Fort Belan is a stunning 18th century fort on the coast of Caernarfon Bay. Dock Cottage, an old stone cottage overlooking the harbour has stunning views and is a birdwatcher's paradise.

We had a wonderful week in Fort Belan. We stayed in Dock Cottage - a very quiet, private and peaceful location. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped and the views from every window are stunning. The kitchen has everything needed to cook meals (although the cooker takes a while to warm up - I am used to gas and a fan assisted oven). The bathroom is newly fitted. You can sit outside with a glass of wine or a cuppa and soak up the wonderful views

The decor needs some updating, the double bed wasn't very comfortable and the rug in the lounge definitely needs to be replaced. However, these were minor niggles and were insignificant when weighed up against being able to stay in such a wonderful peaceful, historic location. We will definitely return. In fact, I want to go back right now!

Great venue to come on a fisjhing trip and Chris and his family were very friendly and helpful when required. Otherwise we were left to get on and enjoy our stay.

Will definately be back.

Wonderful place to stay, gorgeous beach, peaceful, full of character and history. A true escape for a lovely holiday. There's no Wi-Fi and poor phone reception within the very thick stone walls so don't go if these are important to you. If you want to see wildlife and relax this is the pace for you.

Although a few hiccups with peeling paint in one bedroom and our arrival not expected due to email problems we had a very enjoyable stay at Dock cottage. The location is wild and beautiful with lovely views from all aspects of its situation with the tide reaching the back of the cottage. Spent hours just watching the variety of bird life feeding their young , exploring the unique Fort and Dinas Dinlle pebbly beach ( more suited to older families). Although isolated in location it was within easy reach by car of Caernarvon and roads to explore North Wales. We will certainly use the cottage again.
