It’s a wonderful cosy and quiet cottage. The surrounding is very peaceful. Easy to find based on the direction given to us post booking. The location is also apt to visit places in and around Skye. Cottage has a well equipped kitchen as well. Ample parking space.
Above and beyond our expectations. Very well equipped, luxury cottage. Fantastic views, totally recommend
Loved our stay at Ben Edra it was perfect for exploring mid and north Skye. The views were stunning.
We were impressed with the accommodation. It was beautiful, modern and clean. There was careful attention to detail and comfort. The setting is lovely-nice hikes from the front door to the water or woods. Sitting on the patio, sipping wine and looking at the view was great. One problem occurred with the light switch in the master bedroom but that didn't detract from our very positive experience.
Stunning property in a stunning location. Spotlessly clean, cosy, really comfortable, brilliantly well-equipped...we've stayed in a lot of self-catering properties and this rates among the best. All this plus a stunning location: Ord is beautiful and so quiet. Fabulous views of the Cuillin and the wildlife was incredible - spent a lovely half hour watching a pair of sea eagles from the cottage, plus saw golden eagles and an otter. Fabulous walking - a perfect week away. Can't recommend MacKinnon highly enough - thank you!
We had just a lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The cottage is so very comfortable and has everything you could ever need while away from home. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore the best Skye has to offer. We would love to come back to this spot and we really didn't want to leave. It's a very special place.
We had a wonderful stay at Blue Sea Cottage! The view from the home is amazing and the sun room is the perfect place to enjoy it. The bedrooms are comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom is large and the bathtub was such a luxury. The kitchen space and cooking supplies were perfect for us to cook meals every day. We are already eager for a return trip to Skye!
We had a fantastic stay in Shepherd’s Cottage. Loved the cottage with all the details and available supplies, its settings the animals outside the property, and the lovely caretaker we met at the end of our stay. We could not wish for more. H&I’s Cottages also is a very good organisation with lots of information.
Tidal Cottage is in a fantastic location with views of the Red Cuillins, Scalpay and Loch Carron from the front windows and garden. The only sounds at night were the distant cries of the birds on the estuary, lulling us to sleep. The cottage is well positioned for access to all parts of South Skye and beyond. The local village of Broadford is only about 5 minutes drive for shops and Restaurants. The Cottage is immaculately decorated, furnished and equipped with everything you would need in holiday accommodation.
Allderburn House was in the perfect location, less than 5 min walk into the centre of Portree. A very well equipped and comfortable house. A perfect base for exploring Skye. Highly recommend.
very enjoyable week in duirnish, scenery spectacular and duirnish lodge and gardens a very nice place to stay
Claigan View was everything my wife and I wanted this Christmas - luxury accommodation in the middle of nowhere in a place very close to our hearts. The Isle of Skye is stunning and waking up to the magnificent views from the cottage was spectacular. Everything was perfect, and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending to our family and friends and anyone else looking for an unforgettable holiday on Skye! We loved every second of our stay at Claigan View.
We happened upon this cottage by chance; we were originally only looking for a room with ensuite (but the island was fully booked) and we would absolutely stay here again. The cottage is gorgeous. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need (except perishables, so do shop before you go); the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable; the view is unforgettable. The road to get to the cottage is Skye at its best: passing places; sharp turns; cattle grid. The long route will take you past all of the island highlights and gorgeous walks, and you take a stroll down to the sea from...more
Awesome! The Library isa place to go back to. All you can expect from a compassionate owner. Everything we need has been thought of. Thank you so very much. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you for the coffee and the goodies too.
Lovely house, plenty room, remote and peaceful location, beautiful scenery, great walks, quiet roads for biking.. would definitely recommend for a totally relaxing holiday.
A wonderful property with amazing views. The cottages was furnished to a very high standard with everything a family could wish for. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed at. Very comfortable and cosy yet spacious. We highly recommend Ard Na Mara and will stay stay there again.
We had such a wonderful time at Kinloch Follart. It's a beautiful, well-equipped, luxurious house in a magical part of the world and we were really sad to leave.
A great base for exploring Skye, with walks and beach right on the doorstep. The croft was well-equipped and a lovely, spacious yet cosy retreat when the weather was challenging, with the sun room a fantastic place to sit and enjoy the views by day, and listen to the owls at night!
We have a lovely stay at Almondbank Apartment. The guests are very nice. We enjoy the house location: you can access really easily all the skye island location. We recommand to book here.
Fantastic cottage. We had 6 guys in here for a week doing some mountaineering up on the Cuillin Hills. It is a really nice place, we are repeat customers from the year previous. 1 - The shower is weak, not what you want after a day on the hill. 2 - I would like a number so that I could inform the owners that I was leaving a day early, this would doubtless help them and make me feel happier about leaving the key in the agreed place but hardly secure. That is all I can think to drip about, we will book in next year.
We have visited Skye before. It is a well worn path, but have not enjoyed our stay so much as at Taob na Mara. The view is stunning, the accommodation clean, comfortable and stylish, with lots of small and well considered touches. What a great place to unwind. We will be back as soon as possible. John & Eimear
A clean, warm and comfortable property in a quiet but accessible location. It was lovely to watch the local wildlife and the views from the large picture windows, especially the baby rabbits playing in the garden. Set back from the main road between Portree and Uig, it was easy to drive around North Skye and further afield, if you wished. The nearest shops were in Portree, where there is a couple of Co-op supermarkets, as well as local food shops. The complimentary biscuits from the Skye Bakery were especially nice! The kitchen was well equipped and had all the essential facilities for a self...more
A good central location to tour the island. Lovely views from the window. Excellent welcoming touches and ideal for people looking for the experience of staying in a traditional north.
You can't have anything more, this cottage has got everything that you can have in Isle of Skye. Perfect place with family, kids even most suitable if you are having elderley people with you.
The house is nicely decorated, very well furnished where one can feel homely almost immediately. Next to a very good inn and located between Portree and Dunvegan, best place to discover the isle of Skye !
Absolutely perfect, spatious and modern cottage. Breathtaking views from the lounge did not get boring. Would highly recommend this cottage.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Glamaig Cottage. We were due to arrive a bit early, but emailed Highland and Islands Cottages the evening prior and got a response first thing in the morning to let us know we could check in early. The cottage was a short walk (note: it's a steep hill if your mobility is challenged) from the bus stop in Portree. Linda was there to greet us and show us the cottage on their property. She and Mike were very kind and had left us a bottle of wine and a fridge stocked with essentials for breakfast (bacon, eggs, milk, jams, bread...) so that we wouldn't ...more
The Steading is superbly located by the waterside and is a very well equipped modern property. We spent a very comfortable week with only one small problem involving the heating. With the arrival of wet and chilly weather we had to call the agents to arrange a plumber to get the heating working. The property is fitted with underfloor heating which was not working. The plumber did a good job however the heating of the main living room was still not working when we left. The entire heating system requires a complete service including each of the room control boxes none of which were working. Ov...more
A very bright and airy cottage with beautiful views. Huge private garden and easy access for vehicles. Inside, the cottage is very comfortable and spacious, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice. Clean and modern with high quality furniture and accessories. This part of the Island isn't as busy with tourists so the peace and quiet is welcome yet, it's an easy drive to most of the northern parts parts of Skye as well as Portree itself (if you really must go there!).
Excellent cottage very well furnished and a great place to relax.Great for families with dogs but no compromise as very well appointed and extremely clean and welcoming.
Incleibles vistas de la bahía de Erb. Croft con encanto. El saloncito de atrás y el jardín muy lindos. Volveríamos de nuevo.
This was our 4th visit to this cottage. It is just the job for a short break away for an annual reunion for two old friends. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and functional (btw the DVD player doesn’t work). Tucked away in a quiet spot on NE Skye it provides a good base for climbing the Cuillins, exploring the Quiraing and having a drink in the Flodigarry Hotel. Thanks, we hope to be back.
I booked the whole house for my family to join us for our wedding in Scotland. Both the housekeeper and the owner were both very helpful and good and communicating. Our stay was very enjoyable and the location is just lovely. We actually ended up moving our wedding location to the slip owned by the house and it could not have been more idyllic. The area is lovely and peaceful and a very short distance to the bridge over to Skye.
Great cottage, beautiful and confortable! Everything has been really OK. Just one word to describe that: Amazing!
Nice quiet property in owner's back garden though we never actually met. Very well equipped and comfortable with wood burning stove (firewood supplied) and underfloor heating. Great shower too. Nice view through the shrubs at end of garden to the Loch and hills. Plenty of parking. About 20 minute's walk from centre of Portree, it's a really good base from which to drive to all points on the island and enjoy the walks and majestic scenery. Plenty of good places to eat in Portree but kitchen also v well equipped for cooking at home. If you like fish there is a fantastic but slightly hard to find...more
The Old Byre is in a good location for travelling around Skye. The cottage is equipped with everything you may need and is very comfortable. Although you knew the hosts were there, they did not intrude at all. I only saw them passing on the way to their café or if I went in there; however as a solo female traveller it was good to know they were close by if needed. The welcome pack was a nice touch. The only reason I have only marked VFM as "good" is that this year I found Skye and Scotland in general to be more expensive; that said it would be fair to add that this property was on a par with o...more
The view from the lounge window was stunning you would never get tired of looking the house was well equipped with lots of books dvds and games to keep you occupied we had a very relaxing week
This cottage is just perfect - tastefully decorated and furnished and in an ideal coastal location with an inn and a restaurant only a couple of doors away on either side.If we ever move to Skye this is the sort of cottage we would want to buy - I can't praise it any more highly than that!
Spacious house, esp. living areas with amazing views of sea/landscapes. Good area for walks & views.
We can thoroughly recommend this cottage. Great location . Interesting beach. Quiet village with shop and cafe. Uncommercialised. Cottage very comfortable and clean with a good range of amenities
Tigh Anndra is a cosy, well equipped cottage in a stunning location in the North of the Isle of Skye. It contained everything we needed for our stay including some bits and pieces that we had forgotten such as foil and olive oil. We mostly didn't need any heating but, when we did, the towel rails in the bathroom provided enough warmth for the whole cottage. In saying that, the owner Angus had provided enough chopped wood for the wood burning stove to see us through the week if it had been cold. If there had been any problems, Angus only lives a short distance away and made a point of calling i...more
A small, practicable house in the capital of Skye with a very friendly Owner. We we're able to see a lot of Skye. It was a wonderful week. Thank you so much.
The Cottage is located at a nice place but is too small for 4 persons (2 adults and 2 teenagers). There is not enough space to handle stuff like wet outdoor jackets and towels, luggage and so on. The nice view cannot help when the table is in the kitchen (looking the nice kitchen combination) and not in the living room. To place a rectangular table in the Living room in front of the window and replacing the old fashioned seating area who is much too big for the small room, would allow equipping the kitchen with a bigger fridge and deepfreeze so that self-Catering for 4 persons is possible. Great location, 5 minutes walk to town. Easy free parking for one car. Large property with comfy lounge area. Everything you need for a home from home stay. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 mins walk.
Good standard, amenities and location. Very well equipped and comfortable for my mother. Many thanks!
Amazing cottage with amazing views. Good for a group. You have to have car to reach there or roam around. There is a small grocery store in 11mins away by car.
A perfect place to celebrate my husbands 40th. We will be back here in future! Everything was clean and the location you literally could not beat.
Had a great week staying at Laimhrig on the shore. Superb property in great location for exploring Skye. When not out we spent most of our time in the conservatory looking at the scenery and wildlife. Spotted otters in the garden a couple of times which was great. Plenty of bird life. Very well equipped property with plenty of space and useful guide books and maps available. Good size garden with access straight onto the shore of the loch.
My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at Tystie Cottage! The views from the front of the cottage are amazing! I could look at that view all day! The cottage itself was quite spacious and very good to have 3 en suite rooms! It was very comfortable and great having 2 sitting rooms! The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed! We will definately be returning to Tystie Cottage!
Very good, nice, clean, beds are great Location is good and heating/showers work perfect The WIFI was really disappointing, notified the owner and got an immediate response that this will be solved soon Some additional glasses would really help: no decent whiskey glass in Scotland is a missed opportunity Also no 6 equal plates are available, so adding some more plates, cups... could really help since there is room in the dishwasher A last possible improvement would be to add some extra shelves in bedrooms and the sinks in both bathrooms Mind this is a great cottage at a wonderful locatio...more
Two floors, washer/dryer combo mid-vacation (Yay!), Co-op and restaurants within walking distance, central to the island, WiFi for the kids, Netflix on TV, bed and shower large enough for my 6'4"/194cm, ... What's not to like?! The whole trash separation business is rather involved for us from abroad. At home we use the green bins for recyclables, which to us makes more sense, and that just adds to the confusion. As a consequence we completely forgot to take out the regular trash when we left. Sorry!
A cosy cottage with ample space for all of us. Very well situated for exploring the whole island, Think the décor & fittings might be in line with local tradition (seen similar in Estate Agent's window) but seemed little dated - perfectly serviceable though.
A very nice place to stay, with enough room for the family. Well equipped with all you need from toilet to kitchen. Love the views and the special room to rest with family with windows to all the views.
Lovely house well equipped, warm and cosy. Only minus was the very poor tv system which required fiddling with daily
This house was our perfect basecamp for our three night stay on the Isle of Skye. Located far away from any tourist routes in the south west near the highest mountains of the island it let us feel like we are somewhere in the east of Iceland. The house was very well equipped and we felt comfortable without internet and mobile phone connections. Only the fact that the floor and some dishes weren‘t that clean made a first bad impression to us. Nevertheless this house is a good recommendation for everyone seeking calm.
Despite the worst of weather the week we stayed in Skye we had a lovely time. The furnishings were rustic and cosy and fitted the setting. The wood burning stoves were great and we lit the living room/kitchen one every evening. We lit the one in the bedroom only 1 evening. The flat was sound proof and with extra thick walls we were not going to be disturbed or cold. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The wifi was good in an evening but a bit hit and miss during the day. There was enough to check emails but no netflix viewing :-).There was one day when we looked...more
Lovely compact cottage with all expected amenities. Lovely location to act as a base to explore the whole of Skye. Easy to find.
Wonderful cottage in an idyllic location. Quiet location off the beaten track but only a very short walk to the main part of Plockton and the shops, pubs and restaurants. Particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden by the loch in the evening sun.
Loch Mealt View was the ideal location for our time on Skye.Close to main road in Staffin but far enough for privacy.Cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed.Ideal base for visiting attractions. Will definitely bo booking again.
This is a lovely cottage with a great location for the south of the island and not to mention getting back to the mainland for the likes of Plockton and Applecross (via the "pass" is amazing!!). It's very compact internally but most of the time is out and about. The thing that let this cottage down for us was the cleanliness, especially in the likes of the kitchen. Granted 5 star luxury and cleanliness isn't expected but neither is having to almost spring clean the kitchen before using it or the items within. Shame really.
A stunning location and lovely cottage. However in kitchen some pans put away dirty. Coffee machine had been left with used coffee grounds and filter which had gone mouldy. Shower cubicle door very difficult to open fully and came away from end fixings. Position near to toilet made access and exit difficult. Both toilet roll holders broken! Would recommend if issues sorted.
House has a nice location (seaside) and a good terras. Condition of the house is fine but it lacks a coffeemaker. The kitchen is a bit small to sit with 4 people. Minor ‘problems’.
Very comfortable, appreciated the upmarket shower and bath gell, and suprisingly quiet, given its central location.
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
Solid fuel heating is not suitable for a short break It takes time to fill the stove and the fire.A simpler form of heating would have been better.
We were very pleased with the accommodation and the fittings. The cottage is easy to manage and convenient for a pleasant shore and for a short drive in to Portree. It is a place of great calm. It would be nice for the outside "garden" to mirror the standard of the inside of the house but you can't have everything! We will book again.
This cottage is in a very desolate condition, in each room! And on top dark bed-clothing and towels to cover.
We love to stay in this cottage, it is comfy and cosy and has a great spot on the island ! The cottage is clean, has everything you need for a wonderful stay So great we can bring our dogs and making such beautiful walks !!
Lovely cottage in a beautiful spot: very quiet (except for the wind, which you expect on Skye). Downstairs there is a dining room with sofa and living room with TV, both with stoves which make it very cosy once they are going and which we needed as it was freezing outside. Our first evening was abit cold as no fuel supplied to do even 1 fire, which was a shame and different to other places we have visited, which expect you to get your own ongoing fuel, but usually leave a fire laid/ enough for first night. Both rooms have lovely views out to the valley and sea beyond. We needed the stoves as s...more
It is really annoying that there is a water boiler for both apartments in the one and only bedroom of one of them. What a lack of customer's respect. Also a very tiny fridge for a place that is 50 miles away roundtrip to the closest supermarket!!!. One single frying pan that is in a terrible state. The garden shack and the cleaning devices inside the cottage are in an horrendous mess. The path leading to the house is a jungle that scratches the paintwork of your car. Also the center of the path is so high that it can actually stop your car in the midst of its course The price paid is way...more
Sat on the hillside looking up the loch back to Stein and Waternish, you really don't need to switch the tv on or connect to the wifi to check your phone. Beautiful big house with the most gorgeous lounge and views to die for. I was met on by my lovely host Lynette on my first night who welcomed me into the house and nothing would be too much trouble for her.
Cottage was good but I have the following 'constructive' comments: Fridge not cleaned properly - there was a feather(!) in one of the compartments. Extractor does not work in downstairs shower room. Various bathroom fittings - toilet roll holders not fully secured to wall. No wall razor socket (unsure if this was stated in cottage notes) Overall, not quite worth the money paid - given the above feedback. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Nigel Downes
Excellent views out of the windows. Very good equipment. Very quiet. Starting point for hiking. Awesome holidays. Thank you!
This is a lovely spot - the house is comfortable and good for small family. The Biar smelt a little damp, but was fine otherwise.
We have visited this cottage for many years and love it. If there is any negative, it is just that it now looks very tired especially outside, a reasonable bench or garden seat would be lovely. Islands and Highlands are great at dealing with any issues. Well done team. We would still visit this cottage as our favourite location.
The location is beautiful and the house is lovely. But the kitchen ground was not clean, neither the cutlery and the pans. In the kitchen was no hot water, so we had to boil water for the dishes. The shower did not work properly, the water was not constantly hot. The duvets, pillows and matras were dirty, the covers were clean.
