The cottage is well thought out, with everything you need for a self catering holiday to hand. Well equipped and nicely located just a few minutes walk from Portree, it is a lovely base to explore the island from.
We had the most amazing stay at The Ploughman’s Cottage. Location is perfect and exactly what we wanted - it’s right in between Portree and Dunvegan and near to Waternish so perfect for driving around but has restaurants (Edinbane Inn and Edinbane Lodge) just 5 minutes walk from the cottage on nights we didn’t want to drive or fancied a drink. The sunsets we seen from the cottage were wonderful and the real fire inside made the rougher, wetter nights just as fantastic. Everything at the cottage is of a high standard - new washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer all appliances et...more
Great property, with a nice location. Just enough out of the way, but not far to Portree. Highly recommended and I would go back
I was on Skye for a photography trip and the accommodation was ideal for my needs. The chalet was warm, comfortable and well equipped. In short I lacked for nothing.
We had a wonderful week in Cuillin Cottage. It’s a new-build property, extremely clean and bright, warm and well-insulated. The beds are really comfortable and there is complete peace and quiet. Good location for getting to the main sights on the island. Great communication from Highlands and Islands Cottages too. Thoroughly recommended for a holiday on Skye.
Ben Edra Croft is well equipped, bright and clean and really well laid out. Amazing views from all the windows- we could have gazed out for hours! Lovely to have some garden space too especially with children. We really loved our stay and will be back I'm sure.
We loved our stay on Waternish point - and our walk around the point was one of the highlights of our stay in Skye. Mr Barbour's guest accommodation is spotlessly clean and he was very kind in accepting some post for us that arrived during our stay. We loved the rheas too! Do note that the house is almost at the end of the road - we arrived in the middle of the night and didn't drive far enough! But if you're arriving in daylight you'll spot it easily across his immaculately mowed lawn!
We had a great time at the cottage. Everything you need is there. Highly recommend. Owners were lovely. We stayed 2 weeks. You will need a car to travel to see all the lovely places on Skye.
We had a most wonderful stay at Strathaird House in May this year. The house had everything we needed and was super comfortable. It was so lovely to have a basket of local produce on arrival. The location was fabulous and we spent many a happy hour in and around Elgol and the local 'hill'! Many many thanks to Adrienne and James for making this a really special stay.
The Mill is a beautiful house with lots of character. Absolutely everything we needed was provided and we felt very much at home. The house was warm, It was very clean, there’s lots of space and the showers were great - important after a long day walking! Seamus and Maggie gave us a lovely welcome and were very kind. The location is great. It was lovely to walk down to the shore of the beautiful bay at sunset and look out for the otters and seals. It’s very close to so many beautiful places in Skye including the falls of Rha, the fairy glen, and the Quairang. It made a great base...more
A well equipped and clean cottage in a stunning location by a Loch. Good location for provisions in Portreee ( large Co-Op on outskirts) and exploring the island.
A fabulous and very comfortable cottage with spectacular views - one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in! Good location on Skye and it had a very homely feel.
Superb little cottage for 2. Really everything provided you can think off!! Will come back for sure. Skye stole our hearts!
This is an amazing wee gem. The condition and cleanliness of the place is amazing, it was kitted out with everything you could need, and more than enough space and furniture for the nine adults that were staying. We loved it so much we are looking for an excuse to come back and stay, thanks so much!
Morven Cottage is extremely well equipped with high quality fittings, it is warm because of the underfloor heating and has everything you need. The view is gorgeous, we will definitely be staying again.
A beautiful location & house & an extremely well equipped cottage, the owner has thought of a lot with the remote location of the chalet. We were unfortunate to be staying in the cottage during the time of a critical water shortage for the hamlet, this came with restrictions with staying within the house, we would have felt satisfied with this had we been told about all restrictions prior to arrival. We weren’t told we wouldn’t be allowed to shower in the cottage & would be asked to drive 30mins for a shower & pay £3 per person. The private water source is obviously an issue during dry spells,...more
Amazing place to stay! Beautiful open concept home with lovely artwork and amazing views. We stayed here for our elopement and were amazed by the home. Wonderful lighting and just a short drive to town. We would love to come back and bring the family. 10/10 would recommend!!!
Our 4th holiday in the steadings. Comfortable and clean. Lovely views from the window. Lovely sunset. Convenient to get to most places in Skye.
Shepherd’s Cottage is a lovely cottage in a wonderful location close to a sea loch. Fantastic for bird watching and wildlife, with great walks from your doorstep. We saw golden eagles flying from the kitchen window! The peace and calm is glorious. Inside the cottage warm, surprisingly spacious and comfortable. It was good to have the use of the excellent wood-burning stove on a couple of chillier evenings. All in all, a superb place for a holiday.
Very peaceful and well appointed cottage in the north of Skye. Decorated to a very high standard throughout with all mod cons. Quiet road to and from cottage. Plenty of walks in area (great walk along the cliffs right from the cottage). Great retreat for couple looking for a quiet peaceful stay. Highly recommend.
Views to die for. Everything we needed. Loads of free firewood supplied by the owner. Very quiet. Remote (You need a car). Fantatstic !
Highly recommend the Alderburn for a group / family. Perfectly located on the edge of town - a two minute walk brings you to the lovely town of Portree with its assortment of shops, cafes and restaurants. The property, with 3 double bedrooms (1 en suite), beautiful views of the bay from the lounge, large kitchen/ dining space and outdoor seating areas in the garden, was ideal for a family holiday with teenagers ( good wifi too). The property is well looked after, very clean and my bed was really comfortable. We met the owners son, Ross, while we were there and he was lovely too. He and the hou...more
The property was beautiful, very comfortable and very well equipped. It is easily accessible, but also in a very peaceful and private location. The welcome pack was a lovely addition, nice to be able to make a cup of tea/coffee on arrival. We did feel it was rather expensive though.
This was our first trip to Skye and although it rained almost continuously, was immensely enjoyable due to the high quality of the cottage and it’s furnishings. There are lots of spectacular walks and viewing points close by, in particular, Duntulm castle and the walk at Rubha Hunish.
A beautifully presented home with lovely facilities and views, and local walks. Not the house for you if you aren't a fan of single track roads, however! Very warm and cosy.
Fantastic cottage. We had 6 guys in here for a week doing some mountaineering up on the Cuillin Hills. It is a really nice place, we are repeat customers from the year previous. 1 - The shower is weak, not what you want after a day on the hill. 2 - I would like a number so that I could inform the owners that I was leaving a day early, this would doubtless help them and make me feel happier about leaving the key in the agreed place but hardly secure. That is all I can think to drip about, we will book in next year.
Spacious cottage. Convenient location for Northern Skye. Lovely, secure garden with plenty of space for kids and dog. Homely touches such as flowers provided. Really clean. A great week. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic stay at Skye Garden Accommodation - lovely little cottage in a private garden. It was the perfect base to explore Skye and Portree itself - it's about a 10 min walk into town with lovely restaurants and shops, but also far enough away from the centre to be lovely and peaceful without cars and tourists passing by. The cottage had everything we needed to cater for ourselves and rest after some long days walking.
Great house and location. Great view of the bays and Cuilins when the mist lifts. ...................
Perfect property with everything you could need. The owners had thought of everything and the little touches were perfect such as the welcome pack, games, picnic equipment, binoculars, etc. The property is beautifully decorated throughout and is in an amazing location for exploring Skye. I would highly recommend staying at An Caladh.
Everything we wanted. Delightful and helpful owners, wonderful week. Everything was extremely clean and tidy Thank you.
Isay Cottage is without doubt one of the very best cottages we have stayed in. It is spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and really cosy for an autumn stay. There were only two of us but there’s plenty of space for more. The front garden is a great place for a sunset G&T, even in October, and the view so close to the coast is lovely. The Lochbay restaurant is a few doors away and well worth considering. The Stein Inn appears to be a bit hit and miss according to reviews but we had two good evenings there - and they have a great whisky collection! In October the area was very quiet ...more
Lovely week stay at Kilmartim cottage. The house is so spacious and ideal location with stunning views - defo recommend!
This is a large cottage that is in excellent condition - fantastic facilities and three bathrooms with loads of hot water which was great in the middle of winter! A lovely welcome pack when we arrived with loads of information about Skye. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Have only given good for VFM because accommodation in Skye is very expensive at New Year - not so much a comment on this house as the costs generally.
We absolutely loved staying in the house and the beautiful location. I swam in the loch at the bottom of the garden most days and we all enjoyed the gorgeous garden. Also, the table tennis was a great bonus. What's more, the weather was glorious all week so we had great fun exploring Dunvegan and venturing further afield. We were very sad to leave!
Awesome place to stay! Would return. Great location. Cosy and clean. Lots of space to enjoy with the family and beautiful views from the windows.
This is a beautiful cottage in an amazing location. The pictures really don't do justice to this amazing location, it's in an incredible spot. The cottage itself is well equipped for a comfortable stay and the owner, Angus, was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. We would highly recommend this cottage.
The cottage was fully equipped with modern appliances and everything you could ever need. The owners had thought of everything and welcomed us with a lovely care package on arrival. The location was ideal, in a quiet spot, yet easily accessible for all the main tourist sites. The view of the Cuillin from the bedroom window was a bonus! The room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a really comfortable bed. There was a good selection of dvds to choose from which was a lovely touch. As well as lots of books and maps of the local area. The owners had also printed out a full folder of ...more
A very bright and airy cottage with beautiful views. Huge private garden and easy access for vehicles. Inside, the cottage is very comfortable and spacious, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice. Clean and modern with high quality furniture and accessories. This part of the Island isn't as busy with tourists so the peace and quiet is welcome yet, it's an easy drive to most of the northern parts parts of Skye as well as Portree itself (if you really must go there!).
Lovely weekend stay at the Bothy 7, very welcoming cosy stay with Biscuits and Prosecco as a welcome on arrival. Very clean and well equipped Kitchen considering COVID restrictions. Only small niggle was that one of the sofas leg rest wasn’t working so it didn’t feel as comfortable as it could have been and an extra seat by the window would’ve been lovely to sit and watch the views over Portree. Bath was so relaxing and even the shower was luxurious, dressing gowns were also a nice touch. Would recommend a stay at the Bothy 7 to everyone looking for a special break away.
Wonderful location on Staffin Bay.Lovely cottage which was very clean and had everything we needed.Very comfortable and great value for money .View of Quiraing from lounge window was amazing- even in the mist.
Very comfortable home . Warm and cosy. Plenty hot water.Wonderful views . Good position for visiting sites
Comfortable and stylish house, with a lovely view across the fields to the harbour with distant islands on the horizon. We found lots of walks both straight from the house and a short drive away so didn't feel the need to venture far from home in our week. First-time visitors to the further reaches of Skye or the far North-West of Scotland should probably remember that travel along single-track roads can be fairly slow (and then factor in camper vans to make it slower), and the range of local food stores is limited. But that is all part of the pleasure of getting away to these gorgeous par...more
Lovely cosy warm cottage with safe enclosed garden. Fantastic views - good local shop and places to eat. Great base for exploring the northern areas of Skye.
There were long dark hairs in the double bed, so the bedded had clearly not been changed. There were also dark hairs in the bath showing it had not been cleaned. There was a greasy spoon rest on top of the cooker and the kitchen floor was sticky, again illustrating the cottage had not been serviced and cleaned. This is completely unacceptable.
Lovely cottage in a really good location. Fabulous views from the living room which is light and airy with lovely big windows looking east. If there is a good sunrise it's fantastic. Well equipped cottage although a few more glasses and cups would probably help a larger group. A chest of drawers in the main bedroom would be more useful than the old sofa and updating the dark furniture in the second bedroom would give it a brighter feel. However, these are minor points and I'd go back to this cottage without hesitation. It's comfortable, spacious, bright, easy to reach and to access other parts...more
The cottage was ideally situated and very comfortable. The owners gave us a warm welcome and were extremely kind and generous with their starter pack. We would definitely return and despite the weather had a lovely time.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was very clean. A perfect size although these was only two of us. It was so quiet-a short distance up a minor road but still central for getting out and about. And close to Portree where there is a great Co-op for shopping. Plenty space to park your car. The kitchen is very well equipped with nice plates/cups etc. Great dish washer and washing machine. Living room has a lovely view and nice comfy seats and settee. Would recommend The Galley for fish and chips on the road up to Uig. If you want take away though you need to pre order! We would ...more
We really enjoyed our stay at Sorley's house, the location overlooking the sea was perfect. The property was clean and comfortable.
Very nice self catering accommodation. Silent, though in near of the main street. Great view out of the sitting room windows! Near to the center, where all the bars are ;-) The lock of one toilet doors was broken, but this was not a show stopper. Eventually my wife could escape ;-)
For a 4 bedroom cottage in August this was really good value for money. It looked attractive, clean and spacious in the photos and the reality didn't disappoint. It was a spacious, pleasant house, with everything that an extended family of 8 needed. It had amazing views from almost every room! Though comfy and tidy I would not describe it as especially luxurious, but if you want that you probably have to expect to pay a lot more. It was comfortable, clean and functional, it had everything we needed, and we were very happy there with no problems at all. If you are looking for something really m...more
Perfect location, with fantastic views. Our first evening was spent watching the sunset over the Cuillins, incredible! Very comfortable, modern, spacious house, and very well equipped. We enjoyed every part of our holiday. The Sleat Peninsula is a beautiful part of Skye with lots to explore. We’d definitely recommend it.
We enjoyed our stay, the house was comfortable and with good insulation, great bathrooms and hot water ( although there were only a couple of mirrors, none near a stocket, and no hairdryer ) We found the kitchen a bit dark as several bulbs needed replaced, unfortunately they weren’t replaced during our stay, seems there was a mix up with the owners. I’m sure they have been replaced by now as everything else was in order. The oven was also in need of a good clean and some ovenware was needing replaced. We had taken foil baking trays with us so not a problem for us, also one tea towel for 5 pe...more
Excellent location with clear views of loch and mountains (when not raining!). Very comfortable cottage with excellent bed and superb shower. Kitchen fully equipped with all you could need to cook.
I'm very impressed with Highlands and Islands Cottages, they were extremely helpful, quick to respond to queries, very thorough with information and arrangements and friendly to top it all off. Booking was easy and the keys were handy with a key safe arrangement. The cottage exceeded our expectations: large, comfortable and welcoming, exceptionally well equipped, with efficient heating. It felt very friendly and lived-in - hence 4 rather than 5 stars for cleanliness and condition, it had been very thoroughly cleaned but there were minor signs of use around the place. For us that made it much...more
We really enjoyed our stay at 8 Kildonan. The views were delightful from the conservatory. It was private and pleasant having its own garden which our children loved. The rooms were tastefully decorated and clean. We enjoyed exploring the area. We would recommend it to others.
Small, basic house in a fabulous location looking out to Staffin Island. Had everything needed. Only real niggle was the storage heater in the lounge came on overnight and not during the day. This meant it was very warm whilst sleeping and cool when arriving back at the house at the end of the day. There wasn't any instructions to try and alter it other than an explanation that if it was turned off it would take 24 hours to release any heat again. Plenty of hot water for showers and baths. Great location and a nice walk down to the dinosaur beach each day which when the tide was out is a g...more
The cottage is tired and in need of refurbishment. The furniture is old and shabby. The open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room is small for 6 to 8 people. We were 3 adults and 3 children and found it very limited for living space.
Lovely practical well equipped accommodation with a very homely feel and relaxed air, with lots of light. Nothing not to like and will definitely book again, so handy for a stroll into centre of town and the harbour.
Excellent location, comfortable accommodation. Good hot water and heating. I would recommend to others
The flat is a well proportioned self-catering option for travellers to Skye. The assigned parking was very much an asset for the property given the lack of parking in Portree in general. The kitchen is decently equipped for making basic meals like breakfast/fry up, and for heating up ready meals from the local coop. Not sure whether it's a Covid restriction or not, but the staples for the kitchen were not present (i.e. no tin foil, no salt, pepper, oil, etc.) The main problem we had was with the hot water. There were two days with cold showers, and when the hot water was on, it was dangerously...more
Cosy cottage with gorgeous views of Uig harbour which is only a 15 minute walk away. Well equipped kitchen with table and chairs for 4 people. Bedrooms were spacious albeit very hot when we visited. Skylight windows don’t open far plus due to lots of midges you don’t want to open anyway. TV in lounge was good. Outside garden is nice to sit outside in afternoon sun but could do with a small table and chairs as there is only a wooden bench out back. Single track road outside cottage can get busy. All in all a nice stay at a very reasonable price
It was a great cottage, in a great location. The equipment and decoration was great, with the TV and Broadband working really well. The lounge and bedrooms were really comfortable. However, there were a few little pitfalls/ issues to feedback. 1) The gas is by cylinder but there are no instructions what to do if a cylinder runs out. We think this is why we couldnt get the gas fire to work although we didnt want to mess about with it. 2) There are no fans: It would be good to have for when it is hot, but the main issue we had was that there were overnight roadworks and it would have been goo...more
I booked this cottage almost last-minute for a stay on the Isle of Skye, about a week before I set off, and have no regrets about it. I was alone and so although the cottage is small (it has enough beds for five people, but I would personally recommend it for a party of two or three at most) it didn't feel cramped for me. It was clean and comfortable, with everything - bed linen, cutlery, soaps, bin liners etc. - supplied except for food and towels. The remote location is nevertheless well-suited for exploring the island, being only a short and scenic drive away from the main road through Broa...more
This is the second time Wev stayed here In Elgol, it’s our special place. We love it. So cosy, love it has two fire places for the living room and bedroom. Best feeling after a long hike in Elgol coming back to cosy hidden away peaceful and quite cottage. Also the sofa and bed are so comfortable. Felt so at peace here. We stayed for 6 nights this time. Wish we could of stayed for longer. Elgol is magical. Waking up to sheep & cows. we even saw a lone stag at night by the gates of the cottage. Our stay at the Loch Mealt View was just amazing. The location was simply amazing. It was so serene and calm. The morning view from the cottage is something to behold. The cottage was spotless and the comfort level was unparalleled. Loved the beds as they were so comfy. As far as the cottage owners are concerned, I have to give them a special mention here as they have been amazing hosts. We reported a couple of minor issues one with a WiFi, a duvet cover that had a rip and a broken plate - the agents who look after the property reported it to the cottage owner and within an hour I got an email...more
Beautiful, cosy house and fabulous location. Great for quiet and peaceful getaways. Definitely returning!
We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the view and the comfort of the cottage very much !! Fresh bedlinen and towels, and the cottage was clean. Isle of Skye is fantastic and the cottage is situated great on the island. We looking forward to come and stay again :)
Fantastic house couldn’t have asked for anything more so much to do and see dunvegan castle is a must well worth the money only negative was the tv unable to get it to work as we had elderly parents with us this was a miss to them
Beautiful location with beach 2 minutes walk and longer walks with amazing views from the door. Only 10 minutes drive from Portree. Very cosy and comfortable bedroom. Bedroom bathroom and kitchen area spotlessly clean - only reason for lower score on cleanliness and comfort is that the sofa and chairs in living area are in definite need of replacement.
I have stayed many times at the Stationmaster's House but this is the first privately. Good accommodation and location.
The cottage was clean and tidy with all relevant equipment. We have stayed in this cottage before, some years ago and I think we forgot how small it is however for the short period we were there, it was fine. The one great pity is that the best views are from the landing skylight and the VERY cool porch area. Not a thing that can be easily remedied in such an old property. Kind note from housekeeper warning of midges but we were never bothered this visit.
Quiet cottage in a central position to explore the island. Only down side was that there was no WIFI and it wasn't rectified in the two weeks we were there.
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
I had to defrost the freezer compartment completely to get anything in it. Even then it is very small which is fine just about when there are two of you but it absolutely wouldn’t be if you had four people staying there. The plumbing is A bit odd. Sometimes when you run the bath the sink tap comes on as well. The shower is also a bit poor being an immersion one. Nearly all of the curtains are hanging off in various places. We thought it was a little bit mean that there were no logs left at all, not even a starter pack. The property is very good for dogs however which was our main reason for b...more
Lovely clean cottage. Bedroom ceiling Coombed so bit awkward even for me at 5 ft 1! Had everything you needed. Couch not that comfy. Good location for traveling about.
As a keen walker, cyclist and photographer, Allt Slapin was perfectly located for exploring the Strathaird area of south Skye. There were spectacular views of both Blabheinn and the Red Cuillins without even having to leave the cottage and its garden. I arrived at Allt Slapin by bicycle from Kyle of Lochalsh, so it is a feasible location without a car if you are reasonably fit. Perhaps par for the course on Skye, there were several very wet days, but the cottage was very warm and comfortable to return to, and had all the amenities you need for drying out after a day in the rain. Cookin...more
Cosy cottage in beautiful location Spectacular views of the Cuillins Just a short 20 minute drive to Broadford to get supplies Track to the house was a bit rough and a few potholes to navigate Kitchen cupboards and oven would benefit from a deep clean but generally a nice warm, well equipped, pretty cottage and we had a lovely holiday there
A traditional cottage with lovely views to the Outer Hebrides in a very peaceful location. Other cottages are dotted around but it is not a village. Make sure you bring all the food etc you need as there is no shop within walking distance. It is very quiet and we hardly saw anyone. The 2 bedrooms are large, bright and have wonderful views: bedrooms are comfortable with plenty storage space. There is a king size bed in one room; the other room has a double bed and also a single bed. Good for a family. One bathroom which was very clean. Kitchen and living / dining area area is one open pla...more
