Mullins House is part of the historic Brinkburn Estate in Northumberland. It is a semi-detached property, traditional in style but boasts a modern and cosy interior. It is ideally situated in the heart of Northumberland with easy access to the coast and Castles, Cheviot Hills, Northumberland National Park, and Hadrian's Wall. All our guests also have access to 30 acres of wood land the river and fields.

An invitation to a family wedding brought us to Brinkburn.
We stayed at Mullins House which felt like a home from home.
Clean,modern interior,fantastic facilities including thoughtful touches such as luxurious handwash.
Owners were super friendly and happy to welcome our dog.

We've visited Northumberland before staying in Wooler just up the road and it is just as lovely such a relaxing holiday with good weather and visiting various places.mark and Kate gave us everything we needed.

We were here for a wedding on site. The whole feeling from arrival to finish was just pure relaxation. The cottage was amazing and the welcome pack added an extra touch. The staff that we interacted with were polite and went the extra mile for us. We were even fortunate enough to get a tour of the changes on site and are already talking about returning with our family.

Had a 4 night stay at Mullins House. The cottage was lovely and had everything you needed. Weather was hot so unfortunately did not get chance to try out the fab looking log burner. Plenty of logs had been provided (even in June) and I can imagine in the winter it keeps the cottage very cosy. Emma, the owner, introduced herself and let us know that they were happy for us to walk the dog in any of the fields surrounding the cottage and down to the river, so had many lovely walks from the doorstep. The cottage itself was spotless and a lovely welcome hamper for humans and dogs was waiting for us on our arrival. The only thing to point out is there is no back door to the garden (you need to walk round the side of the cottage). I had worked this out before I booked so no issue for me and can understand why, as the cottage is so old, this would not put me off booking again. The cottage is in an ideal location for visiting the coast and inland. Would not hesitate to recommend it and look forward to returning.

As I’ve already said directly, the website omits vital information about the property, ie that there is no direct access to garden from house. Also, my dogs were attacked by, I believe, the owners dog which was running loose, despite a “dogs on leads and supervised at all times” rule for people staying. This caused me to fall heavily on my back which both frightened and shocked me. Apart from a patronising email from someone in accounts, blaming us for our complaint, no-one came in person to apologise about the dog attack and no reduction in charge was offered. We left after 2 nights, having booked four, because of the inconvenience with the garden arrangement and upset caused by the attack. Not a good way to run a business

I have absolutely no doubt this review will be binned!

The groom and his family loved their stay in the cottage. The only problem we had was a slightly hectic check-in process. Other than this, the cottages were gorgeous and everyone enjoyed their stay!

We stayed for a long weekend in Mullins house. The property had everything we needed and was a perfect getaway.
There was a welcome hamper and the log burner was ready to light.
The beds were really comfy and there is an Ensuite to each bedroom.
Our dog loved the walks directly from the garden which was a sun trap even in February.
The endless beaches are about half an hour away, through breath taking countryside and the nearby restaurant recommendations were excellent.
We had a fantastic time and would definitely return.

Fantastic accommodation. High end fixtures and fittings. Lovely fruit bowl on arrival, lots of complimentary teas and coffee. Luxurious towels and bathrobe. Very comfortable beds. There was nothing that could have been improved. Emma was so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for her. Would definitely stay again.

The welcome pack is a excellent gesture with good produce well equipped kitchen, 2 amazing on suite bedrooms 1 a with a bath very warm an cozy all modern could not fault would really recommend. We didn't visit any areas as it was for a wedding weekend at the Priory which was excellent. Would certainly return .

Beautiful house, very good night sleep, excellent facilities to do breakfast etc before heading down to the wedding. Staff facilitated a Z-Bed in our room no problem. The house was shared with grandparents who have reduced mobility, they had no issue here everything was great.

We have stayed at Brinkburn a few times now… and every time we love it more!! Mark and Emma and their team are so lovely and helpful, and everything is always just perfect!! It’s in a great location, lots of interesting places to explore, and wonderful restaurants nearby. You can never fit it all in … A good excuse for another stay.

An ideal place to spend time with friends or family. The team were so friendly and helpful before arrival and during our stay. The cottage was cosy with a log burner and the en-suite facilities for both bedrooms were especially welcome. The suggestions board of places to visit and where to eat was an added bonus as was the welcome pack. We would certainly visit again.

This was a really fabulous place to stay.
The booking was easy and any queries answered quickly and efficiently.
There were little surprises that were much appreciated: a welcome pack with great coffee, croissants and other treats.
A thoughtful view on where to visit and to eat - we followed the recommendations and were not disappointed! Great to have logs for the fire, kindling, washing up facilities.
I stay a lot in small apartments for walking holiday and short breaks and this is probably the best i have had the pleasure to stay in.
Beds were comfy - it was very clean and it had everything we needed to cook and spend the evening in.
The lighting in the sitting room was a little dull but that’s the only thing that wasn’t fabulous. A little pricey for 3 nights - if i could have stayed a 4th night, it would have been perfect. Quiet and glorious location…..thank you Brinkburn!! “I will be back.

We had a lovely stay at Mullins House. It felt cosy, comfortable and private enough that we could totally relax. It’s a great location for exploring Northumberland, we travelled all over the county and nothing is more than 1.5hrs away. One of the best holiday cottages we’ve ever stayed in, we would highly recommend booking!

My husband and I and our adult daughter had a very enjoyable stay at this lovely cottage it was everything we could have wished for and more.
Lovely big comfy beds with crisp white bedding, beautiful luxury en-suite bathrooms.
The kitchen was modern and a joy to cook In as it was well equipped it would have been nice to have had a little more crockery as then the dishwasher would not be needed to use so often.
The welcome basket was excellent with milk, snacks, wine, croissants, eggs tea and coffee and oil and vinegar .
The location was lovely too with local walks.
The instructions we were given to find our cottage were not quite right which caused a few problems on arrival but soon rectified.
Much better than going through Airbnb when you never quite know what you will end up with.
Booking in was perfect and straight forward no hidden costs.

We were really delighted the moment we drew up in the car, the location, gardens and planting were beautiful and the house was impeccably clean, well furnished, with a big comfy sofa which was appreciated. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need regards equipment and there was a thoughtful hamper of goodies provided.

Upstairs the rooms were great , good quality duvets, comfy beds and great bathrooms.

I am a picky individual but I couldn’t fault the cottage...
And thank you Catherine for all your hard work, thoughtfulness and great advice regards places to eat and even the route home

The cottages at Brinkburn are all beautifully decorated, very clean and tidy. The beds are sooo comfy and it is very quiet.

The staff are incredible and cannot do enough for you!

We will definitely be returning and have already recommended to friends and family.

A staycation in an excellent cottage in superb countryside. Next to Brinkburn Priory the cottage is a wonderful base both for local walks from the front door to visiting both coast and the hills. The servicing of the cottage was first class and the owners very helpful without being the least intrusive.

Mullins House was the perfect location for a week away in early July, after the stresses and strains of the Covid-19 lockdown. The location was perfect for exploring Northumberland’s incredible coastline (England’s best kept secret?) and the national park areas, and we particularly enjoyed trips to Embleton Bay, Alnwick gardens, Cragside, and a boat trip to the Farne Islands. The house was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. It was a treat to have beautiful Brinkburn priory on the doorstep, the grounds of which we could enjoy morning and evening before / after it was open to the public. The owners of Brinkburn holiday cottages are delightful and made us feel very welcome. We will recommend to friends and hope to visit again.

Finding Mullins near friends in Morpeth, near the Great North Run and near delightful Rothbury was great: lovely place, with walking country all around, and a marvelous hub for visiting Northumberland in every direction. We were very comfy and Mullins was just right to stay 'at home' in when we wanted a sit and rest day, too.

We had 4 families staying at Brinkburn in 4 separate dwelllings. Over the Christmas week. What a fantastic location. With such a large group we all ate and cooked at the stables which when using the White room was superb. The properties have been cleverly designed to give you s feeling of space with old and new features throughout the houses.
The owners where very helpful and friendly but allowed us to just get on with things.
The location is very central and makes a great base if you want to explore the the local countryside. What a find, we will be back

This was a lovely place to stay. The location is gorgeous; the house, comfortably elegant; the team, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. From thoughtful and personal touches (ice in the freezer, a fire ready in the grate) to suggestions for walks and pubs, we were well looked after. We've planned our return!

We LOVED our stay at Mullins House. The cottage has been very well appointed and was perfect for our needs. The beds and linnen were excellent, kitchen very well designed. If I had any requests it would only be fora caffitiere and a few more childrens games/dvd's asd the TV was notnetflix/amazon enabled.

Mullins House was set in a beautiful location and provided everything our guests needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and was really appreciated after a long journey.
I would certainly recommend a stay in Mullins House.
