Above and beyond our expectations. Very well equipped, luxury cottage. Fantastic views, totally recommend
It’s a wonderful cosy and quiet cottage. The surrounding is very peaceful. Easy to find based on the direction given to us post booking. The location is also apt to visit places in and around Skye. Cottage has a well equipped kitchen as well. Ample parking space.
Loved our stay at Ben Edra it was perfect for exploring mid and north Skye. The views were stunning.
The house was beautiful and had everything a family needs- from toys and box games to all kitchen and laundry utensils. The location was perfect- just minutes from Fairy Glen,20 minutes from Portree and a great point for trips all across the island. Will definitely come back and will definitely recommend for others!
Stunning property in a stunning location. Spotlessly clean, cosy, really comfortable, brilliantly well-equipped...we've stayed in a lot of self-catering properties and this rates among the best. All this plus a stunning location: Ord is beautiful and so quiet. Fabulous views of the Cuillin and the wildlife was incredible - spent a lovely half hour watching a pair of sea eagles from the cottage, plus saw golden eagles and an otter. Fabulous walking - a perfect week away. Can't recommend MacKinnon highly enough - thank you!
Superb location - views to die for, especially if you are into bird / animal / coastal photography. Somewhat isolated yes- but true tranquillity is only obtained at a price ! Great local walking from the door. Perhaps a location to avoid if you want to allow your dog to run off lead locally- as could cause issues with surrounding livestock tho' property is fully fenced. Consideration should also be given to parts of the approach track , as some serious potholes could lead to issues on some cars particularly those with low suspension ! All of the various guide book photo's & descriptions w...more
We had a wonderful stay at Blue Sea Cottage! The view from the home is amazing and the sun room is the perfect place to enjoy it. The bedrooms are comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom is large and the bathtub was such a luxury. The kitchen space and cooking supplies were perfect for us to cook meals every day. We are already eager for a return trip to Skye!
We had just a lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The cottage is so very comfortable and has everything you could ever need while away from home. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore the best Skye has to offer. We would love to come back to this spot and we really didn't want to leave. It's a very special place.
Allderburn House was in the perfect location, less than 5 min walk into the centre of Portree. A very well equipped and comfortable house. A perfect base for exploring Skye. Highly recommend.
very enjoyable week in duirnish, scenery spectacular and duirnish lodge and gardens a very nice place to stay
Tidal Cottage is in a fantastic location with views of the Red Cuillins, Scalpay and Loch Carron from the front windows and garden. The only sounds at night were the distant cries of the birds on the estuary, lulling us to sleep. The cottage is well positioned for access to all parts of South Skye and beyond. The local village of Broadford is only about 5 minutes drive for shops and Restaurants. The Cottage is immaculately decorated, furnished and equipped with everything you would need in holiday accommodation.
We had the best holiday in this cottage on skye. We had everything we needed and the host was so kind with the all of the skye gifts. Thankyou
Lovely house, plenty room, remote and peaceful location, beautiful scenery, great walks, quiet roads for biking.. would definitely recommend for a totally relaxing holiday.
We happened upon this cottage by chance; we were originally only looking for a room with ensuite (but the island was fully booked) and we would absolutely stay here again. The cottage is gorgeous. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need (except perishables, so do shop before you go); the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable; the view is unforgettable. The road to get to the cottage is Skye at its best: passing places; sharp turns; cattle grid. The long route will take you past all of the island highlights and gorgeous walks, and you take a stroll down to the sea from...more
Awesome! The Library isa place to go back to. All you can expect from a compassionate owner. Everything we need has been thought of. Thank you so very much. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you for the coffee and the goodies too.
A wonderful property with amazing views. The cottages was furnished to a very high standard with everything a family could wish for. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed at. Very comfortable and cosy yet spacious. We highly recommend Ard Na Mara and will stay stay there again.
The Croft House is a superb base for exploring the island of Skye. It is extremely comfortable and well equipped, with everything you could possibly need for a holiday stay. Particularly welcome for walkers is the drying room; and the sun room, with its views over Loch Harport and Macleod’s tables is just delightful, and somewhere to watch the constantly changing weather. There is also a large, sunny garden. The owners are very helpful and hospitable. We would thoroughly recommend it.
We have a lovely stay at Almondbank Apartment. The guests are very nice. We enjoy the house location: you can access really easily all the skye island location. We recommand to book here.
We have visited Skye before. It is a well worn path, but have not enjoyed our stay so much as at Taob na Mara. The view is stunning, the accommodation clean, comfortable and stylish, with lots of small and well considered touches. What a great place to unwind. We will be back as soon as possible. John & Eimear
Fantastic cottage. We had 6 guys in here for a week doing some mountaineering up on the Cuillin Hills. It is a really nice place, we are repeat customers from the year previous. 1 - The shower is weak, not what you want after a day on the hill. 2 - I would like a number so that I could inform the owners that I was leaving a day early, this would doubtless help them and make me feel happier about leaving the key in the agreed place but hardly secure. That is all I can think to drip about, we will book in next year.
very enjoyable stay if you want remote this is the place to go to. the two feral cats are always looking for food so you get a big welcome when you return after a day out.
A clean, warm and comfortable property in a quiet but accessible location. It was lovely to watch the local wildlife and the views from the large picture windows, especially the baby rabbits playing in the garden. Set back from the main road between Portree and Uig, it was easy to drive around North Skye and further afield, if you wished. The nearest shops were in Portree, where there is a couple of Co-op supermarkets, as well as local food shops. The complimentary biscuits from the Skye Bakery were especially nice! The kitchen was well equipped and had all the essential facilities for a self...more
The great cottage in a great place! All was clean, did not found shampoo and shower gel, its better to have your own.
We have booked this cottage again next year, we loved it so much. Great location with a stunning view. Being able to sit by the loch at the end of the garden with a glass of wine and watch seabirds and the clouds coming up over the mountains was just perfect. Our water obsessed dogs loved it and the big enclosed garden. Felt very relaxed here which i feel makes a holiday....cosy and welcoming.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Glamaig Cottage. We were due to arrive a bit early, but emailed Highland and Islands Cottages the evening prior and got a response first thing in the morning to let us know we could check in early. The cottage was a short walk (note: it's a steep hill if your mobility is challenged) from the bus stop in Portree. Linda was there to greet us and show us the cottage on their property. She and Mike were very kind and had left us a bottle of wine and a fridge stocked with essentials for breakfast (bacon, eggs, milk, jams, bread...) so that we wouldn't ...more
The Steading is a beautiful house in a glorious location. There are wonderful views from the windows and the sea is a few steps from the front door. Seals and birds can be seen from the windows and McCleods Tables are looking down on you. The house is well equipped, very comfortable and lovely and warm (it was so warm we didn't light the log burner once!). The house is a short drive from Dunvegan which has a little shop, fruit and veg shop, a bakery with fantastic sausage rolls, a petrol station and several cafes and eateries. So you can feel away from it all but with plenty of amenities nearb...more
A fantastic place with excellent views. A very comfortable, welcoming cottage with everything you need for a great holiday.
A very bright and airy cottage with beautiful views. Huge private garden and easy access for vehicles. Inside, the cottage is very comfortable and spacious, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice. Clean and modern with high quality furniture and accessories. This part of the Island isn't as busy with tourists so the peace and quiet is welcome yet, it's an easy drive to most of the northern parts parts of Skye as well as Portree itself (if you really must go there!).
The cottage was lovely and you could never tire of the view from the dining and living room windows.
The house is very well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Especially for a property where you can take your dog it was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would go again.
This was a perfect location for our stay while visiting the Isle of Skye. So peaceful and enjoyable. The scenery absolutely beautiful. A lot of opportunities for hiking through the highlands. Beautiful pics.
We had a very nice stay in Sorley's house and regretted not to have more time to stay. The view from the house is beautiful, the house has an excellent location for exploring especially the north of Skye (i.e. Old Man of Storr, Quiraing) and even on rainy days we liked the stay in the comfortable house. We will definitely stay in this house when we return to Skye again.
Great cottage, beautiful and confortable! Everything has been really OK. Just one word to describe that: Amazing!
I booked the whole house for my family to join us for our wedding in Scotland. Both the housekeeper and the owner were both very helpful and good and communicating. Our stay was very enjoyable and the location is just lovely. We actually ended up moving our wedding location to the slip owned by the house and it could not have been more idyllic. The area is lovely and peaceful and a very short distance to the bridge over to Skye.
Nice quiet property in owner's back garden though we never actually met. Very well equipped and comfortable with wood burning stove (firewood supplied) and underfloor heating. Great shower too. Nice view through the shrubs at end of garden to the Loch and hills. Plenty of parking. About 20 minute's walk from centre of Portree, it's a really good base from which to drive to all points on the island and enjoy the walks and majestic scenery. Plenty of good places to eat in Portree but kitchen also v well equipped for cooking at home. If you like fish there is a fantastic but slightly hard to find...more
We had a lovely stay in this cottage. The street was really quiet and neighbours very friendly and helpful. Their is a train line that runs nearby but we only heard 1 train go by in our visit over 4 days so did not cause a problem. The cottage is older but has a brand new kitchen and furniture inside, so feels homely, warm and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Bed was a little hard, but we slept happily enough after all the hiking. Check in was very easy and flexible. The house is just 15 mins from Skye, so was a good jumping off point to explore Skye, Plockton and Applecross.
The view from the lounge window was stunning you would never get tired of looking the house was well equipped with lots of books dvds and games to keep you occupied we had a very relaxing week
Lovely cosy warm cottage with safe enclosed garden. Fantastic views - good local shop and places to eat. Great base for exploring the northern areas of Skye.
This cottage is just perfect - tastefully decorated and furnished and in an ideal coastal location with an inn and a restaurant only a couple of doors away on either side.If we ever move to Skye this is the sort of cottage we would want to buy - I can't praise it any more highly than that!
This is a very nice little cottage, clean and tidy and well equipped, the hosts offered a very warm welcome and took the time to show us around and offer advice on places to to visit. The only small thing is that we like to have a cup of tea in bed in the mornings but the position of the bed under the sloping roof didn't allow us to sit up and do this,
We enjoyed out stay at Alan's House very much. It is very comfortable, well equipped, and exactly as described. We appreciated the fact that you rented for 4 days - most places require a week's stay. We used the clothes washer and would have appreciated a dryer. During our 4 day stay we had no contact with anyone - not the rental agency or any caretakers. Nor did we have any need to talk to anyone. Directions were easy to follow.
Tigh Anndra is a cosy, well equipped cottage in a stunning location in the North of the Isle of Skye. It contained everything we needed for our stay including some bits and pieces that we had forgotten such as foil and olive oil. We mostly didn't need any heating but, when we did, the towel rails in the bathroom provided enough warmth for the whole cottage. In saying that, the owner Angus had provided enough chopped wood for the wood burning stove to see us through the week if it had been cold. If there had been any problems, Angus only lives a short distance away and made a point of calling i...more
Very nice self catering accommodation. Silent, though in near of the main street. Great view out of the sitting room windows! Near to the center, where all the bars are ;-) The lock of one toilet doors was broken, but this was not a show stopper. Eventually my wife could escape ;-)
Great location, 5 minutes walk to town. Easy free parking for one car. Large property with comfy lounge area. Everything you need for a home from home stay. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 mins walk.
The views from Tystie were mesmerising. It was a beautiful cottage that we felt very at home in. We would highly recommend a stay here.
Good standard, amenities and location. Very well equipped and comfortable for my mother. Many thanks!
We found everything here perfectly adequate and loved the upstairs dorm-type layout. It was very convenient to have bathrooms at both ends, and a toilet downstairs in the utility room. While the wc with bath has a shower hose, it's not possible to stand up and have a shower in it due to the sloping ceiling. Note that there are no direct sea views except from some bedroom / bathroom windows, and a large house (Quirang Lodge) is directly between the cottage and the sea. While you can get down to the rocky shore, it's a scramble, and not quite clear whether access is permitted - the slope through...more
The location is a bit far from town, but is acceptable. The house is clean, comfort with nice view. However, the network is too weak.
Laimhrig on the Shore is warm, clean and very well equipped cottage. Super comfy beds, with a great power shower. The gorgeous views from the conservatory were ideal way to enjoy the evenings after a long day of exploring. We Saw an otter, white tailed sea eagle, herons and many other birds. All in all, a great base from which to explore the wonderful island of Skye. We would definitely be happy to return to this cottage in the future.
Stayed with my daughter, we found cottage very welcoming and comfortable with all essential facilities. Good situation close to Portree and particularly for exploring north Skye. Good fun on occasions fun shepherding cattle to get access to the exit gate. Recommended.
A lovely and well-appointed modern cottage on the west side of Skye. Plenty spacious enough for the two of us.. The kitchen was clean and tidy with a welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived. A very useful handbook supplied on living in the house, where things were locally and further afield. A warm and cosy place to come back to after a day of being blown around on Skye through sunshine and showers and should you need a boost of heat, the wood burner in the living room works really well!
Two floors, washer/dryer combo mid-vacation (Yay!), Co-op and restaurants within walking distance, central to the island, WiFi for the kids, Netflix on TV, bed and shower large enough for my 6'4"/194cm, ... What's not to like?! The whole trash separation business is rather involved for us from abroad. At home we use the green bins for recyclables, which to us makes more sense, and that just adds to the confusion. As a consequence we completely forgot to take out the regular trash when we left. Sorry!
Having family on Skye, my niece’s wedding meant finding somewhere to stay that was comfortable and big enough for us to get together for a few days. The house was perfect, beautiful surroundings and everything we needed for our break.will return !
Lovely house well equipped, warm and cosy. Only minus was the very poor tv system which required fiddling with daily
This house was our perfect basecamp for our three night stay on the Isle of Skye. Located far away from any tourist routes in the south west near the highest mountains of the island it let us feel like we are somewhere in the east of Iceland. The house was very well equipped and we felt comfortable without internet and mobile phone connections. Only the fact that the floor and some dishes weren‘t that clean made a first bad impression to us. Nevertheless this house is a good recommendation for everyone seeking calm.
Despite the worst of weather the week we stayed in Skye we had a lovely time. The furnishings were rustic and cosy and fitted the setting. The wood burning stoves were great and we lit the living room/kitchen one every evening. We lit the one in the bedroom only 1 evening. The flat was sound proof and with extra thick walls we were not going to be disturbed or cold. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The wifi was good in an evening but a bit hit and miss during the day. There was enough to check emails but no netflix viewing :-).There was one day when we looked...more
Wonderful cottage in an idyllic location. Quiet location off the beaten track but only a very short walk to the main part of Plockton and the shops, pubs and restaurants. Particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden by the loch in the evening sun.
This is a lovely cottage with a great location for the south of the island and not to mention getting back to the mainland for the likes of Plockton and Applecross (via the "pass" is amazing!!). It's very compact internally but most of the time is out and about. The thing that let this cottage down for us was the cleanliness, especially in the likes of the kitchen. Granted 5 star luxury and cleanliness isn't expected but neither is having to almost spring clean the kitchen before using it or the items within. Shame really.
A stunning location and lovely cottage. However in kitchen some pans put away dirty. Coffee machine had been left with used coffee grounds and filter which had gone mouldy. Shower cubicle door very difficult to open fully and came away from end fixings. Position near to toilet made access and exit difficult. Both toilet roll holders broken! Would recommend if issues sorted.
The stay was ok but the cottage smelt a little damp. There is nothing more to say Qqqqqqqqqwwqwqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq . ........
House has a nice location (seaside) and a good terras. Condition of the house is fine but it lacks a coffeemaker. The kitchen is a bit small to sit with 4 people. Minor ‘problems’.
Nice cottage, but needs attention with the cleaning and there were 3 bad water leeks on the landing and in the fireplace. Bathroom ceiling paint kept on falling away in little white pieces. We found a big black mark on one of the kitchen cupboard doors. Many cobwebs and spider webs were not cleaned away and quite a few spiders in various rooms. I'm not saying the cottage is all bad, we loved it, but the cleaning before new customers arrive. It needs to be a whole lot better. Basically, attention to detail. Still a great cottage and great location.
Very comfortable, appreciated the upmarket shower and bath gell, and suprisingly quiet, given its central location.
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
Solid fuel heating is not suitable for a short break It takes time to fill the stove and the fire.A simpler form of heating would have been better.
We were very pleased with the accommodation and the fittings. The cottage is easy to manage and convenient for a pleasant shore and for a short drive in to Portree. It is a place of great calm. It would be nice for the outside "garden" to mirror the standard of the inside of the house but you can't have everything! We will book again.
Set up on the hill overlooking Edinbane sits a cottage you can relax and recharge in. Temp gate bad!
This cottage is in a very desolate condition, in each room! And on top dark bed-clothing and towels to cover.
LOCATION: The cottage is quite removed and isolated from any nearby city and tourists. However, it is near to the Skye Skins sheep-wool production shop, Skye's oldest pub The Stein Inn, and Diver's Eye boat tours - all of which are lovely and recommended. The drive to the cottage from the main road is single-track and took us about ten minutes to get through any time we wanted to go anywhere. This was alright for us, as we appreciated the benefit of being removed from main traffic more than we were put off by how long it took to get anywhere. The drive to Portree is about 50 minutes (don't let...more
Cottage was good but I have the following 'constructive' comments: Fridge not cleaned properly - there was a feather(!) in one of the compartments. Extractor does not work in downstairs shower room. Various bathroom fittings - toilet roll holders not fully secured to wall. No wall razor socket (unsure if this was stated in cottage notes) Overall, not quite worth the money paid - given the above feedback. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Nigel Downes
Sat on the hillside looking up the loch back to Stein and Waternish, you really don't need to switch the tv on or connect to the wifi to check your phone. Beautiful big house with the most gorgeous lounge and views to die for. I was met on by my lovely host Lynette on my first night who welcomed me into the house and nothing would be too much trouble for her.
A very old home but impeccably clean. PRO’s:- great location, waterfront. -very quiet nights sleep, excellent quality bedding, very comfortable. -lots of interesting books to flip through. -Ideal location for walking trails. -satellite TV with some basic channels. -huge DVD selection (though we couldn’t get the DVD player to work). CON’s: -we had a late October visit. Cottage was extremely cold and damp despite the multiple heaters. No wood fire. -internet out of service for the duration of our stay which we were not informed about ahead of time. This was frustrating for us as w...more
This is a lovely spot - the house is comfortable and good for small family. The Biar smelt a little damp, but was fine otherwise.
We have visited this cottage for many years and love it. If there is any negative, it is just that it now looks very tired especially outside, a reasonable bench or garden seat would be lovely. Islands and Highlands are great at dealing with any issues. Well done team. We would still visit this cottage as our favourite location.
The location is beautiful and the house is lovely. But the kitchen ground was not clean, neither the cutlery and the pans. In the kitchen was no hot water, so we had to boil water for the dishes. The shower did not work properly, the water was not constantly hot. The duvets, pillows and matras were dirty, the covers were clean.
