Nestled in woodland just a few miles inland from the wonderfully rugged and sandy coast of the Pembrokeshire National Park, this pretty cluster of whitewashed stone and Welsh slate cottages are a haven of family-friendly tranquillity. The handy list of nursery kit, play area and clutch of friendly farm animals makes them especially well suited to families with little ones, whilst theres a warm welcome for the family pet too.

The 32-acre estate is home to just five cottages so, even when fully booked, often the only time you'll catch sight of other guests is during one of the regular animal feeding and egg collecting sessions. These have toddlers squealing with delight as they experience real life 'Old MacDonald's farm' and are invited to collect eggs or hand feed the friendly brood of chickens, pigs, donkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs. Apart from that, Fron Fawr is best described as a fabulously tranquil slice of rural life, only a short drive from the coast, and the perfect place to let little ones roam free. Plus, for those parents who still hanker after a bit of romance, there's little to beat cosying up in the hot tub under the blanket of stars the almost zero light pollution allows for... keeping one ear out for the baby monitor of course

Accommodation Overview

Aneirin: is a recently upgraded 2-bedroom cottage with private hot tub and garden with fantastic views across the hills and fields of North Pembrokeshire.

Upstairs, there are two large bedrooms, each with enough space to accommodate a cot or toddler z-bed. The master bedroom has a superking bed (convertible into twin beds on request), an en-suite bathroom with power shower over the bath, and LCD flat screen TV with integral DVD player. The second bedroom can also have either a superking bed or twin single beds and has its own en-suite toilet.

Downstairs there is an open plan, newly refurbished fitted kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, leading into the dining room which will seat up to 6 people. Off the hallway is the downstairs shower room with toilet and the spacious double aspect living room with real flame gas fire, large contemporary sofas and patio doors opening out onto the enclosed private patio with hot tub and lawned garden with garden furniture and BBQ. There are stunning views across the North Pembrokeshire countryside from the garden and access into the surrounding fields and woodlands of Fron Fawr.

A bit disappointed

We hired two cottages for a long weekend. Nothing particularly wrong with either, but little character in either, the two bedroom one was magnolia throughout with a grey carpet upstairs. The furniture of the 4 bedroom one was the least comfortable ever. I think not much effort could make a more cheerful and comfortable house where the guests felt wanted. One hot tub did not work and there is no effort to plant anything nice in the garden - its as if the owners expect us to trash the place - Internet was terrible even when we asked for the private wi-fi.

This is in stark contrast to the e mails beforehand which were super friendly and helpful - I think because of the warm welcome via e mail, I expected the same from the cottages.

Spacious and well equipped guest house with a great hot tub. Kept very clean. The owners are very helpful. Set in beautiful countryside surroundings with farm animals on site and a small play area for the kids. 20m from Poppit Sands beach.

We enjoyed our stay at Aneirin. However we were disappointed that we weren’t welcomed by the owners, not even a ‘hello’!
The cottage is clean and comfortable, however the lounge is a bit austere and a cosy rug, and a bit of updating would help people feel more at home. The bedrooms are lovely with comfortable king sized beds and the bathroom is up to date with an excellent over the bat shower. The garden is ok and kept tidy however the planters were full of weeds.
All in all, this would be a great cottage with a few a few improvements and a bit more attention to detail.

We had the best weekend. This place is very special It met all our needs and much much more. We made use of the fantastic BBQ hut, fed the animals, visited the nearby beaches. I could not recommend it enough. Wonderful and very dog friendly.

Our second visit to Fron Fawr staying in Aneurin Cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent accommodation throughout, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Cakes, wine, fresh flowers and well stocked tea tray on arrival much appreciated! Lovely peaceful, rural setting with sheep, donkeys and alpacas in the fields and super views. A safe, secure garden for our dogs and several dog friendly beaches nearby. Thank you Helen and Gareth for a lovely break and we hope to see you again soon!

A great location and setup. This was our first family holiday with our 5 month old. A huge plus was all the baby accessories which could be provided, highchair, baby bath, monitor and steriliser. This made a huge difference for us. The enclosed garden was great for the dogs, the wooden walk brilliant for their morning walk and seeing the animals was lovely too. Hot tub is a great extra. Helen and Gareth were great hosts and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We had 5 great days and 5 days of sunshine! Would definitely return.
