Blakey House is a cosy and comfortable home with a wood burning stove, pretty garden area and a private entrance. This luxurious property provides the perfect place to escape to and enjoy the peace and quiet. Part of the original home farm cottages for the Manor House at Brinkburn Priory, this stunning cosy property is part of the historic Brinkburn Estate.

Probably the cleanest rental cottage we have stayed in. Excellent communications before and during the stay. The cottage was very cosy and the rooms were spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and beds were very comfortable. Lovely enclosed garden. We couldn't have asked for more.

Stayed at Blakey House for a wedding and had a fabulous time in the cottage. I do have some minor pieces of feedback to share for the owners, but overall this was a great stay. There were so many nice spots to sit down with a book, and it was just a shame we didn't get to spend more time there since we were busy all weekend with wedding celebrations!
Feedback for the owners:
1. The outdoor table and chairs were very difficult to get to, especially for less-mobile relatives. Two of the seats were relatively ok to reach by walking across the wet grass, but these first two chairs blocked access to the others, meaning we had to leap over the flower beds or move our relatives and their chairs in order to get past. It's hard to explain, but try it yourself and you'll see what I mean! Hopefully you can juggle the layout a little to make this more accessible as it was a lovely place to have breakfast.
2. A fellow wedding guest tried on one of the robes you provided and found an intact packet of pills in the pocket, indicating that it hadn't been washed.

Blakey House is as lovely as the photos on the website led us to believe it would be. On arrival we parked between two beautiful low beech hedges, not a concrete post in sight. The lovely front garden is thoughtfully planted, even for an April stay. It bodes well for summer with climbing roses reaching up the front of the house. The tiredness from our journey lifted on walking into the lovely kitchen with dining area beyond. The view from the window reaches over the lovely garden to the field beyond which leads down to the river. Idyllic, particularly with the many tiny lambs exploring the field with their mothers watching over them.
The house is so welcoming and warm, with a lovely mix of contemporary and antique furniture. The very large bed was extremely comfortable with beautiful white bedding. Both bedrooms have stylish en-suite bath/shower rooms, beautifully appointed.
The whole house has a wonderful, relaxing feel and there has been so much thought put into making it so comfortable and stylish. The wood burning stove in the lounge was laid and ready to use with extra logs in the basket. There was a most welcome hamper for both us and our dog!
We would have been so happy to stay in the house all day, every day but it was the perfect base for meeting up with old friends in Northumberland. There are some lovely walks from the house for dogs and owners. We kept ours on a lead with so many lambs around.
If there was one small thing to make life with our dog a tad easier it would be the addition of a sturdy hook on the back of the door leading into the kitchen from the front entrance. Dog leads, collars, harness and dog towel could then all be put within easy reach rather than on the kitchen floor by the washing machine!!
Our only regret is that we hadn’t booked a longer stay. It was our first visit but hopefully it will not be our last. A gorgeous, very comfortable house surrounded by other beautiful buildings, set in lovely, rolling countryside.
Paradise.

The cottage was very well stocked with everything from crockery, utensils, dog bowls/blankets to logs for the wood burner
It was our first visit to Northumberland and it was a great base to explore from. Our dog loved the beaches (his first trip to the seaside)
The cottage was immaculate and very cosy, would definitely recommend and consider returning to explore further

We stayed for a wedding in August. The cottage was very tastefully decorated and modernised. Bedrooms were large and we particularly appreciated that both were en-suite. Little gestures like the fresh coffee grounds and milk in the fridge were very much appreciated. All in all, a fantastic base for a couple of nights and a great addition to the offering at Brinkburn.

We loved the peaceful location of the house which was lovely and it was well equipped. The kitchen was so easy to cook in which we enjoyed. There was a lovely generous welcome pack with lots of nice things and a bottle of wine.
Both bedrooms were clean and comfortable with lovely country views. The whole house was really clean and there was everything we needed.
The garden had good outdoor seating and a large table which suited us all. We can’t find any faults. I’d very happily stay here again.
The owners checked to make sure that we had everything we needed and I felt if we needed anything they were there to help us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at Blakey House.
The location is perfect for a variety of amenities and activities in a quiet rural position but within minutes of village cafe & shop.
Stunning countryside and coastline all v CV lose by.
Sadly we just didn’t have enough time to explore all the recommended eateries of which the ones we did visit were excellent!!

We enjoyed our stay at Blakey House but felt that more thought should have been given to the choice and arrangement of furniture in the sitting room. The furniture was in good condition and reasonably comfortable but the arrangement made it difficult to watch TV. A larger rug in the sitting room would have provided an additional feeling of warmth and comfort as well as a softer surface.

The upstairs bedrooms are spacious but with limited storage space for four people. A large chest of drawers in one of the bedrooms could not be used as it was full of additional linen.

Although adequate for most meals for two, we would have needed additional crockery if there had been four. A small sharp pairing knife, more chopping boards and trivets would also have been useful.

I hope these comments are helpful.

From the warm welcome from Emma on arrival to lovely Leigh’s amazing, relaxing & rejuvenating yoga & meditation sessions to Andrea’s scrummy, nutritious food…the carrot cake - oh my! Such thought, care & attention to detail from the moment we arrived to the point of departure, which came round too quickly despite the fact it also felt like I’d been there forever… I think it has some magical Brigadoon thing going on - seriously, Brinkburn definitely has magic in the air!
We stayed in super cozy Blakey Cottage & couldn’t of been happier. I loved the log burner which was all ready to be lit. Everything you could possibly need & more was provided…a huge selection of teas, fresh coffee (so happy) fresh fruit, milk & biscuits, what a treat! The beautifully scented toiletries were a lovely touch in our en-suite…& so many more thoughtful & perfect things that are just too many to mention.
The whole place oozes character & charm, unassumingly super stylish & immaculate, set in the most picturesque Northumbrian countryside.
I promise if you visit you’ll fall in love with it too. xx

We had an enjoyable stay in this cottage. There was everything you would require and was very comfortable. It was ideal as we were attending a wedding at the Priory on the Saturday. The booking was handled efficiently by Katie and Emma, who were pleasant and knowledgeable.
Would certainly recommend it to friends who may visit the area.

The other half of the wedding party stayed in this house, interconnecting with the Cuthbert house. This was perfect for the guys getting ready in the morning. Everyone joined together to make a big breakfast. All had a good night sleep and loved their rooms. They are all lovely modern and clean houses/rooms. Staff couldn't be more helpful and location is beautiful.

We had a lovely stay at Blakey House! We're a family of 3 with a 2 year old daughter and the house had everything we needed. It was extremely comfortable and cosey. The windows are single glazed and the window in one of the bedrooms was slightly rattley in the very windy weather we had we had, but the property is surprisingly warm anyway. It's a rural location, very quiet set in grounds of fields and woodland with the river Coquet running through it and the priory is about 1km away which is a lovely walk from the doorstep. The beaches are about 30 minutes drive, and there's lots of other places to visit close by such as Cragside which is stunning! We've booked to come back again in the autumn, it's a perfect break for our small family!

This was our second stay at Brinkburn but our first in Blakey House which has a great layout for 2 couples; plenty of social space but also private bedroom/bathroom accommodation. We cooked every meal during our stay in-house from scratch; super local, fresh ingredients! The log fire is a delightful, cosy end of busy day comforter! Our little border collie loves it at Brinkburn, she settles immediately and the enclosed garden and walks through the estate are a plus for her and us. The tranquility and ambiance of Brinkburn are a real tonic and there's so much to do within a short drive from here that we need another trip soon!
The housekeeping team are very responsive to any requests and are positive and friendly; we had guests one evening for dinner and extra chairs and place settings were provided without any fuss at all.
One minor point would be to try to provide a way to dry towels in the back bedroom/ensuite; with very little hanging places and robes and towels to dry on chilly and damp days it was a little tricky.....maybe a plug in heated towel rail?
We will be back....in fact we would happily move in
