This luxury self-catering property has five en suite bedrooms, sleeping 10 people, each with its own design and character. It is light and airy with lots of space to spread out. From the glass fronted living room you step out onto your private patio area with large hot tub. With view of your spacious garden and views on the river. Cilan Farmhouse is perfect for a large family or a group of friends. All the bedrooms as standard are king-size doubles with the option of turning 3 of them into twins.

After many visits to Rivercatcher we decided this time to have a family break and stay in Cilan House. What a wonderful few days it was, everybody had such an enjoyable time that we have already decided to book for next year. Even the dogs thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of the secure garden . A great highlight, especially for the teenagers, was the hot tub. The games room also was a hit.
The atmosphere was very festive with all the outside Christmas lights and the indoor Christmas trees and decorations.

As a party of 8 people, we stayed in the farmhouse for 7 lovely nights. This property has a fab location and setting, with a beautiful rural view from the back--the perfect place to relax in the hot tub! Amazing, spacious & stylish house that is perfect for a group of friends or family. All credit to Aled, George and the other staff who keep the grounds in tip-top order. Everything is spotless and beautifully presented. So much to do that we just didn't have time for -- we definitely want to stay again, and would recommend Rivercatcher without hesitation to anyone. Thank you, Andy & team for a really special holiday.

Our second visit to Rivercatcher was every bit as good as the first. Everything about this holiday destination is first class. The location is perfect. It is quiet, secluded and set in magnificent countryside.
Great care has been taken to provide for all the guests’ needs. Standards of cleanliness are exceptional. It is the ideal to rest, relax and enjoy nature at its best.

First of all should point out the location is really in the middle of nowhere. Everywhere is a drive and I doubt that there is much in the way of taxis or Ubers. That said they have an efficient food delivery service operating which means you may never really need to use a car if you didn't want to.
To the house : fantastic - has absolutely EVERYTHING you could need. Incredibly warm and cosy, very well-equipped. Loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom. So stylish. Loved the gift basket, loved the hot tub ready from the get-go. Really cannot fault it and I am a very demanding customer. Stayed in many places and this has to be right up there at the top.

We visit Cillian farmhouse every year and we just love it. Spotlessly clean and lovely furnishings its home from home. The views are stunning and we love our walks and coming back to relax in the hot tub. There are 5 couples and we all have our own good size bedroom with good size en-suite bathroom. The small village were we book for Sunday dinner is just a couple of minutes away by car and River catcher owner Andy can not do enough for you. Highly recommend you will not b disappointed

We’ve been to enough cottages to know a good one when we walk into it and this was perhaps the best in terms
of sheer quality of build and the high standard of all rooms and equipment. You could tell the design had been properly thought through throughout the building and booking and customer also excellent. That’s before the beautiful location by the River Dee.

We stayed in Cilan Farmhouse as part of our 40th Wedding Anniversary Celebrations where we were joined by our three children, their partners and other family members. We arrived traumatised on one of the wettest days I can remember, having negotiated extensive flooding on-route as well as a puncture in the Berwyn Mountains. However, there followed a wonderful week in superb accommodation in the beautiful Dee valley with exceptionally good weather for the time of year.. The layout of the farmhouse is excellent for a large party with large rooms throughout and all ensuite bedrooms. The decor is of high quality and the Farmhouse very well equipped. Everyone loved their time in Llandrillo and many great memories were created.
The staff at Rivercatcher were excellent and helpful throughout our stay. I fully recommend Rivercatcher and would happily return to explore even more of this unspoilt part of the Welsh countryside.

We have never had a better family holiday. This property, location and service made it possible.
The farmhouse gave us all the option to have both family time together as well as time out.
The facilities in the house were excellent, with everything you need (almost home from home without clutter). Very well thought out in terms of what people staying may need.
The welcome basket of local produce was appreciated and enjoyed.
The garden was spacious, safe, dog friendly and relaxing, with sun beds to enjoy, and the access down to the river Dee meant we had the opportunity to walk the pups if we didn’t want to leave home.
Outside, family dining was charming and we did make use of the BBQ, and the hot tub an absolute winner for all.
Rivercatcher staff were on hand if needed, (maintaining this fabulous holiday location to beautiful standard) and any issues that arose were dealt with swiftly, nothing was too much trouble.
Having a laundry on hand was extremely useful and well used.
Of course the opportunity to explore the local area ( so much to do and see ) as well as the weather being amazing all helped to make our holiday the best ever.
However this is our 5th visit with our return stay about to be booked for next year, where we will once again try a different cottage (we are working our way through them all, depending on how many of us there are )
This simply offers anyone reading this review the safe knowledge that Andy and the team cannot be beaten for family friendly luxury holidaying.

Stayed in the farmhouse for a week. The location is isolated which makes it difficult to get anywhere without driving but very peaceful and picturesque. Being so close to the river is good for fishing and walks but causes a lot of problems with flying insects. The accommodation is well appointed and fittings finished to a high standard. The sofas were a bit low for some of us and uncomfortable. Most of us thought the beds were very comfy. There could be more facilities on site, although there was table tennis and table football. It was great to see some new EV charging points in the car park and I sure these will be popular once they are working properly, otherwise the nearest charging station is a short drive to the farm shop.

We stayed in the Cilan farmhouse for 4 nights for my husbands 60th. What can can I say this place is a little piece of heaven! The views were just amazing ! I wanted something special this exceeded my expectations. The cottage has everything you need! All bedrooms with en suite too!! So full of character just stunning! The garden at Cilan Farmhouse was well fenced in and our dog enjoyed his freedom with plenty of shade from the trees. We enjoyed strolls by the river and we humans made good use of the well-padded sunbeds and relaxing hot tub. The glazed summer house in the grounds was a lovely sheltered place to sit.

We watched the dippers and ducklings on the river, were treated to acrobatic displays by the swifts and house martins, and entertained by the pied wagtails and nesting sparrows. In the river we spotted large and small fish and there were many banded damselflies. We caught sight of red kites and most evenings saw the local tawny owl and many bats.

We were really pleased that all of the beds were extremely comfortable. Stairgates were provided to keep the dog downstairs, but they were not wide enough so consequently tricky to install (we used books between discs and wall). It was nice to know beforehand exactly what food and household items were provided – the games and books were also appreciated. We saw Aled and/or George most days and they were very friendly and helpful.

A couple of things that could be improved – the bathrooms at the front of the house had frosted window film instead of blinds/curtains and this meant it was extremely hot during the day and unnerving at night not knowing whether our outlines were visible from outside. A few of the other windows had moisture inside the double-glazed units which obscured the beautiful view.

We visited Rhug Farm Shop where we bought lots of local goodies and spotted the herd of bison in a nearby field. We spent a day at Llangollen where the dog enjoyed paddling in the river and we visited Plas Newydd with it’s lovely gardens and interesting house which was also displaying costumes from the BBC’s ‘Gentleman Jack’ series. Caerau Gardens and Café is also worth a trip – the views and gardens were stunning - excellent food and a brilliant play area.

We enjoyed our stay at Cilan Farmhouse very much and would happily return.

So so sad to leave River Catcher’s Cilan Farmhouse last Friday. A stunning location with views to die for, so so peaceful and beautifully maintained. Not a cheap place to stay but worth every penny. Owners and maintenance staff are friendly and efficient without being intrusive and always happy to help when needed. If you can tear yourself away from the house and grounds there are plenty of things to do, places to visit and lovely places to eat. The Rhug Farmshop a few miles down the road is a must to visit if you’re planning a barbi or if you fancy a delicious homemade ice cream.
The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning nestled on the banks of the River Dee with rolling countryside and the backdrop of the mountains. All these views can be enjoyed from the comfort of the hot tub! No light pollution so stargazing from the hot tub was a nightly occurrence.
This was our third stay at River catcher. We’re already planning our next stay and look forward to many more family get togethers in the future.

We stayed Easter week, a family of 9 from Grandparents to the latest addition who is just 10 weeks old . Cilan farmhouse is beautiful, well-kept, and peaceful. Everything is stylish and well thought out. The garden hot-tub is overlooking the beautiful countryside and by the river, we used it everyday.


Excellent accommodation, great location, and superb hosts. Faultless and highly recommended.

This was our second visit to River catcher but our first in Cilan farmhouse, both visits were amazing and we will definitely come again. The cottage is beautiful inside and out. We had 8 adults and two children and it never felt cramped, especially with every room having an ensuite. The only criticism I can give it, is that the kitchen could maybe do with an island or something as we did get in each others way abit in the mornings trying to make breakfast etc but that is being picky.
The grounds are lovely and the views from the hot tub are fantastic. It's great that you can fish in the river and the games room is a nice touch, especially if you have bad weather.
Aled was very helpful and the owners couldn't do enough for you.
There are some walks locally but we did end up driving to most places.

This is the third time I have visited Rivercatcher. I was so excited to come back and even more excited to stay in the largest cottage. As ever it exceeded my expectations and has bought us more memories of beautiful North wales. The games room was a real bonus as the 7 teenagers played in there lots!! Hot tub is also a huge bonus and the views are beautiful. The cottages are all amazing and I look forward to the next visit. Thank you Rivercatcher!!

An outstanding farmhouse set in beautiful landscape on a loop of the River Dee. Booking,pre arrival information, and welcome basket all first class. Home from home but in luxurious comfort. Absolutely stunning surroundings, the most gorgeous cottage, plenty big enough for 2 even 3 families.

I was very impressed with how nicely it’s all kept and how friendly and welcoming everybody was.

Superb large property for our family holiday. We were a party of 9 plus baby and a dog yet there was still enough room to find your own space. There is a large secure garden with river views and large games building close by equipped with football table and table tennis. There are 5 well appointed bedrooms, one downstairs. Recommended eateries The Cornmill and The Three Eagles in Llangollen. Also beautiful views a short drive to lake Vyrnwy via Llanygog. Accommodation highly recommended.

There was great ease with accessing all necessary information, to booking and then the great timely customer service in the form of emails (with links for food and activities). The local handyman on site was very welcoming and full of useful suggestions. The accommodations were easily accessible and appointed to a high standard without losing that cost feel. Very comfortable beds facilities. The location just by the River Dee was idyllic and yet it was very easy to travel to many parts of Wales for a variety of activities ranging from steam railways/walk/hikes/castles and adventure sports. We are planning a return trip as still so many things left to do and a wonderful base to do them from.

18 of us had a really fabulous time in 2 properties. The accommodation and setting was Idyllic. It suited all ages. Lost of space for us all to get together both inside and out. Lovely layout and Well equipped.

Before hand the hosts were really helpful, supporting our visit.

We visited attractions around the area so we situated to access these including the Zip wore and a Barge trip

The 4 for comfort instead of 5 was a bit picky but the Sofas were uncomfortable and towels a bit small not bath sheets
- but as I say picky
I would have no hesitation in recommending this destination

We had a lovely stay over 7 days with eight of us in Cilan Farmhouse with my daughter and family in Shepherd's Cottage just across the drive. With four dogs between us we enjoyed some lovely walks both by the river and in the Snowdonia National Park, and fortunately we were very lucky to enjoy beautiful weather. Mostly we cooked in and there was ample space for us to eat together, including a barbecue one day.
Andy and his team were very positive and supportive - this being a trip we had to move twice due to Covid restrictions - and helped us with a delivery on our arrival day of a bespoke package from their recommended Butchers/Farm Shop based in Corwen - highly recommended ... the meats in particular were just fantastic. We had a birthday to celebrate too, so booked the taster menu at Tyddyn Llan just a mile down the road. Everyone enjoyed the meal, including flexible alternative options for the young children in our party (ages 5 and 6). Altogether a lovely stay and all my family have come back to say how much they enjoyed it.

This was our fourth family visit to this beautiful place. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we could need. My husband caught quite a few grayling and small trout from the river at the bottom of the garden, the dogs enjoyed running around the garden, my grandson loved everything and I thought the new summer house overlooking the river was great. It was so peaceful sitting in there with a good book and a glass of wine! Highly recommended!

Our time at the rivercatcher was amazing, we had a lovely time celebrating my partner's 29th birthday with close family and friends. The amenities were lovely, everything was clean and tidy. They went above and beyond. When we asked for the hot tub to be filled they did it straight away and also when my friend left her ring there accidentally they posted it straight away! Will definitely be booking there again and would highly recommend.

We have started coming each year to stay in River Catcher Cilan Farmhouse. There are 5 couples and we each get our own spacious bedroom and bathroom. The house is immaculate and furnished to a high standard. Andy the owner is so helpful and his team are very friendly. We go on walks whilst there and go into other areas like Corwen and Bala. The local pub is so lovely and everyone is friendly. Take your bathing costume and enjoy the hot tub. The Kitchen has everything you need to make any meal. The house has an excellent central heating system ( we always go in Winter) it also has a lovely cosy log burner. We have already booked for next year

What can I say but "WoW". We have just experienced a week in the Rivercatcher Cillan Farmhouse and it was just wonderful. The Farmhouse is really well equipped, has some high quality fixtures and fittings and was spotless. The layout of the house is excellent and was ideal for our family gathering. The house has a lovely large garden very well attended by the groundsman Aled. It has a patio area equipped with table and chairs and a wonderful hot-tub which we made great use of. The river Dee runs at bottom of the garden and I understand has Salmon and Grayling which can be fished for in the fishing season.

The location of Rivercatcher is ideal for experiencing the many adrenalin activities on offer in North Wales and for some great hiking. Nearby you also have friendly pubs and two top class restaurants.

Andy and his team are very welcoming and lovely to chat with. They can be justly proud of the Rivercatcher complex. I must add that the Welcome pack was brilliant supplying a selection of local produce with a great description of each.

We have rented cottages all over the UK for many years and I can honestly say that the Cillan Farmhouse is now our No1 favourite.

Absolutely amazing stay! Both the house and grounds were immaculate and a real credit to Andy and his team. Lots of really nice little touches like the gorgeous box of treats on our arrival or the huge pile of logs to keep us warm by the logburner. This is our second visit to Cilan Farmhouse at Rivercatcher in LLandrillo . We have once again had a wonderful holiday in the peace and tranquillity of the Welsh countryside overlooking the River Dee. The accommodation was very clean and well maintained, and was perfect for our party of seven adults and one infant. We particularly like that all the bedrooms have their own ensuites and therefore provide equivalent facilities for all the guests. The grounds and the hot tubs are very well maintained by Aled and the rest of the staff and any enquiries or problems are quickly and efficiently resolved- we had a toaster that fused and received a replacement within minutes of reporting the issue ! We really enjoyed our stay at Rivercatcher and look forward to returning in the future. Thanks to everyone at Rivercatcher for a great holiday in lovely accommodation!

The property was clean, bright and very spacious. Plenty of room for the comfort of 10 guests. Lovely views of the river from the large enclosed garden. A very relaxing holiday taking advantage of the easy access to the river for kayaking. Everything that we could have needed was provided. The staff were friendly and helpful. Returned for our third visit to Rivercatcher. As before the House was spotlessly clean and in first class condition.
We had a very relaxing week, helped by some fanatstic weather.
We bought our paddle boards, and paddled on the river directly behind the house, went upstream for about a mile, felt like we were in a north american national park, even saw an otter. Our son loved being on the river.
Andy and Aled were very friendly and helpful.

Immaculately presented luxury spacious accommodation in a beautiful and quiet location. We were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the contents especially in the kitchen. We enjoyed our private garden which had stunning views across the river and the hot tub was a lovely relaxing daily treat after exploring the amazing places to visit nearby. Andy and the staff were very welcoming and helpful and often around to answer any questions or advice on places to visit. We had a delivery from Sainsbury’s which was valuable as only smaller shops nearby to top up and the local farm shop which was worth a visit. I can thoroughly recommend the Cilan farmhouse for an idyllic family getaway. We have already booked again as there is so much to see and visit but knowing that you return to accommodation which will enhance your stay.

Bedrooms had great facilities, all had huge super comfortable big beds and with en-suites, had the best night’s sleep each night. The kitchen was well equipped with appliances and cooking bits, there was even a fire place and instructions with how to use it. There was a big hot tub for the guests which was lovely to use each day.. the house had everything we needed!

Location:
We found it perfect location for what we needed it to be. The cottages are situated in valleys and have the most beautiful view from the garden. Then with regards to connections with other places, it’s a lovely scenic 10 minute walk to the village centre ‘Llandrillo’ where there’s a shop and a pub. There as well we loved the walks you can go on up the hills with gorgeous views of your surroundings. It was a 20 minute drive to Bala which is considered a must see of Snowdonia hot spots.

Cleanliness:
Very high standard of cleanliness to the cottage.

My only criticism to the entire place/experience, was that the sofas in the lounge seem a bit tatty and used, and we wasn’t overjoyed we had a list of chores to complete before leaving the cottage considering we had spent so much money to stay there.

But I would absolutely recommend anyone to consider staying here, it made our first visit to Wales that extra bit special and we loved our weekend away there!

The farmhouse easily accommodated our family group including two toddlers. It is beautifully appointed with everything you could wish for - including a hot tub! The welcome pack was a delightful touch.
The location is ideal for walks in Snowdonia as well as beautiful beaches which were perfect for the children - even though the sea is freezing!
This made an excellent substitute for our original holiday cancelled due to Covid-19 travel problems.

On arrival to RiverCatcher we were impressed with the beautiful courtyard area and wonderful properties.
We stayed at Cilan Farmhouse with our Grown up children and their partners. Lots of space. Open views. Hot tub. Excellent dining area both inside and out. Luxurious Bedrooms each with en-suites. Beautifully appointed house. Would have loved a radio in the kitchen! Central heating was noisy ( I am a very light sleeper ) I thought it was the hot tub but it went off at intervals all through the night. Seems mean to complain but it was disturbing. Our family of grandparents, parents and children all had a wonderful stay at Cilan.
The property is plenty big enough and well stocked with everything you could need. A real home from home, with the welcome basket a nice touch.
The grounds are beautifully maintained by Aled, who is a real local gem.
I did a bit of fishing, we saw buzzards, red kite, kingfishers and often just had a wander.
The nearby town of Llandrillo has a great pub where we were made to feel welcome, serving super food and local beers (Station was my favourite).
The property is lovely to just relax at but there’s also lots to do locally. We surfed at Snowdonia Surf, white water rafted the Dee with Mario at Get Wet (our first time and he made us all feel safe and enjoy the experience), did lots of walking and visited other local towns etc etc.
A week was not enough.
A great holiday with a bit of everything for everyone. A stunning house in a stunning spot.

We had a wonderful stay at Cilan Farmhouse, Rivercatcher. The weather was lovely and the spacious hot tub was much enjoyed by everyone !
The house is clean, roomy and very comfortably appointed and has a beautiful garden looking out over the River Dee . Unusually, all five of the bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom , which is very helpful when a party of adults is holidaying together and would all like the same standard of accommodation. The hot tub was maintained on a daily basis .The garden was secure for our dog. We visited local attractions including Snowdon, Portmeirion and the local Michelin starred restaurant- just down the road! A very pleasant and relaxing break for all.

On the strength of a very successful visit in March when a large group of us stayed in two other cottages at Rivercatcher (with 4 dogs between us!), I booked Cilan Farmhouse for a smaller family group for a long weekend in December.

Everyone was thrilled with the farmhouse. The lay out of the accommodation suited us perfectly.

We will certainly return

We rented Cilan Farmhouse and Gamekeepers Cottage as a party of 18 adults celebrating a 50th birthday with family and friends. We could not fault any aspect of the whole experience from initial booking to finish. The accommodation is superb and the location breath-taking even during a wet December weekend.
We could not more highly recommend Rivercatcher to others and would love to repeat our experience their again in the future.

This house has excellent accomodation which is ideal for group or family holiday. Each room is spacious and bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms. Stayed as a family group of 9 plus our dog. All 4 generations had a great time. Plenty of room for us and all ensuite bedrooms was appreciated. Safe, secure large garden enjoyed by the kids and our dog. Adults loved the hot tub and having two seperate living rooms meant the kids enjoyed their own tv and dvd. Every ammenity has been thought of. Very high standard of accomodation. Dog loved paddling in the river which was literally accessible from the back garden. Great place for a special break for all ages to enjoy.

We had 9 adults and 2 children under 2 years old and we found the accomodation spacious ,clean and the rooms were very well appointed .
The living areas, including kitchen were well equipped and as the weather was fantastic when we visited the outdoor areas were used most of the time.
We used outside caterers for a celebratory meal as this suited us with the children and this worked really well as the dining area was beautifully located in the farm house.
We all had a great time and we will certainly come back to this part of North Wales and explore further based from the luxury of Rivercatcher.

We're just back from a wonderful week with four generations of the family staying in Cilan Farmhouse. The accomodation was very comfortable, spacious and pleasantly presented. Careful planning has gone into making Cilan a very welcoming and easy place to stay. The essentials provided were most helpful, plenty of towels, t-towels, bin bags, dishwasher tablets etc.
It was great to have one downstairs bedroom for one of our party who would have found the stairs difficult. There are plenty of places to sit together and in different groups. Due to the good weather we were able to sit outside to eat most meals, enjoying the lovely garden and surroundings, there is a large table and a BBQ. The Hot-tub was a bonus, sitting in it and watching the view was very relaxing. The maintenance man Aled, was very helpful and around most mornings so we could check things with him.

Recent stay at Cilan Farmhouse was perfect in every way. It was great for a large group get together, everything about it was perfect, everyone had their own ensuite. There was 2 lounges and a large dining area. The kitchen was supplied with all utensils required. Several people in our party are talking about visiting again with family in the future and we may well visit again next year for our yearly get together as it will be hard to find somewhere like it. Can’t speak highly enough about it. We also used shepherds cottage which was smaller but just as good.

We have just returned from an Easter break at Rivercatcher where we stayed at the Cilan Farmhouse. It was by far the best property we have ever stayed in and there is nothing you can fault. The location (even in the rain) was amazing and the owners were brilliant - not intrusive at all which I have found to be an issue at other rentals. We were fortunate enough to have a sneak preview of the new lodges which are out of this world, the only problem being you would want to try each one as they are all so unique!! We will definitely be making a booking soon.

We spent my wife's 40th at the property as a surprise with the whole family and had a fantastic time, couldn't fault the place at all, it was perfect in every way, this was our third stay at Rivercatcher and i'm sure we will be back for more.

Everything about our stay was perfect.
Booking was easy, information provided was very useful, it was clean, it had everything you would need if you didn’t want to leave, the little touches like the welcome hamper was lovely.
I couldn’t recommend this lovely place anymore. I can’t wait to come back.

We had an absolutely amazing stay! The Farmhouse is very spacious even for 10 people, 1 dog and a baby!! The bedrooms were all furnished really well and all ensuite too. There was a lot of special touches,like a gorgeous hamper on arrival, dog blankets and baby facilities. Great for entertaining and enjoying meals together on the big dining room table.

The outdoor hot tub got used a lot, overlooking the river.

Close to lots of walks and a local pub.

Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Cilan Farmhouse is by far the most luxury self catering accomodation we have ever stayed in. Situated in an area of outstanding beauty, the quality of the furnishings and decor is outstanding and it is spotlessly clean throughout. Lots of things to do in the surrounding area and some wonderful places to eat if you dont want to cook. The hot tub is an extra luxury which is most enjoyable ! Plenty of space for a family to enjoy each others company or to chill out in the lovely lounges. The kitchen is outstanding and has everything you could wish for— We even cooked a fantastic roast dinner for 10 on one of our visits. We will definitely be back-/ well worth every penny spent on a wonderful weekend

Our group included 6 adults, a 3 month old baby, a one year old and a two year old! We chose the property as it appeared luxury/high end and we knew we would be spending a lot of time in the property due to the time of year and the younger members of our party requiring an early bed time – We were not disappointed. This was the best holiday house I have every stayed in.

The house was spotless, warm and huge whilst retaining the cozy nature befitting a farmhouse in Wales.

Booking, communication and arrival/check in were faultless. The grounds of the house are fantastic, river views, large fenced garden (gates to access the river). In the garden was an excellent hot tub with multiple jets and lights. This was always available to use and towels were provided in the lounge.

The lounge was large, comfortable and warm with plenty of seating a modern television and access to the garden. TV Room was used for buggy’s, coats etc, but is also a large comfortable space. The dining room is charming, rustic and spacious with fisherman style lights and a large wood burning stove. Seating for 10 is easily achieved.

The kitchen is large, well equipped, high quality with lots of storage and a huge fridge, access to the garden here was handy. An additional breakfast table is between the lounge and kitchen as is a downstairs bathroom, both useful.

All bedrooms are ensuite, very tasteful and clean with super comfy beds and high quality bathrooms. Games room (separate from house but literally 10 metres) has a good quality table tennis table, football table and wooden train set for the kids.

The local pub is a belter, proper old school boozer with good home cooked food and less than a mile away (nice 20 min walk). En-route just happens to be a Michelin starred restaurant – Couldn’t really make this up!

The owners clearly take great pride in the cottages as the others appeared maintained to the same high standards. Would definitely visit again.

12 of us stayed in 2 cottages and I'm sure between us we used, played with and tried everything and there was nothing to fault. Fantastic properties in a stunning location, we are already planning a return.

The nicest cottage we have ever stayed in. It truly is luxurious. The facilities amazing, the hot tub a real bonus. The views are spectacular. We are already planning our stay in 2018
Couldn't recommend highly enough
If I had to give a negative the only thing which we thought could be extended slightly was the time we have to vacate which is 10.30, but to be honest it hasn't put us off booking again in 2018

The quality of this house is outstanding with excellent facilities in a well maintained and fantastic location ...all of the staff are very helpful and our stay was enhanced by lovely special touches such as welcome basket of local produce, ample logs for the fire and hot tub towels .

We returned for a second time to Rivercatcher in Aug 17, staying again in Cilan.
The House is very large, extremely well appointed and furnished, including very comfortable beds. The location of Riverctacher is the highlight, in beautiful quiet countryside right on the river for fishing, with a hot tub in the garden looking over the countryside, as well as BBQ outside.
Its close to many of north Wales's attractions, from walking to more adventurous pursuits such as mountain biking, white water rafting, and the various Zip World locations.

I'm not often moved to write a review but the excellence we experienced at the Cilan Farmhouse deserves to be shared. From the moment we arrived, Jen, Andy and the team couldn't have done more to ensure our every need was met. Knowledgeable, helpful friendly and very accessible, they were superb. And then there's the house itself. We've stayed in f luxurious properties over the last five years, but this beats them all. The living area is just fantastic, perfect for two little ones to roam around inside and extremely comfortable for adults. It offers everything, nothing is missing, from the Netflix offering through to the well-catered and high quality kitchen. The bedrooms are great too, all of them ensuite and all of them very comfortable, clean and tastefully furnished. The private garden is very large and fenced, ensuring little ones are perfectly safe. The views from the garden are just breathtaking too, you cannot fail to be impressed. The hot tub offered something extra and is huge, easily accommodating 6 people. It's well maintained too; the team check the cleanliness of the water everyday, and ensure it's topped up as required. All in all, the best property we have ever stayed in. We will be back.

Our second stay here, the first being in 2016. It was just a enjoyable as the previous one, even though we were all an year older.
An excellent property with amples of room for five adults (one an OAP), three teenagers and two dogs!

Had a great week with 7 of us in Cilan Farmhouse. Place nicely decorated and comfortable whilst still feeling new and very clean. Each bedroom being en suite works particularly well for a large group and every bedroom was nice too (sometimes you get that last room that no-one wants but not here!) Lots of space downstairs for people to spread out and the patio table comfortably seated everyone.
Garden is nice and genuinely dog safe with views across the river and the valley. Hot tub went down well and is checked daily.
Owners and their on site support very helpful and friendly. Wifi a little flaky at times but to be expected in a relatively isolated spot I suppose! 15 min walk into Llandrillo for local pub and shop. Good location to visit many parts of north Wales although expect to drive at least half an hour to get to any of the more popular tourist spots (remember to book the day ahead if you want to go up Snowdon on the train!) Try Harlech Castle though - the view across to the mountains is simply stunning....

Over the moon with the standard of accommodation. The best we've stayed in so far for our get together. Beautifully decorated, comfortable, spacious and well equipped house. It was our second visit to cilan farmhouse at overmatched and it certainly won't be our last. It's such a spacious comfortable house, meaning our family group of 2 to 68 year olds can always find their own space. We love the fact that all the bedrooms are ensuite and equally lovely. The garden is safe for children and the surroundings are beautiful. We made full use of the hot tub overlooking the river Dee, and enjoyed time fishing for grayling and trout. The games room is great for our family competitions. The area is beautiful with many activities on offer (some of us went on the zip wire at Bethesda, or cycling at one of the trails, a couple enjoyed a romantic meal at the nearby Michelin restaurant. Aled keeps the whole space spick and span, nothing is too much trouble. It's our favourite place and we would happily recommend it to other families.

We booked out all the cottages at Rivercatcher for a long weekend for our wedding, which we also held on site. Our family stayed in Cilan Farmhouse, we stayed in Ghillie's Cottage and our guests in the other cottages. Andy, Jen and Bryn were a great help both leading up to and over the weekend - they answered all our questions and made sure we had everything we needed (and more) over the weekend. Rivercatcher is in a beautiful location and the cottages are fitted out to an exceptional quality - all our guests commented on how lovely they were. I would wholeheartedly recommend Rivercatcher to anyone for a break in a lesser-known, but beautiful area of North Wales, and we hope to be back again soon!

Three generations of family celebrating 3 birthdays in this fantastic Farmhouse - the luxury accommodation suited our family perfectly as my 86 year old mum prefers a ground floor bedroom, lots of space for everyone in this high standard well equipped accommodation. Hot tub was fabulous and the Lodge kept us all entertained with our table tennis tournaments. We had a lovely meal in the Dudley Arms and enjoyed local walks. We all enjoyed ourselves so much we can't wait to return.

It is easy to just tick Excellent and be done with a review like this but I truly could not fault Cilan Farmhouse so in this case the high praise is definitely deserved. It will always be possible to find fault, afterall things do go wrong on occasion however, the noisy boiler we encountered during our stay was fixed quickly and with minimum fuss and I can honestly say it did not detract in any way from the wonderful stay we had. Cilan Farmhouse is located in a quiet idilic spot next to a river that was perfect for us to explore the local area and even Anglesey beyond. It is a big, clean and very well appointed house that instantly made us feel at home. The large private hot tub (or hot swimming pool as our little one understood it) was used every night and checked/maintained every day during our week long stay. There is a games room on site which we also used a couple of times, however, most of the time we were out in the mountains or exploring the many wonderful waterfalls in the area. We had a wonderful stay at Cilan Farmhouse and would definitely return again ourselves as well as recommend it to families who want to explore the great outdoors or simply enjoy the internal space of the property away from the rush of modern life. Thank you Jen, Andy and Aled for making our stay so comfortable.
