Great location to explore so many beautiful walks and lovely to come back to the hot tub and games room afterwards. Easy drive into Church Stratton for shops and pubs.

Our stay was lovely and the property is more than you could ask for .
Everything you need in the property we even had shopping delivered .
The only disappointment was the location as I have two dogs and there are lanes after lanes and they are very narrow and you have to watch for cars .
The hot tub was lovely but I think the shrubs could have been cut back as it was quite untidy .

All in all we had a lovely few days .

The property was located in a quiet rural location, if you are not keen on driving country roads this may not be for you. We come from Devon so are used to it! Properety was as described, well equiped. Directions provided were very good to locate the property. Lots of birds around the property (well it is the country) so if like my daughter in law they scare you then just be aware. We didn't have a problem and enjoyed watching them come and go.Enjoyed a relaing break and visited several National Trust properties which were not that far from the property.

Great location to explore the countryside by foot. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings.
On a rainy morning we used the gym and games rooms to entertain ourselves.
We would recommend Westhope cottages for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

What a fantastic little find! We had a wonderful stay, the house was spotless the extra touches with the cake, wine and doggy treats are lovely, really felt like it was home from home. The hot tub was very clean and the outside shower was such a fab idea! Our only find was the mattress upstairs is a little worn in the middle so you feel the dip and a spring when you turn over, this isn’t a negative point by any means and didn’t effect our stay, can’t wait to return thank you for a little hidden gem

We booked Westhope Country Retreats as a base to explore Shropshire and Herefordshire, and it’s perfectly located for that. The Old Cowshed is a lovely barn conversion, perfect for us as a family with tween kids and with all the amenities we could need. Chloe and her team were really helpful and responsive, and the cottage was beautifully clean with everything provided when we arrived, even down to a lovely home-made cake. I would highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay in Shropshire.

We had a very enjoyable break this week despite the British weather !!

It was the fourth time we have holidayed at Westhope Country Retreats, having stayed in Troopers Barn twice, and Turnip once previously.

I would like to suggest that you consider fitting a door curtain across the front door and window in the Old Cowshed providing privacy when leaving the bedroom on the ground floor and crossing the hallway.

Thanks again from arranging a lactose free lemon drizzle cake which was superb and greatly appreciated.

Excellent quiet rural location, giving access to plenty of local walks. Accommodation was clean, well equipped and the heating system was excellent. We actually had to turn the heating down each day! Site is well laid out with ample parking.

The cottage is stunning and really well furnished. The accommodation is down a quiet winding road but that was not an issue and shouldn't put anyone off, the locals drive slow and carefully. Hot tub is a great option and was lovely. Two minor issues, the TV reception is poor often loosing picture and sound with no BBC 1 or 2 upstairs. Didn't miss TV much though. And the cooker dial markings have rubbed away. Please don't let these put you off the cottage. What 3 words give pin point directions to the cottage.

A family group of 14 stayed in the Old Farmhouse, the Wain House and the Old Cowshed for Christmas 2023 and had a fantastic time. All three cottages were beautifully decorated for Christmas and the welcome packs including mince pies, mulled wine, festive chocolate and a jug of milk really set the tone for our stay. All the cottages have been renovated to a high standard with quality fixtures & fittings and attention to detail. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable for 4/5 people and its courtyard very private. Some reviewers have made negative comments about the location and the mobile phone signal but you only have to look its location on a map to realise that it will live up to its name as a country retreat. The countryside is hilly so the mobile signal will be poor and also, the roads narrow, non of those things are Westhope's fault. The owners and staff were not intrusive but always available if needed. For us, the many and varied walks from the doorstep were a major bonus. The WiFI in the Old Cowshed was very good. Overall, an excellent cottage for our Christmas break, our only criticism would be that the beds were a bit hard for our old bones.

Quite a remote location down narrow windy lanes. Accommodation was quite luxurious especially upstairs and hot tub was a nice addition. The enclosed garden was excellent for staying with dogs. The cottage was well equipped and the cake, wine and milk was a nice touch. Phone signal and wifi not so good.

House lovely but could have done with heating on as it was cold. Couldn't find instructions on how to activate.
Directions - we used the directions from a previous visit because the ones I was sent this year had a crucial section missing and we got lost.

Fifteen of us have just been staying at ‘The Olde Cowshed’ & ‘Troopers Barn’ for family celebrations & had a great time. Both properties were well equipped & very comfortable. The hot tubs & games room were also an added attraction & we also managed to enjoy some walks. I found Lauren & Chloe very helpful & friendly on making the booking. We thought the cake, wine & chocolate was a very welcome gesture on our arrival.

There were 4 adults in our party, which despite this accommodation not being very spacious on the ground floor, only presented an issue in the kitchen, where 2 was pretty much the limit. Everywhere was very clean and well equipped. It was nice having a games room where we played table tennis (the table badly need a new net), pool (50p per play), and table air hockey (the table is very tired). I recommend taking your own table tennis equipment though, as the supplied equipment was extremely basic. The hot tub was great, but for some reason would not allow us to set a temperature over 37 degrees, but as the weather was sunny during our stay, wasn't an issue. There really isn't an views from the property, unless you look over the roofs from the 1st floor, as it is surrounded by large farm buildings. But if it is peace and quiet you seek, you'll get it here.

Enough space for a family of four, nice hottub, well applied kitchen, quiet, excellent location.

However, both couches are wobbly on their legs, the beds are too short for people of 1.90 and the washing machine wreaked havoc on our clothes.

All in all a good stay with some flaws.

My family and I enjoyed a lovely few days for an intergenerational break for my 50th birthday. Everything was lovely, clean and we had all we needed. We went to the Ragleth for my birthday lunch, which was perfect and had lovely takeaways from Taste n Eat and Fryer Freeman.
My only suggestions would be to please provide extra towels or robes for the hot tub and some instructions on how to control the heating in the cottage, as it was very warm. The 9.30 check out is also very early, especially when we had to fill the dishwasher before we left! Such a lovely cottage though. Thank you.

we had a great time!! the Barn was brilliant over all. loved the Victoria sponge cake, wine and chocolate, the added essentials all really unexpected and a lovely welcome.
Bath was out of this world. loved the space in the garden with the hot tube and added our door shower. our dogs loved it, we felt very relaxed and refreshed.
the only notes I would add -
1. up dated tv's and tv in all bedrooms
2. sign on the barn for the games room
3. when having more than one car more parking so not blocking anyone in
4. issues with the lock on the front door

We've stayed in two properties at Westhope Country Retreats now- and both have been great. Very well maintained, comfortable cottages. The hot tubs are fab! The games room is also a fun addition. Surrounded by lovely countryside with walks from the door, or a short drive to nearby towns and bigger walks or bike rides. A lovely part of the country to explore.

Second time round for my wife and I to visit with friends. Very pleasant stay with a relaxing environment made better by the private hot tub with each property. Very welcoming on arrival with wine n cake left n staff of complex couldn't do enough to make u feel welcome n reporting any problems with the property. We had a lovely time during our stay. Home made Victoria sandwich and bottle of wine on arrival. The hot tub was fantastic, the kids and adults enjoyed it. A well kept and well stocked cottage with a great layout. Spotlessly clean on arrival with some lovely welcome gifts. Perfect for our family of 4 plus dog. We loved the hot tub and games room, while Nora the cocker spaniel loved the location with walks on the doorstep. This beautifully restored barn has been turned into a warm and welcoming holiday cottage.

We have stayed at Westhope Country Cottages for our annual family gathering three years running as it is so good.
The accommodation is perfect for our large extended family group and we usually book 3 or 4 cottages which works really well.
There's plenty to do in the area, the cottages are very clean, well equipped and furnished to a high standard and the welcome pack is much appreciated - especially the homemade cake!

We recently had an excellent stay at Westhope Country Retreat. We stayed at the Old Cow Shed as part of a large family group celebrating a birthday. The cottage was beautiful; cosy yet spacious and had everything we could need. It was lovely having our own private hot tub and the additional touch of home made cake, drink, chocolate etc to welcome us was very thoughtful. The children loved the games room. It was ideal for a large family gathering as we were able to stay in our own cottages but meet up in the largest accommodation. It was very dog friendly and the enclosed field opposite was ideal for letting the dogs have a run around. It is quite isolated and can be difficult to find initially (especially at night time) but I would definitely return again.

Wonderful, relaxing stay. Great setting. Loved the cottage, the facilities were excellent including the games room, hot tub and barbecue. Great attention to detail. Overall the whole place looked loved and cared for which made us feel looked after too. Dogs being welcomed huge tick. Email enquiries answered promptly, Plenty of useful information in the cottage. We were 2 parties from the same family. Both of our cottages, The Wain House and The Olde Cowshed were spotless and furnished to a very high standard. They were both well equipped and had enough furniture to accommodate all of us on reciprocal visits. The views from the cottages of the surrounding rural areas were excellent - so quiet, but there are also many lovely towns and facilities to visit within a few miles. We found the Park and Ride in Shrewsbury as an excellent way of seeing a beautiful town. The hot tubs were a very welcome addition to the resources and were checked/maintained daily by discreet staff. In addition, the cottages represent excellent value for money at a time when holiday let prices are exorbitant and not necessarily to the same high standard.
We did not have the need of Customer Service and have therefore marked it with a score of 5 as there is no ‘NOT APPLICABLE’. In our case, I do feel sure that any issues would have been kindly addressed. We would certainly not hesitate to visit once more.

The accommodation is visually attractive, comfortable, and clean. The sheep , the scenery and the house martins contribute to a delightful atmosphere. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
However some concerns did take the edge off things: (a) hot tub switched itself on & woke us up @ night & there were no instructions how to stop it; (b) no instruction how to use the dishwasher; (c) the video emailed before our stay featured a site 'phone, but this has been removed, and mobile 'fone signal was poor or non-existent, so there is no way to get help in an emergency; (d) inadequate sound-proofing twixt Olde Cow Shed & Turnip House meant we were woken in the small hours by shouting and music on the Saturday night, and (e) the kamikazi approach of local drivers in the very narrow approach lanes (especially the 2 miles southwards) did make using Westhope as a centre for touring Shropshire things rather hairy.

The hot tub was the icing on the cake and much appreciated after long walks in the hills. The location is glorious and there looks to be a network of footpaths to explore so we are determined to come back again !!

Really recommend staying here it's beautiful place super clean and in a lovely location for peace and quiet.

We stayed for 2 nights with some friends and our baby. The owners were so helpful before texting in regards to having baby essentials. Everything was there we didn't have to take anything with us (even baby gates if needed). Sending maps for the walks so we could pre plan before we arrived. There was a lovely cake and bottle of wine on arrival.. it was just the perfect stay. The hot tub was the cherry on top of the cake made the stay perfect! We are so grateful

I booked 3 properties with Westhope Country Retreats; The Milking Parlour, The Turnip House and The Old Cowshed for my wife's 40th birthday. My party consisted of 19 family members ranging from 3 to 73 and two dogs. Every single member (including the 3 year old) commented on how much they loved the properties. Each property was clean, pleasantly furnished, fully equipped, warm, cosy, welcoming and ideal for families. The kitchens contained all of the appliances and utensils you would expect and more - it's not often you find kitchen foil, cling film and seasonings provided by a holiday accommodation. There were lots of nice touches ranging from the welcoming Christmas trees, mince pies and mulled wine to the little doggy treats. There was plenty of activities to keep the family entertained with the hot tubs, a generously equipped games room and a small gym. Whilst there was no treadmill in the gym, there was sufficient equipment for a good workout and the beautiful countryside provided plenty of opportunities to stretch your legs. The final icing on the cake would have to be the staff who were warm, welcoming and hugely accommodating. There is no cellular signal in the area which can be a pain but the provided WiFi is strong and sufficient for internet calls. I thoroughly recommend these properties and will certainly be rebooking.

This was all it promised to be, Mr Dudley our Dalmatian has developed a fear of fire works in his later years and this location was ideal. Not a single fire work was heard. The owners even put a message out saying fire works were banned.

We very much enjoyed our stay in The Old Cowshed - very comfortable, clean and warm! From our doorstep we were able to go directly on long walks. But it was the peace and tranquility that hit us most - on our first day we went for a 3 hr walk and saw 2 cars!! All we could hear was bird song - a total joy.

We stayed here for 6 nights. The company itself are highly professional and provided detailed information and followed-up, in stages, as the date for our stay drew closer. The videos and photos provided were wonderful but reality of the beautiful accommodation super ceded. Extremely spacious, well-equipped, lovely and warm (even without the heating on), light, airy, clean and homely. We had a chance to speak with the a housekeepers, who were so helpful and allowed us to look around another property, which had been vacated. During the warmer months, the lovely patio area, provides outdoor dining, BBQ and privacy. The file of further information on the surrounding area is up-to-date and includes, restaurants and other amenities within proximity, as well as farther afield. There is even a number for a local mechanic, should you need one! Above all this, it’s the tiny details, too many to mention, that have been thought about. Trying to think of some little detail or item that had not been provided, almost left us beaten….. perhaps a shoehorn for boots Thank you Westhope, for a wonderful stay. We thoroughly recommend you and we shall certainly be returning.

As before, a friendly welcome and we had a great four nights. It's an ideal place from which to explore the beautiful local south Shropshire countryside on foot and by bike. There is a safe place for the bikes and care taken to provide boot scrapers and a tidy place to store them. Being there in the Spring was very refreshing; we were so lucky that local pubs were opening up too.

Everything worked well and a way has been found to retain the homeliness and comfort but not compromise Covid safety requirements. The cottages feel as if they are well managed and their design makes the most of old beams, woodwork and bricks.

It was great this time to sit out in the evening sunshine and enjoy a glass of wine - a nice contrast to the christmas lights when we visited in December.

Detailed information provided before the holiday, we were quite clear about what we needed to take and what was provided. Easy to find the place and once we were there we were very impressed with the cottage we had booked. Extremely clean and has everything we needed. It was perfect for us, three adults, two children and two dogs. Everywhere was very clean and there was cake, wine and chocolate waiting for us. A great base to explore the surrounding area. Highly recommend.

What a lovely welcome on a grey mid December afternoon. Not only a twinkling Christmas tree but a beautiful red leaved poinsettia too (and that was not all).

The cottage was beautifully appointed with everything we needed and so warm. Covid aware, but in a sensitive and sensible way.

Lovely countryside to walk and cycle with, even in ‘Covid times’, pubs and restaurants with good fare and ales on the way.

Curious alpacas in the fields across the way to pass the time of day with and a great host, Marianne. Thank you.

The cottage was beautiful set out well with everything you need, the area was wonderful the dogs loved it, it was very clean the owner should be proud of what she has achieved, she is friendly and very pleasant to talk to, we will be going again next year

Lovely cottage, decorated to very high standards and has everything you would need. Nothing has been forgotten here.
