This stylish Grade II-listed barn conversion is a real treat for a family of four or two couples with babies. It's a peaceful, rural idyll but with an excellent child-friendly pub a short stroll away and many coastal towns and beaches within an easy drive.

The barn's interiors are tasteful and contemporary but sensitive to the original features and come with added luxury in the form of top notch bed linens, a huge comfortable sofa and elegant ensuite shower rooms attached to both bedrooms. The open-beamed ceilings give the barn a light and airy feel, whilst contemporary prints on the walls and comfortable modern furnishings bring it bang up to date.

Mini guests will love discovering the stash of toys, games and arts materials suitable for all ages, along with buckets and spades for fun-filled days on the many beaches within 20 - 30 minutes drive. Outside, the raised garden boasts glorious rural views best enjoyed with a chilled glass of wine and BBQ (provided) whilst junior plays with the kiddies' water table.

The single-storey design makes this ideal for crawlers and toddlers, with no need for stairgates. Plus, a useful list of baby kit (see fast facts) ensures parents can pack light and relax on arrival. Speaking of relaxing, the award-winning gastro pub 'the Turk's Head' is only a few minutes pleasant stroll away and has lovely gardens with outside seating and a kiddies menu with all the usual favourites - perfect for a sunny Sunday lunch or early evening supper. It also offers take-away if grown ups fancy a special treat at home when little ones are tucked up in bed. Added to that, there's a lovely farm shop and cafe within about 10mins walk offering breakfast, brunch and lunch, plus delicious local produce and wine to take home and enjoy during the evenings.

All in all, its hard to a imagine a more relaxing rural retreat with tots in tow!

We had a wonderful stay with our 3 month old baby. Whilst there isn’t much to do in the village itself (the pub was closed during our stay), the barn is very close to lots of great river / sea side towns to potter around. The barn is very modern with a lovely little garden at the back which is extremely peaceful. The owners were very accommodating and gave us a cot and baby bath to use. My only point to flag would be that the double bed backs onto the kitchen and so if your baby still sleeps in your room and goes to sleep before you cook dinner you just have to be slightly conscious of banging around too much. We would definitely recommend the Cartlodge and I could see us returning in the future.
