Delighted to have found this wonderful cottage near to Clifden town, which happened to be available for a last minute short stay during peak tourist season. As it happens the cottage has only recently reopened for holiday letting following some upgrades, and this was very evident throughout. Pre arrival communication and check in was seamless. The cosy cottage was clean and warm and the views from the living room and bedrooms are truly beautiful. The cottage was well equipped with everything I needed for my stay. A real home from home. I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property and I plan on returning again very soon.

Special Place but needs some work, especially in these times of concern,

We had a wonderful stay in your cottage from Sunday 9th August through to Friday 14th. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and the views spectacular, but there are a few things that I need to bring to your attention.

First off, there is no information before booking, on the state of the road to the property. The first communication on the road itself is after payment. "Note: There is a long bumpy road down to the property so take care on approach." this Note does not cover how poor the final part of the road to the property is. I don't drive an 4x4 or an SUV and experienced the under-carriage of my car scraping stones on several occasions, even though I was travelling in 1st gear. Secondly briars etc need to be cut back as they scraped the side of my car, so much so, I took a walk specifically to break back some of the offending plants.

We were pleasantly encouraged by the emails of reassurance before we traveled around the extra steps around Cod etc. However, On entering the cottage, there was a damp/musty smell which I thought was strange considering a party had checked out on the previous day.

There was a sign on the table stating that the property was cleaned and sanitised as per covid guidelines, which was encouraging.

However, the cutlery, crockery and glasses appeared to be wiped rather than washed. You could see the rub marks on the cups and glasses. I put everything into the dishwasher before we used them, and they were perfect.

The bathroom had a very strong smell of urine, which was difficult to get rid of, even following a clean.

I accept it is a remote country property but it is in real need of a good clean. The dirt around the edges of the kitchen, including at the bottom of the presses is not acceptable, pre or post covid.

The filter/water tank in the dryer was completely blocked and we had to clean and empty it, again something that should be done on a regular basis, especially for safety purposes.

It also needs a bench for outside. The house would benefit from some outdoor furniture. The bench that is there is so brittle from the weather, it is in danger of collapse, so not safe to sit on, which meant bringing a kitchen chair outside.

This cottage could be really perfect, with a good clean, a lick of paint and a tidy up outside.
