A beautiful three bedroom 350 year old cottage in Kentisbury, near the popular coastal resort of Combe Martin in North Devon. An ideal base for families and groups of friends looking to explore and enjoy both Exmoor and Devon.

A wonderful week in a very well appointed cottage with a magnificent games room.

A last minute decision to go away for half term led us to Ford Hill Cottage and it was wonderful.
On arrival we were met by Adam who showed us around the property and presented us with the most generous of welcome hampers. Adam and Janet were always available but never ‘got in the way’ - perfect hosts.
The cottage is far more spacious than the pictures suggest and is furnished to a high standard and we particularly liked the extremely comfortable beds.
The kitchen has everything you could possibly need but with a fantastic range of pubs and restaurants within a 20 minute drive you may find that you do not end up cooking too often!
Of an evening it was lovely to come back to the log burner in the lounge.
The games room is a BIG bonus, it is huge and well furnished, many a game of pool and table tennis was enjoyed. Importantly it was well heated - we have been to a number of rentals where the games room had been in a converted garage and as a result they have been very cold/damp - that is not the case here with numerous radiators to keep the games room nice and toasty.
In summary a lovely property that we will happily return to in the future.

The cottage was cosy, clean and well appointed. The owners had left a lovely welcome basket of treats including wine. The location of the cottage was great for easy access to both beaches and Exmoor for exploring.

We had another relaxing and comfortable stay at Ford Hill Cottage. The weather in March was wet and cold so we were very glad to have the games room with it's pool table and football table. The wood burner was toasty and we enjoyed relaxing around it on the comfy lounge furniture. It was good to have an en-suite and another bathroom. The cottage is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and has all the things and more you need for a self catering break. The owners provide a very generous welcome pack along with coffee pods etc. We would highly recommend the cottage.

Ford Hill Cottage was perfect for our group, garden and games room a wonderful bonus. Lovely welcome from Janet was very much appreciated. Pristine inside, very comfortable. Parking a little awkward with a larger vehicle.

We thoroughly enjoyed a holiday at this wonderful cottage. We used it as a base for exploring the local beaches and places of interest. There is a lot to see!

The cottage itself is a little gem. It’s very well-equipped and very comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into the place and the owners have very high standards. We greatly appreciated the generous welcome basket of local goodies.

The cottage has a nice big garden with a lovely beech tree, and there is plenty of room for a child or two to run about.

There is a Games Room where we enjoyed a few games of pool. There is also table football and table tennis available. There a well-tuned piano and a large screen TV in the games room.

I stayed here with my 81 year old mother for a week. The cottage was well appointed and very clean which was lovely. It had everything we needed. Beds were comfy. The stairs were steep but my mother was fine on them because there is a good bannister.

All in all we had a lovely holiday at the cottage

Really lovely, comfortable cottage. Has been very thoughtfully equipped and its clear the owner has taken a lot of trouble to make sure it is comfortable for guests. Really comfy beds. Lovely garden with good outdoor seating. Great location for visiting numerous places. Games room was a wonderful amenity for our teenager. Had a great week and we will certainly visit again.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner, Janet, who was friendly and welcoming. She gave a brief overview of the facilities such as how to turn on the heating etc. The cottage is stunning and definitely has a wow factor as you walk inside. We discovered a wonderful welcome package of local treats such as bread, jams, cake and in the fridge was milk, butter and a bottle of fizz. A great way to start the holiday! The cottage was exceptionally clean with everything you could need to enjoy your stay (think fluffy towels and fragrant toiletries) Thoughtful touches such as the number of the local taxi firm were also appreciated. If you have mobility issues you might find it difficult as there are steep stairs up to the bedrooms and then little steps dotted about upstairs to the bathroom and bedrooms. (We found it quaint and extremely charming). My favourite part of the day was taking a cup of tea to the conservatory located beside the main bedroom to enjoy the morning sunshine. The thick cottage walls ensured a peaceful nights sleep. There was a large, mature garden and a fantastic games room with pool table, table football, piano, table tennis and giant TV screen which we made full use of one wet afternoon. I came home wanting to return immediately. It was a fantastic holiday THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Ford Hill Cottage is an absolute treat. It’s in a gorgeous spot in a beautiful part of Devon. It’s near enough to plenty of places to be convenient but it’s remote enough to be quiet and relaxing.
The building has been decorated to a very high standard and the owners have thought of everything. It’s so well equipped and they very kindly provide all basic essentials to start your stay. The welcome basket of treats is lovely and very generous too. No spoilers!
The games room is an added bonus and the garden is stunning and a great place to unwind.
I can’t say enough positive things about it and would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

We stayed at Ford Hill Cottage during March 2022 and were fortunate enough to have lovely Spring weather during our stay. We enjoyed being able to sit out on the terrace with coffee and biscuits -both were kindly included in the generous welcome pack. The gardens were full of daffodils with views to the surrounding countryside. We found the cottage to be convenient for days out at the coast and in the country and although not that far from the A39, it felt like miles away in outlook and peacefulness. Ford Hill Cottage has been furnished and maintained to a very high standard. The cottage had all the home comforts (& more!) that you need for your stay including twinkly fairy lights to make the lounge cosy, flowers in the dining room on arrival, wash powder for the washing machine, as well as supplies of wood for the log burner. The beds were very comfy and the shower good too. (Tip: if you like to sleep in a very dark room, take an eye mask as the master bedroom is triple aspect) We enjoyed pool and table football in the games room. It would be fantastic for older children/teenagers! There was nothing that we didn't like. Thank you for a super stay!

Amazing cottage. well presented, clean, with a good feeling of quality across the site. Perfect for our party of four adults, who also enjoyed the Games Room. We could see that this was a cottage that is perfect for a family, as well as a group of friends (as in our case). Very generous to see Nespresso coffee machine plus pods provided as well as a quality range of cookware that made meal prep a pleasure. We loved the area, walking into Coombe Martin and back on the first day. The hosts were very kind to us, in that we arrived in the area around lunch time, and were kindly allowed to enter the cottage, because it was ready, similarly when leaving, we were allowed extra time as there was not a following booking for a few days. Definitely recommended.

On arrival we where met by Janet, who very politely talked us through, all of the safety aspects, and how to run the Cottage during our stay.
On entering the kitchen we where overwhelmed with the size of the welcome basket, it was greatly appreciated.
The cottage met our expectations for the comfort and quality, It was home from home! which made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable.
The large games room would be fantastic for families, it would certainly keep the Childen entertained throughout there stay.
The area was beautiful with the added bonus of the weather, with visiting:-
Boscastle, Clovelly, Ilfracombe, Instow, Appldore, Lynton, Lynmouth, RHS Garden Rosemoor and Dunster Village and Castle, which where all beautiful places to visit, however, for us Dunster was our favorite, with its historical village, working Water Mill and the Castle gardens.
We will definitely be visiting Devon in the near future again!

We have just got back from a week at Ford Hill Cottage. The cottage is absolutely stunning with everything you could want. It has been beautifully decorated and is exceptionally clean. The area for barbecuing looks over the huge lawn and is a delightful place to eat an evening meal and chill out with a glass of wine after a day out. We decided to eat in every night as the weather was so fantastic and the cottage was kitted out with everything we could possibly need. Its location was perfect for us - in the middle of beautiful countryside with the sound of sheep and birdsong but near beaches and places to explore. We would definitely go back to the cottage again and wholeheartedly recommend it.

We found the cottage to be excellent.
One small point it would be helpful if there was a shelf in the en suite bathroom to put ones toiletries.
Apart from that small point all four of us enjoyed our stay and we will return.

We had a fantastic experience staying at Ford Hill Cottage. Everything was of high quality and very comfortable and the games room was a brilliant addition for all ages. We would highly recommend this venue to others - a tranquil location in easy reach of fabulous beaches.

Condition and cleanliness at Ford Hill Cottage has to be seen to be believed!
Cosy and welcoming in every respect with high end modern appliances throughout.
Location is ideal for exploring North Devon also the nearby Exmoor National Park.
Despite the cottage being a genuine rural retreat precise directions provided by the friendly host meant it was easy to find, really nice touches on arrival included a hamper of delicious treats!
There is a games room as well with a pool table much enjoyed by our sons.
Would absolutely recommend the cottage to anybody wanting to visit the area.

We had a lovely stay in Ford Hill Cottage. Communication from Janet was perfect, both before and during the stay. The cottage itself was perfect for us and was well stocked with all the kitchen utensils and things we might need. Having tea and milk there for when we arrived was a lifesaver. Recommendations for local places to eat were all spot on. Would highly recommend this cottage as a base for exploring Devon.

After searching the internet for a cottage we stumbled on this delightful cottage. It worked for all family members; giving the adults free time while the kids hung out in the games room if the weather wasn’t great. We even had a few family nights watching movies and playing games which was one of the things we were keen to do this holiday.
Although remote, it is 20 minutes or more from places you may like to visit and quiet in the evenings if you just want to relax. We all said we slept so well throughout our stay.
The property allowed us to completely relax. With everything to hand we were never left thinking we did not have everything we needed to make a good meal.

The only downside was what that my 6ft,3inch husband had to be careful going through a doorway and on the stairs but there were lots of signs up to remind us. Overall the owners seemed to think of everything that would give holiday makers a comfortable stay.

We would highly recommend this holiday to friends and family.

We do a lot of self catering and this cottage is our favourite. It's beautiful, clean, very quiet, extremely well equipped with top of the range items and comfortable. It's very well located - there are lots of places to visit within a 10-20 min drive. The owner's website is absolutely accurate in every way.

We have been to this property three times before and it never fails to please and the properrty has also been upgraded during this time.
It is a great place from which to visit the wonderful Exmoor and Coombe Martin, Ilfracombe, South Molton and Barnstaple. The last two are great places for shopping good quality local produce, as well as for supermarkets. There are also pubs and restaurants within a short driving distance.

We had never stayed in a cottage before so wasn’t sure what to expect, this cottage was however beyond our expectations.
We were met by Janet who showed us around and explained everything to us. We had a lovely welcome hamper which included wine and bowl of fruit. Kitchen had everything in you could want including coffee machine. Huge garden and barbecue area
The cottage was extremely clean and very homely. Everything was thought about, high quality sheets and towels, toiletries supplied, flowers in the dining room, kitchen extremely well equipped and lovely decor throughout. Travel cot and high chair supplied at no extra cost. Beds were extremely comfortable
Excellent games room and lots of board games and DVDs to keep everyone entertained. WiFi had an excellent signal but phone signal is poor.
Extremely comfortable for 6 people.
It is in a quiet village but very central to lots of great places

Our third stay and it fully lived up to expectations, also, luckily, with excellent weather. It is a great place to relax with the beautiful back garden for the afternoon and evening and the sheltered front for breakfast in the sun.

It's also in a wonderful position for trips to the magnificent Exmoor with its delightful scenery and magical coastline, and to lovely pubs for drinks or fine food.

The sea at Combe Martin is a short drive away and the market towns of Barnstaple and South Molton are within easy reach for food shopping and other requirements.

We hope to be back again.
