Gezellig (heh-sell-ick) is our gesture to a bohemian style log cabin. With an eclectic mix of styles and colours it has a vibrant and fun yet relaxed feel.
The Dutch word Gezellig means cosy and friendly, comfortable and relaxing, enjoyable or gregarious. It can also denote time spent with loved ones, or general togetherness. It's less about a word and more about a feeling. A feeling which we have created for you to experience.

Just spent a last minute break in Gezellig lodge. The standards are extremely high here, the lodge is absolutely perfect with your every need covered. Snug, comfortable and well equipped. They are beautiful lodges. The landscaping and garden furniture are immaculate, we even used the hot tub. The lodges are perfectly positioned to take in the outstanding views of the mountains, from your bed, sofa or decking. You have complete privacy and the stay was a real treat. My husband was thrilled to catch brown trout, salmon par and a number of greyling. We enjoyed some nice trips out to Pontysycllte aqueduct, Plas Newydd House, Llangollen, Lake Bala, Lake Vrynwy and Chirk Castle.
The maintenance team do a fantastic job of the grounds and accomodation. It is that good we extended our stay a night.
I highly recomend staying here.

The log cabin was well designed, modern, well equipped and short of nothing. Everything was thought of including wood for the log burner. The grocery welcome pack including coffee, butter, biscuits and wine was a great touch. The hot tub was very clean and hot. Can't wait to go back

We book many places and are both very fussy, this place was perfect, couldn't fault it. Everything fits and just works so well. Would be a perfect long wedding venue.
Only thing that could improve it, is a delicatessan style vending machine on site!

Absolutely loved our 3 night stay at the cabin. The hot tub was a great experience for enjoying the views of the lambs playing. Comfortable bed and a great power shower. Facilities were perfect for a short stay. We preferred to eat outside when possible as the table was appreciated. Island bar eating is a little uncomfortable for longer meals (probably more a reflection of our age and inflexible backs!). But everything was ideal and we will most definitely be planning to return at some point. Thank you.

From the moment we arrived we knew this place was special & we would be back. 5 star standards & a little bit of luxury goes a long way to having an amazing weekend. We didn’t want to leave our lodge to explore as we loved it so much, however we tore ourselves away for a couple of hours each day to visit places but the draw of our little bit of paradise & the hot tub kept calling us back ..

We have had an absolutely incredible stay at Rivercatcher's Gezellig log cabin at the end of February.

It was safe to say that the cabin had everything we could possibly need and more. Whether it was equipment for the kitchen (everything from cooking utensils, pots, pans, graters, you name it) to storage space and a fridge and freezer, we had nothing to want for extra.

Dealing with Andy and the caretakers was smooth, easy and pleasant. The customer service and attention to detail was unlike any other accommodation I've stayed at.

The smallest caveat would be that the Wi-Fi isn't the best, especially in bad weather. So just a suggestion would be to download your shows/films or whatever else you need the Internet for ahead of time just in case. It was good enough to be able to do basic things such as accessing websites, scrolling social media.

The location was absolutely stunning! To have a beautiful river in the back garden felt unreal, and the views of the fields and mountains on the other side were out of this world.

We brought our dog with us and even for her the site was more than accommodating, one of the most dog friendly places I've ever stayed at. Both the garden and area by the river are completely fenced off, so perfect for letting your furry friend run around without a worry.

I couldn't recommend a stay at Rivercatcher even more, I doubt this will be the last time we will have stayed here.

We stayed for our honeymoon and very much enjoyed our stay! It was perfect and we really enjoyed it.
The only negative which is very small was one of the robes provided had a stain on the sleeve and the loop for the belt was torn off.
I’ve not reflected I in my review because you could tell the robe had been washed and was clean and I didn’t bring it to any staff to get it changed as I was ok with it!

Beautiful cabin with stunning views and a gorgeous hot tub! Which was maintained every day by some very discreet maintenance men who when we did see them as we were leaving the cabin some days were really nice to say hello too and have a quick chat!

I would highly recommend Rivercatcher and will be returning for another holiday!

Our second stay in one of the superb Rivercatcher Cabins. They have thought of everything you could need!

The upgraded hot tubs are very good indeed and a big improvement over the previous ones.

The views over the Berwyn Mountains and the overall situation remain stunning. The staff are so lovely and it was good to see owner Andy on site and really involved in how it’s run and speaking to his clients. It’s great for dogs and their needs are so well catered for.

Only one area for improvement for us, the bed was a bit too soft.

We were looking for somewhere to stay that was accessible to the river Dee valley and Snowdonia. We choose the RiverCatcher Cabins. Our cabin more than met our expectations. It was set in beautiful surroundings that provided the ideal location for exploring North Wales. The staff were friendly and very helpful answering all our queries. The site is also ideally situated for anglers wishing to fish the river Dee. We would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

We spent a lovely week at Rivercatcher. The cabin was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. It has gorgeous views up into the hills and, at this time of year, a multitude of lambs in the field opposite. Any issues we had during the stay were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We certainly hope to return.

The cabin is perfect and the views .
We went to the waterfall and I got asked an important question and of course I said yesss!
We left as fiancé's, will never forget that moment at the top of the waterfall in the snow just like a fairy tail.

We wanted a relaxing break after Christmas and this amazing lodge at rivercatcher did not disappoint. It is in a beautiful setting, so well maintained and serviced. As soon as we arrived we started relaxing and will most definitely be back. The lodge was so well equipped with all we needed. The log burner and hot tub are just lovely.

The only negative thing about our stay was that we wished we’d booked 7 nights instead of 3 as we really didn’t want to leave! My family recently stayed in 3 of the cabins and loved every minute of it! The cabins are beautiful and thoughtfully decorated, nice and warm and positioned to get the best views of the stunning scenery. Can’t wait to come back!

We enjoyed our first visit so much that we decided a return trip was in order.
The new hot tubs had been much advertised and were every bit as luxurious as they had been described.
We love being able to hike up the Berwyn mountains from the door. Then we enjoy the beautifuuly maintained gardens with big skies and relaxing in those tubs. The lodges are very well equipped for a peaceful, cosy break.

Loved every minute of it. The owner was great. Lodge and surroundings were amazing! Lovely little touches like dog bowl, tennis ball and blanket. Only thing would prefer to have complete privacy with fencing but understand why there is a small section where you can see your neighbours. Highly recommend perfect break.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Rivercatcher's Gezellig Log Cabin. The cabin was perfect, clean and had everything we needed. The welcome pack was really nice. We had amazing weather whist we were there. We enjoyed the stunning views whilst sat on the large decking area and reclining in the fantastic hot tub. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog, Willow. The grounds are lovely to walk around and it is nice being close to the river. During our stay we went to Bala for chips by the lake and to the Rhug Estate Farm shop, we recommend doing both.

This was my second visit to Rivercatcher. I stayed in Shepherds Cottage last year, and recently Gezellig log cabin. They are both very comfortable and clean with high spec fittings, everything you need for a stress free holiday with the added bonus this year of new hot tubs. It is all very well maintained - even the car park is smart. Andy and Aled are very friendly and accommodating.
The only improvement I think could be made would be better quality pillows, but that would not put me off returning.

We stayed for 4 nights in September and had a wonderful stay - admittedly we couldn’t have asked for better weather, but the log cabins are so welcoming that I’m sure you’d enjoy it just as much in the rain. We loved our week at Rivercatcher.
Our only advise would be to make music and radios unallowed in the gardens and on patios as one of our neighbours intruded ius with their taste of music just when we were listening to bird song and silence.

Alex was so friendly and helpful as was the other man , they both kept the place immaculate and had lots of London cap knowledge.

We loved the views and clean air.

So much to do in the area, a week was not long enough.

Wow! What an amazing holiday we’ve had. The log cabin was everything we wanted and more. The location is stunning and the grounds are gorgeous thanks to the maintenance staff. We enjoyed the stunning weather by relaxing in the hot tub and having bbq’s. We got home and immediately booked our next stay for my 21st birthday and New Year’s Eve! We will recommend Rivercatcher to friends and family who I know will love it as much as we do. Thankyou for an amazing holiday where we made some lovely memories! X

We arrived on a very miserable day when the weather was extremely wet and windy. The moment we walked through the door into our home for five days, we relaxed into the holiday. First impressions were great. Gezellig was inviting, comfortable and well-equipped. We had everything we needed to enjoy our time in north Wales. The quality of the experience was enhanced by the expansive views of beautiful countryside. The hot tub is positioned to maximise that sensory delight. We loved the walks up the Berwyn mountains from the door, but there are lots of other places to visit close to hand. Few guests would hesitate to return here. It is distinctively superior holiday accommodation!

This was our 3rd stay at the Rivercatcher, this time for our babymoon, and it was perfect! We booked with confidence during the lockdown knowing that if the lockdown easing is delayed, we wouldn’t lose any money. The Covid-19 T&Cs at the Rivercatcher are fantastic, not something I’ve seen at other holiday self-catering accommodation.

We love the Rivercatcher log cabins because of their comfort, location (the views are gorgeous!), the log fire and, of course, the hot tub. We don’t usually return to the same holiday accommodation more than once, purely because there are so many options on offer, but the Rivercatcher is the first location where we keep coming back to again and again, as we know we’d get to relax away from it all, in a Covid-19 safe environment.

The log cabins have everything you’d need for a relaxing self catering break - a BBQ, nice crockery and glassware, a dishwasher, oven/grill as well as a microwave and a freezer for all the ice for our G&Ts. The seating areas outside of the cabins are perfect for a late morning brekkie and snoozing in the sun.

Surrounded by the stunningly beautiful Welsh countryside, our stay at the Gezellig log cabin at Rivercatcher was tranquil and relaxing- a perfect antidote to our busy city lives.
The bohemian Gezellig maintained a balance of homely comfort but with Wow factor in abundance. We particularly enjoyed using the hot tub and BBQ in the evenings.

Fishing at Rivercatcher was second to none, with an abundance of species from large pike to superb Grayling and trout.

Overall a superb break. We will definitely be back.

What’s not to like. Beautifully presented spotlessly clean properties with hot tubs looking out over the hills or the river. It’s an oasis of calm and tranquility. Great customer service if you need it but if you don’t just kick back and enjoy. We love Rivercatcher and will definitely be coming back

I booked this long weekend at Gezellig cabin, for my husband's birthday for a relaxing treat and it was just that. No expense has been spared on the whole of the Rivercatcher estate and it's clearly been a labour of love from the owners. There was such attention to detail on everything from the quality of the furnishings, to the welcome pack and we really tried hard to find fault with the place whilst we were there but we couldn't. The hot tub was religiously checked every morning. Firewood was free and the views were tremendous. Everything was perfect and of top quality. We loved our time there and were sad to leave. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is our 4th stay at Rivercatcher, over 5 years, and as always everything was perfect. The location, cabins and cottages are beautiful and the care and attention of the owners ensure a peaceful and relaxing stay. There are lots of places to visit locally, but sometimes we struggle to leave the cabin, other than for a local walk along the river, then back to sit on the decking overlooking the snow capped mountains, followed by a dip in the hot tub!

This is an ideal place to find peace and tranquility. The property is wonderful: clean, well-equipped, romantic and relaxing. It is a great place to unwind and be peaceful. The surrounding area is pretty and there are many places to visit. Staff are helpful and friendly. I have never stayed at such a wonderful place. My husband and I were so impressed with Rivercatcher lodges. It is beautifully located on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, which is perfect for exploring the local area. The surroundings are so quiet & peaceful, we only saw a couple of people over the 3 nights we were there! The cabin is very well equipped, to include everything you could possibly need. I really appreciated thoughtful touches such as “sleep well” kits (including eye masks & earplugs) & carefully selected books on mindfulness and happiness. There is plenty of kitchenware to use throughout the stay, and plenty of cleaning products too (eg dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid). The bed was large and comfortable & the living area was lovely too. There is a Netflix subscription already set up which is excellent for snuggling up in an evening & watching a film. The decor is described as “boho indulgence” and is decorated in turquoise blue, purple & fuschia. It really worked with the “Nordic” style cabin too, and the large apex windows were spectacular.

Outside, there is a large enclosed garden - (perfect for the dog!) and also a good size patio area with a big swing seat & a gorgeous hot tub! Unfortunately I couldn’t use it, as I am pregnant but my husband said it was very comfortable!

We really appreciated the welcome hamper (which included fresh products from local suppliers - bread, butter, jam, welsh biscuits) and the dog appreciated his “doggy welcome” too! This included a blanket, a water bowl, poo bags & a tennis ball.

We definitely will be recommending and returning to this little haven.

We had not stayed in this part of Wales before, so didn’t know what to expect.
We came for a restful week after 2 weeks of work on our house. We had a really relaxing week in peaceful surroundings.
The hot tub was great.
The lodge was outstanding and we were lucky with some fine weather.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
All in all, a great holiday.

Gezellig is finished to a high standard and has everything you need for a relaxing break. The grounds are immaculate and the view from the hot tub over the fields is lovely. There is a log fire for cooler nights and outdoor furniture for the summer. We had a great stay, Artemis the dog loved it and despite the average weather we would most certainly return.

We stayed here for a nice long weekend and took our dog with us.
Everything was just so seamless - getting the keys, unpacking close by, the little doggie goodie parcel we had. It was like every little detail had been though of and it just made the stay so nice right from the start. The cabin itself is stunningly beautiful. The decor and little finishing touches really brought the Boho vibe to life. I loved that there’s instructions for everything. It just helped make sure you were using everything correctly.
The hot tub was an added treat considering how cold it’s been getting and it just added to the point of how immaculately clean everything was.
Gorgeous cabin with incredible views - I have already recommended it to anyone who will listen! Thank you for a much needed relaxing stay x

Loved the lodge, one of the best self catering we have stayed in. Very comfortable, warm and cozy. Easy with our dog with safe fenced in garden. Shame that the river was flooded, so fishing no good but you can never. House your weather. We will come back and I have already recommended it.

Lovely modern cabin with good views over the rolling hills (and not overlooked by anyone). Very well equipped. Really spacious outdoor area with a good hot tub. Maintenance team were round the ‘holiday village’ everyday which appeared to be very well cared for.

We arrived early which wasn’t a problem at all, Gezellig was ready for us. Aled was very helpful and friendly as was ‘the boss’. Everything we needed to make our stay comfortable was available (just a shame about the weather)!! We would definitely recommend Rivercatcher to family and friends.

It's obvious that a lot of time and effort has gone into these lovely holiday lets. Very dog friendly, with a perfect enclosed garden overlooking the beautiful Welsh countryside. The hot tub was lovely and relaxing and was checked daily by the very friendly and helpful staff. A stunning accommodation with everything we needed. Its certainly somewhere that we would look at going back to and we cannot fault the whole holiday experience that we had, from the ease and help through booking the lodge and the time we spent there. No expense appears to have been spared making these lodges a true luxury experience. It was so refreshing to have the little items covered, such as salt, pepper, foil, tea and coffee. The decoration inside is stunning and the swing seat and jacuzzi outside were perfect.
The only downside we discovered at 5am the next day is the bright sunshine lights up the whole room and wakes you up, whether you like it or not! Personally, I prefer to enjoy a good night’s sleep on holiday, so it did rather ruin our plans for two busy days hiking. The eye masks provided by Jen helped a little, but we returned home rather jaded, rather than refreshed.
