Willowbank House, Portree overlooks the bay with the town centre at one end and the Cuillins at the other. This traditional holiday home has three double bedrooms all ensuite. There is a large kitchen, dining room with a lounge. A second lounge with fantastic views. Willowbank House is just a 5 min walk to the town centre.

Nice place with a heating problem

We liked Willowbank. It's close to town, has incredible views out the front windows, it's own off street parking, and other than when the music festival was in town, it was super quiet. We would rent it again.

Having said that, we did experience some things we didn't care for.

Chief among those is the oil fired heater/boiler. Please replace this with an air source heat pump and water tank. The cottage was freezing when we arrived (5-10C). The limited timers for heat and hot water are annoying. Turn on shower, no hot water, trudge to kitchen to +1 the hot water, wait some more, etc etc. It's also smelly and shouldn't be inside the house. It's 2026. (Btw it took us forever to find the "+1 button" mentioned in the manual - it's hidden behind the glass passage door in the kitchen)

The bed in #1 is too small. It's a double and should be at least a queen.

The shower in #1 needs a shelf or somewhere to put up shower products. There is only a tiny soap dish.

My allergies were frequently going off after entering the home, so I think it's time to replace the carpets and a deep clean.

We are glad to hear you would stay again but are sorry to hear that some aspects weren't ideal for you. There are no restrictions on the use of heating or hot water, which can be changed and boosted using the controls in the house. However clearer guidance will be provided to guests in future.
