Creag Bheag is a cosy and charming holiday home in Portree - the main town on the Isle of Skye. Within easy walking distance of a choice of restaurants and shops and the picturesque harbour area, it also makes a great base for exploring Skye and the Isle of Raasay.
Creag Bheag has three bedrooms, two double and one single, with a warm lounge and open kitchen / dining room downstairs.

A very well equipped appartment near the center of Portree. A good selection of games and literature about Skye is also provided.

Hi there had a lovely stay at Creag Bheag it was very well situated within walking distance of the town Portree
Property was very clean and the beds were comfortablethe only trouble we had at first was getting the tv to work but hey we soon sorted it all in all a great stay.



Everything at hand in the house, just very short walk into Portree.

Nice location: short walking distance to Portree centre, also good location for driving up to various attractions (Quiraing and other walking routes, Fairy pools). Everything you need a available in the house, including books, games.

Though we only needed a one bedroom for the two of us, having a whole house to ourselves was lovely. It was easy to find with the instructions. The parking was on site. The house had everything we needed and way more. Pitlochry is the best from which to explore Skye. We spent 4 nights in the house and loved every minute. Was the highlight of our Scotland trip.

Creag Bheag is a lovely cottage with great access to the centre of Portree. Views are limited but the interior is very comfortable, clean and well stocked with equipment. We enjoyed a great week in the cottage, thank you. Our booking was well managed and everything clearly explained.

uitstekend. prima locatie loop afstand van Portree

Located very near centre of Portree. House is in reasonable condition but has noisy floorboards. It is very well equipped with all you could ask for. The sloping ceilings in bedroom was a nuisance and the small double bedroom was very tight. Cannot comment on customer service as didn't use it.
A great stay apart from the weather!

Great customer service through islands and highland cottages - good communication and would definitely book through them again. We booked this property for its location (5 minute walk into Portree) but we’re very disappointed with the cleanliness especially considering that we have just come out of a pandemic. The oven needs a really good clean, under the sofas and bookcases had lots of crumbs and dust and dining table and chairs had dust on the legs. We had a 18 month old staying with us and requested a high chair and a travel cot which looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. As a family we have been coming to skye for over 50 years and understand that price has increased due to how popular the island has become but I would expect the property I am paying over £700 for 5 nights is cleaned and well maintained. I would recommend this property based purely on location only

6th time staying at this property. Fantastic location for everything Portree and Skye has to offer. Property well equipped and flexible enough to cater for changing family dynamics over the years with two doubles, one mid sleeper (with a spare single underneath) and a sofa bed.

It was a great cottage, in a great location. The equipment and decoration was great, with the TV and Broadband working really well. The lounge and bedrooms were really comfortable. However, there were a few little pitfalls/ issues to feedback.
1) The gas is by cylinder but there are no instructions what to do if a cylinder runs out. We think this is why we couldnt get the gas fire to work although we didnt want to mess about with it.
2) There are no fans: It would be good to have for when it is hot, but the main issue we had was that there were overnight roadworks and it would have been good to drown out the noise (I am sure this is rare but can happen)
3) The bunk bed had an extra mattress under which meant a child could easily roll off the top (we took it out)
4) Other: no outside BBQ, old towels, squeeky floors, all the TV cables were unplugged which took a while to work out (e.g. you need to plug in the ethernet cable), only one bin bag provided,

This is a very comfortable, well furnished cottage in a great location, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Portree. We were pleased to find the rooms were a lot lighter than they appear in the pictures, and you can see the end of the Loch from the master bedroom.
The kitchen has everything you would need (including a washer and tumble drier which was very useful), and the owners kindly left a little box of cakes as a welcome gift which was a nice touch!
Bedrooms are cosy and there is plenty of hanging and storage space.
We loved Skye and would be very happy to stay here again.

We stayed here for a week and were fortunate to have wonderful weather. The cottage is ideally situated and just a short walk from Portree, it's on a main road but this isn't partiularly noisy , it caused no issues at all.
There is everything you need in the kitchen to cook for yourselves if you don't want to venture out and the standard of knives, crockery and pans is excellent (self catering is often a mismatch of unwanted stuff!)
The sofas are spacious and the TV package just right, we had no internet issues at all. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms were spotless.
A super break and we wouldn't hesitate to book again when we return to Skye.

Given inclement weather, the cottage in Portree was a clean, cosy, functional and excellent walking holiday base, especially with the limitations imposed by Covid-19. Portree is well located for accessing the northern part of the Isle of Skye and the Cuillin Hills by car, and well served for self-catering purposes. The off-road parking at the property was most welcome.

Great location and accommodation in Portree, the house is very well equipped and offers plenty of space for many occupants. It also includes a very handy private parking for 2 cars, it's easy to reach and to use as a base to explore Skye. It was a perfect choice for a family trip including kids/toddlers. A fantastic property in a great location to explore everything Portree and Skye has to offer. Our 5th trip to the property over a 12 year period.

We had one small issue with the heating but a quick call and it was fixed within the hour - with a follow up call from the owner the next day.

All in all - delighted again with the property and if returning to Skye I would definitely book for a 6th time!

The property was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The towels and linen not to mention general basics were prepared and ready for our arrival. The location, although offering a degree of privacy, was close to many restaurants etc and there would be absolutely no hesitation in booking Creag Bheag again should the opportunity arise in the future. In fact I would go as far as to say that if in the area, this would be our first choice and we would urge anyone planning a visit to the Portree area to really consider a stay here. I cannot speak highly enough of the service provided by the friendly staff and the quality of the cottage itself.

5 mins walk into town, everything you need utensil/kitchen wise, very comfortable beds.

Our only issue was that the kitchen could have been cleaner on arrival.. E.G,, Kitchen worktops and sink area hadn't been cleaned very well by whomever does it on the owners behalf.

Twin bed is an upper bunk with no ladder provided. Used the pullout couch instead, but no sheets available. Ran out of toilet paper Midway thru the week. Heat in master bath won't turn off. Everything else was fine. House is very good location for walking access to Portree.

The sofa bed is available on request so linen is not provided as standard for it. However, if we had known it was needed, we could have supplied the additional linen. The single bed is described as a small cabin bed and there are photographs of it on the website. There are steps going up at the end of the frame to get in. Thank you for bringing the heater to our attention. The owner is currently arranging for this to be fixed. We hope you enjoyed your time on the Isle of Skye.

Cottage tired and could do with a refurb , old fashioned. Towels provided were shocking, old and grey. 4 dishwasher tablets provided for week!! No scourer for dishes when using sink. TV system poor, only can watch iplayer or netflix- no live TV.

We have stayed in cottages all over UK and given price of cottage i would have expected more.

In summary the cottage is below ok and trades on its location but needs improving.

Thank you for reviewing Creag Bheag. Since your feedback, we were concerned about Creag Bheag and the standard of accommodation. However having re-visited the property, we found it to be warm, cosy and charming. It isn't in the most modern style but it is well maintained and looks like it does in the photographs. We are sorry that you had a few issues. We don't advertise Creag Bheag as having live TV but you can use catch-up TV through the BT vision box. And unfortunately Internet is a little haphazzard all over the island. However the owners are looking to purchase new bath and hand towels. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Great Cottage with everything you need, close to town and central for exploring Skye. Just what we needed. Two things I would suggest is that block out curtains in the bedrooms would be a welcome addition especially for travellers who are not used to having daylight until 11pm and maybe time for a mattress update in the main bedroom. TV connection was a bit hit and miss but didn't really worry us as most nights we were planning the next days adventure, great WiFi reception for phones and iPad. Great cottage at a great price if we come back to Skye we would have no hesitation in booking the cottage again.

Excellent location, parking is a bonus (you need to use the cone to protect your space!!!).

The cottage is well equipped with modern fixtures and fittings and very comfortable.

Minor issues:
TV - struggled with this, we brought an Amazon stick and this worked well
Doors - most of the internal doors don't close properly.

Creag Bheag is located very conveniently for Portree centre which is just a few minutes walk. Although near the centre the location is quite quiet. It is very handy having off road parking for 2 cars as Portree was quite busy and I would imagine it could be difficult to park in the village at times.
The cottage itself is a good size and is well equipped, although very warm compared to what we are used to. It was fairly clean although we did find some dirty tissues behind a set of drawers in one of the bedrooms. Most of the floors are wooden and although easy to clean they do squeak a lot!
It took a while to work out how to use the television, but we managed once we found the instructions which were in a drawer under the telly unit.
