Charming city centre luxury apartment, situated in historic brewery conversion, retaining many original features including its own Victorian crane! The apartment offers two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a stylish kitchen/dining area, delightful living space and secure courtyard parking for one car. Generous complementary Yorkshire Produce hamper which showcases local foodstuffs. Only the shortest of strolls to York Minster, the apartment couldn't be better placed for York's attractions, and yet is tucked away in a tranquil, medieval backwater.

We had another excellent holiday in York ,which was made all the more enjoyable because we were staying at The Old Brewery Hop Store.It is very convenient for the centre of York ,and a secure parking space is quite rare in the City.Although the apartment is centrally located it is relatively quiet at night.

A great place from which to explore York. Staying here means the car is not needed until we leave. So many things to do and see all within walking distance.

Complete with parking and in the middle of York makes this a perfect stay! Perhaps a little cramped in the lounge area for four, with the ancient crane taking up some space, but perfect for a couple. Well equipped and perfectly presented - also a very good welcome pack. Close to everything and only a short walk from the station too.

Absolutely brilliant accommodation. Lovely gift basket. Everything you could want provided. Clean, comfortable, lovely view of top of minster and little outside courtyard.
Would happily live there.
So convenient for town. Parking on site (though we didn't need it).

Another lovely holiday in York made even better staying at the Y.O.B. Our third year at the apartments, first the Malt house 2nd
and 3rd at the Hop Store, our favourite.
Second floor nice view from lounge of the Minster and evening sky, a big plus is the lift. The apartment perfect for all our needs
nothing extra required, plus being able to park our car in gated area.
Spacious lounge and kitchen/dinning bedrooms and showers all good also nicely decorated.
York a very nice place to holiday reasonably flat for walking and plenty to see.
Back home now looking at dates for our return visit in 2025.

We have stayed several times at the Hop Store and have fallen in love with both the apartment and York.
The standard is exceptional every time; we have stayed in other holiday homes and there is simply no comparison.
It’s such a treat to arrive at this beautiful place.

The most lovely apartment fantastic location everything from cafes, shops, restaurants and of course The Minster all on your doorstep and secure car parking.

The apartment is just perfect lovely comfy beds exceptionally clean through everything you could possibly need is thought of and of a high standard.

The owners have put a lot of thought and effort into making this apartment one of the best we have ever stayed in and can’t wait to return as soon as we can.

What is not to like! Lovely character property within the old city walls, by York Minster. Furnished and kitted out to a high standard with all you could reasonably want from your home from home. Historic York on your doorstep. Park the car and head off to explore. No wonder there are so many comments in the visitors' book about repeat visits.

Another lovely stay at the Hop Store. It is always nice to return to York and we love staying at The Hop Store , the apartment is very comfortable with everything you need. The hamper is a very nice with coffee & tea and other things.

Difficult to imagine a better situated flat, so convenient for York’s historic sites, excellent restaurants, glorious walks around the city walls and streets so full of character and interest. On-site parking is a real bonus. We would not hesitate to recommend this beautifully and tastefully appointed flat.

Absolutely loved our stay. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable apartment that is conveniently located just 2 minutes walk from the Minster. Everything has been thought of and the apartment is very well equipped. The welcome package was generous and delicious and it's a real bonus having a private parking spot. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time we come to York.

A lovely Apartment. Unfortunately as my husband fell ill, we had to leave the next morning. So our stay sadly cut short. Vacated the apartment just before 10.00 Tuesday 20th February.

We had a lovely stay , once parked by the accommodation there is no need to use the car , everything is just a comfortable stroll.
As with all Heritage Escape cottages everything is to the highest standard. We enjoy revisiting all their properties.

Another great visit for some pre festive fun! First time staying in the Hop Store, we usually stay in The Malt House, but we thought we would have a change, and were not disappointed. The apartment is well located, well equipped and very comfortable with every facility on the doorstep. Great choice of restaurants locally as well as further afield but perfectly situated for shopping and cultural visits with the added benefit of on site parking. Thoroughly enjoyable stay as ever. We have stayed in these apartments many times, and would highly recommend any of them. Brilliant location with parking [bonus). Apartments are immaculate and very well maintained. We spent a great weekend in York celebrating a big birthday and this apartment provided an excellent base for exploring all of York’s delights. It is centrally located and is extremely clean and comfortable with great attention to detail from the owners. The owners provided lots of valuable information to help us make the most out of our trip and were in communication with us in the lead up to and during our stay to ensure everything went smoothly. If you want to stay in York and enjoy all the facilities and attractions the city has to offer, what would you be looking for?
A very well appointed and spotlessly clean cosy apartment almost next to the Minster? Perhaps with its own secure parking. The Hop Store within the York Old Brewery would fit that bill perfectly. You would not be disappointed.

This our second stay at the apartments No3 first time, No10 Hop this time which we liked very much all on one level and
having the lift an added plus.
The apartment complete with every thing you could possibly need, very comfortable beds, great shower, a very relaxing
flat to come back to after walking historic York, or drop off your purchases and out again, gated private parking, from the
lounge nice view of the Minster lit up night.
Restuarants, pubs and shops close by but no noise was heard by us whether during day or night.
There is still a lot to see in York and surrounding area we are looking forward very much to visiting next year and the Hop
would be our number one preference.

We have now stayed at the Old Brewery ( The Hop Store ) York a number of times.
The apartment is spacious and well equipped and also has a lift to all floors. The secure parking behind electric gates is a particular useful and unusual feature in the centre of York.
The apartment is ideally situated near to York Minster, and although centrally located it is also relatively quiet at night.

This is simply a beautiful place to stay; right in the city and yet a calm oasis after a busy day.
It is luxurious and well equipped with glimpses of the Minster. We have stayed here several times and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in York.

Excellent! Sums it up. Very nice flat with everything included that you might need from coffee to tinfoil and the location is just the best. After arriving, and parked in the secure off street parking bay provided, I did not have to move my car once. York has so many pubs/restaurants/shops/attractions that we barely scraped the surface over a three day stay.

Great welcome gift also and even a call from the owners to check that all was going well. Only down side is we did not book it for the week as we were sad to leave such a great flat and fab city. Not for all but if you are a runner/jogger/walker, there are great long stretches along the river front not far from the flat, it does not take long to reach the countryside.

We hope to be back probably early next year and would happily recommend.

A lovely light and airey apartment located within the walls with parking and in sight of the minster couldn’t be better. Well equipped with absolutely everything you could want including all the basic household items e.g toilet rolls, dishwasher and washing powder, handwashes, kitchen basics etc. Excellent quality linen and comfortable beds. Surrounded by lots of lovely old pubs, restaurants and cafes. Bettys afternoon tea was truly memorable. Will definitely be back in the future.

Totally relaxing few days in this superb apartment, cosy, warm and very well equipped, with a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. Could not fault the accommodation, with the bonus of a car park. Once here we did not use the car as everything we wanted or needed was on the doorstep. York Minster right next door, and various museums including the wonderful Railway Museum. City walls walk, plenty of little shops and places to eat, you really are spoilt for choice. Everywhere is clean and people are so friendly, we hope to come back again.

Many pluses which everyone else has mentioned, it is undoubtedly a great location and the apt was spotless. But …nobody else ref to problems with underfloor heating - we couldn’t get thermostats to respond, very warm in bedroom. Bit draughty at times, we did advise owner of gaps to kitchen window. Beware metal structure, husband banged head twice on first day. If taking own food etc, not much storage space but again, we have advised owner. These are our constructive opinions, which we hope the owner would be willing to receive, in order to keep moving a property forwards.

We are vey sorry you struggled with the underfloor heating, finding it too warm . Underfloor heating is slower to respond to adjustment than most other types but reaches he desired temperature within 12-24 hours.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Hop Store. It is a beautiful apartment, fitted out to the highest standard and in an amazing location right behind York Minster. Private parking behind a gated entrance means you can forget about your car for the duration of your stay because the apartment is conveniently located close to all attractions - highly recommend!

As always,well equipped and welcoming, the appartment was warm and comfortable. Only downside is parking can be rather fraught if bigger vehicles are there (SUVs) and parked inconsiderate to others! We always return though.This is our go to place in York.

We have noticed over the years that our guests' cars are becoming bigger, and that some people do struggle with the parking spaces, (which are regulation size.) We intend to add a message on our website, indicating that if guests have a choice, to come in the smaller car. Having said that we have an Audi Q5, which is reasonably bulky and we have learned that the best way to park is to back in from the the road.

This apartment is a great place to stay in central York. We had not stayed for a number of years and it was a pleasure to revisit this property. It was as good as we remembered and we found it very comfortable and convenient for visitor attractions. Also, there was a much appreciated Welcome goodie basket!

A great venue for touring the county and seeing Durham city. Parking on site. Accommodation is clean and well equipped. The bedrooms are all well appointed and modern facilities and the hosts are friendly, on site but not intrusive in anyway.

Just to clarify in case there is any confusion - The Hop Store is located in central York. There is a good link by train to Durham, but it is over an hour away. Also, we the owners do not live on-site , but we do visit with each changeover.

The Hop Store is a lovely place to stay in York and has a fantastic location within view of the Minster.
Everything about our stay was made even easier and nicer by Angela the owner who could not have been nicer and more accomodating.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and well-appointed and felt airy and comfortable. From the massive bi-fold doors letting the outside inside to the large bathrooms to the great feel of the place, The Hop Store is a fine place to stay. The addition of parking for a car was also a bonus for a stay in York inside the city walls.
We had a great stay there and would definitely recommend both the apartment and Heritage Escapes themselves.

This a a beautiful appartment right in the centre of york. It is clean, very well equipped with comfortable beds. We had a lovely stay at the hop store, very clean and comfortable and perfect location we just parked the car and didnt use it until our departure. This apartment is situated within the City walls and literally a stones through from some fantastic restaurants and bars.
From the French bifold doors on the second floor you can see York Minster and listen to bird song and the bells from the Minster, not obtrusive.
There is nothing in the apartment that hasn’t been forgotten, just superb.

The Hop Store is a fantastic base for really getting to know York. Its location within the city walls meant that everything was to hand. Everyday we walked from the apartment to explore a new area. So good to leave the car behind in a good secure parking place.

When I booked this short break I was unsure which apartment to choose. - they all looked wonderful. I chose the Hop Store which was absolutely stunning. We have stayed in York several times, in different accommodation, including hotels and self-catering, and this is by far the best.
The apartment is simply lovely; stylish yet cosy. Everything was provided; including the best welcome hamper!
The bed was very comfortable; again such superior quality. A comfortable bed makes such a difference.
Recommend getting delicious croissants and ‘ cruffins’ from Little Arras bakery round the corner for a perfect breakfast in a perfect apartment. We will be back.

A beautiful apartment in the perfect position. Although I drive I travel to York by train and the Hop Store is a comfortable walk from the station..Obviously taxis are available but I find it better to walk. The apartments are decorated for Christmas and are lovely and warm. Hopefully I will visit at some time other than Christmas in the future.

The Hopstore has everything you could wish for including the very important parking spot. Although this time we came by train. Being a Patron of York minster I know the city well but there is always new things to explore.

As always an excellent stay in this beautiful apartment. Standards remain very high and the owners obviously care a great deal about the comfort of their guests.

The apartment had been decorated since our last visit; it’s good to see that the owners recognise the need for a refresh/update, this is, in our experience of other self catering establishments a rare thing indeed.

Have booked our next visit already!

One point - perhaps advance notice to guests of planned external maintenance may be helpful. Painters working at the windows and guttering from 8am, not an issue for us but may be for some.

Thank you for your lovely comments following your stay in The Hop Store. We, too, were a little surprised to see the painters with the cherry picker outside the buildings. All the apartment owners are lease holders and the fabric of the building is under the control of the free holder. She didn't give any warning that the painters were about to arrive. Unfortunately for our guests last week, there was a measure of confusion in the car park area and outside their apartments. Our apologies, but it was beyond our control.

The Yop Store is a lovely apartment situated in by York Minster. You can leave your car securely parked and everything that York has to offer is within walking distance from the front door. The apartment itself is gorgeous, two lovely comfortable bedrooms and spotlessly clean bathrooms and kitchen. The sofas are also very comfortable. The only thing we missed in the basket of food was a fresh loaf of bread, that would have been preferable to museli. Overall a fantastic apartment that we would highly recommend.

This is an apartment close to the Minster (in a very quiet street), fully equipped with stove, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine-dryer and pots, pans cutlery, dishes, glasses etc., TVs in every room. Everything was sparkling clean and we had a very comfortable stay for a week. and We felt welcomed with a nice hamper (incl. wine, juice and milk in the fridge). The hosts are very nice (although we never met them in person – they live outside town), but they called us to check whether everything is okay. I wanted somewhere special to celebrate my 50th Birthday, and The Hop Store certainly stood up to the challenge. It is a beautiful apartment and upon opening the door, it is just Wow. You just walk around it looking at the original features, going are we really staying here!. We had a very enjoyable, comfortable stay and would certainly love to stay here again. It is a stone's throw from the centre and with the added bonus of secure parking, it takes the stress out of worrying where to park the car.

We have been staying at York Old Brewery once or twice a year for many years but for some reason never at The Hop Store so last weekend was our first stay at this beautiful apartment. The light just floods in through the bi-fold doors and all rooms are delightful being equipped and furnished to a very high standard. It is lovely being able to glimpse the top of the Minster from your sofa!
The location is brilliant being within walking distance of all of York's many attractions -we had a lovely walk along the River to Rowntree Park this visit.
York was relatively quiet due to current circumstances but we were all so pleased we went ahead with our visit as it helped to return to normality for a few days.
Owners are very attentive and extremely helpful and we already have another visit planned and will be sorting out more dates soon. Thanks to Angela, John and James for ensuring our visit went ahead without a hitch.

Having stayed in one of the other apartments previously, we were pleased to be returning to a different apartment and, as before, absolutely loved it. The apartments are SO central, but the road is an oasis of calm in such a busy city and it was always a pleasure to return to the peace and quiet of the apartment after battling through the tourists which are always in York over a weekend.

Facilities are excellent, with comfortable beds, well equipped kitchens and probably the most comprehensive welcome pack we've ever seen in a self catering place.

Stayed as the first guests at the York Hop Store 11 years ago and the property is still of the exceptionally high standard and yet it is homely and comfortable. Booking etc couldn't be easier - we always tend to be a bit last minute but never any issues
Definitely would recommend the property and also the location as so close to York town, minster etc and yet it is ohh so quite even on New Years Eve. has parking which is a big advantage
All the little things are thought of like loo rolls soap a hand towel in the bathroom, several kitchen towels ( does have a dish washer)
The beds are really comfy and lots of lovely hot water

We spent a few days at The Hop Store in mid December. The apartment is fabulous, well appointed and comfortable and the position, within easy walking distance of the many attractions of York, is excellent. We have been coming to the Old Brewery flats for the past 6 years and they never disappoint. Beautifully furnished with a very generous welcome basket the flats are in an ideal location for visiting York. Although all the flats are lovely the Hop Store is our favourite.

I loved our stay here. Almost perfect apart from the entry systems. I failed on every attempt to open or lock apartment key safe. Husband always had to do it and he struggled to lock it. Entry details for gates need updating. The gate was locked at 6:30pm. I think clocks not put back in October.

From arriving in the rain to waking up in glorious sunshine the next day.... WOW

There is absolutely nothing to complain about in this apartment everything you would need is there and if you don’t cook then you walk to the end of the road and there are restaurants and bars everywhere.

York was just superb and this apartment is central to everything.

We enjoyed our stay in York. The accommodation is excellent. The only problem we had was the heating system in the flat. We were too hot and the quilts are very heavy, perhaps a lighter tog i.e. a 2 or 4 tog could be made available. Otherwise this is a very comfortable apartment.

The apartment was well proportioned, clean and light. The location was perfect - we could see and hear the Minster from the Juliet balcony window. The location was surprisingly quiet considering how well positioned it is: our visit was in a heatwave but even with the windows wide open we were rarely disturbed. The welcome basket was a nice touch, and the living area was well laid out. Just what we wanted, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

The apartment was very easy to find on arrival in York. Short drive from Monk Gate (about 250m). Parked the car on arrival in the allocated space and didn't move it again until leaving for home. Quite area. Short walks to Minster, Train Museum, Shambles etc. The minster towers could be seen from the apartment (3 storey with apartment on the top floor). Lift and stairs to top floor.
Lots of restaurants and coffee shops locally. Try Kennedy's pub for breakfast on the roof terrace.

Lovely basket of tea, coffee, wine and milk to welcome the visitors. Smart TV with TVs in both bedrooms. Ensuite to main bedroom and further full bathroom off hall. Washing machine in the cupboard in the hall. Didn't use washing machine on short stay and it may be a washer/drier.
Visited Elvington (Yorkshire Air Museum) on the way into York and it was well worth the visit on a nice fine summers day.

This is the first time we had stayed at the Hop Store but we have stayed at The Granary at Field House before (and will be returning later this year) so knew the apartment would be good. However it was even better than we had expected. The location is superb; we parked the car when we arrived and didn't use it again until we left. York Minster was literally a stones throw away, as was the main street into the center of York and yet it was incredibly peaceful and we had no disturbance from noise, even on a busy Saturday night.

The attention to detail within the apartment was excellent, including a very generous welcome hamper. There was everything there we needed. The beds were extremely comfortable with high quality linen, and the underfloor heating meant the apartment was wonderfully warm and cosy.

This was a wonderful 3 day break and if we ever return to York we will certainly be returning to the Hop Store.

This was the first time we had stayed in the apartment in the centre of York, but it will not be our last. The secure parking and location of the apartment is a real bonus. The apartment has everything you require and is maintained to a high standard and cannot be faulted. This was our 3rd stay at The Hop store and for quality self catering in a great location it is unbeatable.
The apartment is maintained to a very high standard which can't be easy given that it is booked out so much of the year!
The welcome basket is generous and thoughtful and if you are a stranger to York there is so much helpful information.

This was the fifth time we have stayed here in 18 months and we had a wonderful week as usual. This time the apartment had been decorated for Xmas which was a pleasant surprise. The Hop Store is in a superb location, within the walls and very close to the Minster and to all the attractions and shops. York is a beautiful city! The secure gated parking is a welcome bonus and means the car can be safely left.
The apartment itself is clean and comfortable and there have been some nice refurbishments since we last stayed. A treat is the welcome basket which always feels special. The attention to detail is faultless.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Hop Store except that we don’t want it to become too overbooked!

We have just returned from a 4 night break here. We would very much recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to stay in York. Its location in the centre of York is within walking distance of the many bars, restaurants, shops and the Minster. The apartment was clean and very nice appointed with everything you could wish for. The welcome hamper was also a nice touch. We will definitely be returning.

The York Hop Store is in an excellent position from which to explore York.
The huge bonus for this property is the parking space, like many other who stayed at the Hop Store the car was not used from the time we arrived until we left.
The property is very well equipped and the welcome hamper was much appreciated.
If you want a clean,comfortable,well equipped and convenient holiday apartment then you must seriously consider the Hop Store.

We enjoyed every minute of our short stay in York. This was thanks in part to having the Hop House to return to after each excursion. My husband has recently been unwell and is unable to take on any arduous trips, but it was a perfect location to wander into the City, and It was always good to return and enjoy the comfortable, bright and well equipped apartment. Also the proximity to so many good eating places was much appreciated.

We can understand why so many of the previous visitors have returned.

We spent a lovely 4 night break in the Hop Store apartment. The location was fantastic with views over the Minster. The apartment had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The apartment is in an amazing location, literally 2 min walk to the Minster and is was also clean, modern with parking for 1 car and the hamper on arrival was a nice treat.

This was our third visit to this property and once again we enjoyed it very much. We travelled to York by train and it is less than a mile to walk from the railway station or a short taxi ride. It is very close to local shops to purchase essential food items and there are numerous places to eat out within easy walking distance. We stayed in this property in April for 4 days and returned in September for the full week. It was as good as last time and is so convenient for the centre of York. It was very quiet despite being just behind the Minster. Once again we enjoyed the contents of the Welcome Hamper which is the best we have received in any self catering property. Everything about our stay was perfect. I could not fault anything. It was only a short stroll into the center of everything and yet it was quiet in the evenings when all the pubs were emptying.
One evening it was a little chilly but only took ten minutes to heat up thanks to the underfloor heating, so it would still be a perfectly comfortable break even in midwinter.

A really lovely apartment with a very generous welcome hamper. Very well equipped and cosy. Spacious bathrooms and lovely comfy beds. In a quiet location, but minutes from the Minster. Onsite parking was brilliant, in fact never used the car once we arrived as everything was in walking distance. Enjoyed the Minster, railway museum, the Treasurers House, the Castle museum and of course tea at Bettys mmm... and of course a bit of retail therapy for the ladies. Just a short break this time but would love to come back and stay longer.

The Hop Store is an excellent and well appointed apartment located. Although located right in the heart of York it is in a very quiet location ensuring a peaceful and relaxing stay. York Minster is just a minutes stroll away as are the local shops for immediate needs. Equally you are not far from a hugh selection of bars, restaurants, bistros and other tea rooms so once you are settled you can forget about about using the car for a while left in it's gated allocated parking space..

Very easy to locate, only 15 minutes walk from York Railway station or a short taxi ride. Light airy and very comfortable apartment close to all amenities. The welcome hamper was gratefully received. We loved this so much that we booked to return in September whilst we were still on the first visit.

A really excellent apartment in a brilliant location just inside York city walls. We could walk everywhere and really enjoyed walking the walls and visiting the Minster.

The flat and location are excellent, the City has almost eliminated motor vehicles from the Centre and the flat is at the start of that zone and it makes the whole experience a joy, so calm and relaxing in every respect. Great shopping, eating and city walking on your doorstep.

We traditionally have a weekend away close to Christmas with friends and decided on a city break for a change this year.
York Hop Store was ideal for our needs. A tasteful, comfortable apartment with two bathrooms and lift access.
It has a really welcoming feel to it, helped by the very generous and useful welcome pack full of lovely local products. So many establishments now provide nothing at all.
The location could not be bettered. Very easy walking distance to the Minster and shops. The parking space is a real bonus in the middle of York. We did not need to use the car at all during the weekend.
There are a huge amount of restaurants in York but as this was the weekend before Christmas everywhere was very busy.
We enjoyed shopping for ingredients dinner at the Shambles market and the apartment was very well equipped for eating in.
We would have no hesitation recommending this apartment and will definitely return.

The Hop Store is a wonderful place to stay in York. There is safe gated parking, but we did not use our car during our stay. Everywhere seems to be in easy walking distance - shops, eating places, museums, the Art Gallery and most of all the Minster.

The Hop Store is well furnished, well kept and very clean. It was a relaxing, enjoyable stay.

As always very happy with the accommodation. You need to be made aware that some of the crockery and cutlery were soiled even though they had obviously been through the Dish washer,This we remedied by adding salt which we also did in the Malt house.I also took it upon my self to fix the toilet seat in the Bathroom as it was very loose and unstable using tools provided in hall cupboard.None of this in anyway detracted from our stay.Finally the reason we did not comment in the guestbook was we had already packed our pens and also did not want these petty negatives to encourage other of your more pedantic visitors.Lol.Kind regards,Roy.

This apartment would have to be in the best spot in York.Go out and turn left and walk for 200 yards and you are immediately at York Minster. Go out and turn right, walk 100 yards and you are at the Shambles. The most amazing thing is that the street itself is not used by tourists and stays quiet both day and night.

I first read about The Hop Store in a magazine (Sainsbury's?) years ago and thought it looked amazing and so unique. We have talked about it several times but timing never quite worked. Then, early June, I came across The Petrifying Well and really wanted to visit - asked my husband 'where is North Yorkshire?' (I'm American, but have lived here for many years and have never grasped the geography) and he rolled his eyes and said 'almost Scotland'. Then he followed up with 'but that place you keep going on about staying is in North Yorkshire'. We looked and were amazed to find the August bank holiday weekend available! So we booked it.

I cannot say anything that has not already been said about the property and the owners. Simply superb! Spotless, everything to a high standard, wonderful area, lovely owners. Everything about our stay was wonderful and how fantastic to walk out of the property and be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of York. Having a car parking space was wonderful and so nice to have the freedom to go out and about without worrying if we may struggle to park when we returned.

All the little touches in the flat were so thoughtful. If you order takeaway from deliveroo, have a look for a discount code in the drawer under the toaster. I loved the other little items you might find yourself in need of that lived there, too.

It may be a bit more expensive than other properties, but it was worth every penny to us. First truly relaxing weekend we have had in many months.

We loved York very much - hope to come back some day and could consider moving there when our working days are done. I very much believe that the property added so much to our stay - I can't imagine considering anywhere else if we should find ourselves in the area, and we will certainly check if the owners have properties in any area we visit in the future.

Wonderful stay at the Hop Store in York. Apartment could not be better in appearance and housekeeping with all necessary conveniences. Loved the open doors and aspect and above all the central location. Not only right near the minster but surprisingly in a very peaceful and pretty quarter.

All four of us had a memorable stay and are already missing it. Thank you for providing a superb apartment.

We stayed over a weekend with 2 teenagers. The apartment was spotless, beautifully furnished & well-equipped.
The location was excellent - just 5 minutes from the hustle of York but on a quiet street.

This is a quiet spot in a busy area, very near the Minster. Excellent facilities with a bathroom for each bedroom. Also a lift which is very helpful for those with mobility issues. Highly recommended.

I've stopped in York a number of times and this is the best apartments I've ever stopped in. Its ideally located in the centre of York, but when you are in the apartment its hard to image, as its so quiet. The apartment is clean and comfortable and has every thing you need, a real home from home.I couldn't fault it, brilliant. I will definitely stay here again when I visit York.

This is our second stay at the Hop store. The flat is lovely, we enjoyed some warm weather while we were there and took advantage of opening up the big windows overlooking the Minster and it's such a great location you don't need to worry about noise. It is easy to get anywhere in York from the apartment, but it's so nice to be able pop back there for a rest (and some refreshment from the fabulous welcome hamper) whenever you feel like it. We will be back!

Fantastic short stay. Close to everything in York. The Hop Store perfect for two couples. The added bonus of the lift for elderly parents was very welcome. Father, as an ex policeman, appreciated the great security for an inner city stay. Everything inside was in really good condition for what is obviously a popular choice to stay. Lovely spacious bathrooms - again having two and sharing with another couple - major bonus. Really good value for money and super welcome pack. Choice of eatery experience for us was the tapas and sherry bar on the corner of the street - as locations went could not have done better. We are already missing the views of the Minster. Hopefully will be able to rebook in the near future - would not now stay anywhere else in York.

York is a wonderful city, its heart being the Minster - one of Europe's great buildings. Just round the corner is the Hop Store, a peaceful sanctuary close to the city's busy centre. A sanctuary with parking, what's more, and, in York, that says a lot!

We've stayed in the Hop Store (and its next-door neighbour the Old Malt House) several times. For us, it's ideal: warm, comfortable, clean and stylish. We like the contrast between the up-to-date furnishings and fittings, and the sense of ancient York just outside.

We've already booked our next stay.

It is hard to find anything but good to say, I highly recommend this apartment. A couple of picky things: we had friends staying in York, so eating together was OK, but maybe a couple of fold-up chairs would be good; and a chest of drawers in the double room would be very useful. Other than that, please keep it just as it is, we last visited in 2011 and were relieved to find the standard was just as good, thank you.

I'll certainly see if I can find a set of chest of drawers that blend well with the other furniture. Storage of fold-up chairs is more of a problem. This is a lovely property close all that York has to offer. Access was easy, parking arrangements great and first impressions excellent. My only issue was that beds were left unmade so we had to make the beds. Not an onerous task but for a property of this class I would expect everything to be made up

We've stayed in many hotels in York but the Hop Store beats them all with the added benefit of a fab location and free gated parking in the courtyard right in the centre of York. Beautiful and quiet accommodation kitted out to a very high standard with a welcome hamper to the bargain. We highly recommend the Hop Store having now been back a second time and looking forward to our third when we next visit this wonderful City. Be in no doubt this is the place to stay!

Following our fantastic stay in the Malt House in August we decided to return, but this time, to try out the Hop Store. We were NOT disappointed.
A first class apartment with great attention to detail. Very clean, warm, peaceful & restful and comfortable.
We had everything that we needed.
Very generous welcome hamper greatly appreciated.
Found the modern lift a great asset when transferring luggage.
The Christmas tree and decorations, which were lit for our arrival, was a very nice gesture and most welcoming.
We are already thinking about our next short break in the beautiful city of York for 2016, but have the added dilemma as to which of these two excellent apartments to choose. Maybe two breaks would be the answer.
Have already recommended these apartments to family & friends.

We have been enjoying a week in the wonderful city of York now for the last 17 years & have tried a variety of self catering accommodation. Without question, this apartment is the VERY best we have stayed in! Every element of it was perfect; spotlessly clean (I always take a packet of dettox wipes & this is the first time I didn't need to use them); the beds were very comfortable; the location of the apartment was superb (love hearing the Minster bells); the apartment was very well equipped & the welcome hamper was a wonderful touch too.
To suffice, we have found something truly wonderful & we very much look forward to returning & staying in this perfect place.

The Hop Store was extremely comfortable, and outstanding to be next to York Minster and have a parking space too. Had a lovely stay and only walked into the brewery crane twice! Highly recommended accommodation.

We aarrived early-yet were allowed in!
Lift not working-fixed within the hour!
Spotless;well kitted out with a very comfortable sitting room.
Fully fitted kitched/dining area-a home away from home.
Surely should be an extra star for somewhere this good.
And behind the Minster in the centre of town.We will be back.

Well situated contemporary property handy for shops and places to eat. The double bed in the main bedroom was not of the same quality as the rest of the fixtures and fittings.

myself wife and daughter stayed for a week in the hopstore .brilliant location for the town.really great apartment easy to find and nice and comfortable.if you want a stay in York this is the place for you . we are returning in march next year as we don,t think we can find a nicer place .

We had an incredible weekend staying at The York Hop Store with family. The place was spotless and immaculately finished. The location could not have been more ideal. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay.

A beautiful apartment in a great location and an ideal Base from which to explore the city.

The apartment itself was full of character, yet modern, incredibly clean. Very warm and comfortable. We were provided with a welcome hamper full of goodies on arrival and received a call from the owner to ensure all was ok. We felt very welcome and looked after and would definitely recommend this apartment to friends and family.

Great location only minutes from the Minster, in fact it is visible from the lounge.

Excellent to be able to park.

Almost perfect - only criticism was the level of dust.

Would certainly book again.

Thank-you for your review, Tessa. Your comment concerning the dust was difficult to understand, as coincidentally, myself and a team of two others had been in the apartment the previous day, doing a 'deep clean' of all the areas. We particularly paid attention to the high beams in the ceiling area and vacuumed them all, in each room. I can only think that having spent all day there cleaning throughout, dust in the atmosphere must have settled during the night, because we left it in pristine condition. When I rang on Saturday morning to check everything was fine, you indicated that there were no problems whatsoever.

Our first stay in the Hop Store (we stayed in the Malt House first time round). If anything, this is even better than that because it's all on one floor and there isn't quite the struggle up the steps with baggage, but they're both so good it's hard to put a pin between them. The setting is superb - right in the heart of ancient York, but quietly hidden away. The apartment is stylish, very well appointed and comfortable (though we think the beds in the Malt House are better - a more recent acquisition?). We come to York regularly because we have family here. This is the ideal home-from-home. For holiday visitors who come just now and again, we'd strongly recommend the Hop Store as an excellent place to stay. The hamper of goodies was just right!

(PS: There's a new combination lock on the smaller gate to the street, which locks after dark. What's the key code??? We had to use the main gate to get in!)

We spent one week in this lovely apartment in York. Travelling by car, a parking space was essential. Even if you don't need it, I would highly recomment this apartment. It is bright, immaculately clean, very confortable, quiet and in a perfect position. We could not have wanted anything more.

Two couples enjoying York's delights for a weekend thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Hop Store.
The directions were spot on, the location just inside the walls gave easy access to everything that York had to offer.
The flat was clean and very well appointed giving all one could wish for. The complimentary Hamper was delicious.
We can full heartedly support this venue.

We really enjoyed our city break in this gorgeous flat - fantastic location with a parking space meant we were completely car free. The spec is very high and the flat was spotlessly clean. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We loved having the full length windows open to enjoy the view of the Minister's Chapter House. Very happy visitors!

Well-appointed apartment in a central location, very close to the Minster. On the second floor, reached by a lift, this is in a converted brewery.There is a small and pretty courtyard garden with table and chairs for shared use. The rooms are spacious with lots of light and decorated in contemporary style. A welcome hamper contained locally-produced goodies, along with fresh milk, home made apple juice and cold beer in the fridge. A top choice.
