Great customer service before we even arrived, emails with clear directions, a list of exactly what the cottage was equipped with to expect and a video about how to use hot tub. Day before arrival courtesy phone call to check if we had any questions or additional needs not already covered all of which was very reassuring we were going to have a smooth arrival. Once arrived we had a great stay in a beautifully presented, clean and well equipped cottage. There was a warm welcome with wine, chocolate and cakes ready for our arrival along with milk, tea and coffee for a cuppa. We were travelling with teenagers/ young adults and we all enjoyed the hot tub, games room and peaceful walks from the cottage. Plenty to do nearby too with visits to Shrewsbury for some shopping, Ludlow for a mooch and look around the castle and a lovely evening at National Trust Croft Castle for a Christmas event. We would definitely stay again!

Lovely accommodation apart from stairs from bedrooms to bathroom upstairs, beds very comfy.
Extra touches very nice, wine chocolate, cake.
Provisions provided also clever idea, you always forget something
Hot tub of course was enjoyed by all.

Lovely cottage. I went with my husband and 3 children aged 9,7 and 2! We all found it the cottage comfortable and clean and just what we needed.
The owners let us a lovely lemon drizzle cake and bottle of wine and some of their very own milk from their cows.
Lots of things to do around the area some are 30-50 mins drive but perfect days out. We would definitely recommend the Shropshire sculpture park and the carding mill valley amazing views, reservoir to walk and take a dip in.
Will most definitely be visiting their cottage again.

We had a lovely week at the Wain house. Pre holiday information was very good and everything was as expected. However, there are a couple of pointers.
There were only 5 outside chairs and we were a party of 6 adults.
The kitchen was exceptionally well supplied with equipment but this meant there was no place to store food.
That said the games room and hot tub were great and the whole complex was spotless

The house was lovely, really clean and comfortable. Just a few little things would have really made a difference. There were a lot of midges about so some citronella candles would have been a great touch for outside so we could enjoy the jacuzzi a bit more. The games room was great but did need air con or fans as it got a bit warm. Also the water pressure in the showers was very low. The cd player didn’t work. These are just little things and seems picky but would make a big difference. The check in and check out times are also a bit harsh. It means you only really get one full day and an evening. Check out at around11am may be better especially on a Sunday so we could have had time for breakfast before we left. Check in was very late too so we didn’t really get much time to enjoy the house once we had shopped and unpacked etc. saying that, it was a great place and we would stay again and amazing value for money.

We stayed at the Wain House with friends; we had 2 young children and 2 dogs and all had a fabulous stay!

The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The hot tub was a great addition. Everything was comfy, clean, and well presented on arrival; can’t fault anything at all.

We arrived to wine, chocolate & freshly made cake which was a lovely touch. Also, the communication on the lead up to our stay was fantastic, including a very detailed list of things already in the cottage which was so useful, and an introductory video a couple of days prior to arrival. Everything provided was very clear and detailed, e.g. directions to the cottage etc, which again was very helpful.

The only things I would suggest that could be improved were the showers and the wifi. None of which affected our stay, but could have been better.

I would 100% book to stay again and recommend to family/friends! Thank you for a fabulous stay.

We stayed at The Wain House for our friend's 50th celebrations. Amazing place, clean, loved the welcome pack and the hot tub was the best we have ever been in.

This cottage is the perfect home away from home. The property is beautiful, clean, spacious and thoughtfully presented with comfortable furnishings and cooking amenities. The hot tub was spacious and amazing! This property was the highlight of our time away. The gym and games room were well maintained and stocked. Getting to the property can be tricky due to narrow country roads which are liable to flooding however we had no issues despite recent flooding. The property is close to Ludlow and the Shropshire Hills, amongst other notable locations. There are many great pubs and eateries nearby which the hosts detail in the welcome pack. The owners are easily contactable if you have any queries or requests. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would recommend it to groups looking for a home away from home in the country side.

A family group of 14 stayed in the Old Farmhouse, the Wain House and the Old Cowshed for Christmas 2023 and had a fantastic time. All three cottages were beautifully decorated for Christmas and the welcome packs including mince pies, mulled wine, festive chocolate and a jug of milk really set the tone for our stay. All the cottages have been renovated to a high standard with quality fixtures & fittings and attention to detail. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable for 6 people and its courtyard enclosed with a hot tub. Some reviewers have made negative comments about the location and the mobile phone signal but you only have to look its location on a map to realise that it will live up to its name as a country retreat. The countryside is hilly so the mobile signal will be poor and also, the roads narrow, non of those things are Westhope's fault. The owners and staff were not intrusive but always available if needed. For us, the many and varied walks from the doorstep were a major bonus. The WiFI in the Wain House was very good. Overall, an excellent cottage for our Christmas break, our only criticism would be that the beds were a bit hard for our old bones.

The house is very comfortable, warm, well equipped, nicely decorated, and more than we were expecting. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well.
The customer service is excellent and the information and guidance before we stayed was better than we could have asked for. We will definitely be rebooking for next year.

The cottage was amazing and in such a lovely quiet area. We loved the little touches of a homemade cake, chocolate and wine. All of these went down very well with the 4 of us. The cottage and hot tub were both very clean and tidy and we will definately be coming back.

Thank you to everyone at Westhope for making our Fathers 70th birthday celebrations so special. The cottages were perfect and so cosy. We were so pleased with the facilities and the whole family (ages from 9-70) had the best time ever. We made memories that will last a life time.

Location is great and so peaceful.
Property itself has everything you need to have a great time.
Really well kitted out and this time the tv has been updated to a smart tv.
Games room is rubbish with everything either broken or with parts missing.
Gym section is decent and will keep you ticking over.
Hot tub is great and everyone loved it.
Unfortunately though there is massive issues with wasps and huge hornets around site.
Couldn’t sit out without an army of wasps coming for a feed.
Totally spoilt our holiday as kids were terrified non stop.
Waste compound for site is located 5.m from garden and was swarming with wasps.
No pest control in place to deal with this and I manager did say there had been high levels of complaints about wasps previously.
Then at night it was the attack of the hornets that appeared that we’re attracted by lights outside when we tried to sit out and use hot tub.
Wasps and hornets also accessed property at night as we had to have a window open due to heat.
Unfortunately I didn’t think about saying anything before it was too late and we ended up leaving early.
Stayed here before and it was great and wasp issue was treated after I located the nest site.

What a beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings. Far more than a holiday let, it truly was a home from home. The decor was beautiful, the beds and sofas were comfy and the hot tub was fantastic.
The only downsides were, there were a few too many cobwebs for my kids and the shower pressure was pretty much a trickle.

Games room very handy although needs updating as some tabletop games broken or worn - only one ball for table tennis eventually found on very messy shelves, which were very disorganised.

The house is in the most beautiful remote setting, admittedly it was more remote than we had anticipated but that meant no traffic noise and only the sound of birds tweeting and sheep baa'ing as noise. The house itself was beautifully decorated and laid out, we travelled with three teenagers and had plenty of room, the gym and games room proved useful for
entertaining them. The hot tub was the largest we have ever had, and we always make that a priority. Lovely walks on the doorstep and great pubs within a short drive after a big hill walk.

We booked the Wain House for a Mothers Day weekend break. The house itself is really nice, with plenty of comfortable seating and a very spacious hot tub. We have visited before and enjoy the location.

Check in times are 7pm and checkout 8am which is the worst we've ever experienced, even since covid.

The house could of been cleaner..especially the plates & cutlery. Lots of dirty things in the cupboard.

Generally a nice peaceful stay and my mother enjoyed it, which was the most important thing.

We stayed in The Wain House, as part of a large group booking in order to celebrate our grandchildren's 18th Birthday, along with other numerous family members. We found The Wain House to be extremely welcoming and well appointed with quality fixtures, accessories and furniture. The availability of its own hot tub was an added bonus, and the shared games room was much appreciated and well used by all the children in our group! Thank you for the generous welcome pack, and the well stocked incidentals that saw us through the weekend. All in all a lovely property in a fabulous location. We highly recommend.

We absolutely love Westhope retreats, always so clean, and in a really lovely setting. We always appreciate that the hot tubs are at 38 degrees when we arrive too, as we love jumping in on arrival. Kitchen is always well equipped and the bathrooms and linen always immaculately clean. The games room is a nice touch too, although some new table tennis balls are needed :). Thanks for another great stay. A WhatThreeWords for the joining instructions would also be a good idea for the cottage exact location.

We had a fantastic family Christmas reunion at the Wain House. It was comfortable for 6 adults ( and 2 labradors!!), with lots of great walks from the door. Kitchen was really well equipped & it was a lovely touch that they had put up a Christmas tree.
The hot tub was another lovely addition. Would highly recommend & we will definitely return.

Beautiful Barn perfectly situated for visiting Ludlow and local areas. Perfect + with the hot tub! Very cosy in the evenings. Comfortable and clean. Would definitely return. Didn't get time to use the games barn Housekeeping more than helpful, nothing too much trouble. Cheerful and caring. Slept perfectly and didn't want to go home. Only negative was the amount of dead flies, but have stayed in barns before where this is a problem and seems you are doing all you can to combat this. A recycle bin in the kitchen would be useful.

Lovely house in the country,but near enough to visit lots of beautiful places.
Comfortable accommodation, with everything you could ask for and more.
Nice walks from the doorstep.

We left feeling totally relaxed.

Our only constructive criticism would be the cupboards are so well stocked with pots/ pans and tableware that we struggled to put our food away!! ( Maybe a nice larder cupboard by the freezer)
Matching cutlery...and not watered down washing up liquid.

However none of this effected our breakaway.

My four friends and I stayed at the Wain House for Halloween weekend for my 30th Birthday and we enjoyed it immesley. The house is stunning, the hot tub is huge and the beds are probably the comfiest I've ever slept in. Its nicely located and we went to Ludlow for the day, but you could just as easily stay in and soak up the rural location.

My only qualm was the check in/out times. We felt like 4pm was a late check in considering we had to leave by 9.30. I totally understand that the house has to be cleaned but it is in the guidelines to clean the house and strip the beds so I thought the checkin/out times were quite harsh. But it didn't dampen the weekend as a whole!

We enjoyed our stay. Lovely location. Cottage warm comfortable and well equipped. We stayed during a quiet period early October. However we did feel that during the main season in the summer, the complex could be a little noisier than we would prefer.

The Wain is one of a lovely set of barn conversions for 6 people. Very cosy and comfortable with good quality furnishings. There was a problem with the shower on the first floor. The water flow was very hot! So the guests on the first floor used the shower in the Ensuite. The only other thing of note was the black on some of the grouting/silicone in the Ensuite, not major but needs some attention.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stay, the second time we have been there. Enjoyed the hot tub, but didn't get much time to make use of the games room!

We booked the Wain house for one week and it was amazing from beginning to end. Easy check in, great location and beautiful cottage. The property was clean and the hot tub was cleaned every day and kept hot 24/7 which was great to get into after our long country walks.

We brought our dogs with us and there were lots of country walks and beautiful villages close to the cottage to explore. We also had a two year old with us and the cottage was child friendly and had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend these cottages!

Our 4th year staying at the Wain House, and as always a lovely stay. The Lemon drizzle cake is a nice touch and is thoroughly enjoyed every year. The hot tub is possibly the cleanest we have ever used.
One recommendation would be to have EV charging.

We had a fabulous stay at The Wain House - we really didn't want to leave and the late check-out facility helped us to stay just a little bit longer. The cottage has lots of character and the two kids (teenagers) loved the upstairs bedrooms. The hot tub was a lovely way to relax at the end of the day and we spent many hours in the games room playing pool and table tennis. The cottages are remote and the mobile phone signal reduced but that was not a problem for us. We were there to switch off! We made use of the milk bottle provided and went to the local dairy farm to buy milk from a vending machine - a fantastic way to support a local business and to reduce plastic at the same time. All four of us in the family agreed that the Wain House is one of our favourite holiday cottages. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we came back to Shropshire. We also loved Shrewsbury, the town centre was lovely and the Sabrina boat trip was fantastic.

Just returned from a very relaxed few days staying in Wain House very clean and fully equipment accomodation. Beds very comfy and hot tub a real bonus.
Loved looking up at the view of the hill and sheep and watching sun go down while in the hot tub
Great for walkers and games room was enjoyed by us all.
Great location and we will be returning

Overall we where very content with this accommodation. We didn’t receive an email regarding hot tub disclaimer, which caused a delay in usage, and we didn’t find the gym or games room, We were also short of a few bits of crockery. But we consider these to be minor issues; the holiday experience was first class.

As a family of six we had a great stay at The Wain House. Upon arrival we found there to only be four plates so contacted them via WhatsApp as suggested in the Welcome Pack and this was resolved within 30mins. All the added extra touches were lovely and the hot tub is a great feature. A little remote and no where to let the dog run around but the extra features and games room made up for it.

1st family holiday with 4 week grandchild and 2 dogs
Suited us perfectly as bedroom downstairs. Baby and family upstairs so we didn,t here him in the night. BONUS
The house was lovely in a beautiful setting.
Plenty of room for us all a proper home from home.
Gym a big hit with son and Games room a good idea and used regularly.
It was lovely to sit in the hot tub in the evening and see the sheep in the fields.
The welcome pack was a lovely touch.
Certainly a relaxing place.
The only thing is a very narrow road to get there, BUT worth it for the peace and quiet.

We booked the Wain House because it was described as 'luxury'. Luxury tends to mean attention to detail and not every element reached the luxury standard for us. The house is well designed and comfortable but things like really cheap and past their sleeping date pillows made sleep very uncomfortable. Cheap toilet paper meant it did not last the whole weekend, and because it stated there was 2 per bathroom provided it wasn't planned for. We tried to hoover but the vacuum cleaner was broken and did not work it also stank and made the house smell awful. A broom and dustpan and brush would have been useful. The hot tub was enjoyed but we wanted to eat outside and it took me 20 minutes to clean the table and patio chairs which was covered in grime and bird poo. I understand that birds can not be controlled but some of it was pretty old and the table had lichen growing on top. Also the recycling / rubbish are was very confusing and over flowing. More bins with the differentiation as described in the welcome book was needed. Having said that we did have a very enjoyable time and the meal cooked for us by Evatt and Bullock was absolutely fantastic and made a very special memory for our us and our friends.

We enjoyed our stay in this cottage. Well furnished (would have appreciated a full length mirror) and problems sorted out quickly by owner. Lovely hot tub in the garden and games room nearby. Location very quiet, nothing nearby, down a mainly single track lane which became quite tiresome. Lovely countryside with walks from the cottage.

A fantastic break with friends for two friends 58th birthday. Hot tub was a great add.
Service was second to none as a couple of issues with internet arose during our stay but this was dealt with immediately.

Lovely location ideal for visiting Church Stretton, Ludlow and Craven Arms. Well equipped with everything you could need for a peaceful break. The games room, gym and hot tub fantastic. Manager Chloe excellent any problems sort quickly and efficiently. Myself and my family all had a wonderful time and will definitely be going back for another stay.

Cottage was done out to a high standard. Great location for walking, we did all the walks supplied in the cottage. Hot tub was fabulous after a day walking. Games room and gym an added bonus. Would highly recommend.

Kitchen layout difficult. Could be better lighting arrangements. Either too bright or too dark.
Needs sharper knives. Measuring jug has lost all graduations.
Occupants of downstairs bedroom can hear a lot of noise from upstairs.
Not great for tall people.
Better recycling arrangements and dog poo bin needed.

We stayed in the wain house for 4 nights for a mini moon, myself, my husband and 2 children had not been away in so long so this was our first break. All I can say is what a beautiful place to pull up to. Check in was so so easy and exactly as the emails stated, there was no fuss whatsoever. My teenage daughter is autistic and going anywhere, even for the day can be a challenge for her. Westhope cottages could not have done more to ensure our stay went smoothly and as stress free as possible for her. All the amenities inside the house were amazing, the teabags, milk and cake were a welcomed surprise after the car journey here. The hot tub was also amazing, so clean and we all enjoyed using that every day we were here. The mattress in the downstairs bedroom where my husband and I stayed was a little less comfortable than we are used to but that is personal preference and would not stop me coming back here in the slightest. The whole house had been cleaned so thoroughly which made us feel safe in the current situation with COVID-19. Absolutely love love love and can’t wait to come back again!

The cottage is quaint and little touches home made cake wine bits essential s very good on arrival due to good way from shops and can be a bad travel round thin short winding roads for a few miles and if another car coming which do a lot and very fast can be a unpleasant experience would not do it in the dark. The area is beautiful but to go anywhere you need to travel for people walking/hiking brilliant but with small children wouldn’t advise not lots to do the cottage itself had lots of cobwebs dust a lot laid around pillows seen better days bathroom floor very slippy (dangerous) in fact on marble floor the bedroom s far to hot for a comfortable night sleep if u open the doors 100 of flies come in, fridge light didn’t work but we still had fun the separate games room is fab touch I would advise anyone staying there if wanting to go somewhere put in sat nav before leaving the cottage don’t get a lot of signal in the area means you go further to get to places until you find a signal

Everything was so well organised by the management. It was very special to stay at Wain House where we stayed to celebrate my 80th birthday in May. Excellent accommodation comfortable beds, kitchen facilities were adequate when we invited guests to my birthday party. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Very comfortable house, well-equipped and located in a beautiful quiet valley. Lots of fine walking on the doorstep and not far by car from the prime beauty spots of Caer Caradoc, Carding Mill, Long Mynd and Stokesay Castle. Also Ludlow within easy reach.
We were not satisfied with one of the mattresses but on reporting the problem a replacement was provided within two days,
The children enjoyed the hot tub and games room and the layout of the site made it easy for the children to make new friends from the other cottages.

We have been to The Wain House twice before, last years visit was cancelled so this year was so much more enjoyable. We will be back again. Not just the cottage but the lovely peaceful countryside nearby as well as easy access to The Long Mynd for stunning scenery and great walk. Also, the local town of Ludlow is wonderful.

We had a wonderful 4 days, beautiful location (quite remote), excellent, homely accommodation. Host was just so lovely. Welcome pack on arrival, much appreciated. Would definitely recommend.

I would recommend going down to Craven Arms and then back to Westhope rather th turning left at Church Stretton

We booked this property because with the games room & hot tub it looked perfect for our 3 teenage children.
We were very disappointed not to have been able to move the date, as due to covid restrictions only myself & partner could go, as 2 kids were in lockdown at uni and 1 was told by school to self isolate.
Consequently we didn’t use the facilities & left on Sunday morning to get back to isolating teen hence I don’t feel we had value for money.

The cleanliness of the house was superb, especially given these troubling times. We stayed here as a group of two adult couples in September 2020. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves, making full use of the hot tub and the beautiful countryside around. Couple of downsides, it is quite far out in the middle of nowhere which was ok for us but might put some people off. Also we would recommend the owner puts some coasters on the living room and provides some fly spray as there were flies everywhere, particularly upstairs. Otherwise a very lovely stay and we would love to return.

Good quality fittings, excellent support from the management, full range of cooking utensils, and equipment. The central heating and bathroom facilities, very good.

The only misleading information, was the distance to the nearest public house. It was a 15 minute DRIVE away.
I have given an Excellent rating for the directions to the property, but I used a road atlas!!!

What an amazing gem of a place.
We all thoroughly loved our stay.
My daughters loved the hot tub especially.
Location is brilliant for easy access to all amenities (need to take the car)
Owner was great too and when we reported the hot tub controls was broken it was repaired within 24hrs.
We even got cake and wine on arrival.
Can’t wait for our next visit.
Also beds were so comfortable and cottage so well equipped.

We booked 4 of the houses for a big group of families and it was perfect. The houses themselves were all spotless and very nicely finished. There were lovely touches like a home-baked cake and a bottle of wine left in each house. The location is amazing - lots of places for long walks and beautiful rolling countryside all around. I highly recommend a stay!

We looked for somewhere suitable for a family get-together for 3 generations gathering from Kent and West Yorkshire. We wanted somewhere a bit special as we were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The Wain House proved ideal. The hot tub was popular and the games room was used by some family members. The location was ideal, the scenery stunning and there were interesting places within easy reach.

A comfortable getaway in beautiful countryside yet within reach of Ludlow. The cottage was beautifully clean and full of character. The welcome package was most appreciated as was the hot tub at the end of a hectic day.

A quite delightful cottage deep in the Shropshire countryside yet only 10 minutes drive from the town of Ludlow. One of the highlights is the unspoilt, starry night sky as viewed from the lovely hot tub. This really is a gem of a cottage.

The cottage is lovely.Marianne made us very welcome and there was a homemade cake,wine and chocolates on our arrival.The hot tub was the best ever.It was a lovely place to go walking from,we liked the quiet secluded spot.
Although pubs & shops were a car journey away we did not mind that,it was a lovely stay all round.
