We had the most amazing stay at The Ploughman’s Cottage. Location is perfect and exactly what we wanted - it’s right in between Portree and Dunvegan and near to Waternish so perfect for driving around but has restaurants (Edinbane Inn and Edinbane Lodge) just 5 minutes walk from the cottage on nights we didn’t want to drive or fancied a drink. The sunsets we seen from the cottage were wonderful and the real fire inside made the rougher, wetter nights just as fantastic. Everything at the cottage is of a high standard - new washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer all appliances et...more
Loved our stay cottage was very clean. Views are fantastic Would recommend for holidays in northern skye
A lovely modern accommodation ideally situated to explore the area. Wonderful views and great outdoor space for relaxing and dining.
Stunning property in a stunning location. Spotlessly clean, cosy, really comfortable, brilliantly well-equipped...we've stayed in a lot of self-catering properties and this rates among the best. All this plus a stunning location: Ord is beautiful and so quiet. Fabulous views of the Cuillin and the wildlife was incredible - spent a lovely half hour watching a pair of sea eagles from the cottage, plus saw golden eagles and an otter. Fabulous walking - a perfect week away. Can't recommend MacKinnon highly enough - thank you!
We had just a lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The cottage is so very comfortable and has everything you could ever need while away from home. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore the best Skye has to offer. We would love to come back to this spot and we really didn't want to leave. It's a very special place.
A lovely spot away from everything; fine views and walks from the doorstep Everything needed for a cosy stay in a remote location
The Mill is a beautiful house with lots of character. Absolutely everything we needed was provided and we felt very much at home. The house was warm, It was very clean, there’s lots of space and the showers were great - important after a long day walking! Seamus and Maggie gave us a lovely welcome and were very kind. The location is great. It was lovely to walk down to the shore of the beautiful bay at sunset and look out for the otters and seals. It’s very close to so many beautiful places in Skye including the falls of Rha, the fairy glen, and the Quairang. It made a great base...more
We had a most wonderful stay at Strathaird House in May this year. The house had everything we needed and was super comfortable. It was so lovely to have a basket of local produce on arrival. The location was fabulous and we spent many a happy hour in and around Elgol and the local 'hill'! Many many thanks to Adrienne and James for making this a really special stay.
You could not get better , lovely house well kitted out , plenty of space for the seven of us , ideal
A fabulous and very comfortable cottage with spectacular views - one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in! Good location on Skye and it had a very homely feel.
This was our first time on Skye, cottage and location fantastic with everything you would want and more. Views to die for over looking the loch with walks straight from cottage. A lovely tranquil retreat and the weather was brilliant as an added bonus. Being in a central location makes it easy to access all parts of Skye. We will definitely come back again to Shepherds Cottage.
The house lived up to expectations and photos are very accurate. We loved this cottage and it’s location. Easy to explore all of Skye and not too far from facilities at Portree . I would love to come back and spend time here again
First class accommodation with the bonus of the very helpful owner living next door. Convenient for Portree centre and lovely view over the harbour. The Cuillin Hills Hotel is nearby for a drink or meal but book well in advance.
When we arrived at Tigh na Laige, the heating was on & it was warm & inviting. The owner had left us a bottle of prosecco,as well as some chocolates & biscuits...that was a lovely touch! The cottage had a wonderful view towards the Outer Hebrides & it was well equipped for two people to have a peaceful holiday. It was clean & comfortable & one of the best cottages we have stayed in on Isle of Skye. It is in a quiet location, but not far from Portree,so was was convenient to drive to all parts of tnhe island. We had a great holiday!
We happened upon this cottage by chance; we were originally only looking for a room with ensuite (but the island was fully booked) and we would absolutely stay here again. The cottage is gorgeous. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need (except perishables, so do shop before you go); the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable; the view is unforgettable. The road to get to the cottage is Skye at its best: passing places; sharp turns; cattle grid. The long route will take you past all of the island highlights and gorgeous walks, and you take a stroll down to the sea from...more
Lovely house, plenty room, remote and peaceful location, beautiful scenery, great walks, quiet roads for biking.. would definitely recommend for a totally relaxing holiday.
Loved the cottage and its location. Great views from the lounge window and the garden. Very well equipped and very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean which was very reassuring at this time. Would definitely recommend.
Super stay at Morwen Cottage. The location was remote (about an hour and a half from Skye Bridge) but the last word in luxury with the most amazing views. The kitchen was fully kitted out; the little extras like jigsaws and binoculars were so appreciated. Walking, kayaking and chilling - just what was needed. Food shop well before you arrive on the island and enjoy the local shops for the fresh additions.
One Mill Lands is a very well equipped house in a lovely situation overlooking Uig bay. We found it very quiet and peaceful here with everything on hand that we would need to enjoy a family holiday. My elderly mother was comfortable in an ensuite room on the ground floor and housekeeping was able to supply an extra bed to accommodate our needs. My teenage sons enjoyed hillwalking, canoeing and fishing on a chartered boat. Day-tripping to see the sights of Skye was enhanced by the sunshine. The property now has a hot tub which is fantastic to use at the end of the day. Lovely house which I woul...more
Highly recommend the Alderburn for a group / family. Perfectly located on the edge of town - a two minute walk brings you to the lovely town of Portree with its assortment of shops, cafes and restaurants. The property, with 3 double bedrooms (1 en suite), beautiful views of the bay from the lounge, large kitchen/ dining space and outdoor seating areas in the garden, was ideal for a family holiday with teenagers ( good wifi too). The property is well looked after, very clean and my bed was really comfortable. We met the owners son, Ross, while we were there and he was lovely too. He and the hou...more
Lovely house in wonderful location. You can admire the loch views from comfort of the aptly named sun room. House is well equipped, comfy and spacious with the owners nearby to deal with any difficulties. The village in Cabost is nearby with local shop and a fine pub. If I were to suggest any improvements it would be to the WiFi and water pressure in shower both of which are quite weak but it maybe the price you pay for the location. Fabulous place to enjoy the magic of Skye.
Excellent location for exploring. Anne and David were lovely hosts and could not have been more helpful. Room was spotless and comfortable with a great view.
very enjoyable stay if you want remote this is the place to go to. the two feral cats are always looking for food so you get a big welcome when you return after a day out.
A beautifully presented home with lovely facilities and views, and local walks. Not the house for you if you aren't a fan of single track roads, however! Very warm and cosy.
Fantastic cottage. We had 6 guys in here for a week doing some mountaineering up on the Cuillin Hills. It is a really nice place, we are repeat customers from the year previous. 1 - The shower is weak, not what you want after a day on the hill. 2 - I would like a number so that I could inform the owners that I was leaving a day early, this would doubtless help them and make me feel happier about leaving the key in the agreed place but hardly secure. That is all I can think to drip about, we will book in next year.
This is a large cottage that is in excellent condition - fantastic facilities and three bathrooms with loads of hot water which was great in the middle of winter! A lovely welcome pack when we arrived with loads of information about Skye. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Have only given good for VFM because accommodation in Skye is very expensive at New Year - not so much a comment on this house as the costs generally.
After a 2 day trip to get to the accommodation it did not disappoint it is down some rather bumpy back roads, remember to turn left by the phone boxing it is on the left. The accommodation was clean and spacious with great views from the windows a nice large kitchen diner and living room, the telly is a bit awkward to watch due to it position and the light evenings. The bathroom was goos with a nice bath and shower. The main bedroom had plenty of cupboard space and a nice comfortable bed. One issue with the bedroom is the window there is a gap down one side due to its fitting and when it i...more
The house is in a lovely location & is ideal for a family get away, the children loved exploring the house & gardens. I would highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful well-appointed house in a wonderful location.Very comfortable and full of character
Awesome place to stay! Would return. Great location. Cosy and clean. Lots of space to enjoy with the family and beautiful views from the windows.
What a beautiful cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The views from a windows were amazing and the weather for the two weeks we were there was perfect, sunny but breezy which kept the pesky midges away! Shame the bed in the main bedroom isn't a king-size but apart from that everything is perfect.
Very relaxing place and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to Portree and a great location to explore the island from . Facilities great - didn’t even have time to use the sauna !
Location was perfect with amazing views over the sea. Cottage was comfortable and cosy with plenty of space for everyone. Would benefit from more mirrors in the bedrooms and the grass being tidied up a bit but overall a stunning house in a stunning location. Would definitely go back.
A very bright and airy cottage with beautiful views. Huge private garden and easy access for vehicles. Inside, the cottage is very comfortable and spacious, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice. Clean and modern with high quality furniture and accessories. This part of the Island isn't as busy with tourists so the peace and quiet is welcome yet, it's an easy drive to most of the northern parts parts of Skye as well as Portree itself (if you really must go there!).
No hesitation in booking Tarradale cottage again and look forward to returning soon. Would definitely recommend.
We spent an amazing week at Tigh Anndra. The cottage was beautifully kept, spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed, including plentiful wood for the wood burning stove! The cottage is in a great location with amazing views of the mountains. It is in an ideal spot to do the numerous beautiful walks on the Trotternish peninsula. The weather was fantastic, so we spent many evenings sitting outside watching the mountains change colour in the sunset. Angus the owner was very friendly and helpful. I am sure we will return!
Really enjoyed our stay. The information prior to the stay was excellent. The house was well presented, well kitted out and the location very peaceful. Close to Dunvegan for shops etc and lots of other beautiful spots.
The cottage was sparklingly clean and surprisingly spacious. Exceedingly well equipped kitchen including dishwasher. Magic!! Comfortable sofa and very comfortable king-sized bed. The ensuite bathroom is small but did the job. WiFi and other technology worked well and included a rack of interesting music CDs. Brian Eno or The Peatbog Faeries anyone? Initially concerned the The Old Byre was a bit isolated but this was never a problem. It's strategically placed on the west coast roughly midway between the Cuillines and the northern peninsulas and the B road across to Portree is good fun and has a...more
This cottage is in a quiet setting with beautiful views yet only a few miles from main town of Portree. The cottage is spacious with the exception of the shower room, which could do with some shelving. That apart we were really comfortable there. The wifi connection was good although internet connection was patchy whilst driving around Skye. The cottage had a tv and DVD player, which kept the children happy. We would certainly use this cottage again
This property in an excellent location - well placed for discovering the area. It is very well equipped and the hosts are very friendly.
On virtually all counts we found the accommodation very much to our liking. Nothing to add to the grades given above which reflect this. Comfort would have got 5 instead of 4 if a) there had been a bedside table both sides of the bed and b) more of a hard standing in the driveway for the approach to the parking bay - the car skidded a few times on the steep, loose hardcore. Minor points, but thought just worth mentioning. Certainly would not prevent us from returning. Thanks Kevin
The cottage was easy to find with very nice interior good beds and bedding looked as if new. There is a good walk starting just outside the cottage and easy parking. Would recommend it to anyone.
Lovely cosy warm cottage with safe enclosed garden. Fantastic views - good local shop and places to eat. Great base for exploring the northern areas of Skye.
Excellent hoasts: had a lovely stay at Glamaig cottage, and would recommend it as Portree is a great place to visit.
Location of accommodation very close to beach, lovely walks. Views from cottage fabulous, clean and tidy cottage. The owner of the cottage available and in contact via email and phone . The area quiet and peaceful, a very relaxing holiday would recommend to family and friends.
Very nice self catering accommodation. Silent, though in near of the main street. Great view out of the sitting room windows! Near to the center, where all the bars are ;-) The lock of one toilet doors was broken, but this was not a show stopper. Eventually my wife could escape ;-)
Great location, quiet with great views but near enough to facilities. Very comfortable beds and all en suite. Only criticism would be lack of some kitchen equipment. e.g. no colander, more crockery so dishwasher didn’t have to be used so frequently.
We loved our 3rd visit to the Isle of Skye, Quiraing cottage is a great base, we enjoyed fishing off Staffin harbour, the beautiful sunrise and lots of exploring, the cottage itself is very homely and comfortable, a big thank you to our host's who were very welcoming.
We had a wonderful time staying at Glen Osdale - great home and location, perfect place to stay to see all that Skye has to offer! Hope to be able to come back and stay again soon.
Cottage is in the most amazing location, views across the Quairaing are incredible, and close to the dinosaur beach so ideal for children. We were lucky with the weather so enjoyed beautiful sunsets from the small private terrace. The kitchen is small but plenty of equipment for cooking, just difficult to sit 4 people at the table. A great find for our week on Skye
The cottage is tired and in need of refurbishment. The furniture is old and shabby. The open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room is small for 6 to 8 people. We were 3 adults and 3 children and found it very limited for living space.
Large Windows allowed every time a beautiful View to the Ocean and the islands. The Skyskins and the the Cafe nearby is a must see. The old school house in Dunvegan is a perfect Place for Lunch and Dinner
We very much enjoyed our 4-night stay. The view over the loch is outstanding. Its convenient for Dunvegan castle and Dunvegan hotel's restaurant if you want to eat out. The main problem was the bed, which is too small, with bars at the foot. King size, divan style should be mandatory in any rental property.
'Wow. This is great!' This was the reaction when we arrived after a long journey. The owners have thought of everything that you may want or need. There is even wifi for those wanting to stay in contact with the outside world. The cottage is super well equipped with modern fittings and the views over the bay are stunning. Just remember a Skye mile is a long mile and a pint of milk is at least fifteen minutes drive away. Enjoy - we certainly did.
We enjoyed our week in Skye very much, helped by the, mainly, wonderful weather. 8 Kildonan is in a great spot, elevated and commanding an excellent view of Loch Greshornish. It is well situated for getting around the north of Skye with Portree 15 mins away. The staff at the Islands and Highlands office were always really helpful. The house itself was fine, it had everything we needed. We spent most of our time, when indoors, in the sunroom overlooking the loch. That room had the view and, crucially, sunlight. The other rooms tended to be dull. The main sitting room in particular was very da...more
Pros: Amazing Location Conservatory looking out to the Loch Fantastic storage in the kitchen and bedrooms Comfortable beds and seating Cons The inventory is pure fiction with regard to crockery, cutlery and glasses- eg only 7 mugs not 13, 4 knives not 8 etc etc Housekeeping needs to be significantly improved we are not houseproud but needed to clean kitchen surfaces, microwave, hob etc. The cooker needs a professional clean. We couldn't get the grill to work There was rubbish from previous guests eg on July 4th I disposed of potatoes with a best before date of 9th June Small secon...more
The flat is a well proportioned self-catering option for travellers to Skye. The assigned parking was very much an asset for the property given the lack of parking in Portree in general. The kitchen is decently equipped for making basic meals like breakfast/fry up, and for heating up ready meals from the local coop. Not sure whether it's a Covid restriction or not, but the staples for the kitchen were not present (i.e. no tin foil, no salt, pepper, oil, etc.) The main problem we had was with the hot water. There were two days with cold showers, and when the hot water was on, it was dangerously...more
Very clean and tidy cottage. Most things have been thought of to make your stay great. The welcome pack of essentials was wonderful after a 7 hour hold up prevented us from getting any shopping and we arrived at 1.30 am. Fabulous views across the bay.
Great flat in a very central location. It had everything you would need and very spacious. We had a lovely time there and would recommend.
This is a very comfortable, well furnished cottage in a great location, 5 minutes walk from the centre of Portree. We were pleased to find the rooms were a lot lighter than they appear in the pictures, and you can see the end of the Loch from the master bedroom. The kitchen has everything you would need (including a washer and tumble drier which was very useful), and the owners kindly left a little box of cakes as a welcome gift which was a nice touch! Bedrooms are cosy and there is plenty of hanging and storage space. We loved Skye and would be very happy to stay here again.
Tigh na Dalach is a lovely holiday cottage which has everything you need to take advantage of the superb location right by the shore and the wider area.
I booked this cottage almost last-minute for a stay on the Isle of Skye, about a week before I set off, and have no regrets about it. I was alone and so although the cottage is small (it has enough beds for five people, but I would personally recommend it for a party of two or three at most) it didn't feel cramped for me. It was clean and comfortable, with everything - bed linen, cutlery, soaps, bin liners etc. - supplied except for food and towels. The remote location is nevertheless well-suited for exploring the island, being only a short and scenic drive away from the main road through Broa...more
We had a fantastic week at this cottage, the space was perfect for us, plenty of room for us to enjoy our Christmas break with our dogs :) the garden is great, nice and large and the dogs spent plenty of time running around whatever the weather. The cottage was lovely and warm, had all sorts of kitchen accessories but our favourite spot was curled up in front of the large windows with a cuppa watching the weather. The views are magnificent. We felt completely at home and were very sad to leave! We can't wait to book again:)
Our stay at the Loch Mealt View was just amazing. The location was simply amazing. It was so serene and calm. The morning view from the cottage is something to behold. The cottage was spotless and the comfort level was unparalleled. Loved the beds as they were so comfy. As far as the cottage owners are concerned, I have to give them a special mention here as they have been amazing hosts. We reported a couple of minor issues one with a WiFi, a duvet cover that had a rip and a broken plate - the agents who look after the property reported it to the cottage owner and within an hour I got an email...more
We were very lucky with the week as the weather was glorious but the location was equally beautiful. Nestled on the shores of the Loch it just feels idyllic. The house was lovely, it was clean and functional with a view to die for. We had breakfast and tea out on the decking and it felt that we could have been abroad. Would definitely recommend.
historical and querky. The garden provided a wonderful view across the loch and a short walk away was the pretty harbour of Elgol. A great base for exploring magical Skye.
Beautiful, cosy house and fabulous location. Great for quiet and peaceful getaways. Definitely returning!
Lovely cottage and great location. Walk to beach so close and seals and bird life fab. Great to have Portree near
I have stayed many times at the Stationmaster's House but this is the first privately. Good accommodation and location.
The cottage was clean and tidy with all relevant equipment. We have stayed in this cottage before, some years ago and I think we forgot how small it is however for the short period we were there, it was fine. The one great pity is that the best views are from the landing skylight and the VERY cool porch area. Not a thing that can be easily remedied in such an old property. Kind note from housekeeper warning of midges but we were never bothered this visit.
Loved the cottage and location. So quiet but when we did meet anyone they were so friendly. Found the customer service brilliant. Cottage well stocked and everything you could. Lovely touch with bread, milk and butter being left for our arrival. Only two negative bits - the mattress in the double room downstairs was little uncomfortable and we had pinch pillows from another bed ( personal choice I appreciate) which was ok but would have been difficult if there was more people
We had a wonderful fortnight’s stay at the cottage. It is traditional and charming with character and lovely thoughtful touches. At the same time the kitchen was well equipped to cater for 6 of us. We especially enjoyed the room off the kitchen with the big table for games and cards and good food together. We loved that we could see the cottage high on the hill as we approached . Upper Edinbane has many working crofts , the people there were very friendly and it was interesting to see the animals. We enjoyed the books in the house especially those about Skye and the local area. We treated ou...more
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
We really enjoyed our time in Skye with Bridge Cottage as our base. The location is perfect for exploring as it is very close to the main road but set just far back enough that you have nice views over farmland and very little road noise. The wood burner was lovely for cosy evenings, and the kitchen was modern and well-stocked with cooking equipment. The only slight downside was the standard of cleaning - there was a fair amount of dog hair in the upstairs carpets from a previous occupant, and some of the kitchen dishwear needed washed before use (although that reflects more on previous guests...more

A traditional cottage with lovely views to the Outer Hebrides in a very peaceful location. Other cottages are dotted around but it is not a village. Make sure you bring all the food etc you need as there is no shop within walking distance. It is very quiet and we hardly saw anyone. The 2 bedrooms are large, bright and have wonderful views: bedrooms are comfortable with plenty storage space. There is a king size bed in one room; the other room has a double bed and also a single bed. Good for a family. One bathroom which was very clean. Kitchen and living / dining area area is one open pla...more
Spent a week at 10 Torrin during the best week of weather we could have asked for. Cottage set in some truly stunning scenery but with the added convenience of Broadford just 15 minutes drive away. Cottage was warm and comfortable with everything we needed - couldn't have asked for more. We loved it so much we are already trying to find a date to return!
