The owner is a very nice man who will try to please you as much as he possibly can but the fort itself has big potential if money would be invested in it but as for now is old and shabby and full of cobwebs and is only made for people who love these kind of places but is defiantly not value for money.

We were very pleased to host and welcome this group last summer. Also we welcomed their related group in August 2023, - guests who enjoyed their stay tremendously and who upon leaving gave us a glowing review. We have made special arrangements for this group to suit their very particular needs. We do enjoy looking after our guests and giving our full attention in order for things to run smoothly. Upon the guests departure this year too we were led to understand that their stay at Fort Belan had been 'wonderful'. A week or two after their departure we did receive a letter raising some matters of purported complaint, but to all points raised in that letter we responded in detail, our main point of response being that the said issues mentioned had not been brought to our attention in a timely manner - mostly not during the stay at all. One thing pointed out in the guest's letter was that guests had encountered cobwebs some time after arrival. However, as the houses had been thoroughly cleaned and since this was not pointed out on arrival, this must have occurred during the stay, in the rural property in the middle of summer this can of course occur. Staffing was present during the stay and we were in contact with the group and always available on request if needed - for example to remove cob-webs/ spiders had this service been asked for. Guests of each house were even asked specifically if their stay was ok - in case any issue might have arisen, but no such issues were raised; in this case, with respect, it is not possible for Fort Belan to do more. The fort is an unique historical graded building which must follow particular regulations, it has extensive lands, mountain views and is surrounded by sea. Most of our guests agree that it occupies a most stunning location. It is of course possible to view the location online in order to assess its suitability prior to booking. However, this group have rated location as '3' - which is unprecedented. It seems probable that a historical and rural property does not suit the needs of this group and it is surprising therefore that Fort Belan was chosen, it's location being visible from images and map as well understood in the light of the previous related group's knowledge. As for the 'value' as mentioned, - it is also unusual for this to be mentioned, the property is generally considered very reasonably priced. Our property has never been advertised as 'luxury', similarly the cottages are not priced as luxury. The price and therefore the cost per person are in line with other properties of its class, our prices being on the low side - taking in account the unique location and historical aspects. All matters such as location, exact position, amenities available and price etc may be understood from information provided prior to booking. Those who might wish to book at this truly unique coastal venue are welcome to make a time to come and see see prior to booking in order understand for themselves if it might indeed suit their needs.

We loved this venue - such a beautiful site. We booked the whole site for a family reunion and the owner couldn't have been more helpful with the details. Lovely for walks on the beach - definitely recommend the ice cream at the nearest cafe. Interesting places around to visit.

We had a wonderful time time at Fort Belan. Chris the owner was a top class host, with excellent communication before, during and after the visit, and also very flexible in enabling our requirements. Thank you so much for making sure we had everything we needed for our stay! The views are spectacular and breath taking and we really enjoyed our stay.
Thanks to Dave and Gary from coastal holidays for enabling us to stay at this special place.
We are really looking forward to come next year again.
