My wife and I have stayed in Rural Roosts three times (twice in Lapwing and once in Teal) and both lodges have been quite superior in offering comfort, full equipment and cleanliness. The lakes are quite an attraction, easily accessed both for fishing and for relaxing, and the farm walks take the active into very pleasant areas with far reaching views across the Lincolnshire countryside.
A mention must be made of the delicious home baked drizzle lemon cake which greets you on arrival, along with tea/coffee and milk for that much needed cuppa - really appreciated, thank you very much.

A blissful peace and quiet, surrounded by shady trees, bird song during the day and owls at night. Geese overfly in the evening and the far from intrusive guardians of freedom from Waddington RAF base occasionally.

Lovely week spent in Teal Lodge. Everything spotless in the lodge and very well equipped . We were fairly lucky with the weather and enjoyed fishing up at the reservoir . Best fish 17.9 lbs. A much needed rest and relaxing week was enjoyed by all. The owners are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them . We are already booked for next June and this time a two week break which we are all looking forward to immensely .

Wow what a fantastic time, we absolutely love staying at Rural Roosts. It really is like home from home except we not have a lovely veranda. We have had so much fun. Andrew had a really good time fishing - out most mornings at 5.30 and caught lots of fish, mainly Perch. He even ran out of worms and we had to nip to Short Ferry for a top up. Lincoln is well worth a trip to - the Cathedral looked amazing. We cannot wait to see you again in October.

Rural Roosts is set in a beautiful setting the view's are lovely and it is so peaceful, the sight of bird's feeding off feeders right in front of the lodge and watching blue tits in and out of a nest box was great. The Lodge was brilliant, big clean comfortable and very cosy, staff were out and about maintaining the site but kept a low profile while doing it so that they weren't in your face and were very nice and pleasant, it's a bit off the beaten track which for me and many others is good as you are out of ear shot of traffic.
Fishing mmmmm it was a let down for myself and many others, fish were caught yes but, it was hard going and no one caught more than a few in a days Fishing, the fishing was hampered by the weather though ( too hot ) but I really think the addition of at least one Aerator in the middle of the lodge pond and a couple strategically placed in the reservoir pond is going to benefit fishermen but more importantly the fish as it will put oxygen into the water and make for a better environment for them.
There are a lot of big good condition fish in the ponds, and as much as I have made myself sound very negative towards it I have been honest with my review, I still want to go back and try my hand at catching more fish, so much so that we are looking at booking up for next year, it is that much of a lovely place and the surrounding area's that fishing aside, there is so much to do and see or don't do anything just relax and enjoy.

This was our 4th visit to Rural Roosts, and as previously we had a wonderful experience, from the moment of arrival it was a real holiday experience.
As before, everything is provided, and any small attention to detail is taken care of.
The site was extremely well kept, and the amount of wildlife we observed was incredible.
Combined with the fishing, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday, We will certainly be looking to return.

We had a lovely stay at Rural Roosts.
Very peaceful and tranquil. The view over the lake is wonderful and the walks around the site were lovely.
Even in March the Lodges were toasty and warm.
Kate was very helpful throughout our stay and we were only a few minutes drive from the local shops and facilities.
It was also handy to have some frozen meals, bread, eggs etc at the site shop if we ran out or were feeling lazy.
Overall a wonderful stay and highly recommended.

Lovely time spent here at Rural Roosts friendly people very relaxing the dogs loved their walks around the farm . My grandson loved his stay he was able to ride his bike around the different pathways with his dad running behind him. From the moment we walked through the door our stay was amazing! The cleanliness is second to none and the facilities are pure class. Katie ensures everything you will need is there providing top quality linen and cleaning products. Glad to see her amazing lemon drizzle cake on the table again, bonus. Due to a cancellation we were able to visit this wonderful place again. We have not stayed in this lodge before but really liked the location and extra space. Really well equipped as are all the lodges and the en suite was a great added extra for us. We liked it so much we have booked for a week next year. The fishing at lodge lake was good and we had some success at the reservoir. We can’t wait for our Birthday treat in October to sample the peace and tranquility this location offers. As always Katie on hand to make sure we were happy and the lemon drizzle was amazing as always. Just a shame there was none to bring home.

We had a great time at rural roosts , if you are looking for somewhere to stay that is in a quiet and tranquil setting where you can do a spot of fishing or just chill out and relax then this is the place . Lovely peaceful relaxing week in a beautiful setting. We had amazing weather which meant we ate outside on the deck everyday. We had a comfortable stay, very clean and all mod cons are provided for. The Lodge is spacious with three bedrooms, one on-suite, and a separate bathroom. There is also a well equipped kitchen and two 3 seater settees in the lounge area. If you like fishing the lake is right outside. The free Wi Fi worked fine as well.

We were very happy with the Covid cleaning regime and found that everything was provided for a most enjoyable stay. Lodge was very spacious and could have easily supported 6 people although we had it for just the two of us. The lodge surroundings were very well kept and everything was lovely and peaceful. It was relaxing and pleasant fishing at both the Lodge Lake and the Reservoir. Our only regret was that the stay was so short but we will return for a longer stay next time.

We have stayed at Rural Roosts many times. It is a quiet and relaxing place perfect to unwind. The lodges are lovely and well equipped. The lakes are great for fishing, even though it was tough this time round. Previously we caught plenty, a 21lb common amongst them.
We always enjoy staying in any of the lodges and Katie and her team are always helpful if we ever needed anything.

After being in lockdown for so long, we had not met up with family for months. Our lodge was immaculate, and the kitchen was so well equipped with top quality items. The verandah is very large and as we could not mix inside, perfect for meeting up. 8 people from four generations had a perfect holiday. We have already booked our third visit for the summer. Thank you Katie and family.

We booked another 4 night stay as our usual abroad holidays got cancelled due to the current pandemic
This was our fourth stay at rural roosts and as always it was a great stay
Teal lodge was Spacious with a lovely en suite bathroom in the double bedroom shower nice and hot
The lodge itself was clean and had everything we needed
Our days were spent enjoying the sunshine and fishing up at the reseviour where my husband had 12 carp up to 20lb in weight
Evenings were spent on the lodge decking where there was a table chairs and umbrella
Local co op 10 minutes drive away if you run out of anything we chose to eat in the lodge during our stay and the kitchen has everything you need to cook a yummy meal

Family get together for 90th birthday - Lodge and facilities were perfect for us to come together and celebrate. Katie called us on arrival and checked we were happy with everything & that we had everything we needed. The following day I called Katie to ask if we could have a toilet surround. This arrived almost immediately. I felt very reassured that Katie would be around & able to help out with anything we may have required during our stay. Our short break enabled my mum to relax and enjoy her birthday in a peaceful spot by the water. We were able to walk in the peaceful countryside and give the dogs space to stretch their legs. Fabulous break in superb accommodation and environment - thank you Rural Roots

From arrival at the lodge we found we had stepped out of a home and in to another. The Lodge was excellently equipped and nothing had been overlooked. The setting was idyllic and peaceful and the fishing on the reservoir was great! The whole experience from booking to departing was easy and made for a very stress free break.

We had an amazing week away here, with a 2.5 year old and a dog, the weather wasn't brilliant but we had wellies and a snow suit in tow so both were more than happy to run through the puddles on the grounds, we managed to visit the circus whilst we were there which was good, if anything it's the area of this lovely, tranquil, quiet, place, theres around 8-10 lodges I think all based on 1 side of the fishing pond and that's pretty much it a little shop when you first enter, it's a stunning place and Katie and Tim are wonderful hosts, not a thing missed, can't wait to go back

Once again by far the best lodge holiday ever,( and we've been on quite a few.)
We may not have had the best of the weather but that didn't matter to us, we came to have a great time and we did.
The best ever lemon drizzle cake I've tasted, a nice meet and greet from Katie, I would highly recommend Rural Roosts to anyone looking for peaceful and relaxing times, oh plus all the different types of wildlife in and around the roost and the fishing is one of a kind. They certainly look after their fish and the maintenance of both lakes is second to none.
If you're not certain about this place, you must read the reviews there all correct and you won't hear a bad word from us lot.

What a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was much larger than expected; there were six of us staying there and there was plenty of room for everyone. Warm, comfortable and with everything you could possibly need with the added bonus of a lovely welcome package, especially the delicious lemon drizzle cake, all in a wonderful setting! This was our first stay at Rural Roosts and I hope it won't be the last. I would recommend this place to anybody, in fact I already have. Lovely location. Main bed is a bit small, creaky and uncomfortable. Lighting is a little dim, energy saving lightbulbs take a while to brighten up but were still not really bright enough. Lots of wildlife to see from the lodge. Lovely walks nearby.

Another wonderful stay at this idyllic retreat. All the comforts of home and Katie and Tim cannot do enough for you. The welcome pack is an added thoughtful and welcoming bonus. Plenty to do in the local area or just stay onsite to enjoy the wildlife, fishing and plentiful dog walks straight from the door. A peaceful and relaxing retreat which allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life whilst still being able to keep the teens happy with the wifi if required. Basic provisions are offered onsite in 'The Roost' and there's plenty of DVD's to borrow if the weather is bad! Two places to fish, the lake and the reservoir. My husband chose to fish on the reservoir each day and caught a minimum of 15 to 30 fish in his 2 hour afternoon stint. There's a challenge for all fisherman! The dogs love the range of walks and so do we. Can't wait to go back.

Teal Lodge was very very comfortable and just perfect for getting away from it all. The fish were not biting when I tackled up but I managed to land a decent bream on Lodge Lake by the lodges. Another angler caught very decent carp on the part of the lake beyond the bridge and anglers at the reservoir were catching scores of fish. The Roost shop (unmanned honesty box) behind Teal Lodge stocked essentials and the bacon and sausages were among the best ever! Eggs, milk, bread, jams, raw honey, local rapeseed oil and local leaflets were also available at The Roost. I really didn’t want to come home as I loved the tranquility. We visited Lincoln Cathedral and Castle, very interesting historically (original Magna Cartas from 1215 and 1217 at the Castle). WiFi was very good, free view tv but no Sky tv. Welcome pack of butter, milk, bread, fruit and lovely lemon cake. Very rural location but small shops dotted about within a few miles. Lovely meal at The Ivy in Wragby and in the pizza place opposite was the best pizza ever with tons of topping and an hilarious patron, also does excellent donner kebabs, according to my husband! All in all a lovely week.

Amazing lodges and surrounding park. We arrived late so the welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, bread and lemon drizzle cake was well received! The lodge was cozy, warm and welcoming with huge bedrooms and a very well equipped kitchen where I cooked Christmas Dinner for eight people with ease. The WiFi went down Chistmas Eve afternoon which was unfortunate and the owner, Katie, did her upmost to liaise with her provider about this; it came back on on Boxing Day which was a shame but could not be helped. My teenage children were not too impressed though as you can imaging!
The lodges do not have enclosed gardens as such but there is an enclosed decking area so it is ideal for young children and dogs to roam freely. The dog walking is perfect too; with a dog exercise area and lovely walks in the Lincolnshire countryside on the doorstep.
The park is roughly a 15 min drive to Lincoln city centre so very convenient.
All-in-all a very nice stay and enjoyable Christmas. Thank you.

Our four day stay was just what was needed. A proper home from home with a beautiful view of the lake. We were looking for somewhere that would serve an age range from 7 -90 plus our dog. Not many places can boast that! From the first telephone call and throughout our stay Katie was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. The chalet was well eqquiped (they had thought of everything) very clean and very comfortable.
Two lakes gave plenty of fishing. The seating by the lake was perfect to sit and relax. The farm had walks and others were close by. A short journey to the local shop and pub. There are things to do with little ones, if you want just a base for your holiday and day trips out. We found it perfect to just chill and unwind. I would not hesitate in recommending this beautiful place.

We are just home from a great family holiday in these stunning lodges. We had 3 lodges between us for a family week away and we could not fault a thing. The attention to detail is amazing and all the little touches really make it stand out from anywhere else we have been. I have to mention the lemon drizzle cake on arrival as this was delicious and we brought some to take home too.
The location is perfect and a real get away from everything. The men were happy fishing and caught lots of fish, the children enjoyed helping too. I miss my breakfast on the decking already looking out on the peaceful lake as it's so tranquil. The children and dogs had such fun as well, a real outdoor holiday with lots of walks round the farm and bike rides.
Even though the lodges were so peaceful and hard to drag yourself away, there was still alot to do in the surrounding area if wanted too. Lincoln castle had a medieval event on the week we stayed which was brilliant. Lincoln is a beautiful city with so much to see and do. We are already planning our next visit back. Thank you again Katie with all your help and advice organising our stay. Love the Western's x

Another fantastic holiday at Rural Roosts 2 weeks this time loved it. Stayed in Teal lodge this year very comfortable and homely. The dogs Rex and Pepper love the walks around the farm and chilling out back at the lodge for me it's the perfect place to spend quality time with the dogs. My parents and niece joined us for part of the holiday and they all enjoyed it too. I will definitely be holidaying here again the water rail is great for cycling and we enjoyed eating out at the Nags Head bardney and the Riverside Inn at Southrey.

We are returning guests at Rural Roosts and will continue to be due to the high standard of accommodation and location. While the men fish ( in a well stocked reservoir and lake) we enjoy the lovely walks and play area with the children. The little ones are safe to run around with lots of space and enjoy the freedom RR offers. We all have binoculars including to little ones to try to identify the many birds that visit the bird feeding area, we saw a woodpecker this year and a kestrel in the field.

We have now visited Rural Roosts numerous times with our eldest son and his family.this time we took our youngest son and his family, his children are ages 5 and 2 and they loved it as much as our older grandchildren. The lodges are excellent, the fishing pond and resovoir peaceful and the play area and freedom for children wonderful.
