Cottages very clean, location excellent, hosts very welcoming. Party of 29 in four different houses. Swimming pool ideal size. Very central to the local attractions. Weather very good for the time of year. would come again.
The house is situated in a great spot in Braunton. The shops are just a few minutes walk, and there are plenty of pubs around too. The check in process is easy (keys in a lock box) and the procedure was well explained by the housekeeper prior to arrival. There is enough off-road parking for 5 or 6 cars, so parking wasn't an issue. We were a party of 11 adults and one baby. We all had loads of space and not once did anybody feel claustraphobic. All bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless when we got there, and towels etc all provided as described. The high-chair was missing but it took one...more
Very peaceful and beautiful location whilst at the same time being within easy reach of many places. Sean & Nick were excellent hosts, very helpful and with great attention to detail in what was provided. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Thank you for a wonderful week.
A great place to stay in a fab location. We enjoyed our stay here very much. The accommodation was so homely and a perfect base to explore and play in all this part of the world has to offer. The accommodation itself has a lovely feel and has everything you need. This with the added ease of booking and access made a perfect holiday for our family. Thank you
Comfortable well equipped cottage in a peaceful location. Duror cottage is perfectly situated within a short drive to all the stunning Devon coastal villages and beaches and makes a perfect base for exploring the area. The fishing lake on site is beautiful and well stocked with carp, rudd and roach and whilst we had no children with us, the play area provides a lovely space for children to run off steam. The Crown Inn is a short walk along the lane to the village serving delicious meals and is well worth a visit.
The warmest of welcomes, very clean and well equipped accommodation, pool and sauna were lovely. This cottage is very cosy, with only a couple steps leading to it and the rest on a flat level it’s ideal for those less mobile. Can’t wait to come again! Many thanks
A group of 4 of us (girls only) stayed here at the beginning of June and we really did have a fabulous time. The safari tent exceeded our expectations, the setting is beautiful and there is plenty of activities to do and places to visit in the surrounding area. Perfect place for a relaxing, girly weekend away or to spend quality time with family! 2 of us are planning on coming back next year!
This was our third year staying at Becky and John’s farm, we absolutely LOVE the location and the beautiful surroundings, the children love being able to run freely around with no worries of cars. You have everything you need (even board games for if the weather is not so good or for evenings on the decking area) we look forward to our long weekend here every year!!
Location exceptional. Sandwiched between Woolacombe, somewhere we adore, and picturesque Combe Martin. We would recommend bike hire on the Tarka Trail in Barnstaple and Sea Kayaking in Combe Martin. A walk along Woolacombe Beach to the lovely wee restaurant at Putsburgh Sands is well worth it as is a walk round Morte Point. Food wise, The Red Barn in Woolacombe is brilliant. Because we were out and about so much we didn't spend that much time in our accommodation. However, we were impressed by the cleanliness of The Shippin, the friendlieness of the staff and the excellent leisure facilities. ...more
A tranquil peaceful. Setting. In the Beautiful Devonshire countryside. Welcomed by the owner, the house was big enough to house our large Family. In all we had a very special weekend together of which we shall remember for a long time. Dorothy Joyner.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sunnycliffe House. Spotless, comfortable and homely. And beautiful views! Thank you!
An much needed break away with friends and the kids. We had such a warm welcome from Becky and John. The tent was immaculate and well-equipped with everything we needed (and much more). The kids loved feeding the animals and the pony rides on Saturday morning. The beds were very comfy. We had a lot of fun exploring the woodland and paddling in the stream. Then, a BBQ and camp fire, where the kids toasted marshmallow. We stocked up on food from the Sainsbury's at Ottery St Mary, only a short drive away. We would definitely recommend and hoping to come back in Autumn.
We were very happy with our stay a Devon Beach Court. It is a very pleasant and clean apartment with all the amenities that one could reasonably expect. The arrangements for gaining admission on arrival were clearly explained in advance and worked well. Excellent attention to detail from the housekeeper Jenny and some nice touches like a welcoming bottle of wine. The only slight downside was a little disturbance from the construction work taking place at a nearby property in Rockfield Road. This is causing the parking area to become either muddy or dusty depending on the weather, which al...more
wonderful property attached to Highbullen hotel which is great and has fantastic leisure facilities. The cottage is within the estate at the bottom of a very steep hill, but still overlooking the wonderful Devon scenery. you can drive up and down the hill to the tea rooms, leisure facilities and hotel but actually by the end of our weeks stay we were all considerably fitter than when we arrived! The a la carte restaurant is very good, the cellar bar is nice too but with a limited selection of bar snacks on offer. The Laura Ashley tea room has wonderful views, great staff and a good selecti...more
The warmest of welcomes, very clean and well equipped accommodation, pool and sauna were lovely. The barn is spacious and ideal for larger groups - one mention is that there are two wings to the barn for some of the bedrooms so take note when planning. Can’t wait to come again! Many thanks
Hi we found our stay wonderful cannot fault the cottages ! Staff pleasant and was more than willing to help out ! If we were ever in the area again we would surely return ! Thank you !
Everything was excellent and we enjoyed four days with sunny and warm weather. The only thing we could wish for was more comfortable patio furniture.
We have just returned from a long weekend at Cuckoo Down Farm. We had a wonderful time, the facilities were spot on, comfortable and clean. Our children (7 and 4) loved being able to play safely in the huge camping field and we all explored the woodland area together. The children experienced a pony ride, fed the chickens and met the lambs - all of which they loved. Becky and John were great hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed our first glamping experience and would highly recommend Cuckoo Down Farm.
We had a great time celebrating my mother’s 80th at Exmoor Farmhouse. The house is beautiful and flooded with light, every window displaying the most magical views of Exmoor. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and very well equipped. This really was a special place to have stayed and we all wished it could have been for longer.
Great place to stay. Friendly welcome. Fantastic garden and games room to play in. Lovely renovated cottage in excellent condition. Enjoyed by all.
This was a great place for our extended family. It’s on the Highbullen resort so there was something for everyone - golf tennis gym swimming etc. The house is comfortable and well equipped. It has good size bedrooms which all have bathrooms en-suite. The kitchen dining and lounge areas are all big so it is perfect for large family groups. We had a wonderful time.
We had a family vacation at the Stables over Easter. There was four families and we had plenty of room to have our own space as well as great spaces for us all to come together. The six bedrooms were excellent with most being en-suite. Nobody was unhappy with their rooms. The outside space was lovely with plenty of parking. The tennis court was great and we had our own version of Wimbledon. A great place to stay in an excellent location for visiting north Devon
This is the right place to relax, connect with nature and all the good energies arround you. Just let your soul be. We have seen lots of different birds from the the windows. The rooms are spacious and wellcoming. I‘d come back anytime, I liked it very much! Thank you
We had a wonderful time here for four nights. Eight of us who walk together came to enjoy North Devon and the house is in an excellent position to visit the North Devon coast at Braunton/Woolacombe/ Mortehoe. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed our stay at this cottage Owners lovely ,the cottage was of a very good standard. The cake and milk supplied was a nice bonus . Fishing ok but this time of the year please make sure you have bite cream with you
We were delighted to find Woodpecker Cottage. It is hard to find a small place to stay that allows 3 dogs. Most that do are much larger and bit too expensive for just two people needing one bedroom. It had everything we were looking for - rural, enclosed garden and plenty of walks while not being too far from a shop. The doggy file in the cottage was so helpful and allowed us to plan some days out. We have already recommended to a friend.
Lakeside cottage is reached by a long and winding country lane. The views are beautiful and there is a lake for fishing, our friend caught quite a few fish. Its very quiet and peaceful. There is also a well equipped play area for children set a short distance from the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and has all mod cons. The Crown Inn West Down is a 15 min walk away and offered very reasonable food. Braunton has lots of restaurants, our favourite was the French Corner Bistro. I would recommend Fliers taxi's if you don't want to drive. Very reliable. Ilfracombe tunnels worth a vis...more
Very happy with our stay. Nice swimming pool for the kids. Dog friendly with good walking areas. Area was fairly central. Near to main towns in North Devon. Would recommend and we would not hesitate in returning in the future.
Another wonderful stay at the farmhouse with my family. Friendly accomodating staff, travel cot, stair gates and high chair all provided. We had the dog with us, so having the garden was so convenient and how lovely to have a BBQ to cook on. Hope we can all go back again next year. Thank you very much. Pamela Ward.....Bracknell.
This was a near perfect property and location with gorgeous views for our family needs. Only small point about location was the distance to a surfing beach (eg Croyde, Woolacombe). Facilities on site were excellent with full access to swimming pool, complete with exercise classes, gym etc etc. Would definitely go again.
Biallid house is a beautiful, stately old manor type home. The house was comfortable and perfect for the family members of the bride and groom to spend a few days together before their wedding. It is conveniently located to the Cairngorms and surrounding areas. Jean, the housekeeper, is a beautiful soul and was pleasant to chat with.
This was a booking for a party of ladies to come and ride on the moor. The house worked well, was comfortable, clean, warm and of good quality. The only two issues were; 1. The wifi had no internet connection for the majority of the weekend and 2. (a very minor one) The wood for the burners was too fresh to burn well, another year and it would be perfect!
We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle to unplug for a few days and Bluebelle cottage was the perfect place to do it. Lovely walks on the doorstep, friendly people, beautiful surroundings and only an hour from the coast so we got to experience that too. Would recommend to any couple looking to get away and enjoy being together without the distractions of everyday life.
The house was perfect for the 6 of us, plenty of space. The location enabled us to walk to the beach, the pubs and the shop. The house was clean and tidy and we got excellent support when we had any queries or a problem.
A lovely cottage on a quiet site, with views over the countryside. The cottage was clean, well maintained, with everything you may need. There were extensive grounds to relax in. Having the swimming pool to myself was a bonus. The only negative is that you do need a car and drive everywhere, but we are already planning a return visit.
Plenty of space and everything needed for a comfortable holiday. Good swimming pool. Disappointing for the golfers in our group that golf course was closed for most of our stay due to wet weather. They were able to play elsewhere nearby. Helpful staff.
Beautiful place with plenty space for the kids to run around, lovely Yurt with all the things you need.
- very fine stay in the very nice location - 3 remarks : - - - once the WiFi came on its performance was very poor - not workable - - - a cooker hood above the cooker in the citchen would be an advantage as now the fire alarm was activated regularly - - - more pans and pots would great as it the actual set will not be sufficient when cooking for 10 people
We were a family of 6 adults , 1 child and 1 infant and we found the accommodation excellent. The property is clean and tidy with everything you need and good sized rooms. There is one en-suite , a large family bathroom and a separate WC. There is a good sized garden , fully enclosed for dogs and a barbecue is provided. The location is excellent with a shortcut to the beach along a short level path.
We booked here as it is near friends in the area and my 8 year old was excited about the fishing. (Sadly the weather was horrid, so no fishing was done.) We arrived very late after first visiting with our friends and only after entering did we realise we forgot milk for our morning coffee. On a whim, my husband looked in the fridge and saw a small container of milk - what a wonderful and very welcoming extra! The owners also left a box of biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar! The cottage was well appointed, had a comfortable bed and a nice "homey" feel about it. The owners were very welcoming and r...more
This annexe has much to offer, 2 spacious ensuite bedrooms, one with a lovely view. A cosy living room with traditional features of stone and beams though one needs to be standing to see through the window. We were a little disappointed by the kitchen however which is dated and awkward to use being rather narrow and the sink tucked into a corner. It just didn't quite live up to the expectations we had from web site.
Overall we were impressed with the property. Location is as great. However A few things like lawn not being mowed, no access round the back to the garden and cracked bath panel let it down a little
This is our third visit to “The Shippen “ and we love the beautiful little gem tucked away, it’s got everything you need for a relaxing holiday including a very handy Alexa added since our last stay, we’ve been staying in Fowey for many years and you won’t find better!! Just my opinion of course!
Lower Leys cottage is an excellent place to stay in a beautiful setting. It was clean, well equipped with plenty of hot water - although it was a bit too hot at times and I would worry about that if there were children in the property. We would also have liked a small airer to dry the washing we did not wish to tumble dry. Apart from those small niggles we really enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day. Thank you for the welcome pack.
A practical and is larger than normal accommodation, that suited 3 families well. Ideal for family holidays with good access to local beaches. However, beware of the weaver fish at low tide in the soft sand.
The location of the cottages is in an incredibly pretty rural spot, quiet but not too isolated, there is an excellent pub nearby that does proper good food and is within easy walking distance; also Ilfracombe and Braunton are just a few miles away, both excellent places for cafes, restaurants and bars. There is an amazing amount of space and an adventure playground for children to let off steam and a well stocked fishing lake, all beautifully maintained. We stayed in Braefoot cottage and it was just ideal. A very clean, comfortable, tastefully furnished and well equipped property with...more
We had a lovely restful holiday, which is what we both really needed after after my husband spent two months in hospital earlier in the year. The apartment was nice, with great views. Bathroom & kitchen refurbed which were great, new carpets throughout, great patio & furniture and small garden for the dogs. We would stay again, but we have some recommendations to make it more enjoyable. The lounge and bedrooms “really” need updating, new modern furniture in all of them. Two couches would be great. New window coverings. New beds with better quality mattresses. Option for a summer duvet...more
Although the cottage has potential to be very nice, the place seems to be neglected. The furniture was shabby, and not as the pictures in the website, there were several lights not working and no replacement bulbs, the oven was dirty, only two wine glasses for four people (and three flutes), one of the tumblers had a large crack in it, the outside furniture and the barbeque were rusty and unusable, the icebox lid in the refrigerator was broken, the small bedroom not suitable for a double, and when we tried to use both showers at the same time they both became unusable. There were other issues,...more
