We had such a lovely stay here on skye! Can not wait to come back. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting.
This house was beautiful and very clean. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful view out to the loch, where one evening we watched a pair of white-tailed eagles hunting for an hour. We had everything we needed, including an excellent selection of books and DVDs. We had a lovely and peaceful holiday and enjoyed the friendly welcome from the people of Skye, even during Covid.
Above and beyond our expectations. Very well equipped, luxury cottage. Fantastic views, totally recommend
It’s a wonderful cosy and quiet cottage. The surrounding is very peaceful. Easy to find based on the direction given to us post booking. The location is also apt to visit places in and around Skye. Cottage has a well equipped kitchen as well. Ample parking space.
We stayed here in March 2020 with our family, for our wedding celebrations. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about our stay. IH Cottages were super helpful and lovely when communicating with us and all though our booking process. The house is stunning, very spacious with beautiful views. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It is modern whilst cosy at the same time. We would 100% recommend staying here and will most definitely be back!
Loved our stay at Ben Edra it was perfect for exploring mid and north Skye. The views were stunning.
Stunning property in a stunning location. Spotlessly clean, cosy, really comfortable, brilliantly well-equipped...we've stayed in a lot of self-catering properties and this rates among the best. All this plus a stunning location: Ord is beautiful and so quiet. Fabulous views of the Cuillin and the wildlife was incredible - spent a lovely half hour watching a pair of sea eagles from the cottage, plus saw golden eagles and an otter. Fabulous walking - a perfect week away. Can't recommend MacKinnon highly enough - thank you!
We had just a lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The cottage is so very comfortable and has everything you could ever need while away from home. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore the best Skye has to offer. We would love to come back to this spot and we really didn't want to leave. It's a very special place.
Superb location - views to die for, especially if you are into bird / animal / coastal photography. Somewhat isolated yes- but true tranquillity is only obtained at a price ! Great local walking from the door. Perhaps a location to avoid if you want to allow your dog to run off lead locally- as could cause issues with surrounding livestock tho' property is fully fenced. Consideration should also be given to parts of the approach track , as some serious potholes could lead to issues on some cars particularly those with low suspension ! All of the various guide book photo's & descriptions w...more
We had a wonderful stay at Blue Sea Cottage! The view from the home is amazing and the sun room is the perfect place to enjoy it. The bedrooms are comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom is large and the bathtub was such a luxury. The kitchen space and cooking supplies were perfect for us to cook meals every day. We are already eager for a return trip to Skye!
Lovely house can’t fault anything with it. And an ideal location for exploring the rest of the island
The Mill is a beautiful house with lots of character. Absolutely everything we needed was provided and we felt very much at home. The house was warm, It was very clean, there’s lots of space and the showers were great - important after a long day walking! Seamus and Maggie gave us a lovely welcome and were very kind. The location is great. It was lovely to walk down to the shore of the beautiful bay at sunset and look out for the otters and seals. It’s very close to so many beautiful places in Skye including the falls of Rha, the fairy glen, and the Quairang. It made a great base...more
Allderburn House was in the perfect location, less than 5 min walk into the centre of Portree. A very well equipped and comfortable house. A perfect base for exploring Skye. Highly recommend.
very enjoyable week in duirnish, scenery spectacular and duirnish lodge and gardens a very nice place to stay
We had the best holiday in this cottage on skye. We had everything we needed and the host was so kind with the all of the skye gifts. Thankyou
Our second stay at Tidal Cottage was magical again. Wonderful location, views to die for and a very cosy cottage to spend a wonderful Christmas. Tidal Cottage definitely gave us the fantastic festive season we hoped for and we will definitely be back.
We stayed here in March 2020 with family, whilst celebrating our wedding. The house is beautifully furnished, with an amazing view and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. IH Cottages could not have been more helpful throughout the booking process and helping with a minor snag on or arrival (which was all sorted very quickly!). The house is cosy and comfortable and we would very much like to return in the future. We would 100% recommend staying at Ard Na Mara!
Awesome! The Library isa place to go back to. All you can expect from a compassionate owner. Everything we need has been thought of. Thank you so very much. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you for the coffee and the goodies too.
Fantastic location. Excellent accommodation, thoughtfully equipped. Perfect for a peaceful relaxing week. Only quibble: with such a spectacular view it would have been better to have two comfortable armchairs by the window - the chaise longue is bizarrely incongruous and annoyingly bulky!
We happened upon this cottage by chance; we were originally only looking for a room with ensuite (but the island was fully booked) and we would absolutely stay here again. The cottage is gorgeous. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need (except perishables, so do shop before you go); the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable; the view is unforgettable. The road to get to the cottage is Skye at its best: passing places; sharp turns; cattle grid. The long route will take you past all of the island highlights and gorgeous walks, and you take a stroll down to the sea from...more
Lovely house, plenty room, remote and peaceful location, beautiful scenery, great walks, quiet roads for biking.. would definitely recommend for a totally relaxing holiday.
We spend two weeks in The Croft House, Fiskavaig. We were well looked after and could not of hoped for a better holiday
We have a lovely stay at Almondbank Apartment. The guests are very nice. We enjoy the house location: you can access really easily all the skye island location. We recommand to book here.
very enjoyable stay if you want remote this is the place to go to. the two feral cats are always looking for food so you get a big welcome when you return after a day out.
Fantastic cottage. We had 6 guys in here for a week doing some mountaineering up on the Cuillin Hills. It is a really nice place, we are repeat customers from the year previous. 1 - The shower is weak, not what you want after a day on the hill. 2 - I would like a number so that I could inform the owners that I was leaving a day early, this would doubtless help them and make me feel happier about leaving the key in the agreed place but hardly secure. That is all I can think to drip about, we will book in next year.
A clean, warm and comfortable property in a quiet but accessible location. It was lovely to watch the local wildlife and the views from the large picture windows, especially the baby rabbits playing in the garden. Set back from the main road between Portree and Uig, it was easy to drive around North Skye and further afield, if you wished. The nearest shops were in Portree, where there is a couple of Co-op supermarkets, as well as local food shops. The complimentary biscuits from the Skye Bakery were especially nice! The kitchen was well equipped and had all the essential facilities for a self...more
We had a wonderful stay at "The Steading" and enjoyed its loneliness. We will definitely recommend your house to others and maybe come back one day. Thank you for everything!
This is a large cottage that is in excellent condition - fantastic facilities and three bathrooms with loads of hot water which was great in the middle of winter! A lovely welcome pack when we arrived with loads of information about Skye. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Have only given good for VFM because accommodation in Skye is very expensive at New Year - not so much a comment on this house as the costs generally.
A very lovely cottage with beautiful views on all sides. The location is great for exploring this wonderful part of Skye. There are plenty of great walks close by whether you want a stroll or something more challenging. There are 2 well stocked village shops very close by. The house has plenty of room for all with comfortable, good size rooms and good showers! Super friendly and helpful caretaker who responded very swiftly when we had a small issue that needed resolving.
The house is in a lovely location & is ideal for a family get away, the children loved exploring the house & gardens. I would highly recommend it.
Really enjoyed our week at An Caladh. Very comfortable cottage which is well equipped with everything you might need - especially the kitchen. We have been to Skye a few times but not stayed in this location and it was great - amazing sunset views and close to Dunvegan for amenities. We enjoyed fish and chips one night from the Harlosh takeaway down the road and had coffee with superb cakes at the Dunvegan on the Main Street in Dunvegan. Highly recommend.
A very bright and airy cottage with beautiful views. Huge private garden and easy access for vehicles. Inside, the cottage is very comfortable and spacious, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice. Clean and modern with high quality furniture and accessories. This part of the Island isn't as busy with tourists so the peace and quiet is welcome yet, it's an easy drive to most of the northern parts parts of Skye as well as Portree itself (if you really must go there!).
The cottage was lovely and you could never tire of the view from the dining and living room windows.
Wonderful location and nice house. Let down by the standard of cleanliness. Dust on surfaces and dirt under furniture on floor/in corners.
The cottage is in an amazing setting. Weather permitting, there is a front garden, equipped with beautifully made wooden garden furniture, from which one can breakfast or sip a late evening glass of wine, whilst taking in the stunning view of the bay, the open sea and Dunvegan head. The cottage itself has been thoughtfully renovated, tastefully decorated and is well-equipped with everything one could need from a large American fridge (with ice-dispensing function), to an excellent collection of pans, crockery and utensils for every culinary requirement. There are lovely ornaments and handmade ...more
Four Winds is a lovely house with everything you could possibly need. The views are amazing and the location is good, not far to the bridge and Broadford. The garden is great, with the beautiful view and it's completely dog proof. We had a very enjoyable stay and the owners and Islands and Highlands were lovely and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
A lovely stay in a great cottage, enjoyed by all. The cottage, comfort, cleanliness, warmth, facilities and overall ambience were great and would happily come back again. Some wonderful days out from this location with some stunning scenery all around, great walks if you know where to find them. Our one small negative, en-sweet facilities upstairs please. A fantastic cottage.
I booked the whole house for my family to join us for our wedding in Scotland. Both the housekeeper and the owner were both very helpful and good and communicating. Our stay was very enjoyable and the location is just lovely. We actually ended up moving our wedding location to the slip owned by the house and it could not have been more idyllic. The area is lovely and peaceful and a very short distance to the bridge over to Skye.
This property in an excellent location - well placed for discovering the area. It is very well equipped and the hosts are very friendly.
Nice quiet property in owner's back garden though we never actually met. Very well equipped and comfortable with wood burning stove (firewood supplied) and underfloor heating. Great shower too. Nice view through the shrubs at end of garden to the Loch and hills. Plenty of parking. About 20 minute's walk from centre of Portree, it's a really good base from which to drive to all points on the island and enjoy the walks and majestic scenery. Plenty of good places to eat in Portree but kitchen also v well equipped for cooking at home. If you like fish there is a fantastic but slightly hard to find...more
Lovely cosy warm cottage with safe enclosed garden. Fantastic views - good local shop and places to eat. Great base for exploring the northern areas of Skye.
This is a very nice little cottage, clean and tidy and well equipped, the hosts offered a very warm welcome and took the time to show us around and offer advice on places to to visit. The only small thing is that we like to have a cup of tea in bed in the mornings but the position of the bed under the sloping roof didn't allow us to sit up and do this,
We enjoyed out stay at Alan's House very much. It is very comfortable, well equipped, and exactly as described. We appreciated the fact that you rented for 4 days - most places require a week's stay. We used the clothes washer and would have appreciated a dryer. During our 4 day stay we had no contact with anyone - not the rental agency or any caretakers. Nor did we have any need to talk to anyone. Directions were easy to follow.
Perfect location for exploring Skye and access to the supermarket in Portree. Wonderful views from the property, which is tastefully decorated and has various handy maps of Skye to plan hikes and days out. My only complaints would be that you’re reliant on the standards of the previous guests for clean crockery on arrival because there is no dishwasher and that I had to buy a cheese grater to use during my stay, which I did take home.
Tigh Anndra is a cosy, well equipped cottage in a stunning location in the North of the Isle of Skye. It contained everything we needed for our stay including some bits and pieces that we had forgotten such as foil and olive oil. We mostly didn't need any heating but, when we did, the towel rails in the bathroom provided enough warmth for the whole cottage. In saying that, the owner Angus had provided enough chopped wood for the wood burning stove to see us through the week if it had been cold. If there had been any problems, Angus only lives a short distance away and made a point of calling i...more
Upon arrival found signage different to address on email ,( sorleys cottage may have been in Gaelic) so had to look through windows for signs of occupancy, which could have been awkward. Upon finding the right cottage we were welcomed with a strange musty smell and there was no Covid precautions at all plus other guests food left in cupboard which in this day and age isn’t really acceptable. The sofas in the front room Had rips in each of them so may be time to update them . All in all a great location but needs a lot of updating and Covid measures( ie sanitizer points) put in place , a...more
Although this is a lovely cottage I feel it is well over priced,it is very close to Portree centre and a good size
Very nice self catering accommodation. Silent, though in near of the main street. Great view out of the sitting room windows! Near to the center, where all the bars are ;-) The lock of one toilet doors was broken, but this was not a show stopper. Eventually my wife could escape ;-)
Great location, 5 minutes walk to town. Easy free parking for one car. Large property with comfy lounge area. Everything you need for a home from home stay. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 mins walk.
We were very happy with the property, which is cosy and well equipped in a fantastic location on Skye, close to many famous landmarks and beauty spots. The view from the front of the cottage is a real pleasure to wake up to each morning. Kitchen had everything we needed and excellent wi fi helped us plan our trips around the island. Very pleased and would book again.
Excellent accommodation comfy clean beds - really nice public area with table to sit 8 - 1 bathroom downstairs and two upstairs was ideal Lovely location so peaceful and utility room with washer and dryer is very handy after a hillwalk
Stayed with my daughter, we found cottage very welcoming and comfortable with all essential facilities. Good situation close to Portree and particularly for exploring north Skye. Good fun on occasions fun shepherding cattle to get access to the exit gate. Recommended.
On arrival we wiped down all of the surfaces with antibacterial wipes given the extra care that should be taken with COVID. The surfaces were dirty as if wiped with a dirty cloth used many times. The freezer had food in it from the previous occupants and the freezer door was dirty (I took pictures). In the bathroom there was a plastic tumbler I assume for toothbrushes, it was full of toothpaste and saliva (again I have pictures). The seat in the small toilet was loose and moved with every use. We were asked to keep the gate shut to keep the sheep out, but there is no fence behind the garage so...more
It had an excellent central location. It was ideal for exploring Skye. It had everything we needed. It was very clean on arrival and the rooms were we’ll equipped - ideal. It also had considered the restrictions relating to COVID-19. Excellent. Thank you
As above perfect spot for exploring north Skye within a week, quite location with beautiful sunset views.
Large Windows allowed every time a beautiful View to the Ocean and the islands. The Skyskins and the the Cafe nearby is a must see. The old school house in Dunvegan is a perfect Place for Lunch and Dinner
This is a lovely cottage - maybe not the prettiest but with comfortable rooms and a great view from the conservatory out over Loch Greshornish. Owing to the needs of Covid-19, we had to strip the beds and pillows removing the mattress protectors as well at the end of our stay - this gave us a chance to see how clean the mattresses and pillows were and I can confirm they were all spotless. This matches what we found across the cottage - everything was very clean. The lounge area is very comfortable, although with not much of a view. (The views are really all from the conservatory, w...more
I can highly recommend this cottage. We were a multigenerational family group of 7 (15 to 77 years old), and we thoroughly enjoyed our 7 day stay in the cottage. Incredibly comfortable, warm and cosy. Owners were great, with a real commitment to customer service - resolved our minor issues immediately. A downstairs bedroom & bathroom made it fully accessible for guests with reduced mobility. Amazing views and location. Great base for exploring the rest of the island. Don’t miss Portree, the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr (obviously!) and the lovely beach within easy walking distance of the cott...more
Given inclement weather, the cottage in Portree was a clean, cosy, functional and excellent walking holiday base, especially with the limitations imposed by Covid-19. Portree is well located for accessing the northern part of the Isle of Skye and the Cuillin Hills by car, and well served for self-catering purposes. The off-road parking at the property was most welcome.
We had a fantastic week at this cottage, the space was perfect for us, plenty of room for us to enjoy our Christmas break with our dogs :) the garden is great, nice and large and the dogs spent plenty of time running around whatever the weather. The cottage was lovely and warm, had all sorts of kitchen accessories but our favourite spot was curled up in front of the large windows with a cuppa watching the weather. The views are magnificent. We felt completely at home and were very sad to leave! We can't wait to book again:)
This house was our perfect basecamp for our three night stay on the Isle of Skye. Located far away from any tourist routes in the south west near the highest mountains of the island it let us feel like we are somewhere in the east of Iceland. The house was very well equipped and we felt comfortable without internet and mobile phone connections. Only the fact that the floor and some dishes weren‘t that clean made a first bad impression to us. Nevertheless this house is a good recommendation for everyone seeking calm.
Tigh na Dalach feels very much a family home. Cosy, warm and comfortable with a great family kitchen. Lovely views from the garden over the loch. The cottage contains everything you need for your holiday. The parking spaces behind the cottage seemed to be used by residents, but we managed to park nearby with no problem. This was our second time in this cottage and we would return again without hesitation. Plockton and the surrounding areas are unbeatable. If you want peace, quiet and space but the convenience of nearby pubs, takeaway etc it is perfect. The location is simply beautiful.
Despite the worst of weather the week we stayed in Skye we had a lovely time. The furnishings were rustic and cosy and fitted the setting. The wood burning stoves were great and we lit the living room/kitchen one every evening. We lit the one in the bedroom only 1 evening. The flat was sound proof and with extra thick walls we were not going to be disturbed or cold. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The wifi was good in an evening but a bit hit and miss during the day. There was enough to check emails but no netflix viewing :-).There was one day when we looked...more
This cottage is so beautiful and comfortable. Everything was just perfect from the decor, its size, the cleanliness, the comfortable sofas and beds, the stunning well-equipped kitchen, to the space, the views and the excellent customer service. We travelled as a family of 5 with kids under 10 and they and we absolutely loved our stay. The owners have thought of everything you might need to make you feel right at home. The location is tranquil and secluded and just a stone's throw from the beach which offers amazing sunsets and lovely walks. As it requires a bit of a long drive to Skye's better...more
Loch Mealt View is a comfortable cottage that distant enough from the main road, yet still only a few minutes away from it. Bathroom and rooms have been recently renovated (hence all comments from before 2019 are now invalid), the kitchen has everything that you need for home cooking, beds are spacious and comfortable. Living room couches are also new and very comfy! Our only negative comments: no way to get on the wifi, despite 2 BT systems present in the house (it seems nobody paid for it for some time), no outside tables and chairs - which can be understood as evening densities of midges ma...more
We had a wonderful stay in this character cottage in the most idyllic location. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
Perfect location for exploring Skye. Well appointed property with excellent facilities. Only surprise was absence of dish cloth or any cloth for cleaning surfaces etc. Luckily we’d brought our own. Highly recommended
This is a lovely cottage with a great location for the south of the island and not to mention getting back to the mainland for the likes of Plockton and Applecross (via the "pass" is amazing!!). It's very compact internally but most of the time is out and about. The thing that let this cottage down for us was the cleanliness, especially in the likes of the kitchen. Granted 5 star luxury and cleanliness isn't expected but neither is having to almost spring clean the kitchen before using it or the items within. Shame really.
Beautiful, cosy house and fabulous location. Great for quiet and peaceful getaways. Definitely returning!
Very comfortable, appreciated the upmarket shower and bath gell, and suprisingly quiet, given its central location.
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
The property was cosy and welcoming and it was thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It was pristinely clean and fresh. The communication with Island and Highland Cottages was really helpful and theee were speedy replies to emails. The location is perfect for exploring the island and the views from the cottage are beautiful.
We were very pleased with the accommodation and the fittings. The cottage is easy to manage and convenient for a pleasant shore and for a short drive in to Portree. It is a place of great calm. It would be nice for the outside "garden" to mirror the standard of the inside of the house but you can't have everything! We will book again.
A one week stay in a traditional cottage it was what we expected Fires in each room which you could light at your leisure, we used the lounge fire, Wood was supplied, I took my own kindling and newspapers We ate in a few times and found the kitchen well stocked with utensils There are no basics for cooking but during these times we expected this We chose it for location to visit specific areas of Skye and also used 2 nearby restaurants Edinbane Inn and Lodge, both of which are quite a hike away About 100 yards away a neighbour sells fresh eggs which were fantastic
The cottage is in the small hamlet of Luib, relatively central on the Isle of Skye. There's not much in the village itself apart from sheep and many other farm animals, you can start walking from the doorstep or venture to the seaside. It is nice and quiet with only the sound of the stream at night, we slept very good. The cottage is not very big, we were just three people which was fine. However, there's not enough storage space for clothes, wet shoes, jackets etc. We had some issues concerning cleanliness and a wifi that did not work, but we were told that this will be fixed soon. The cottag...more
Lovely week staying in Alt Slappin. Cottage well equipped and comfortable. Great location for visiting skye.
10 Torrin is a lovely cosy cottage in a great location! The cottage is a 5-10 minute walk to Loch Slapin and fabulous views of Blaven. The cottage is well equipped and lovely and warm. We had everything we needed including extra blankets (and electric blankets if we’d needed them.) Six of us stayed and we paid extra to use the Byre (which meant we had two toilets and showers). There was a big table for eating and for evenings playing games. The cottage has good Wi-fi (two of our party taught virtual music lessons during our stay!). There was Sky TV (repaired during our stay as it hadn’t b...more
LOCATION: The cottage is quite removed and isolated from any nearby city and tourists. However, it is near to the Skye Skins sheep-wool production shop, Skye's oldest pub The Stein Inn, and Diver's Eye boat tours - all of which are lovely and recommended. The drive to the cottage from the main road is single-track and took us about ten minutes to get through any time we wanted to go anywhere. This was alright for us, as we appreciated the benefit of being removed from main traffic more than we were put off by how long it took to get anywhere. The drive to Portree is about 50 minutes (don't let...more
Had a wonderful stay in Uig, the cottage was amazing value for money and will likely be coming back. My parents have already booked!
I’ll start with the positives, the views and location of the cottage are brilliant and would be hard to beat, sadly that is all that is good about the place. It’s extremely tired and worn, to the point that parts of the bathroom and kitchen are disgusting. The furniture is ripped and the carpets and walls are in need of a refurb. Finally, the standard of cleaning was rather shocking, especially in the current covid climate, which forced us to eat out due to the state of the cooking utensils in the cupboards. Not worth a fraction of the £200 per night price paid and left feeling totally robbed.
