farm and especially the Ring & Thimble. It is a like a warm hug when you step through the door of a picture perfect thatched cottage. The cottage has everything you could possibly need to ensure you have the most luxurious stay. The bed is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, the bathroom and it's roll top bath is such a luxurious way to relax and unwind. The sofa and chairs are so comfy to sit in front of the log burner after a walk on the beach. The location is perfect, close to some beautiful areas around the coastal line. We couldn't fault the Ring & Thimble and will hopefully return again. Elizabeth is a great host and we always look forward to the homemade scones upon arrival every year!

Over the years we are many time returners to the holiday cottages at Boscrowan this Christmas we stayed in Rimg and Thimble a beautiful luxurious cottage for two We cannot find ever find a fault its just a consistently 5* cottage with everything thought of and supplied The Aga is a real bonus and the bathroom and free standing tub is second to non the enormous bed is sheer luxury!
Outside the gardens are worthy of botanical status we have true plants persons at work here! As said earlier we are many time returners for a very good reason if it’s perfection you are looking for then Boscrowan cottages are for you!

We have stayed in Ring and Thimble before but not in December. We had a fabulous 8 nights. The property is very comfortable, peaceful, cosy and warm, in fact idyllic! Hosts Elizabeth & David are very welcoming. Plenty of Christmassy things to do in the area even in changeable weather. We also enjoyed just relaxing in the cottage, wandering the Boscrowan grounds and local walks. We are returning to Boscrowan in 2024.

Ring & Thimble is the perfect hideaway for two. With its wonderful big bed with crisp white linens; generous white towels and robes; lovely roll top bath and walk in shower; Aga in the kitchen; and log burner in the living room, the hosts offer true luxury. Couple that with the personal touches from the hosts including fresh flowers and cream tea with homemade scones and jam on arrival, we always feel welcome back to this perfectly formed, cosy cottage. It offers a bolthole from the frenetic pace of city life, one which we return to each year with true pleasure.

Thank you for your kind review and it was lovely to see you again for your annual pilgrimage to West Cornwall armed with camera and tripod, making good use of the Aga to dry out after any wet sessions on the beaches looking for that perfect shot! It's lovely for us when guests return year after year.

This property and it's hosts are the best ever! Any communications are handled in a timely manner and the hosts, Elizabeth and David are always so friendly. The property is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in, hence our repeat visits there. You could not pick a better location. It is within walking distance of Penzance and easy access to public transportation if needed. The cottage has everything you could ever need. The cleanliness is 5 star!! Loved our stay and cannot wait to return.

We enjoyed a week in Ring & Thimble - a cottage where attention to detail is amazing. Elizabeth goes to great lengths to ensure that you feel like a very welcome guest - a delicious cream tea on arrival, home made scones, choice of homemade jams & clotted cream, a jar of homemade marmalade in the kitchen, an abundance of fresh garden flower arrangements through the cottage, beautiful soft furnishings, an enormous comfortable bed made up with quality bed linen…the list goes on and on! We had such a relaxing, comfortable week and yet we were so well located for easy access to numerous favourite places in south west Cornwall. This cottage is a hidden gem with a unique, very special ambiance - somewhere delightful to come back to after a day exploring the beauty of the surrounding area.

The moment we opened the door we were thrilled.
A beautiful, very well-maintained and quiet property in full bloom. Elisabeth welcomed us immediately and we entered our very spacious holiday home. The kitchen was perfectly equipped, the living and dining room cosy and the terrace inviting. Elisabeth had placed vases of flowers from the garden throughout the house. On the first floor, a spacious bedroom and bathroom awaited us. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, towels soft and fresh. We received emails with tips in advance, so we shopped at the two farms mentioned and only a little at the supermarket. We bought fresh eggs directly from Elisabeth. The location is ideal for many excursions to picturesque harbour towns. We went on several walks along the coast. We usually parked in one of the many National Trust car parks and took the bus back to the car park after the walk. Ideally, we would have stayed for a two-week period, but after one week we left wistfully, we felt so much at home with Mr. and Mrs. Harris. Not to forget, their dog Maisie visited us often and made us laugh, a very lovable dog. We highly recommend the cottage and look forward to seeing you again. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again. All the best Gernot and Andrea / Frankfurt Germany

The Ring and Thimble holiday cottage at Boscrowan Farm has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The bed was large and very comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, the kitchen was well stocked and the Aga ensured that each day we came home to a warm house. Outside space is private, providing a good spot for reading. It is a very quiet and peaceful location and the owners encouraged us to explore other areas of the farm so we enjoyed visiting the chickens and the horses. The location is perfect for exploring the west of Cornwall. As well as the local villages of Mousehole, St Just and St Ives, there are some excellent gardens nearby, Trewidden and Trewaingnton are both worth a visit and of course the lovely St Michaels Mount.
We enjoyed our stay at the Ring and Thimble. We were made to feel very welcome and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

This was not our first stay at Boscrowan Farm and most definitely won’t be our last. David & Elizabeth Harris make you feel so welcome during your stay. You will also receive special attention from Tiny Tim the Cat & Maisie the Labrador who likes nothing more than accompanying you on walks around the 24 Acre farm. Boscrowan Farm is located within easy reach of all the main attractions in West Cornwall. Whether you stay in Ring & Thimble or Peace & Plenty, you most definitely won’t be disappointed.

Staying here always exceeds our expectations and the standard is set continuously high.

Much effort is put into making your stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible, from fresh flowers in every room to properly fresh scones (baked on day of arrival) with homemade jam and clotted cream. Delicious.

The cottage has everything you could possibly want and things you didn't think you needed! Lovely and clean everywhere, crisp white linen and soft fluffy towels. The bathroom is huge, with freestanding bath for long, relaxing baths and a fab powerful shower - take your choice. The bedroom is a delight with a super king size half tester bed, so very comfortable for snoozing.

Downstairs has a cosy woodburner in the lounge area should you need it and a separate full size kitchen with the choice of an aga or electric oven. There is a spacious utility room with equipped with a washing machine and freezer.

The cottages at Boscrowan are perfectly located for the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall, eateries and the Cornish art scene for those in search of a hit of culture.

It's all just perfect.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Ring and Thimble. The cottage is 5 star and is among the best accommodation we have stayed in. Elizabeth, David and Maisie (the dog) and Tim (the cat) are delightful and welcoming. We wouldn’t change a thing. The Aga was great for boiling the kettle, heating a scone, cooking a croissant or two or drying the washing next to! Lovely big comfy bed, shower and a fab bath to treat yourself to a soak after a long walk. (Penzance to Marazion with a stop at the Godolphin Hotel is not to be missed and can recommend the fish and chips, sunset and St Michael’s Mount). In the cottage beautiful curtains, blinds and upholstery are evident throughout and make it feel so cosy, homely and relaxing. The fresh flowers were a joy and much admired and appreciated. We made use of the coal fire burner and enjoyed the warmth and glow. Just a short leisurely stroll into Penzance which is buzzing with lots of shops and lively people. We will definitely return. Loved it!

Thank you for you lovely review. A stay in January can be just as enjoyable as at any other time of year in our warm and cosy cottages. There are pluses too - empty beaches, deserted footpaths, no need to book ahead mostly at restaurants and lovely special sunny days feel a bonus!

Ring & Thimble was perfect for my husband and me (62.) We stayed five nights. Ate breakfast everyday and dinner three of five days in the cottage as it was comfortable and picturesque. Was grateful for the washer and dryer. Local grocery a quick walk and Penzance a 20-25 minute walk. We rented a car and were able to explore all the places we had hoped. Owners encourage guests to explore their farm which was an added bonus for this city couple.

Last year, we stayed at Peace and Plenty but we thought that this year we thought we would try the Ring and Thimble.
We preferred the layout in the Ring and Thimble with the single larger bedroom.
Everything was wonderful from the initial welcome through to departure.
We certainly look forward to coming back some time in the future.

Ring and Thimble cottage is simply a delight. It offers generous and extremely comfortable accommodation for two people. We arrived to find a delicious, homemade cream tea waiting for us and beautiful flowers through out the extremely well kept house. Boscrowan is a super base from which to explore this part of Cornwall. We visited St Michael’s mount, the Levant tin mine (excellent tour) and St Ives (train ride along Carbis bay is special) amongst other things, and we spent several afternoons in the water at Sennen Cove, lovely waves!! Our only issue is that our week went by so quickly,
Ring and Thimble is a fantastic find, with terrific owners who are always happy to help should the need arise.
We look forward to our next visit!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. Our hosts Elizabeth and David were friendly and helpful. It was good that we had welcome access to their beautiful garden as well as our lovely little cottage garden at the back of the property.

The house was filled with lovely freshly cut flowers from the garden and, together with the welcoming cream tea provided, it is hard to see how we could have been made to feel more welcome.

The surrounding area is obviously lovely, and we have had a most enjoyable and relaxing week.

The cottage is a gem and as I like to cook I had a marvelous time with the Aga Cooker. We had a week of relaxation, made some trips is the area and went home very happy. The cottage has a large but cosy living space, a very generous bed & bathroom and a nice patio outside to enjoy. Elizabeth & David have done an excellent job! We would like very much to stay there again.

We have stayed for 20 years plus in Ring and Thimble (and Peace & Plenty the adjoining cottage). Attention to detail is fantastic - . The standard of the cottage is superb and the attention to detail is fantastic - Elizabeth Harris (the owner) thinks of everything. The location is superb - I can't recommend it highly enough.

Having stayed at many properties worldwide, we can say that Ring and Thimble was one of the best ever! The property is immaculate, is in a great location, and has everything you need. The owners have taken pride in this lovely accommodation and it certainly shows. We will definitely be back, and cannot wait! Thanks again for a memorable and enjoyable stay.

There is nothing negative that can be said about this cottage. I have stayed in many cottages in many different places over the years and if i had to pick the best thing from all those cottages and make my perfect cottage then ring and thimble would be it. After a week there we came away totally relaxed. If you are thinking about booking then just do it you won’t be disappointed. The reason so many reviews are saying it is perfect is because it is.

Elizabeth and David are the perfect hostess and host, they are warmly attentive without being intrusive, and very quick to deal with any problems or queries. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. We spent another wonderful 2 weeks at the Ring and Thimble and shall be returning for 3 weeks next year!

Ring and Thimble is stunning and exceptionally well equipped. I received a lovely welcome from Elizabeth and David and will certainly return to the calm, peace and beauty as soon as I possibly can. The photos do not do it justice as you cannot tell how incredibly comfortable it is, or how much you will feel at home here. All the thoughtful extras of fresh flowers, wonderful apple juice, scone and jams etc are a delight and much appreciated. I had planned to do a lot of walking, but found it too difficult to tear myself away from the cottage, and actually leaving on the Saturday morning was a real wrench! I am already looking forward to returning and recommend the cottages to everyone who is searching for a holiday cottage - you will not be disappointed!

We often stay for two weeks over Christmas and New Year here simply because it’s totally five star quality and so feels like it is such a special treat Liz and David think of everything for your happiness, well-being and total comfort… the super king bed bed!!! The luxury bathroom suite complete with huge fluffy white towels robes etc
We are walkers from Boscrowan there are walks aplenty in every direction, so many local food emporiums just perfect for eating in or bringing back to the cottage to prepare a feast in the beautiful kitchen… on the aga!
By the way the gardens at Boscrowan are so worthy of mention here as they are totally of botanical garden status! amazing plants Liz is an extraordinarily good plantswoman with a designers eye for detail fab we are so lucky to have Boscrowan in our lives it is a piece of total specialness

Ring and Thimble , What a lovely cottage, so cosy and clean. The cottage was well provided for even down to picnic baskets and binoculars. Elizabeth and David were wonderful hosts and allowed quests to use their own gardens and Summer house. Location was good for local sights but transport is needed. We will be returning next year along with my parents to sample Peace and Plenty cottage

This is our third visit to Boscrowan - and our second stay in Ring and Thimble; we very very rarely go back to the same place, but we just can’t resist returning here. The cottage is simply wonderful, it feels like home from home, so comfortable, so well equipped, so beautifully kept, with bags of room for two and heaps of character. Boscrowan farm is delightful, beautiful gardens, fun feeding the chickens!! - and very quiet. We continue to enjoy discovering this part of Cornwall, St Michael’s mount, St Ives, the minnack, coastal walks and fantastic bodyboarding/surfing on the north coast, to mention but a few! We have already booked for next year.

After a long journey we arrived at Ring and Thimble and given a warm welcome by Elizabeth. We opened the door and stepped into a beautifully furnished cottage - full of fresh flower, a delicious home made cream tea and apple juice (made on the farm).
The cottage has a lovely garden at the back with a table and very comfortable chairs so we ate outside a lot and enjoyed the quiet location and the rolling hills surrounding the cottage.
Great care and thought has to be taken to ensure the cottage has everything you need and more - loved the croissants in the freezer with very helpful cooking instructions for the Aga! Also it was so clean and everything had been made as covid secure as possible.
It's one of the best cottages we've stayed in - very comfortable bed and beautiful curtains and soft furnishings.
Elisabeth and David were excellent hosts - checking that everything was ok and always happy to help with any queries. We did enjoy feeding the chickens and being greeted by their lovely dog Nell and cat Tiny Tim!
A wonderful stay and a chance to forget about covid for a week - returning home refreshed and rested.

Best ever.

Cottages like the Ring and Thimble are a rare find. Most leave you with surprises like disappointing rooms, views and facilities. But not this one. The website is comprehensive with a video walk through of every room so there are no surprises on arrival. Everything you need for a stay is provided and is in excellent condition.
The Cottage is in a peaceful location within easy reach of all the major local attractions.
The owners are onsite and are happy to help with any issues you may have, but that will be a rare occurrence.

Elizabeth and David go out of their way to make sure that everything is comfortable for ones stay in the Cottage. Both the interior and the exterior of the Cottage are immaculate, very pretty and well maintained. The cottage contains everything one could need for ones stay, which includes shopping, bags, rugs, rucksack, etc. Elizabeth fills the cottage with flowers from her beautiful garden and one is greeted with freshly home made scones, homemade jam and Cornish Cottage Cream.

The surrounding gardens are very beautiful and it includes a large pond.

We have stayed in Ring and Thimble 6 times now, I think that tells one all.

We had a wonderful week's stay at Ring and Thimble and it was the best, most luxurious cottage we have ever stayed in - from all the extra touches like the cream tea on arrival, fresh flowers and everything we could ever need provided for, it was a memorable stay from beginning to end. Our only qualm was with the weather, which obviously could not be helped, and the fact that we were out all day every day exploring the area, so we did not spend as much time actually enjoying the cottage far more than we did - but it was always lovely returning each day, sometimes totally drenched from all the rain and wind, knowing that the cottage was so warm and welcoming, with a constant stream of hot water! It was the first time my husband and I have been back to this part of Cornwall for many years - 36 years since we were last in Mullion - and its a beautiful part of the world to explore. Amongst all the day trips, we went on a round trip with Coast Boat Trips from Penzance to Lands End to celebrate my husband's birthday, which was good fun and we would thoroughly recommend - all in all, a very enjoyable stay at Ring and Thimble and we would love to return.

This is our twelth year visiting Boscrowan Farm so I guess we are biased, but it really does feel like home from home.

Evening drinks in the Victorian summer house with Elizabeth & David, regular visits from Nell the Border Collie & Tiny Tim the cat, access to the fields, means you soon become part of fold.

Ring & Thimble (Or Peace & Plenty) are really comfortable with all the amenities you want. The icing on the cake was perfect weather to explore the west Cornwall coastline.

Elizabeth replied more than 1 year ago
Always lovely when guests return year after year and sometimes twice in one year! We are so glad you enjoyed drinks in the summerhouse - one of life's most simple yet most enjoyable pleasures, here at Boscrowan.

We had a great stay at Boscrowan Farm. Elizabeth was extremely helpful and kind in allowing us to rebook when our original stay couldn't go ahead due to COVID. The farm and gardens are beautiful, the cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. There were many extra touches from the cream tea on arrival to fresh flowers in the cottage and Elizabeth and David were on hand to answer any questions. We had a great trip exploring the area, kayaking, coasteering, walking etc. We would definitely highly recommend a stay here and a trip to West Cornwall in general. Thank you Elizabeth and David!

We have been staying at Boscrowan Farm for twelve years now. Why stay anywhere else in West Cornwall when David & Elizabeth (With help from Nell the dog & Tiny Tim the cat) provide accommodation that feels just like home. Having been a regular at Peace & Plenty Cottage, we have only recently discovered Ring & Thimble cottage. Both come highly recommended and a delight to stay in.

The Ring and Thimble exceeded our expectations. It’s beautiful inside and out, and the attention to detail is stunning. By far the best self- catering place we have ever stayed in. Incredibly homely, with the comfiest of beds. It has everything you could possibly need - including a champagne stopper! Which unfortunately we didn’t notice when we needed it because we never would have expected to find one!
The hosts couldn’t be more welcoming, whilst remaining completely Covid safe. The welcome cream tea was a real treat.
It’s the perfect place to stay for exploring the coast. We spent three nights there, but left so refreshed and relaxed, it felt like we’d been away for a lot longer.
We were very sad to leave and am sure we’ll be back. It’s idyllic.

Our first stay here was an absolute delight and from the outset of this review I can thoroughly recommend staying here, without hesitation. Your hosts Elizabeth and David made your stay welcome and any questions we had where answered immediately. Its more of staying in someones really nice home than staying in a rental holiday cottage which made our visit so much more enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen very well specced and the AGA, a delight to cook with and the furnishings all of a very high quality. The COVID-19 situation had been dealt with to the highest level and not once did we feel there was an issue. Now from a personal point of view and I'm being so picky I am on the verge of being pedantic, which no way reflects the positive review is the TV could be bigger to support the size of the very comfortable lounge and a more up to date and decent music listening/HiFi device that befits the high quality of the property, something like the Ruark Audio R3 compact music system. We loved our 7 day stay here and are coming back next year.

A beautiful, comfortable and relaxing escape.

We had a lovely week staying in the "Ring and Thimble" cottage on Boscrowan Farm. When the lockdown conditions had been removed in July we wanted to do a short break in Cornwall. We were so lucky to get the cottage, as a late cancellation meant that the week we were looking for was free, in an otherwise full calendar. When we arrived, we understood immediately why it was a popular accommodation choice.

The cottage itself is immaculate and beautifully presented. Elizabeth and David are lovely, always there to give any local advice/help, but never intrusive/self-imposing. The cream tea that Elizabeth provided on our welcome was delicious, even complete with two types of home made jam.

They have gone the extra mile to make sure that there is everything one could need and it really is a "home from home". The soft furnishings in the cottage are sumptous, probably one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept on, and the amazing Dahlia flower decorations throughout the cottage (actually home grown flowers from the farm) provide a nice finishing touch. Inside the kitchen is an Aga, which was a joy to use, all the other mod cons (dishwasher) and all the pots, pans, utensils that one needs. There's also a washing machine, tumble dryer in a separate utility room, and even a bread maker. There's many small touches - which did not go unnotice - e.g. torches, umbrellas, blankets, a rucksack, which are perfect for using on a day trip. In the freezer were little treats such as croissants, Cornish pasties and ice cream, with an honesty box to pay for the items. The croissants were lovely. The farm eggs were simply delicious and tasty, as one would expect with them being so fresh.

The bedroom and bathroom are large, immaculate and well-presented, again with lots of soft furnishings. There's even a separate dressing table in the bedroom, the comfy large bed, and in the bathroom there's a large shower and separate bath.

The location of the property is ideal, just outside Penzance and easily accessible from the main A30 road without having to go down country lanes. One is just a short walk into Penzance itself, but suitable removed to ensure that at nightime it is peaceful and quiet. We had such restful sleeps, mainly due to the comfy bed, the peace and quiet and the fact that it is totally pitch black at night (i.e. little/no light pollution, compared to the more built up area we live in back home).

The Ring and Thimble provides the perfect base for visiting some of the stunning scenary/attractions (St Ives, St Just, Newlyn, Mousehole, Cape Cornwall, Sennen beach, The MinackTheatre, St Michael's Mount etc, etc). Another hidden treasure was the free National Dahlia Centre, a vast open garden full of 1000s varieties of Dahlias: Be prepared to be met by a vast sea of colourful and beautiful flowers. Furthermore, the cottage is within a few minutes of Trengwainton Gardens, a beautiful National Trust garden (with an amazing Tea Room). It was still fairly busy in St Ives and Mousehole when we visited. For St Ives, we drove to St Erth and caught the Park and Ride train into St Ives. I would not recommend driving into Mousehole itself, there are a lot of narrow windy single track roads which become conjested. Furthermore, there are only two small carparks. The less stressful option is either to park just outside the village (lots of off-road parking/car parks) and take a lesiurely walk down, or catch the pink bus that runs from Penzane through Newyln into the centre of Mousehole.

A tour of the Minack Theatre is an absolute must, which is this open air theatre carved into the side of the cliff. Whilst we were there they were doing final preparations for a stage play, but we were allowed freely to wonder around and sit down and enjoy it. The garden tour is brilliant too. We also spent a lovely day down at Cape Cornwall, which was very nostalgic for my partner as she had spent many wonderful summer holidays with her family when she was growing up. The scenery is wonderful, the landscape rugged.

The farm is a working farm, and we were allowed to wonder freely around. The gardens are beautiful and it was lovely to be back with nature again. Also, I cannot forget to mention Nel (the young and friendly sheepdog) and Tiny Tim (the cute and adorable cat, who took a shining to us). We are animal lovers, so it was great to be able to give them fuss. However, Elizabeth and David are very respectful and if animals are not your thing they would make sure that Nel and Tim don't bother you.

All in all, we had a wonderful week - the chance to get away from it all in these uncertain times - to reconnect with nature. We are so very lucky in this country to have the wide range of scenery and landscapes in this country. Whilst we were having a cream tea in Carbis bay, we looked out of the restaurant window and could see the beautiful blue sea and sky and the yellow sand. With the temperate weather, one could easily think they were abroad somewhere.

We would definitely return to Cornwall as there is so much to see and do. Moreover, we would book the Ring and Thimble as it is the nicest cottage we have ever stayed in and we felt so sad to leave Boscrowan Farm at the end of our stay.

We had a fantastic holiday in the most luxurious, tasteful and well-equipped accommodation we have ever stayed in.
Very welcoming hosts who have thought of everything you might need and have provided lots of added touches.
The location is very peaceful and quiet, yet it is easy to walk to Penzance and in easy reach of many sights and both coasts.
We would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your equally wonderful review! To those who read it - it must be reassuring to read such a review before you book and give you the confidence to go ahead and click that book button. There is also another aspect which the reader may or may not realise - which is that it really does keep us as 'hands on' owners who do all the maintenance, future planning and changeovers, on our toes. We have to strive to maintain that quoted excellence. So further reassurance for the future guests!

In these strange times, knowing that your holiday home is going to be clean matters greatly, and the many regulars to Ring & Thimble already know that they can rely on the hosts to provide beautiful and pristine accommodation with all the comforts you need for a relaxing holiday. Cleanliness is second to none, and add to that the uniqueness of staying somewhere that is convenient for west Cornwall, tucked away in its own tranquil corner on the edge of Penzance, and you have all you need to enjoy a lovely time. We booked both this property and the neighbouring Peace & Plenty for the extended family and had a fabulous time!

Excellent!

We look forward each year to our early Spring stay in Ring and Thimble. A wonderful way to blow away the cobwebs of winter. Warm, comfortable, convenient and so beautifully appointed, the cottage is a friendly, happy home from home. The owners are delightful people who have thought of everything to make a stay enjoyable and relaxing. We are about to book our stay next Spring!

We know the property from previous visits and always look forward to the lovely warm welcome we receive from Liz and David. All our needs are catered for and the cottage is cosy and immaculate inside.
The welcome extras - fresh scones , delicious apple juice and everything for that 1st cup of tea is a treat. We will definitely return as soon as possible

We love to welcome guests back again to Boscrowan just as much as meeting new guests for the first time. Whilst the weather can be mixed in February, as indeed it was, we are glad that everyone finds the cottages so cosy. You can't beat feet up and relaxing in front of a woodturner in the evenings!

Our third visit to Boscrowan Farm this year. Over the last ten years we have stay in Peace and Plenty "The other property at Boscrown Farm" but on this occasion it was fully booked, so we stayed in Ring and Thimble property. What a fantastic surprise Ring and Thimble turned out to be. Very cosy yet roomy full of country charm. we finally got to meet Tiny Tim "The cat" who was a welcomed regular visitor. For December, even the weather was good! Will definitely be back sometime during 2020!

We loved everything about this stay: the thoughtful owners, the ambiance of the property, the location in Cornwall and being very near but not in Penzance, the walking, nearby activities, and the people/place of Cornwall. We are so glad we added Cornwall to our itinerary and would return in a heartbeat! Thank you Elizabeth and David!

For the past 10 years we've spent our main holiday at Ring and Thimble we just couldn't go any where else for such a relaxing stay. The cottage is devine with beautiful, homely furnishings and pretty flowers from the garden throughout.

The location is great and is within easy driving distance to other Cornish places to visit.

Everything you could wish for is here at Ring and Thimble for a truly wonderful Cornish holiday.

Go on treat Boscrowan is 'Exquisite Bliss'.

Elizabeth and David are wonderful hosts, on hand if needed with helpful suggestions. They have thought of everything for our holiday proving rucksack, car blanket, jigsaw puzzles, etc etc
Thank you so much for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward also to you returning again. There is no greater compliment for us than when even with all the accommodation choices there are in Cornwall our lovely guests want to return to Boscrowan, as many do, year after year. It keeps us on our toes to maintain standards and keep ringing the changes both inside the cottages and out in the gardens and surrounding area. Our customers like to see that we are investing cottage income wisely!!!

We arrived feeling tired after travelling but knew immediately we met David and Elizabeth we had made a good choice booking Ring and Thimble. They welcomed us, there were freshly made scones and home made jam to have with our coffee on arrival and fresh garden produce for us to enjoy. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. David and Elizabeth really make the effort to ensure their guests enjoy their holiday and do so without being intrusive. The fresh flowers in the cottage were delightful.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and Ring and Thimble came up to your expectations! Cottage changeovers take a surprisingly long time - often 5 hours, but it is as satisfying for us to have a cottage looking as perfect as possible, full of fresh flowers and other delights as it is a relief for arriving guests to see that their holiday accommodation is as perfect as they had hoped for. It's the detail and customer service that counts!

We arrived a little early to the ' Ring & Thimble '. but Elizabeth & David made us very welcome, the weather was lovely so we spent a short time in the gardens. A cream tea was waiting for us and on entering the property we could see the effort that had been put in to our forthcoming stay. Their were flowers everywhere and the furnishings were of top quality. The cottage itself is a thatch and everything within the cottage blended with the whole history of the building. The bed was so comfortable and each room had been carefully furnished. Their are so many places to see in the area which made the 'Ring & Thimble' a good base. Their is no doubt that we will be visiting again.

We've stayed at Boscrowan (in both Ring & Thimble and Peace & Plenty) very many times, which indicates that they are both excellent holiday cottages - very clean, comfortable, well equipped and tastefully furnished. Elizabeth and David are delightful, kind hosts and we always have a great time, whatever the weather. We tend to visit this beautiful part of Cornwall out of season and find lots to do, including taking lovely coastal walks, swimming in Penzance pool or the 1930s Lido, visiting galleries, joining the odd pub quiz or folk night and eating rather too much of those great Cornish specialties - pasties, cream teas (provided by Elizabeth with her home made jam & delicious scones) and local fish and chips. We wouldn't really consider staying anywhere else, as it's just perfect!

Another stay in this very well-appointed cottage. Despite the wind and the rain outside it is always cosy and warm inside. In the country, but a short walk to the village with a local shop and excellent fish and chip shop. Within a few miles are wonderful gardens, beautiful beaches, excellent restaurants and, at the end of the day, a luxurious super-sized bed to sink into. The hosts are friendly, helpful and keen to ensure that guests are comfortable and have access to everything needed for the beach, picnics and both indoor and outdoor activities. We look forward to our return.

Thank you for another lovely review. We are delighted you enjoyed your wintery Spring holiday despite the weather although there was no snow for you this year! Whatever the weather both cottages are warm and cosy at this time of year and especially so if guests use the woodburners and the plus also is that Cornwall is so quiet in March, yet you can have lovely weather on some days (if not all, and half term in Feb was almost wall to wall sunshine!)

Ring and Thimble is a beautifully presented, thatch cottage at Boscrowan Farm. The attention to detail and presentation is a perfect example of how things should be done. The cottage is very well equipped and the furnishings luxurious, comfortable and homely. Nearby Penzance has everything one could possibly need or want on the door-step and a short journey away. The gardens and fields of Boscrowan are lovely and Elizabeth's welcome is warm and friendly. The scones are delicious! We'll definitely be returning to stay here. We have very high, exacting standards, which were all met above and beyond our expectations. Well done, Elizabeth, this is how holiday cottages should be, we will be recommending Boscrowan to our friends.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for your very complimentary review. We strive hard to maintain consistently high standards and give our guests somewhere very special to stay with extra finishing touches. Our guests come with high expectations which we aim to meet and hopefully exceed. We do the changeovers ourselves and a changeover can take many hours - much longer than most people will realise, but it is the detail that counts!

This was our second visit to the ring and thimble, we returned because we love the beauty and quietness of the location, the wonderful aga and the big comfortable bed?
We were on a short break and managed lots of walks around the local area - we enjoyed the coastline and the variety of fabulous standing stones accompanied by the delicious pasty cooked in ring and thimble aga.
We returned home feeling totally relaxed and refreshed!

This was our third post Christmas stay in Ring and Thimble and our ninth at Boscrowan overall. However we do recognise that we are merely beginners when compared to other guests who have returned year after year. Once again we loved our fortnight in this gorgeous cottage, which on our arrival was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

We were very fortunate to have good weather for the whole of our stay, giving plenty of opportunity to explore more of the South West Coast path. Having visited before we were content not to venture too far, quite often leaving the car at the cottage and exploring on foot. We love to return to old favourites, but always try to have some new experiences. So this time it was good to walk from Lizard Village to Kynance cove once again, seal spotting as we went. Some of new experiences were the sections of the coastal path from Porthcurno to Porthgwarra and from Perranuthnoe (in both directions.) There we were fortunate to spot a pod of dolphins having huge fun in the waves. We saw more seals at Godrevy - fascinated by a dozen or so in the sea and on the island. However this was small fry compared to the vast number resting on the beach in Mutton Cove!

Once again we took the train from St Erth to St Ives - just an eleven minute journey but the most glorious scenery for most of it. We were able to see a very different St Ives, which was very quiet with almost deserted beaches and were easily able to get a table in the Porthmeor Beach Cafe.

We ate at restaurants and pubs which have long been favourites - the Dolphin is constantly good; but also tried out The Cornish Barn in Penzance and the Gannet at Carbis Bay, both of which we would return to. The Duke Street Cafe in Newlyn is also well worth a visit - we used that when making one of our visits to the Filmhouse - also to be recommended.

Wherever we went, it was a joy to return to the cosy and comfortable cottage which was our home from home (and receive an enthusiastic welcome from Nell, the collie pup, as we arrived.) The cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished and dressed with Elizabeth's exquisite trademark curtains and cushions. Crockery, china, bed linen and towels are of the finest quality. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and whilst we didn't produce cordon bleu catering, it was lovely to use the Aga for several meals, including some of the croissants available in the freezer. Whilst it may be difficult to drag yourself from the comfort of the lounge and perhaps the woodburner or the extremely comfortable and vast bed and luxurious bathroom, there is plenty to explore both within Boscrowan and beyond.

Thank you once again Elizabeth and David for everything you do and the time and effort you put into making sure guests are able to have their "best yet" holiday!

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
So glad you enjoyed yet another Boscrowan stay. Regular repeat guests such as yourselves do keep us on our toes - we always like to present a few changes and updates for each subsequent stay and the 'Spot the difference' challenge for you! Amazing isn't it - a dry fortnight at the end of Dec, beginning Jan - any weather is possible at any time of year, especially down here in Far West Cornwall

I've had a wonderful 2 week winter escape at Ring and Thimble. This little thatched cottage oozes quality from the beautiful handmade soft furnishings, quality linens, towels and crockery, through to the wonderful cosy sitting room, and enormous comfy bed. Too many lovely touches to mention here, but the overall feeling is a little like a boutique hotel with all the added comforts of home. Elizabeth is lovely too..very friendly but allowed me my privacy. I was lucky enough to join in with one of her cushion workshops which was great fun. I would highly recommend Boscrowan and hope to return soon.

We had the pleasure of discovering Elizabeth's beautiful cottage for 2. Before arriving (after a very long journey) email correspondence provided everything we needed. The standard of accommodation couldn’t have been higher, every aspect of the cottage was simply beautiful and our every need catered for. Fresh flowers on every surface, a cream tea with home made jam upon arrival and a chance to feed chickens put the icing on the cake. We loved our stay in Ring and Thimble and on the beautiful farm.

We spent a week at the Ring and Thimble and had wonderful time. After seeing the cottage on the website and reading the reviews I had very high expectations and these were more than exceeded. I cannot fault anything at all. Personally, I think that a stay at Boscrowan is more than just a fabulous holiday, it is also an experience where you can embrace all the best things in life. I admire the way that Elizabeth and David have taken so many steps to protect the natural environment and this is reflected in every aspect of a stay at the cottage. Thank you both so much. I would also mention the pub in the local village, The Sportsmans Arms, very easy to walk to, fabulous food, great value for money and very friendly locals.

The Ring and Thimble provided us with everything needed for a perfect relaxing holiday. It is a beautiful cottage with lots of space for two people to hang out most comfortably, in fact you don't feel the need to go anywhere in a hurry. The proprietors make a great effort to ensure everything is catered for and maintained to a high standard. Fresh flowers, home-baked scones with cream and jam, lovely crisp linen sheets, heaps of hot water (courtesy of the aga), heavenly soaks in the roll top bath and you are welcome to roam their enchanting garden. Situated near the best beaches in Cornwall, delightful gardens with fabulous walking nearby - need I say more?

When you travel you are often asked or ask yourself would you go back again, with Boscrowan Farm it is not deciding would you go back but rather how can you make sure it happens. We have travelled rather extensive and often particularly in the last 20 years and as accommodation, hosts, location and environment are considered Elizabeth and David's Boscrowan Farm is unrivalled. Being able to make use of the house , farm and garden is such a pleasure. Ring and Thimble is spacious in all areas of the house and is equiped very generously with appliances, bedding and comfort furniture.

Everything is wonderful. The cottage looks like a chocolate box advert, both inside and out. The garden which the cottage over looks is very beautiful and colourful. There are herbs, lettuce and spinach just outside the cottage door to pick whenever needed. The ambiance is one of peace and tranquility. There will definitely be a 6th visit.

We are delighted you enjoyed yet another biennial visit. It's a lovely time of year to savour all the colour and perfume in the gardens and with growing veg and herbs right outside the door - just perfect with fresh fish purchased from Newlyn, 5 mins drive away which I know you enjoyed on many evenings.

The website for Boscrawn Farm clinched the deal, we were able to navigate around the cottage and therefore were confident of the facilities and high level of interior design/ finishes and we booked it immediately! The cottage is very well appointed and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable and the linen smelt wonderful- it is dried in the Cornish sunshine. The farm is quiet and we slept soundly which is the perfect antedote to city living . Elizabeth has thought of everything the freezer is stocked with tasty croissants and Cornish pasties, a delicious cream tea is awaiting on arrival, Each room has fresh bouquets of garden flowers. We loved its last cation close to beach s, art galleries snd ancient monuments. We will be returning for the Bisctoean experience in the near future! Thank you.

We are delighted that you so enjoyed your stay and felt so relaxed and refreshed despite such a busy week visiting and enjoying so many local galleries, gardens and places of interest. Glad the cream tea, pasties and croissants went down well too! Looking forward to seeing you again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very well presented and equipped cottage set within lovingly maintained gardens.
We received a lovely welcome from Elizabeth and David and the advice they gave us on places to visit in the area made our stay even more enjoyable. We look forward to our next visit.

Even when it rains and blows and even snows, this is a lovely warm and comfortable cottage. Beautifully presented with gorgeous soft furnishings and the most comfortable and roomy bed. The Aga is a joy even for an Aga novice ( there is also an electric cooker). Excellent location - a country feel, but only a short walk into the village with a good fish and chip shop and well stocked stores. Easy access to the A30 and into Penzance with only a few miles to the coast.
Elizabeth and David are welcoming, but leave guests free to enjoy their stay and whatever holiday they enjoy whether relaxing or very active. Everything is provided to suit all tastes from jigsaws to beach and picnic equipment.
This was our fourth stay and will not be our last.

Ring and Thimble is set in a very peaceful rural location but with all of Penzance's facilities just a short drive or modest walk away. There's plenty of space to park outside the property. Ring and Thimble was spotlessly clean and settling in was very easy. Everything has been thought of including a cream tea on arrival; ice ready frozen for that first holiday drink; ideas for your first meal and a trug of fresh veg. The location is ideal to get easily to many beautiful, unspoilt beaches (Sennen, Porthcurno, etc.); all that St. Ives has to offer; St. Michael's Mount and so much more. There's plenty to do out and about but just staying and enjoying the luxury, comfort, peace and quiet at Boscrowan Farm is well worth it too. The owners Elizabeth and David are very welcoming and always available to help out but don't intrude and want you to make the most of enjoying all that a stay at Boscrowan Farm has to offer.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad Ring and Thimble exactly fitted the bill for a getaway for two, whether you just stayed and chilled out in the cottage or went out and about exploring and enjoying all those nearby wonderful places to enjoy. There is indeed so much to see and so nearby that if you returned year after year you would still discover more.

Our 2nd visit to this beautiful cottage. Everything and more is provided to ensure perfection!

We love our time at Boscrowan and have been many times over the last 16 years. The cottages have evolved over the years with little touches such as Robert Welch Cutlery, Villeroy and Boch dinner service together with local toiletries added so that they now exude luxury and comfort. We particularly love coming out of season to enjoy the log burner after blustery walks in the area. Liz and David are the perfect hosts and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both Ring and Thimble and Peace and Plenty as wonderful boltholes to spend a few days or a couple of weeks. Once we found Boscrowan, we stopped searching for the perfect holiday cottage in Cornwall.

Lovely to see you again, as always and thank you for your continued support over so many years. Thank you for the lovely review and I hope that the new cutlery you coveted appears in your stocking next Christmas, if not you will just have to keep coming back to Boscrowan to enjoy it! We do appreciate your kind words and must keep busy, to aim continuously at providing perfection for All!

Both Paul and I were blown away by the surroundings and aesthetic details of the cottage. There are lots of beautiful features such has hand made embroidered cushions and curtains, a wonderful fireplace which we enjoyed to full effect on our second night here, and a beautiful country style kitchen complete with Aga.

Both Elizabeth and David were great hosts, so helpful and welcoming. They really added another level of warmth and enjoyment to the experience.
We were treated to a most delicious cream tea upon arrival, which we devoured very quickly. We absolutely can’t wait to go back - for a longer stay next time! A fabulous experience and an extremely relaxing weekend was had at the Ring & Thimble cottage.

Thank you for your kind review and we are glad you are so inspired by your short stay that you want to return for longer. Stay for a week, a fortnight or a month here and you'll always find new places to explore every day, such is our location near the end of the Cornish peninsula. Both coasts, moorland, seaside villages, beaches and towns all such a short distance away. It may be a long journey here for some but it's well worth those extra miles!

We stayed in Peace and Plenty last November and Ring and Thimble this November. They are both absolutely amazing, with all of Elizabeth and David's special touches, the top quality of the bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery etc, etc. Then there are the beautiful curtains made by Elizabeth, the art, the flowers from the garden in every room, not to mention the home-made scones, cream and delicious jams, marmalade, trug of vegetables from the garden etc., etc.

We wouldn't usually book accommodation for two because they can be quite pokey, with nowhere to store suitcases but Ring and Thimble is so spacious with a large under-eaves cupboard cum wardrobe, a lovely dressing area in the bedroom and a huge bathroom.

Boscrowan will be our benchmark in the future, which will make it very difficult to find anywhere else as special and unique and with such friendly, generous hosts.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
Well thank you for a very complimentary review indeed and that is often the case - guests can't decide which cottage they prefer so are happy to spend their holidays in either, whichever is free for the dates the require. If it's a couple staying and the wife prefers one and the husband the other.........no guesses who wins!!! As to being a benchmark - that is a great accolade too, we feel, and such positive reviews just make us try all the harder with our standards. Guests come with high expectations and we have to strive to exceed them if we can.

A Cornish Gem.

If you want to holiday in Cornwall, the holiday cottages at Boscrowan are the place to stay.

For the past 11 years we've always stayed in Ring and Timble which sleeps 2 people and is an idyllic country cottage with thatched roof. The furnishing are beautiful, and there are alway fresh flowers from the gardens dotted throughout the cottage, plus a wonderful home made cream tea for your arrival.

The bedroom is to die for, it is perfect for the true romantic.

We've also taken a peek in Peace and Plenty which sleeps 4 and this cottage again is wonderful, and has the quirky situation of having the living areas upstairs which gives you gorgeous views of the gardens.

Once more, this cottage too is also furnished beautifully and your every comfort is catered for.

Elizabeth and David make the most wonderful hosts and are also the reason why we've gone back year on year. Don't delay book your stay today!

Yet another lovely week spent in Ring and Thimble. It never ever disappoints such a beautiful property and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The weather wasn't as good as it could have been, but at Boscrowan it never matters its cosy, and there's always a game or jig- saw to keep you occupied. Just a trip to Newlyn to collect fresh fish or to St Just for the butchers and you are set for a fabulous meal with a selection of veg from Boscrowan's garden.

For us this our 'go to ' place, but we are happy to share our secret with others for the times when we cannot make it.

We can recommend The Square in Porthleven for a meal anytime and The Coastguard at Mousehole for Sunday Lunch

Cannot wait to come back again and again. Thank you Elizabeth and David

We are delighted you enjoyed your first stay at Boscrowan and your first trip back to this area for over 20 years. You certainly made the most of your stay and our location, walking so many miles on the scenic South West Coast Path and what better way to explore than on foot, although we are sorry that the buses were already on their winter timetables and less frequent. At least I suppose the most south westerly bus stop in England (Lands End) has a fabulous view!

Perfect surroundings, perfect hosts, a perfect cottage, with those extra touches that make all the difference. The soft furnishings and colour schemes bowled me over, a real home from home.....the home grown tomatoes were to die for!
We were left to our own devices, given privacy and space to roam the gardens at our leisure, but knowing Elizabeth and David were to hand if ever we needed anything.
We left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and very much look forward to returning again.
An added bonus, now awaiting curtains that Elizabeth will make with her own fair hand....what a find!!
Very much recommended.

Goodness - thank you for all those perfects! We are so glad you enjoyed the cottage and your holiday in Cornwall and you so made the most of it with all your wonderful cycle rides along our fabulous coastal roads - as fine a way to enjoy the amazing scenery as on horseback and you could cover so many more miles on one trip, but we would understand your exhilaration well! What greater compliment too than to commission new curtains for your own home after enjoying the Ring and Thimble interiors. That's what I do in my spare time! - www.finecurtains.co.uk We too look forward to seeing you again one day.

We are very many time returners to Boscrowan cottages they are our very and most favourite Cornish self catering cottages
There are more and more many and varied choices coming onto the self catering market Elizabeth and David at Boscrowan continue year on year to be of a standard that is head and shoulders above the rest.
The cottages are constantly maintained to the highest of levels both Elizabeth and David are so welcoming from moment of arrival the relaxed holiday feeling begins!
A great start to the holiday is always the delicious freshly baked homemade cream tea awaiting your attention on arrival! there is a trug of fresh Cornish veggies a bottle of cold freshly pressed and very local apple juice left for you in the fridge, fresh eggs from the hens always available to purchase, local food heroes abound down in Penzance it's a foodie delight!
The fresh cottage garden flowers are a delight they are in every room and this is a truly beautiful touch and at anytime of the year!
Thank you so much Elizabeth and David for allowing the rest of us this chance to stay and enjoy your piece of paradise
We shall be back

A fantastic few days soaking up the rural peace at Boscrowan and the many nearby attractions of Far West Cornwall. The cream tea on arrival is the perfect start to a stay. The property was immaculate and a pleasure to be in. Everything you could possibly need has been thought of - down to the ready frozen ice cubes for drinks! We enjoyed having the freedom to relax in the recently revitalised gardens and fields as well as cooking on the Aga using Boscrowan grown produce. The April weather was glorious. The owners, Elizabeth & David, were the perfect hosts. We will be back as soon as we can!

Looking forward to seeing you again!

We have had the best and most happy relaxing stay in Ring and Thimble for Christmas the cottage has been outstanding in comfort, cosiness and luxury, nothing ever seems to be too much effort or trouble for Elizabeth and David they consistently ensure that everything is thought of they are truly the very magic of Boscrowan
We buy all our provisions locally from the many food hero's here abouts and happily cook our meals on the wonderful aga there is also an electric cooker for those with the need, we have relaxed in the lounge with the fab and so efficient multifuel burner feeling very pleased with ourselves to have all of this to our selves for our Christmas holiday
The bedroom in Ring and Thimble is sheer luxury with an extra large super king size canopied bed the luxurious feel completed with the beautiful white linen bedding
In the bathroom the luxury continues - relax in the freestanding bath or to enjoy a hot large walk in shower warm deeply fluffy white towels complete the experience!
We are many time returners to Boscrowan we so enjoy the area all around Penzance central to very many excellent walks and it's so easy to get to many places a little further afield should you feel the need,
Thank you Elizabeth and David for a truly fantastic Christmas stay in Ring and Thimble this place is magic!

Our second visit to this delightful cottage. Welcomed with a lovely home made cream tea, the cottage filled with Elizabeth's beautiful flower arrangements. Everything has been provided which anyone might need for a happy, carefree holiday. The cottage is very well appointed with gorgeous soft furnishings, an amazing bed and the joy of an Aga yet is homely and relaxing. The situation is very convenient with coves, beaches, gardens and vineyards all within easy reach. Many interesting and scenic places to visit. The village is within easy walking distance with convenience stores, a pharmacy and an excellent fish and chip shop. We will be returning for a third visit and look forward to our next meeting with Elizabeth and David, not forgetting Meg and Molly their friendly dog and cat.

Thank you for your very complimentary review. We are delighted you have returned for a second visit and already contemplating a third! You really made the most of your stay here and lived your days here much as we live our lives - a walk down to the shop to purchase almost anything, a sneak down to the fish and chip shop on those occasional nights when you are just too tired to cook, using the aga to knock up culinary delights, air any washing (and you can't beat warm clothes in the Autumn mornings) and soak away the strains of the day with a deep soak in the aga heated hot water in the roll top bath, a nip into the greenhouse to pick tomatoes straight from the plants, not to mention the quick chats with the dog and cat languishing outside in the sunshine. It's a good life here at Boscrowan and that's what we like most - to see our guests enjoying it just as we do!

simple touches of beautifully arranged flowers cut fresh from their garden, apple juice made from their orchards, and freshly baked scones from the aga remember jam, (incidently made by Elizabeth),first then cream! Its a joy to open the door, whatever the weather to such a delightful holiday home.Thank you both and see you in 2017.

Our first stay in Ring and Thimble. The luxurious accommodation in this beautiful setting was a real treat. The cottage was immaculate and everything we needed and more was thought of - even down to ice cubes ready in the freezer for Saturday night drinks! The owners Elizabeth and David are superb hosts making sure everything is right but without being obtrusive. The flower and herb arrangements in the cottage were stunning and it was great to have lots of home grown veg to use. The best accommodation we have ever stayed in!

Upon arrival after. 10 hour journey after 40 years since we last visited Cornwall.would we like it?

The answer to the above would be an emphatic YES. Upon arrival we were met by Elizabeth & David and shown round the cottage. Did it meet our expectations YES it did from the decor to cleanliness to the food provided, what more can I say. As a lover of flowers the arrangements were exceptional. Throughout our stay whenever we met Elizabeth we had many conversations she was always looking to help with any enquirie's and was a thoroughly good host.

Thank you for your very kind compliments. We are so glad that it was worth the long journey in the end - we do live in a particularly fine area of Cornwall. However the roads can be very, very busy in August and to add to the travelling distance we are pretty near the far west of Cornwall near Lands End. However, come in the Autumn, Winter or Spring and with our wonderful climate down here you can experience as good a weather out of season as in high summer. We have very few frosts - maybe as low as -2 occasionally in the Winter and there have been years when a week in February has been sunnier than a week in August. So to any future prospective guests - if you want to avoid the traffic come in the shoulder months and enjoy the lovely days and darker evenings when you can cosy up in front of a roaring wood burner and relax!

People read these reviews and often, like myself, wonder just how acurate they are! I have no hesitation in recommending Ring and Thimble as one of the finest self catering establishments I have stayed in.If you enjoy the finest furnishings and bed linens and lovely garden flowers along with wonderful hosts who know when to be there if needed, then look no further, you will not be disappointed with your choice. A delightful stay and we look forward to returning very soon.

Thank you for yet another lovely review. You were the very first guests to ever stay in Ring and Thimble, 11 years ago and how lovely for us both that you have stayed once or twice every single year since then - I think that says it all! It is important to us too to keep decorating and updating and changing a few things each year in the cottages , to keep regulars, such as yourselves on their toes with 'spot the changes' and so that now, as these cottages have been running for so many years that they never seem tired but fresh and like new for both returning and new guests alike.

Everything is wonderful. Everything provided that one could want and more besides. The care taken to provide such an excellent stay in a beautiful cottage is beyond any other that we have found in holiday let accommodation. David and Elizabeth go out of their way to make sure that one is happy and satisfied. This was our 4th stay here so I think that says it all!

If you are looking for a wonderful holiday in Cornwall, you need look no further than a stay at Boscrowan. Both cottages are beautifully decorated and furnished. Attention to detail is paramount with every home comfort one can wish for, lovely fresh cut garden flowers in all the rooms, plus a delicious cream tea on arrival. Local hand-made soap, fluffy towels, comfy bath robes, and crisp white bed linen. There are assorted books, games and DVDs to choose from too. If you've never cooked on an Aga, you don't know what you've been missing, it's certainly made me want one as the food is always so delicious, there is a normal cooker but you really should try using the Aga.

We have been staying in Ring and Thimble for 10 years now and no where else comes up to the same top rate standard as this beautiful cottage; when I first arrived all those years ago I described the cottage as "exquisite bliss" and I absolutely stand by that still.

Elizabeth and David have made an absolute haven of a delightful Cornish holiday at Boscrowan and are the best hosts one could wish for.

Thank you for yet another great review. We are so glad that you love it here - indeed when guests return year after year for so many years we are pretty confident that what we are offering here at Boscrowan must 'fit the bill!' Indeed, it gives us immense satisfaction to welcome back regular guests who become part of the Boscrowan year, as much as new guests who often soon become annual guests!

Ring and Thimble is everything you could ask for. Pretty thatched cottage, extremely comfortable, very well appointed and attractively furnished, clean, quiet. We appreciated the welcome tray of home-made scones and jam, the trug of complementary vegetables and the fresh herbs. Thoughtful touches which mean a lot. In one word - Perfect!

This was our second stay in Ring and Thimble - although our sixth visit to Boscrowan altogether. The cottage is warm, cosy, comfortable and stylish with beautiful curtains and cushions, crisp linen bedding and large and fluffy towels and bathrobes. The living area encourages you to relax in armchairs in front of the woodburner, read to your heart's content from the wide variety of books available, complete a jigsaw or watch the wide variety of birds visiting the garden. However for the more high-tech there is the TV, DVD, iPod Docking station or the radio to entertain you. The kitchen is a real cook's kitchen offering the opportunity to cook on the Aga (using recipes from the many cook books - or tips and hints from previous visitors) and is extremely well equipped - not only are there round pastry cutters - but square ones too!! China, glass and cutlery is plentiful, high quality and sparklingly clean. The bedroom and bathroom are extremely spacious and positively decadent and the dressing/reading area in the bedroom is perfect.

Whilst one could be forgiven for luxuriating in the cottage for the whole of the visit, there is much see in the rest of Boscrowan with formal gardens, the orchard, the wildlife pond and several fields to explore, not to mention the friendly dog, cat, chickens and ducks to feed.

The Penwith area of Cornwall has some beautiful beaches, lovely gardens, mining history, interesting harbours, coastal paths, moorland, galleries and some quirky independent shops. There is a plethora of eating places including pubs, beach cafes, seafood cafes and restaurants all serving a wide range of locally caught fish. Details of all local activities, walks, maps timetables and eateries are provided in the cottage.

Elizabeth and David have created a home from home (and Peace and Plenty next door is equally lovely). Thank you so much for everything.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
We were more than delighted to welcome you back to Boscrowan again and are so glad you enjoyed it to its full extent. Wandering around the fields, guided by an enthusiastic dog, deciding which shape pastry cutter to select, lighting the fire each evening, doing a jigsaw, boiling the kettle on the aga, - some of life's simple pleasures - and aren't they just the best! Looking forward to seeing you for your next slice of Boscrowan country life, whenever that might be.

A very enjoyable stay during December. Ring and Thimble is a fabulous cottage with the comforts of a fireplace and Aga. The location is ideal to explore the lower parts of Cornwall and there are some lovely walks in the area. Elizabeth made us feel very welcome and we arrived to homemade scones, jams and honey. There is lots of information in the cottage of things to do and places to go which is very useful to a visitor. We have already talked about returning to Boscrowan Farm next year, and we cannot wait. Thank you for a very lovely stay Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
We are so delighted you enjoyed your stay and proved that December in Cornwall can be just as good as any other time of year. Indeed you can make the most of the woodburner in these cooler months and there's nothing more relaxing than an evening in front of the fire, planning your next day with all the Boscrowan Out and About information which we provide. We look forward to welcoming you back.

We have holidayed in Cornwall for many years and have for the best part stayed in very nice places but Boscrowan beats the lot. There are two cottages next to each other and we stayed in the Ring & Thimble which is the 1 bed thatched cottage. The owners, Elizabeth & David, are first-class hosts and everything you could possibly need and more is catered for in the cottage. It is spotlessly clean and wonderfully decorated - Elizabeth makes the soft furnishings and they are delightful. The Aga provides constant hot water, and so taking full advantage and relaxing in the lovely spacious bathroom in the roll-top bath is a necessity! Vases of beautiful flowers are in every room to welcome you, as well as home-baked scones, jams & clotted cream, a trug of seasonable vegetables, your own home-grown lettuce patch for your sole use, etc, etc. Their care and commitment really shows throughout and Elizabeth & David put so much effort in making your stay just perfect.

There are lots of places to eat nearby, fabulous beaches, you can tap into a bit of culture if you like by way of the Minack Theatre or the nearby galleries such as the Penlee Gallery in Penzance. Or you can just stay in and put your feet up with a good book - very therapeutic, try it!

The cottage is beautifully appointed and Elizabeth's attention to detail, from the homemade scones and jams to the delightful fresh flowers in every room, makes this a very special escape. Ring and Thimble at Boscrowan Farm is the 5 Star De Luxe of the self-catering world.every comfort was proved for starting with a Cream Tea on arrival with home made Strawberry and Blackberry jam . Delicious ! A trug of home gown carrots, onions potatoes and a large cauliflower provided free made a tasty casserole to pop into the ever ready Aga. Arriving at Penzance by train we were met by Elizabeth the Owner and a wonderful host . Cornish Pasties were ready in the freezer for a quick supper and croissant for breakfast. Our spacious sitting room was luxuriously furnished with even a small desk to write at . Lots of pictures , books and magazines were readily available. Up the wooden hill to the very cosy , comfortable bedroom with a very big bed with its gorgeous fine linen and deep, deep mattress ! The orchard, the gardens and fields and the babbling brook running by comleted the picture book surroundings of this most desirable holiday cottage. Elizabeth and David provided us with every opportunity to have a wonderful holiday in March 2015. The cottage was idyllic, in a rural setting but close to the town of Penzance. The furnishings were most attractive and very comfortable. The cream tea on arrival, their thoughtfulness in providing essential items like cooking oil, homemade marmalade, coffee, pepper, salt etc all added to a relaxed and enjoyable break. All equipment worked well and we loved the coffee from the coffee machine. We enjoyed fresh vegetables from the garden and walking through the nearby fields of daffodils. Elizabeth and David were helpful and friendly but unobtrusive. In every way, this accommodation and service exceeded our expectations. What could be more welcoming than fresh flowers arranged in every room? We recommend this cottage very highly to anyone who likes the best quality and service.

We had a lovely holiday at Boscrowan Farm. Ring and Thimble was so warm and welcoming. The Aga cooker was a real treat and with the heating every room was kept warm despite the wintry weather. We enjoyed the layout and design of every room so much it was easy to see that Elizabeth and David Harris have put their heart and hard work into making a cottage exceptionally special. It was fun to try out the Aga, so baking scones and a casserole were the order of the day - perfect. Boscrowan Farm provided many interesting delights with some very good looking chickens, horses and a variety of birds. We even saw a Jay visiting the orchard and bird feeder on a regular basis. We would have no hesitation in returning here as there is much to do and see. There is lots of information in the cottage on what to do and where to go. Endless things to do in whatever the weather. Our only problem was deciding what to do.

We have visited Boscrowan four times previously, staying in Peace and Plenty on each occasion. We wondered whether we would like Ring and Thimble as much. We absolutely did! Ring and Thimble offers everything we love about P &P, the fantastic soft furnishings, the cream tea on arrival, the fresh flowers, the vegetable trug, the fact that every thing has been considered down to the tiniest detail. However we also had new experiences; we enjoyed the responsibility of dispensing treats to Jess, Meg and Molly who appeared at the kitchen door as soon as they sensed movement, we learnt to grapple with the AGA, and we loved the sumptuousness of the bathroom and bedroom.

As ever we were well looked after by David and Elizabeth and enjoyed spending time with them - I loved my covered coat hanger masterclass. One day mine may look as professional as the many which are available in the cottages!

Of course we will return - but I wonder to which cottage? I fear that whichever, we may need to be forcibly removed at the end of our stay to make room for the next lucky guests!!

Elizabeth replied more than 1 year ago
We are delighted you enjoyed your fifth holiday here and this time, next door. It's interesting to note that many guests find it hard to decide which cottage they prefer as they are so difficult to compare. Both are similar overall floor area and whilst the lovely large sumptuous bedroom and bathroom upstairs in Ring and Thimble have a definite feel of absolute decadence, the two bathrooms and two bedrooms in Peace and Plenty next door (so one bathroom each if there are just two of you!) are often of similar appeal. The aga in Ring and Thimble is easy to use and maybe a new experience for some and there's the wonderful inglenook fireplace with multiburner as focal point of the living room. Next door in Peace and Plenty, where it is of reverse level design, the lovely light and airy open plan Kitchen, dining and living area have lovely views over the gardens and orchard behind, with the woodburner occupying central position. Indeed, I can't actually decide which is my favourite - I love them both equally!!

We recently thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Ring and Thimble Cottage at Boscrowan and I am delighted to be able to strongly recommend this outstanding luxury holiday cottage. It has a deceptively large interior with plenty of room for two people and is superbly equipped right down to a magnificent Aga cooker and everything else you could possibly need to make a great holiday. It has been carefully thought through with every detail considered. I am not surprised it has won several awards and enjoys glowing reviews on all the top sites. They are 100% justified. The owners are nearby and extremely helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you both and our chats outside whilst you were feeding Jess, Meg and Molly their ever anticipated treats.

We had a very pleasurable stay at Ring and Thimble, Boscrowan Farm when our needs were met fully, as the above concludes.
Elizabeth and David were warm, helpful hosts and we enjoyed time in and around Boscrowan as much as our outings!

We enjoyed meeting you both and welcoming you to Boscrowan for your first visit here and we are so glad you had a great holiday. It was very pleasurable too for us to discover we had common interests and thank you for adding another restaurant to our list of best places to eat locally - we learn so much from our guests!

This was our fourth visit to Ring and Thimble at Boscrowan and it is a place that you simply want to come back to.
It is furnished to the highest of standards and the owners are a very special couple making sure that your stay is enjoyable
and are on hand with helpful advice. The moment you step through the door you are transported to another world - the ultimate
place to relax and unwind. A welcoming home made Cornish cream tea awaits your arrival, numerous vases of flowers decorate each room and there's a trug of vegetables in kitchen. Every conceivable piece of kitchen equipment imaginable from utensils to bread maker is available - even a picnic basket/rug is ready for days out.
If that wasn't all, the cottage is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful area of Cornwall - full of hidden gems and hidaways.
A very special place to stay whatever the weather.

We are so delighted you enjoy every stay here so much that you keep returning! We love sharing our very special place with all our guests who we consider are very special too and we enjoy preparing the cottages before each and every new arrival - it's the extra touches that count and hopefully make every stay a holiday to remember for ever. When we first developed the self catering business here twelve years ago we didn't initially realise quite how well located we were to visit so many wonderful places and of such variety, so close by. Just reading the Visitors book and all our guests do and see in a week has been a revelation over the years!

Ring and Thimble is a storybook cottage with all the modern comforts. From fresh flowers to deluxe linens and every kitchen tool you could imagine, the atmosphere is uniquely relaxing. Elizabeth, David and their friendly animals made us feel welcome on their historic farm. Whether you stay home to enjoy a rural experience or head out to see the Cornwall sights, Ring and Thimble provides a peaceful and warm retreat for a special holiday.

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay here whilst you were in England and thank you for your kind compliments. It was lovely meeting you both and chatting to you during the week when you were outside, enjoying the wonderful sunshine and comparing life in this country with that of yours abroad.

A luxurious cottage for two - equipped to a very high standard. A cream tea on arrival and access to the vegetable patch are two examples of the extra touches that welcome visitors.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Boscrowan and that you returned again this year, this time to 'test out' our other cottage. The two cottages are quite different in layout and design and often couples can't decide or at least agree between themselves which is their favourite! We're glad you enjoyed helping yourselves to the veg in our vegetable and flower cutting area - you can't beat freshly harvested, and food yards instead of food miles has to be good!

We have stayed at Ring and Thimble for eight consecutive years and the level of comfort, general condition and warmth of the welcome has never wavered from excellent. The cottage has won numerous tourism awards and it is easy to see why. It is an excellent base from which to travel to all parts of western Cornwall and the perfect place to relax after a long walk or cycle ride as well as feeling very much a home from home on days when the weather does not allow trips out. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your kind compliments - we're delighted you enjoy staying at Boscrowan so much that you return, year after year for a fortnight in the summer. We feel this cottage might well be classified as your 'second home'. We enjoy welcoming you back every bit as much as you enjoy coming back and you can enjoy your holiday from the instant you arrive as Ring and Thimble must be like an old friend by now - you know pretty much everything about her - inside and out! We do however like to give our regular visitors a little element of surprise each year by ringing the changes ever so slightly - to test their powers of observation and memories!

We only booked the cottage because of its proximity to the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno which has always been on our bucket list for places to visit. Having said that, the Ring and Thimble cottage was absolutely beautiful; with a thatched roof and lots of other things provided such as a welcoming cream tea, a trug of fresh vegetables etc.
David and Elizabeth Harris, the owners, were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We even fell in love with Meg and Jess. the two sheepdogs.
All in all, an excellent cottage.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay here and hope that the wonderful productions at the Minack Theatre might tempt you back to Cornwall again one day. It's a wonderful experience - there's no place quite like it and it's only 25 minutes drive from Boscrowan.

Wow beautiful place!

Take a typical English cottage in mind and Ring and Thimble is the place you will see. Really everything is right at this place. High quality dressed, really everything is there. Tastefully decorated. The owners are concerned that people feel a sense of coming home with care giving and give you a perfect holiday. All right!

Thank you for your kind compliments. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in Ring and Thimble and are glad you found it a typical English cottage which it truly was at the time you came to stay - with the wonderful scented old fashioned rose even, in full bloom beside the door.

Thank you for your wonderful description of a holiday in Ring and Thimble. You were our first guests ever to stay there and the fact that you have returned 16 times in 10 years seems a fairly reasonable indication that you rather enjoy holidays in this cottage. We enjoy having you return just as much as you enjoy returning!

This is our 3rd visit to Ring and Thimble and each time our experience has exceeded our expectations. The ambiance of the surroundings are tranquil and relaxing. The interior of the cottage is perfect, there is everything there that one could need for a holiday and more. The furnishings are of the highest quality. David and Elizabeth go out of their way to make sure that one has an excellent holiday. Their garden, which one is invited to share, is an area of sculptured lush greenery with a palette of soft colours with the odd vibrant splash. There are domestic cats and dogs who are excellently behaved. The chickens wander around their gardens and their eggs can be enjoyed. The area around Penzance offers many interesting outings without having to travel very far. I can't praise the cottage enough, shall we return again? You bet we will!

Thank you for your kind comments - it makes all our labours so worthwhile. However, providing self catering holiday accommodation is very much a two way experience. We gain great pleasure in going the extra mile to put in all those little extra touches and our wonderful guests such as yourselves help us in so many ways too. Complimentary reviews, completing a page in the Visitors Book suggesting the best places to eat and visit (which is of great benefit to future guests), leaving a tidy cottage when you depart are to mention but a few. In so many ways you help us to have become the successful enterprise that we are. So you may feel lucky that you have found us but we feel lucky and privileged to have found you too!

Warm welcome from hosts and delicious cream tea and complimentary vegetable trug offered on arrival.

Ring and Thimble is a unique, delightful cottage furnished to a very high standard, with many added touches.

Both the bedroom and bathroom are large with much character. The lounge has a wood burning stove and the well fitted kitchen is warm and cosy.

The patio to the rear of the property is sheltered and private with flower borders.

A superb cottage in every way and a joy to return to at the end of a busy day.

We have stayed at Boscrowan many times over the past ten years and have never found anywhere else quite like it. Tucked away and out of sight, you enter a world of peace and beauty with two of the most delightful cottages. Different from each other inside and out, they are everything you could want in a holiday home.
Luxurious and incredibly comfortable with lovely decor and thoughtful touches in every room, a place to look forward to going back to each day.
Each time we stay, we never want to leave, and hope to return again and again.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
It is so incredibly gratifying when, despite there existing such an enormous choice of self catering properties in Cornwall that we have such a high proportion of our guests who come back to stay at Boscrowan year after year. Indeed I recall that you have actually been to stay at Boscrowan 13 times in 10 years. Quite simply amazing! Thank you for your continued loyal support! We enjoy welcoming back returning guests just as much as they seem to enjoy returning! Equally, it is wonderful to share Boscrowan with and introduce this beautiful area of West Cornwall to new guests.

We stayed in 'Ring and Thimble' The accommodation was of a very high standard and set in a beautiful, peaceful location. It was lovely to be met each morning by the friendly 'menagerie'

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
The 'menagerie' are all quite a sociable bunch! It's amusing observing them assemble in anticipation on Ring and Thimble front patio in the mornings, waiting for a sign of movement in the kitchen.

We have been going to Ring & Thimble for a few years now. Even though we stay at other places all over the UK we are still drawn back to this cottage. It is the one that feels like home and a week is never enough. The place is always immaculate and if you love walking & cycling there is always plenty of routes to explore. We would have no hesitation of recommending this cottage to anyone.

The Ring and Thimble is a luxurious yet a very cosy & warm cottage. The owners have given a lot of attention to the details of the cottage. We had a very warm welcome from the owners (as well as their pets) and spent most of our time in the cottage as we didn't feel like leaving!

This is such a wonderful place, something really special and rarely found. So much time and trouble has been taken with the cottages and they are really luxurious. Boscrowan is so close to many fabulous places in West Cornwall that you are spoilt for choice of things to do.

Elizabeth Harris replied more than 1 year ago
Well you were such wonderful and appreciative guests too! When we first began our self catering venture here twelve years ago we didn't immediately realize just how good our location was in terms of access to so many places of interest. Undeniably it is a fairly long journey to this far westerly tip of the country but once you are here you have both coasts and so many iconic places just a few miles away. It has to be worth all those miles of travel!

If you are looking for peace, tranquility, a wonderful setting and fabulous property then this is the place for you. Nothing is too much trouble for the family and I have never been to a better equipped property even down to picnic basket and rugs! We have found a real gem here and always return home refreshed but sad to leave. We have just booked again for Easter and cannot wait.
