Delightful single storey cottage with pretty secure garden sleeping up to 4 in 2 en-suite rooms. We welcome one well behaved dog as the walking from the door is wonderful and the cottage is very popular for families or couples to enjoy a real break. It is a perfect base to explore all that this lovely part of Dorset has to offer including fantastic local places to eat.

We had absolutely a perfect stay in Swallows. Everything was better than expected, maybe with the exception of the bed in the master bedroom. It is a double bed with one mattress, and it was a little hollow in the middle. We will come back.

Our third time and just as peaceful and relaxing as before. Pippa and Theresa are so helpful, supplying a shower stool for my parents.
Visits from the family dogs were great and sighting the little owl on the trees in the drive a big plus.
The electric charging point is also a bonus.

Great location while I tackled the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge. The cottage was excellent and provided a pleasant and welcoming place to relax and have a few days holiday afterwards. A very warm welcome and any help we needed was provided. Any issues were dealt with very quickly. Great to find somewhere that actually has EV charging points too! Lovely walks direct from the cottage as well as easy access to many other attractions - we can highly recommend the "Sculpture By The Lakes" - simply stunning. All in all, I can highly recommend and will certainly stay again if in the area.

Swallows Cottage is located someway down a private lane in beautiful Dorset countryside. The cottage is tastefully decorated and fully equipped and comes with a walled garden adjacent to woodland full of wildlife. The cottage is 20 minutes drive away from the stunning coastline and many quaint secluded quiet villages. We enjoyed 4 days of walking inland and on the coastline.

We enjoyed a wonderful week in Swallows Cottage. Superb location but so close to Dorchester. Cottages was very cosy and warm and the garden is beautiful. Despite the stormy weather we enjoyed some fabulous walks in the grounds and surrounding area. Swallows is very comfortable and we will certainly be returning.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay and enjoyed our time at Swallows. Easy access to various places of interest, we love Lulworth Cove and Abbotsbury Tropical Gardens. Another hidden gem Athelhampton House and Gardens with a lovely cream tea in the tea room and dog friendly. Then back to Swallows after our visits to sit with a glass of wine and put our feet up- just what the doctor ordered .

A second visit for us and just as good as the first. Perfect cottage with all needs catered for, in just the most beautiful and tranquil setting, centrally located so that everything that Dorset has to offer is within a short drive. This year the weather wasn't great, so we were particularly grateful to Teresa who offered lots of suggestions of things to do and see. At the end of the two weeks, we wished we never had to leave!

Swallows was just perfect for a quiet break. The property was of lovely decor, clean and comfortable. Beautiful garden for our dog to roam and for us to relax on the loungers. When the sun comes out it is glorious. Very quiet and relaxing (the big house was empty this week so cannot say if there would have been more noise if occupied). Surrounded by farmland, cows and horses. Only 5 min drive from main roads. And friendly owner who popped by beginning and end of holiday and were contactable if needed.

What a wonderful cottage in an idyllic setting. The cottage is well equipped and all of the fixtures and fittings are of a high quality. Teresa was so supportive from the time of booking to recommending great local pubs for eating.

The cottage is sutated in an ideal position for travelling to the coast (30 mins) and also to Dorchester, where you can find all of the usual amenities incluing a large supermarket to get all of your provisions.

The outdoor space at the cottage is a great size, large garden and patio area. Sadly, the weather wasn't warm enough to enjoy the outdoor facilities.

This was our second visit to Swallows, and it didn't disappoint. My whole party thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we would certainly come back again and I highly recommend it for people who are looking to have a luxurious base for exploring the local area.

We could not recommend swallows more highly. The level of detail of care from Pippa and Teresa was just superb. The locating and cottage is amazing we will definitely be returning. Clean well equipped and so cosy. Such a lovely place and location to visit. Couldn’t fault it.

If you want to get away from it all there is no better place to stay than at Swallows Cottage. It is so peaceful, surrounded by woods and farmland for as far as the eye can see. We love Dorset and spend most holidays in this wonderful county and so we've stayed in numerous cottages over the years, never returning to the same place twice. However, this year has changed all that. We have found our little piece of heaven and will definitely return to Swallows. Spotlessly clean, with every need catered for and centrally located so everything that Dorset has to offer is within a 30 minute drive. Considering the serenity of the place you might be surprised that the county town of Dorchester with it's museums and shops is only 5 minutes away.

A delightful cottage set back within a small enclave in otherwise open agricultural countryside. Facilities and equipment were extensive modern and clean - the kitchen area having recently been revamped and equipped was particularly good. Water pressure in the shower was impressive. Would have preferred a firm mattress but the soft-medium singles when combined proved satisfactory for us. As for location, Yes a drive away from everything - the nearest store (petrol station) is 3 miles distant and all visitor attractions, ranging upwards from 20 mins drive (nearest Abbotsbury).

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Recommended if you want a quiet break away in the countryside and particularly if either not overly bothered about touring or not concerned about having to drive everywhere.

And location is excellent with many beaches, places of interest and gardens within easy reach. A wonderful week balanced between sightseeing and very comfortable relaxation. Thanks for a lovely week. This is a perfect place for my elderly parents with no stairs and so peaceful. My parents have loved the place for years (this was the eighth time!), and now we have fallen in love with it too.
Thank you for such a lovely stay.
One tiny thing was that we got lost following the directions for the walk that takes you up the hill (first one on the handout). We missed the turning off the concrete road near the end - might be worthwhile making those slightly clearer as it doesn't really look like a path. It was fabulous to have some walks suggested and all the other directions were excellent.

We have holidayed in Swallows in February several times. The Dorset countryside is beautiful, with snowdrops in abundance, and popping up in the most unexpected places.
On a crisp spring morning we walked along the coast path and had lunch at The Smugglers Inn at Osmington for lunch, which can be recommended.
Burton Bradstock Hive Cafe can also be recommended.
Hopefully we will be able to return again next February.

A real gem - lovely location, supremely comfortable and well equipped. The owners were incredibly hospitable and helpful. Swallows is situated in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. There are interesting local walks and it's ideally situated for visiting the coast and other areas of interest.

The accommodation is cosy and comfortable, a lovely place to return to after a day out. It's furnished and decorated to a high standard, well equipped and spotlessly clean.

This was our third visit to Swallows but the first during the pandemic however we felt reassured by all the thought and care Pippa had put into making the cottage covid safe for her guests.

We're very much looking forward to returning next year.

This is our second stay at Swallows cottage and it was just as stunning as we remembered. A beautiful location, quiet and rural but still with close access to the town. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and very well equipped plus extras for kids if you need them. We had a lovely week and will definitely be back again hopefully next year.

A lovely retreat with gorgeous countryside all around.
Chesil beach is a short drive away, with quaint Dorset villages all around.
Facilities in the cottage makes your stay very comfortable.
And the bonus of the wood burner made the evenings so cosy!

Managed a few days here in September 2020. This being Covid time we were pleased with the cleaning and changes made, still giving a homely feel. Powerful showers. Lovely conversion creating a comfortable base for three of us. Weather was great so allowed us to sit outside in the nicely designed garden. Great location for a quiet break with plenty of walking opportunities (you can even walk Alpacas in a place round the corner!)
Allows for visits to the coast nearby and Dorchester etc.

The Swallows, beautiful. Quiet, private, relaxing and beautifully presented. Could not have asked for a more lovely stay, well, maybe, we should have stayed longer. The mother in law wanted to squat and never leave, it wasn’t possible unfortunately.

The two bedrooms are a good size, beds are comfortable and the decor is gorgeous. The kitchen, dining and living room is so cosy. You have all you need.

The garden is private and you can’t help be mesmerised by the variety of birds feeding. We didn’t want to leave.

Thank you for our wonderful 5 days. We will be definitely booking again.

We always so enjoy staying at Swallows. Our dog loves the area, and wonderful walks and the cottage is always spotless and so cosy with everything we need. The area is fantastic with lots to do, but we often just chill at the cottage and take a break from our hectic daily routine.

This was a visit to a new area for us. Ideal for 2 couples one of whom is disabled. Easy access to the coast. Ten minutes to Dorchester (and Poundbury); 20 minutes to Weymouth. Will come again because it was too hot to explore! We could see there were plenty things still to do.

The accommodation was set in a beautiful rural location with easy access to local amenities if required. Pippa and her team were really helpful with any queries we had. The bedrooms were an excellent size and furnished well. The living/kitchen/dining space was compact but fine for a small family of 4. Kitchen had all equipment you would need. Would definitely recommend Swallows - ideal location to explore the south west coast .

Our second stay at Swallows (the only time we’ve ever come back to a holiday destination). This time we had an additional child and the cot and high chair worked well. However it’s really worth bringing your own travel cot mattress as the standard ones are very thin and hard.
We love the peaceful location & the property has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Swallows is clean, homely and stylish. We have recommended it to many people!

We stayed in the swallows cottage during the school half term in May. The cottage provided plenty of space for my Wife and I and our two children. An added bonus was the large enclosed garden which was perfect for relaxing in the sun and watching the bird life. So peaceful too! The kids loved the tennis courts and location wise this cottage was a perfect central base point for the family attractions around Dorset. We would not hesitate in recommending this cottage to family and friends, especially those with young children. Good country walks from your doorstep too. I'm sure we will return one day.

We always enjoy staying at Swallows. The house is always very clean, beds comfortable and everything you need available.



A excellent two bed roomed cottage for a family holiday near the Jurassic coast.

The cottage and location proved to be perfect for a family break with our teenage son. Both bedrooms are en-suite.
Fantastic welcome from the hosts who are full of local knowledge and advise, and always available if needed.
The location gave peace and quite and with a private garden and fine weather we enjoyed the use of the BBQ. There are local walks in the grounds that were recommended in the welcome pack and will give the opportunity to see the local wildlife including deer.
The facilities were excellent and all our needs catered for, the WiFi is limited and not suitable for streaming, but fine for surfing.
It presented no problem and it's good to have a break and some real family time on holiday.
This is a secluded location but is still only a 10 minute drive to Dorchester. it gives a real feeling of getting away from it all without missing anything.

Swallows Cottage is a great base to explore the Jurassic coast, with everything within a short drive. A good selection of guides in welcome pack to give inspiration.

Our stay had great weather, but the cottage is very well setup for other times of years with a real fire and stacks of logs.

Thankyou for your lovely review. Sorry regarding the streaming, while the broadband is superfast, we just ask that downloading and streaming is not overly used due to the package available to us through a private provider. It is a huge plus compared to the terrible service BT provided!!! I am glad it was not a problem. We loved having you all here.

We have recently stayed here with our son and found the accommodation to be perfect for the three of us. The location is wonderful and peaceful. Very rural but with in easy reach of Dorchester. Beautiful drive way to the cottage, with pheasants. Accommodation was lovely two good size bedrooms both on suite. Nice wood burning fire. All very clean and bright. Big doors opening out to a lovely garden. The very friendly host came to greet us to check everything was okay. We really enjoyed our stay and the welcome biscuits .

This was the perfect spot for us to explore Dorset and ideal for our toddler. Beautiful walks from the front door, a lovely secluded and quiet spot and a gorgeous playground a few yards from our front door.
The cottage is beautiful decorated, very comfortable and well stocked. It had everything we needed and more so we could put our little one to bed and then have a lovely dinner and a glass of wine in the lounge.
The owners were very welcoming - there is we needed them but otherwise left us to enjoy our holiday.
We’ll definitely be back here next year!

My husband and I and two friends came to stay at Swallows for four nights in February.
The house was welcoming, clean and warm. The first evening, we cooked a four course meal, and found all the necessary requirements. Both bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable, again with our requirements fulfilled.
The weather was amazing for all five days, and we had the added bonus of the snowdrops being in full bloom in Compton Valance, the village nearby. We enjoyed a cup of tea and piece of cake in the 'pop up@ café there, and found the sense of community there quite uplifting.
We visited Lyme Regis, and Weymouth - Lunch at the Harbour Inn at Lyme Regis and the Crab House Café near Weymouth were very different but both to be recommended..
We left with heavy hearts and vowing to return again next year.

What a beautiful place! From the moment you turn into the drive you are in a different world! Beautiful scenery, rolling fields, pheasants roaming free, horses grazing freely and then you reach the cottage...private drive (gated) lovely garden to rear, 2 exceptional bedrooms (en-suite) and a warm and cozy lounge/kitchen area.

What made it extra special for us that more of our group had booked Dove House and therefore we spent time in both of these lovely properties.

We are already looking to return next year and have recommended to many friends :)

We have used Swallows on two visits to give us the extra accommodation we wanted when using Dove House and used DH for all eating and entertaining and have nothing but praise and see it as a convenient extension next door.

A wonderful stay in this delightful cottage. Our spaniel was made so welcome and she enjoyed her holiday as much as we did. Great to find a place that welcomes dogs (and people). A calm relaxing atmosphere enjoyed by all. We will be back!!!

This was our 2nd visit to Swallows and everything lived up to the promise of an enjoyable few days.
We invited friends to stay and they were very impressed.

We stayed at Swallows together with the main property Dove House. Swallows was clean, comfortable and only a short distance from the main house. It was well equipped and we had everything we needed for our stay. Thank you so much.

What an lovely place for a holiday, secluded but near to lots of beautiful beaches,villages,towns,county walks.
The cottage was perfect, beautifully furnished, well designed and very comfortable. We felt extremely welcome and we were able to walk the dog and ride bikes directly from the cottage without fear of cars whizzing by. The boys enjoyed using the tennis court and the garden was perfect for the dog. It's not often that we return to the same place but we would happily return here for another holiday. Dorset was delightful.
