This is the second time we have stayed at the Cologin Farm house for the weekend to go diving locally and it did not disappoint, the farm house is very spacious and is always clean and tidy. Due to Katie been on holiday we were looked after by Linda Katie's Mum, who was extremely helpful with any issues and very accommodating. The site is lovely and the barn bar next door is always very friendly and welcoming, so well worth a visit. We would highly recommend Cologin to anyone visiting the area and will most certainly be back next year.

We stayed for a multigenerational week celebrating my husband’s 70th birthday and we had a wonderful time. The house is spacious, warm and well equipped to accommodate all ages and big family meal times. We particularly enjoyed being able to light a log fire every evening and we loved the beauty and silence of the location. Proximity to Oban is a huge plus as is the excellent communication with the site owner. We loved this place and hope to return.

We had a lovely meal on our first evening which was very welcome after a long day of travel. Some members of our party drank in the bar several evenings and appreciated it being right next door to the farmhouse. The Barn Bar owners are delightful and doing a great job.

Me and my family have just spent a week in Cologin Farmhouse, I have to say, I would recommend it as it was an amazing place, it was so peaceful and wonderful it was spacious and even my 3 nephews loved it plenty for them to do and the dogs had plenty of space in the garden to enjoy themselves. We also had a lovely meal in the Barn , which I would recommend anyone who is staying to try it. Lastly I would like to say that Jim, Linda and Katie deserve so much credit for a wonderful holiday home and help when needed.

Cologin Farmhouse is blessed by being situated in the heart of 'God's own country!' For anybody who likes the outdoors, this is a beautiful part of the West Highlands of Scotland, within easy reach of the coastal area of Easdale. The farmhouse is spacious with adequate accommodation for a large family (we had 10 adults). Dining room, lounge and kitchen were spacious and comfortable and well supplied. The hot tub was a great place to chill out in the evening but somebody has to take responsibility to keep the wood-burner heating system well supplied!

The family who run Cologin were very kind and attended to any requests promptly and in a very friendly way.

Travelling to the farmhouse was made easy by the clear instructions on how to get there given by the owners. The house was close enough to the local town of Oban but also felt a million miles away. There were plenty of local walks (we had our dog) and heading up to the local hill loch first thing in the morning, about 30 mins away, opened up some astounding scenery. There was also some tremendous local history spanning from the Vikings, through medieval times, the Covenanters conflicts, to the impact of World War 1 on the further depopulation of local communities.

I do not want to commend this place too much as my concern is that it will become overbooked and we might miss out the next time we want to head in this direction.

Katie and the team at Cologin were extremely helpful and lovely. Katie was on hand before our trip to answer any questions, not just about the farm house but also Oban and the surrounding area.
And queries we had while we were staying there for the week, Katie was on hand to help.
We felt very welcomed, including our dog. The rooms are nice and spacious and everything you could need is there.

We visited the Barn several occasions, one being for our wedding reception and the Julie, Angus and their team were amazing! Nice selection of drinks and the food was delicious, some of the best bbq I’ve ever had.

Wow. Where can I even begin. From start to finish our stay with Cologin Farm Lodges was superior in every way. Booking was easy and payment was broken up making a group holiday easy to coordinate and affordable. Communication with Katie was second to none and she went out of her way to provide us with tips and expertise of the area, as one of our party was planning to propose while we were there, and she gave us so much advice and was so helpful in all the planning.
On arrival, the house was welcoming and inviting after a cold and stressful journey north in the midst of storms and train cancellations. The heating had been put on, logs provided for the fire and lights were signalling us inside from the rain like warm beacons! The house had been decorated for Christmas which was such a lovely touch and really made it feel even more seasonal and special.
The barn bar in the glen is an absolute treasure for locals and visitors alike, and Julie and Angus took care of us like family. They welcomed us after our long travels, helped us source last minute bits and bobs for our Christmas meal, and were always ready with a shot of tequila or a hearty meal!
The surrounding area is simply breathtaking, with a loch nearby making for glorious local walks or you can venture slightly further into the stunning surrounding areas. We went for a Boxing Day walk up Beinn Lora in the crisp winter sun and the views were simply to die for.
We couldn’t have hoped for more, and will be back for sure in years to come, bringing more family and friends to enjoy this incredibly special gem of a place and the delightful hospitality of the people who make it so incredible.

top notch food, with even better service. From local produce to hearty classics the menu really can’t do any wrong in my eyes. Julie and Angus are incredible and made us feel so welcome during the course of our stay. They went above and beyond in so many ways and we owe a large part of our enjoyment in Cologin to their hospitality.

Fantastic house, we went in December 2023 in -2 degrees and enjoyed our stay, especially with the log fire!

The views from the house are amazing - it’s a very special location surrounded by wildlife - beautiful walks from the door. The house is spacious and comfortable and has everything you need for a lovely holiday. Barn restaurant just next door was really tasty and travelling away we had spectacular days on Mull Iona and Ganavan sands

We had a brilliant stay at Cologin farmhouse from 28.8.23. It's really big and spacious...bedrooms huge too! Such a lovely house and so well stocked with everything you could possibly need...would fully recommend it. Our adult children and grandchildren were there. A fabulous comfortable base for lovely day trips to beaches, castles, little villages, boat trips to islands and to see seals. The completely fenced in garden was great for out escape artist dog too! A really lovely holiday at Cologin! Katie is really helpful and delightful. Thanks again!

We were 3 generations, 4 adults, 4 teenagers and a pre-teen. The accommodation was moree than adequate and our hosts very accommodating. The location close to Oban is ideal for the various activities within a 40 or so mile radius and afforded easy access to Ben Neviis, Mull + Scapa + Iona, Fort William and the Jacobite Ralway. The Barn was a boon with the entire group eating there on our last day. All in all a very easant stay.

Just stayed one night here. The place has big bedrooms which are beautifully furnished. We didn't use the kitchen, but it appeared to have everything you would need. There is a small decked area outside, which was handy as the weather was very warm when we stayed. We ate at the pub next door, which was very nice.

It had been many years since I stayed at Cologin but I was pleased that the welcome was still warm and friendly. The farmhouse was perfect for families to enjoy time together. The surrounding hills provided gentle walking experiences for the grandkids who loved the place. Our only issue was a loose unit door in the kitchen which eventually fell off.

We were a family of 7. 5 adults 2 children. (6 and 9). The farmhouse was more than adequate for what we wanted. I had planned a 90th birthday party for my mother who was 90,my neice who also lives in Oban joined us. I was able to use the kitchen and equipment with no problem. The dining room table was large enough to sit the 9 of us with plenty of space. I think the highlight of the holiday for the children was the play park, and being able to climb the hill beside the park. The adults enjoyed an evening in front of the log fire with a glass of wine. Katie had thoughtfully provided a bottle of wine, a very nice card and a welcome message, all waiting in the kitchen. We only stayed 3 nights, but we all wished it could have been longer.

Everything you need from a holiday home is provided. Excellent location with some pleasant walks up hills. Only 5 minutes drive into Oban.
Cologin Farmhouse has ample space for family gathering. Bedrooms spacious and lots of extra linen, towels etc.
Our host Katie went out of her way for us and she was so helpful.
Only point is hot tub. If you have never dealt with a wood burning tub before, be prepared as it can be time consuming and you need a lot of wood. I would have liked to be spontaneous with my dips but not with a wood burner.
Another good thing is location to The Barn Restaurant. Excellent rustic Restaurant and bar, serving great food. Host/Owner so welcoming.
Well worth a visit.

The farmhouse is very spacious and was immaculately clean when we arrived. The location is rural but the facilities on site are good, with the Barn Bar providing excellent meals, a small children's playground and even an electric vehicle charging point. From the site there a a number of pleasant short walks, such as to a small loch to the north and a ruined kirk to the south. Oban is a 5-minute drive (when there are no traffic jams in the town centre) to access shopping, restaurants, boat trips etc.

We have stayed here before and would definitely recommend it. We even had the added bonus of excellent weather this year, kids loved the day out at the beach. Loads of things to do, various walks including some from from the premises, sea safari.

We visited the farm house as a family group of 9 with a 2 month old baby and 3 dogs. We loved the location of the house and the beautiful surroundings. Beds were very comfy and the house was so very well equipped with everything you could need and more. We loved the hot tub and it was really simple to use as long as you're no stranger to keeping a fire going. The owners were on hand whenever needed and quick to respond to any queries. The only thing that I could suggest for improvement is that the garden isn't secure, although the owners old lab is lovely he kept wandering in and a. Pooping in the garden and b. Our dogs didn't understand that he should be there and weren't very happy about him wandering in when they weren't expecting it.

We have stayed in the farmhouse at Cologin in the past and have always enjoyed the place. Beautiful setting and the farmhouse has recently been re-decorated to a high standard.

We made use of the hot tub a few nights which was very relaxing. This year we even saw a deer a few times around the site. The Barn on site provides good food and service, which we enjoyed a few evenings.

Great place and I like the fact that the phone service is not brilliant, I actually get to have a holiday. We enjoyed a number of walks around the area and even a boat trip.

This was our first time staying in the farmhouse and it did not disappoint! The rooms are spacious and beds are very comfy. The kitchen had everything you needed and the living/dining room area was perfect for eating as a larger group. The host welcomed us on arrival and was around the whole weekend incase we needed anything. The location is ideal for walking and nipping into the centre of Oban. We were lucky with the weather and the views of the glen were picturesque. Can’t wait for our next visit...we will be back soon!

The farmhouse was warm, spacious and well equipped. There were 4 adults and 6 children and it never felt cramped. There was a lovely stove in the kitchen which dried all our wet clothes as it poured with rain all week but the countryside around Cologin was stunning for hikes and the weather didn’t matter. Lots of little streams for the kids to play in, a nice wee play park and a lovely rural location -it felt very safe for our kids to be out biking and playing in the vicinity. The barn staff were great when we ate there with our rabble one night and the food was lovely. Overall a great stay thank you

Wonderful location, only a few minutes from Oban with all th services you could need and lovely walks from th doorstep. We had everything we needed and the farmhouse was so warm and cosy.

Enjoyed our time in the farmhouse, only negative was there was no wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom and no mirror either, having the piano there was a novelty but I’d have preferred a wardrobe, nowhere to hang any clothes was not good, I believe one of the rooms upstairs didn’t have a wardrobe either. The weather was lovely but the bbq was rusty and falling apart so couldn’t be used. Love the fire. We have been to Cologin before in chalets and will return for sure, likely not to the farmhouse but that is purely due to numbers. Would recommend if your with a large party

The Barn is lovely, only thing was that we very much missed fresh fish on the menu, we ate there every night as was easier but lack of specials apart from weekend made menu tiresome. Food was good and staff were very friendly

The location of Cologin is ideal, close to Oban but far enough away to enjoy the scenery.
The house is huge and ideal for large families. The rooms are comfortable with enough bathroom for everyone to have their own.
The only down side was limited wardrobe space and no hot water upstairs. This was rectified immediately when highlighted however it only lasted for one day.
The Barn Bar was lovely and cosy with a good selection of meals.
I would definitely still return as it is a little gem of a place.

The farmhouse is an excellent place for large groups to stay. We had nine in the house and it was completely comfortable whether sitting at the table, on the sofas or sleeping. The barn bar being right next door was also a great feature. I would definitely come back. Only downsides was there were no dishwasher tablets or bin bags, If I had know before I would have brought my own along. Not a big deal as plenty supermarkets in Oban.

The barn bar was fantastic, staff were exceptionally helpful and fun. Food was excellent, much better than had expected.

It was a pity that every room needed attention no hanging space for cloths in downstairs bedroom ie wardrobe only 1 light working on bathroom mirror. Couldn't use outside space no key also dirty china still there. We had to ask for light bulbs only 2 working out of 4 in lounge. Liquidiser in kitchen smashed. Each room needed a thorough check over.

We booked the Farmhouse rather than separate lodges so that all the family were able to share kitchen, sitting room, dining room BBQ & deck etc, this also worked out well with bedrooms too.
The Farmhouse is comfortable and well appointed especially in the kitchen and everything was fully functional with the exception of the music system which could not be connected to the speakers! Wifi in the Farmhouse was OK for emails and browsing the Internet but was too slow for streaming videos etc for the kids on iPad.

The children all loved the play area and had a great holiday in the Oban area visiting the beach, several castles and also Balamory(Tobermory) on Mull.

Other than the kitchen the farmhouse was clean and comfortable. In the kitchen we had to wash all the plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, pots, and glasses that we were going to be using.Although there was a dishwasher it did not work properly leaving dishes unclean with a film in them so we could not use it. The cupboards and drawers were unclean inside therefore what we washed and cleaned we kept out. The kettle was shabby and poured of water so it could only be half filled. Coffee machine had no pot and it was still filled with coffee.Main Oven did not work wasn’t heating to correct temperature. Aga didn’t work. Kitchen could do with a thorough clean. When we went to use fire it was full of ash in and around it therefore we had to clean it before we used it. We only used the fire at night as it got cold but the firewood that was provided (two small bags) only done one and a half nights. On asking for more we were told we had to pay £5.50 for half a barrow full we had to buy another barrow and a half to keep warm for our remaining stay. While the bath water and basin water ran hot the showers ran cold.

I am sorry you appear to have problems during your recent stay. Such a shame you did not let us know that the dishwasher was not working correctly. If we don’t know, we can’t fix it! I am delighted you enjoyed your birthday meal in our pub. I am sorry you felt that £5.50 was expensive for a barrowful of logs - our information clearly states we will provide the first load but subsequent logs must be purchased. I am not sure what the problem was with your showers unless you did not have the electric power turned on, likewise not sure what your issue was with the central heating which was on when you arrived - as was the Esse. We live on site and our pub is staffed so we would have been happy to sort this issue for you rather than find out after you have left the property.

We booked the farmhouse for our party of nine family and friends as it is directly next door to the Barn Bar and Restaurant, where we held a special anniversary celebration the weekend before Christmas.
The house has such a lovely warm atmosphere and it could not have been more handy, as we only had to walk a few steps to be at our party venue.
We have stayed in lots of self catering houses over the years and found the farmhouse to be really well equipped, with everything we needed. Unlike some places, which say they cater for large groups when in reality they are too small, this place really does have the space to cope.
Friends from all over Britain joined us for our party and many of them stayed in Cologin chalets for the weekend, so the farmhouse was a perfect focal point for them to call in and see us. Everyone commented on the lovely chalets and cottage accommodation too, so all in all Cologin offers a winning combination for a big gathering.

We had asked Mary, who runs The Barn Bar, for a grand buffet for our party and grand it certainly was. The food was out of this world and was a real talking point for our guests, who were wowed at the high standard. This may be a rural country pub but I doubt we could have got a better buffet at the world's top hotels. The team went out of their way to make our celebration a night to remember!

12 of us pitched up - from 4-85 year old, plus a pug - and were delighted with the space. Huge bedrooms, bathrooms, lounge. Well equipped kitchen that allowed us to prepare all the meals we needed. Nice garden. Very comfortable beds.
The surrounding area was stunning with good walks and only minutes from Oban. All in all a terrific holiday 0 we will be back.

Lovely sized property does need some updating as wallpaper coming off ceilings. Garden needed a bit of TLC. Definitely need a car in this area as it is quite remote. Food next door in Old Barn a bit hot and miss depending on who's cooking that night.

Having trouble finding accommodation for a party of seven in Oban we were absolutely delighted to discover the Farmhouse was more than large enough for our needs. Cosy and well appointed with everything you could wish for, it was so good we cannot wait to return. Situated in a beautiful peaceful location just a few minutes from the centre of Oban, it was a wonderful find and to put icing on the cake the welcoming bar and restaurant was a pleasure to visit for food and drink without the hassle of trying to find a space in an impersonal restaurant in Oban; not to mention the lack of parking space in town. Definitely be back.

Stayed here with a group of friends from New York , had a great week , visited island of Luing, Mull, Inverawe, Kilmartin valley , Colonsay , great base for sea kayaking, walking cycling. During our stay we were provided with a talk and guided walk by Liam from Friends of Kilbride who manage a newly discovered " historical site" 10 minutes away from Cologin Farmhouse , this is worth a visit and can be arranged through Jim or Linda at the Cologin office.

Everything suited are needs perfectly. The house was the right size with a good number of bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped and we did most of our own catering enjoying convivial meals around the dining room table. The Barn was a bonus when we had longer days out with little time for cooking. The area provided lots of excursion possibilities and it was convenient to be just out of Oban but close enough for ready access to shops and ferries.

We found Cologin Farmhouse dirty and in need of a total refurbishment. All the floors downstairs were filthy. The dish towels provided were disgusting. Soft furnishings were also in need of a wash/dry clean. Two lamps did not work and an overhead bedroom light. On arrival I had to ask for a bulb for the sitting room lamp as it was missing. Our rental for a weekend was £770 and for that price I expected soap dispensers in all of he bathrooms (we had two!) and a lovely and a lovely, clean house. We were given no key to the house.

Another issue was the water supply. It went totally off, as it is a private water supply, on the Friday night and was not on when we vacated the house on Sunday at 11am.
Our complaints were recognised and we given a total refund....for which we were grateful.

Bedrooms were comfortable , bathrooms clean and adequate , sitting room was perfect but outside of farmhouse was a bit unloved and untidy with rubbish around. Would be useful if a set of basic instructions were included for the various appliances , dishwasher, washing machine central heating and hot water controls. Kitchen area was great for a large group but lacked essential items for group catering , such as non stick frying pan, sharp knives for cooking , chopping boards for vegetables and raw meat , fish slice, enough full cutlery for a group of 11, large serving bowls would be useful as would the following, milk jug , water jug, tea towels and it would be useful if there was a bit more attention to detail prior to guests arriving. When we arrived the dish washer was still full of waste water and many of the cooking pans and cutlery required thorough washing before we could use them. Jim the owner and manager was very helpful and friendly and dealt with any issues very quickly and professionally.

The family enjoyed the offered upgrade from chalet to farmhouse accommodation. The house was very roomy, particularly the kitchen, which seated 7 and bedrooms were generally well furnished and comfortable.
If I may set out the minus points, then the hot water storage system (one hot water tank) on such a large house is not adequate. In my opinion, the hot water immersion temperature control is set dangerously high. Our 3 year old Grandson, was found naked in the bathtub, wrestling with the hot water tap, which we had deliberately turned of with some force. Had he succeeded in turning on, or if an older sibling had run the hot water, then severe scalding could have occurred.
One double upstairs bedroom would have benefitted from a chest of drawers, as our smalls had to remain in our suitcase.
Games for children, ie chess etc. are incomplete, so unusable on the rainy days, therefore better removed.
The downstairs bedroom ensuite door handle and snib (does not align) require the attention of a joiner. Both Granddaughter and I received very sore fingers, when trapped between door handle and door jamb. Solution - move door handle to correct position.
Upstairs showerroom shower head needs to be removed and cleaned as partially blocked, therefore restricted flow inadequate. Toilet seat loose and requires adjusting/new fittings. Would suggest fitting lock to upstairs bathroom door to ensure privacy. Please note that the aforementioned comments are intended for Linda's assistance.

We stayed approx. 10years ago, when menu included red Thai curry, spicy prawns etc. Menu boring for adventurous diners, therefore Oban preferred.

Thank you for your detailed feedback and suggestions. It's difficult to make structural changes during the summer season but we will certainly look at moving the door handle this winter. I have turned the immersion down for the hot water - as the 4 showers are independent of the hot water tank it should be more than adequate for the two bath tubs. I am so glad that you still enjoyed your holiday.

Brilliant accommodation, only 5 minutes drive from Oban, and 10 minutes from the local dive centre, very convenient for us.
-Big, clean rooms with comfortable beds.
-Ample bathrooms for everyone, even with 9 of us getting up and going to bed at the same time.
-Central heating meant we were always warm and dry.
-Plentiful car parking space.
-Nice views.
-Barn bar good for a cheeky drink or some food when time was lacking.
-Large kitchen so cooking for a host of 9 was again no trouble.
-Help provided when needed.

Only con is that our wifi seemed to stop working toward the end of our stay, however the site wifi was still available so we weren't lost at all.

We had a fantastic week at Cologin. We stayed in the main house which was spacious and had all the important facilities. The setting proved to be perfect for our group - three families with six kids in total and a dog. In the mornings and evenings, the kids and dog played in the children's play area, in the garden, around the stream or on the grass while the adults relaxed, ate or had a drink at the bar. The site is isolated and surrounded by hills which make it private, secure and peaceful. Each day we went out exploring the area - there was plenty to do within a short drive of the site. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

We had a family break to celebrate my husband's retirement from work and were very pleased with Cologin Farm. We had 2 dogs with us and they were well catered for with great walks and no concerns about them in the farmhouse as it was wooden floors so worked well. Would recommend any time.

The cottage was ideal for all of us but especially my 94 year old father who cant climb stairs. It was a fabulous week and garden birds were a treat to watch on the feeder we put out. Its so convenient having the brilliant Barn Bar next door. My only disappointment was the fishing. After bringing all my trout gear up on the train, with eager anticipation of a fresh trout for breakfast, I found the path to the loch virtually impassable with deep slippery mud and water for half a mile or so. It was actually quite dangerous for a lone walker in such a remote place. You cant change this, i know, but it would be worth saying wellingtons are essential most of the year. I never did get to cast a fly.

I am sorry about the path to the loch - Scottish Water have contractors re-fencing the Water pumping station and their only access is by quad up the track from our farm. I have spoken to them about the state the paths are in but with such a wet winter it is inevitably going to lead to some damage - I had not appreciated how muddy the path was and will definitely advise our guests that wellies are necessary! I am glad you enjoyed your stay and next time we will make sure you get up to the loch to fish - perhaps on the back of our quad!

Our group was seven men for whom the 5 rooms provided 3 singles and two twins. There is an abundance of showering etc facilities which was welcome when we all returned together. Plenty of space and whilst no specific drying room, the kitchen boiler and plenty of hanging space ensured this was not a problem. The hosts' willingness to be last minute flexible over unforeseen arrival and departure times was much appreciated. None of us has any complaints and several asked for their thanks to be passed on. An unexpected addition was the bar with good beer and meals next door which was open at the weekend.

Booked up for a few nights away with my wife, 2 very young kids, my parents and my two dogs. We were looking for peace and quiet in a rural location.
The farmhouse was immaculately clean, very big and all the beds were comfy. The house was warm on arrival and stayed toasty while we were there.
The site was really well kept and the pub, which was a 30 second walk from the house, was well stocked, had good ale on tap and was friendly. Even my 2 black labs were made welcome and had a ball until closing time! The location is even better as although it's rural and hidden, it's only 2.5 miles away from Oban.
We had a great time and will definitely go back.

House looks a bit dated particularly outside, but it is an old farm house, so no real surprises.
It has all the amenities you would ever need and has plenty of room and is great for the dogs.
Also worth noting that phone signal is poor dependent on network, great if you don't want contacted but they have wireless which works perfectly.
Scenery and location is a joy and be prepared for a walk if you want to go fishing in the loch as its a good 25 mins up hill to get there.

Overall the visit was great and the whole family really enjoyed it and it is only a short drive to the centre of Oban

Barn Bar has a really good warm and friendly atmosphere, the prices are very reasonable and the staff were great. If you want to eat I would pre book as it gets very busy, they had musicians in on the Sunday when we were having dinner which was a great touch.

We have stayed in the Cologin Farmhouse a few times now and it is a wonderful place. The scenery is beautiful and there are loads of tings to do in the local area. We visited some of the Islands this time using the local ferries. All the people were friendly and helpful. Sleeps 12 people conformably so it a great way to catch up and spend time with family and friends.

Very relaxed and we all have a chance to unwind.

Would definitely recommend.

Cologin Farmhouse is a good quality and well appointed holiday home. The position is good and it is particularly useful being adjacent to the Barn restaurant. Our family enjoyed their stay there very much but we have the following suggestions for improvements.
1. It would have been useful to have had an introduction from the owner or manager on our arrival.
2. The taps in the kitchen were difficult to turn on and off.
3. The dish-washer did not always clean the dishes 100%.
4. Simple, basic instructions for the oven would have been helpful.
5. Dealing with rubbish was a chore and the overall system could be improved.
6. The heating system is complex and difficult to control.

Cologin Farmhouse is big - there was plenty of room for the eight adults and five children in our family group. The kitchen is well equipped with an Esse range as well as a cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, toaster etc. The dining room comfortably seated all of us. The comfortable lounge has freesat tv and there's WiFi for £10 a week - there seemed to be no mobile netwaork coverage around the area but there's a landline phonebox.next door.
There's a nice little playpark for the kids and the area is quiet and safe. We had a great comfortable week's family holiday there and can thoroughly recommend it.

The house was very well kept and the set up of the barn being so close was great. The staff were very helpful over our stay in fact i left a wallet and passport behind. When contacted they were very helpful in finding and returning these items to where i had moved on to. Since our stay several friends have booked up for weekends in the future with their kids and families. Close to Oban but with onsite facilities including live Scottish music and great food in the pub and a play area for the kids.

We had booked the farmhouse for a family holiday, the space and number of bedrooms was ideal. I was slightly disappointed that there was only 1 game and we had to go into Oban to buy some, our group isn't into jigsaws which were available. The location was ideal, close to Oban but in a rural setting, we enjoyed several walks. everyone we met was very helpful and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and would recommend the farmhouse to others.

Sorry you did not find enough games in the farmhouse - there is a whole trunk of them in the Barn Bar for guests of all our properties to borrow as they require. I will make sure our welcome folder is updated with that information - sadly we don't leave games in our properties now as too many are packed along with the luggage! Having a central supply seems to work much better, but of course that's not much good if you didn't know where to find them! Glad you enjoyed the house - it is very popular with many repeat customers who appreciate it's size and homely character.

Really think this property is overpriced for the area.
We paid for the wifi then could rarely use it as it rarely worked.
Complete lack of information in property as to where things were, bins etc. We finally found sheets of paper with some info on it, this was in a mess in between the games boxes. Ideally this should be checked and on view in hall for each new client.
We had trouble drying washing. A clothes airer and washing line would be handy!
Some of the bathrooms had no working locks, not ideal when you have different family groups sharing!
We had to clean quite a lot of the oven dishes and trays before we could use them.
The dishwasher made the dishes even dirtier!!!
Oh and maybe better signs as to where the reception is, got a wee bit fed up with folk coming to our cottage door cos they thought it was the reception!
As an extended family, we hire holiday cottages every year in different areas of Britain. Cologin was the most expensive, we normally pay around the £10000 mark for 5 bedrooms during July so to pay £16000 we were expecting something special, sadly this was not worth the extra money. The site looked tired and messy.

We stayed in the Farmhouse and found it was perfect for our purposes. There was plenty of room- and loads of bathrooms which were much appreciated after a long day at sea. We had a bit of difficulty with some of the kitchen appliances, but overall rate the accommodation very highly. It was also great to find a place which allowed us to take our dogs.

Rooms are comfortable and the layout is fantastic. Lovely surroundings . Idyllic , secluded situation but close to main roads for other local attractions. Well equipped for the number of people with well appointed patio. As a group of friends we found the accommodation very suitable with regard to the layout of the bedrooms and number of bathrooms. Kitchen well equipped however, gas hob needs a little care and attention,( which we will mention to the owners before we go). The Barn Bar next door has food , which we did not try, but really handy if you don't want to cook or drive. No noise at all was heard from the bar in the house. Super dark skies for star gazing.
Post Script to the above which we drafted at the end of our stay before loading up the car to leave.
Before leaving we brought some matters to the owners attention which had caused some nuisance value. We were though disappointed with the owners response. She dismissed feedback about bedroom curtains not screening out daylight effectively (on very large bedroom windows) as insignificant. For us, being woken at the crack of dawn on a non-work day / having a relaxing weekend break was pretty unwelcome. If you wouldn't like this either this may not be the best property for you. I should say though that I found this in the bedroom I slept in and don't know about the others. We also had problems with the water being scalding hot and then too cold as a result of having turned the water tank off because it was unusably hot. The owner explained that the water was usually heated by the 'Esse'? and the inference was that this would have provided comfortable temperatures. Suggest it would be worth checking in advance / on arrival to know what you need to do to avoid problems with water temperature. Similarly the heating controls were not clear, which meant we were too hot at night and we also found the oven controls unclear (this included a chef among us) which meant we had a very late dinner one evening, missing the music night in the barn as a result!. All of which we had taken in our stride, without major concern. We would though have hoped for a better response from the owner and assurance to address for the future. In the absence of which, although it was otherwise a good property in a great location we are unlikely to return or to recommend without giving the above information.

The curtains are fully lined and good quality! All of the bedrooms face East and we have never ever had a guest complain about waking up in the morning to sunshine! As you have said in your review the problems that you had with the water temperature were due to someone in your group changing the settings - which cannot be done when the Esse is on. We take all feedback seriously and as soon as you had departed we had the plumber out to check the water and heating system and he could find no faults with it. I am not sure why you had a problem using the cooker as it is a very simple oven, but we are considering putting a larger cooker into this property as in the summer guests do request that the Esse is turned off - which leaves just one oven in the kitchen. There was a problem with the gas hob - the rings had not been put back on properly after cleaning. As we live on site, any issues such as this could have been resolved immediately. I am of course pleased that you had a good break despite everything and I do hope you will return to Cologin in the future.

A great property but could do with a deep clean and a few things fixing. We were here a year ago and the same things are still broken. I would say in the current condition thus is good 3 star property but not the 4 stars it claims.

Thank you for your feedback - it is an issue that we are aware of, however, trying to get access to the farmhouse which has proved an incredibly popular letting property has meant that some things have had a temporary 'fix' and we have now scheduled a major refurb for this spring. Part of the problem appears to be too many folk staying in a house that is not designed to accommodate more than 10 adults and this season we will be more rigourous in enforcing this condition as it does mean that the wear and tear is worse than it should be. I hope you enjoyed your stay at Cologin and the next time you visit you will see some improvements!

Our sixth year here with our family. We love location in Glen with pub next door. The children love the music session on Sunday afternoon. The house is needing a bit of upgrade. one or two beds getting " tired " and there are a few minor repairs needing done. However everything a family requires for cooking, showering and comfort are here. We will be continuing our yearly trip for many years to come. Looking forward to next year already.
