The first thing we noticed about Saltspring Lodge was the view. You can see right down the glen to the sea loch at the bottom. We never got tired of it.
The lodge itself is brand new and had everything we needed for a week with two young children. A lovely kitchen and sitting room, and a handy utility room downstairs, with a big double room and a loo. Upstairs was the master bedroom and an en suite. All were beautifully presented and spotless.
Coming from the South Birmingham suburbs, we felt like we were firmly in the highland wilderness but the lodge but the lodge is only a ten minute drive from Oban, where we could do a supermarket run very easily. We had a few great days out to Dunstaffnage Castle, beaches, but we could also have a wander closer to home and had some excellent meals at The Barn Bar, which is only a short walk away.
Julie and Charlie were absolutely fantastic hosts: welcoming, warm, helpful and full of invaluable local knowledge. The highlight for the kids was undoubtedly the chance to spend a few hours in the wood-fired hot tub, and they loved the outdoor baths. The grown ups appreciated the sauna. It really made our experience at Saltspring Lodge that little bit more special and relaxing.
It’s the best experience we’ve had with a rental in Scotland by miles. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at Saltspring Lodge as a family in April and it completely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived in Lerags Glen, the setting took our breath away — waking up each morning to birdsong and views stretching down the glen and across Loch Feochan felt genuinely restorative.
The lodge itself is beautifully put together. The ground floor is cosy and practical, and the upstairs king bedroom with its en-suite and private decking is a real treat — we left the patio doors open in the evening just to take in the view. The wood-fired stove made the evenings incredibly cosy, and the outdoor hot tub on the decking among the trees was the perfect way to unwind after a day out exploring.
Oban is just a few minutes away, which made it easy to pop in for food, ferry trips, and sightseeing — but Saltspring has such a peaceful atmosphere that we were equally happy just staying put.
We'd recommend this to anyone looking for a proper Highland escape that doesn't compromise on comfort. We'll definitely be back.

We booked Saltspring Lodge without seeing any pictures, and honestly, I’m so glad we did — it made arriving such a lovely surprise.
The lodge feels like a small but surprisingly spacious two-bedroom treehouse. It’s cosy yet open, with everything thoughtfully laid out. The real highlight, though, is the patio: the views out over the Scottish mountains and sea are absolutely stunning. Watching lambs playing and bleating nearby just added to the whole peaceful, almost magical atmosphere.
One of the most special touches was the outdoor bath — such a beautiful and relaxing experience, especially with that scenery around you.
We thoroughly loved our stay here and will definitely be back. I’ll be recommending it to friends without hesitation.
