The warmest of welcomes, very clean and well equipped accommodation, pool and sauna were lovely. This cottage is very cosy, with only a couple steps leading to it and the rest on a flat level it’s ideal for those less mobile. Can’t wait to come again! Many thanks
We booked Coast View as a last minute alternative to our planned camping trip and we loved it! 4 adults with 4 children aged 6 and under, the house was just perfect to accommodate us all comfortably (and with one room to spare). Fantastic light, airy and well appointed living area along with kitchen and dining room space ensured everyone had their own space during our week long stay. Bedrooms were all well decorated and comfy - the front bedroom has a fabulous view of the bay, perfect for a quiet morning cuppa while the kids were (still!) asleep. The children loved the games room at th...more
The house is situated in a great spot in Braunton. The shops are just a few minutes walk, and there are plenty of pubs around too. The check in process is easy (keys in a lock box) and the procedure was well explained by the housekeeper prior to arrival. There is enough off-road parking for 5 or 6 cars, so parking wasn't an issue. We were a party of 11 adults and one baby. We all had loads of space and not once did anybody feel claustraphobic. All bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless when we got there, and towels etc all provided as described. The high-chair was missing but it took one...more
Two adults six kids ages 7,11,13,14,14. We all had a fabulous thine staying with Jim and Wendy, fab hosts and always there if we needed anything. Lovely cottage for a nice rural stay, fitted us all in more than comfortable, everything you need for a week away. Kids loved the garden to play hide and seek. Nothing was any trouble and we got an amazing first hand close up of Jim and his sheepdog rounding up the sheep. Highly recommend staying here, loads of activities on the doorstep.
Our cottage was comfortable and clean. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, the gardens were pretty and the swimming pool was warm. The sauna which was on a timer worked too and I really enjoyed it. We would have liked the pool to be open till 8p.m. rather than 7pm as with such lovely weather we didn't get back in time on some evenings to use it. Although it feels as if you are off the beaten track there is a good road network and a lot of places of interest nearby. We would recommend this cottage.
We had a lovely time in this beautiful farmhouse, everything you needed there just like home from home.
This was ideal for a first foray into camping with our 3-year old, and our first glamping experience. THe place was of excellent quality, very clean, and comfortable. There were so many thoughtful touches too around the place, and just generally we all had an excellent time. My son (3) adored exploring, and we could enjoy the safety, peace and quiet, and hassle-free camping. We've been talking about when to go back.
We absolutely loved our stay on Cuckoo Down Farm at the end of the summer. Our safari tent was warm, cosy and comfortable, set in this idyllic location. Taking in the beautiful countryside, watching the swallows dart around the field, barbecuing as the sun was setting and spending time as a family around our campfire, watching the stars come out, was all very special. The farm is also really handy for the breathtaking Jurassic Coast where much fun was had by my three teens!
Thank you so much for having us the Shippen cottage. A really enjoyable and relaxing holiday was had by all. Nero (the old Staffie) spent most of the time relaxing by the front door of the cottage and we were and we made good use of your indoor swimming pool on the couple of rainy days that we had. Our toddler was particularly delighted to find so many toys to play with in the pool. The short drive to the supermarket in Ilfracombe made it easy for us to stock up on supplies. We will be back!
A tranquil peaceful. Setting. In the Beautiful Devonshire countryside. Welcomed by the owner, the house was big enough to house our large Family. In all we had a very special weekend together of which we shall remember for a long time. Dorothy Joyner.
Can’t recommend Wheel Farm highly enough. Fantastic venue a real home from home. Spotless accommodation with brilliant pool and sauna facilities. Huge thank you to Richard for coming to our rescue when we forgot matches for the birthday cake lol. Hoping to return in the near future to explore more of the surrounding area and Wheel Farm would definitely be our 1st choice of accommodation. A*
wonderful property attached to Highbullen hotel which is great and has fantastic leisure facilities. The cottage is within the estate at the bottom of a very steep hill, but still overlooking the wonderful Devon scenery. you can drive up and down the hill to the tea rooms, leisure facilities and hotel but actually by the end of our weeks stay we were all considerably fitter than when we arrived! The a la carte restaurant is very good, the cellar bar is nice too but with a limited selection of bar snacks on offer. The Laura Ashley tea room has wonderful views, great staff and a good selecti...more
Hi we found our stay wonderful cannot fault the cottages ! Staff pleasant and was more than willing to help out ! If we were ever in the area again we would surely return ! Thank you !
This was our second stay at Cuckoo Down and we are already talking about coming back next year. The tents are comfortable, prettily decorated and well equipped and the setting is beautiful. We went with friends and I’m sure our children will remember forever the hours they spent playing in the woods and in the stream with a sense of freedom that is rare in the modern world.
We had never stayed in a cottage before so wasn’t sure what to expect, this cottage was however beyond our expectations. We were met by Janet who showed us around and explained everything to us. We had a lovely welcome hamper which included wine and bowl of fruit. Kitchen had everything in you could want including coffee machine. Huge garden and barbecue area The cottage was extremely clean and very homely. Everything was thought about, high quality sheets and towels, toiletries supplied, flowers in the dining room, kitchen extremely well equipped and lovely decor throughout. Travel cot an...more
The photos don't lie! It is a set in a great location with stunning views from the deck and rear windows. I loved waking up and being able to see the sea from my bed. The house is clean, well maintained and equipped with everything you're likely to need for a family holiday. The older children in our group loved the xbox and the younger ones had huge fun running up and down the sloping garden! Everyone thought the outside shower a great idea but we did have trouble getting two year old twins out of it..... This was our first three generational holiday and the house certainly helped to m...more
We had a wonderful stay at the cottages with our new puppy. Ali and family were amazingly helpful but not overbearing. The cottage was clean, tidy and had everything you would need for a long weekend. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back soon.
We have just spent a fantastic week on Exmoor staying at the wonderful Exmoor Farmhouse. It's a super house for a large group (we were 12 across 3 generations) with a beautiful view across Withypool and the moor. The house has loads of space and many rooms including a dining room that more than coped with 15 of us on one evening, a large kitchen breakfast room and a living room which also comfortably accommodated all of us for games and quizzes. Some of the decor in the house is amazing, there are books and artwork everywhere and it is clearly a much loved family home when not being used by gu...more
Lovely location, handy for the coast. Hosts were there if you needed them. Accommodation very good value.
Lovely cottage with outstanding views of Exmoor from the garden. Very rural location but central for exploring Exmoor National Park. Very dog and horse friendly - hope to return with equines next time! Made to feel very welcome by Phillipa and Neil.
Very peaceful holiday at Sunnycliffe with everything you need to make it a perfect break away. The views are amazing and waking up every morning to the stunning setting was so lovely. The property is comfortable and airy with great balconies to enjoy the sun and that glass of wine!
Would recommend good place to completely unwind. Not too far from two.very good pubs and places to visit
The setting is perfect (and the twice we’ve stayed, the weather has been gorgeous, so we feel very fortunate). The space between tents is ideal - allowing children in our family group to play/wander and non of us to feel on top of each other. Each safari tent is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. There are some nice touches - handwash, toiletries in the shower etc but a curtain/screen in the toilet would have been appreciated and a key/lock on the shower (we used the key from the toilet lock). We would recommend Cuckoo Down Farm.
Stoke up the fire, let the kids run wild and relax. Very good facilities, nearby beaches are great and wonderful hosts. Will be back for sure.
A lovely base for walking, beaches, visiting NT properties and for Lundy. Comfy beds and plenty of space.
You can’t beat the location of this apartment. Right opposite a great beach. Walking distance to town and great restaurants. We are on the beach most evenings. Housekeeper made some great local recommendations and even welcomed us with a Devon cream tea.
This farm house is just great for a family holiday. The accommodation is well maintained clean and welcoming. The fresh eggs that were in the kitchen was a lovely surprise and delicious too. The location is Just perfect for seeing the fantastic Devonshire countryside and local attractions. Hope to visit again in the future. All the family just loved it.
A fabulous house/cottage for a family holiday. Something for everyone - golf, swimming, tennis, various dining options should you choose to have time away from the kitchen. We are no strangers to High Bullen and will continue to return.
We had a lovely time, the yurt was perfect, clean and spacious and had everything we needed, they even provided toys for the kids. The kitchen was well equipped and there are lot of really lovely places to visit nearby. The kids loved the pony ride and feeding the farm animals too. Becky was very welcoming and helpful and ensured our stay was great. Thank You
The children enjoyed the ‘park’ with the play equipment and we appreciated the lovely gardens. Clarity about washing lines and a better freezer would have been appreciated. Also more mugs and proper cereal bowls. Sound did travel upstairs very easily to the corridor because of the gap along the wall due to the method of construction of the first floor. Brilliant location!
Great property for family get away. Location wonderful for exploring North Devon, then back for a round of tennis whilst dinner cooking. Our children (all in their 30's) really enjoyed it.
We had an amazing week in Nuide Farmhouse, highlight being climbing Ben Macdui. The house is very spacious and the large garden with its beautiful view of the mountains was especially appreciated. The owner was very helpful, posting us some things we left behind. Only criticism was that despite there being four bathrooms there is only one shower. Would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants a peaceful holiday in the Highlands.
We were delighted to find Woodpecker Cottage. It is hard to find a small place to stay that allows 3 dogs. Most that do are much larger and bit too expensive for just two people needing one bedroom. It had everything we were looking for - rural, enclosed garden and plenty of walks while not being too far from a shop. The doggy file in the cottage was so helpful and allowed us to plan some days out. We have already recommended to a friend.
Lakeside cottage is reached by a long and winding country lane. The views are beautiful and there is a lake for fishing, our friend caught quite a few fish. Its very quiet and peaceful. There is also a well equipped play area for children set a short distance from the cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and has all mod cons. The Crown Inn West Down is a 15 min walk away and offered very reasonable food. Braunton has lots of restaurants, our favourite was the French Corner Bistro. I would recommend Fliers taxi's if you don't want to drive. Very reliable. Ilfracombe tunnels worth a vis...more
Enjoyed our stay at this cottage Owners lovely ,the cottage was of a very good standard. The cake and milk supplied was a nice bonus . Fishing ok but this time of the year please make sure you have bite cream with you
We were a family of 6 adults and 4 children (5-10 yrs). We booked Braunton Farmhouse via My Favourite Cottages. Their service was good and the agent was generally very responsive. Now about Braunton Farmhouse... a large, old farmhouse that was simply idyllic. The accommodation was excellent - very comfortable and beautifully decorated and furnished. All necessary services were provided. The setting was incredible and so quiet! Having come from the “City” the children loved the space, the freedom to run around and explore, and to play games on the extensive lawns. Views from the house and clos...more
Ideal house for a week of reunion of 4 families - 15 of us in all. Lovely welcome from Jean; very comfortable spacious house and good grounds at front for dog and children to play. Quiet off road location with superb views. Everything we needed for catering for the group was provided and shopping was easy with well stocked Coop in the village. Plenty of room in the house to spread around and very comfortable beds. Loads of baths / WCs; two over bath electric showers. Masses of hot water from a very efficient heating system. Location excellent for local walks or for reaching water sports at Loc...more
A brilliant holiday for three families and a dog. We had a wonderful time. The self-catering facilities in Fairways West even allowed for celebratory cooking and provided plenty of space and privacy for all generations. There is plenty of entertainment at Highbullen for both adults and children with golf, croquet, walking, outdoor swimming etc. Even on the day when it rained there was indoor swimming, the sport simulator and even a fabulous Devon afternoon tea. The childrens' afternoon tea, presented in little secret drawers, was magical and really thrilled the little ones. There is so m...more
The house was perfect for the 6 of us, plenty of space. The location enabled us to walk to the beach, the pubs and the shop. The house was clean and tidy and we got excellent support when we had any queries or a problem.
A lovely cottage on a quiet site, with views over the countryside. The cottage was clean, well maintained, with everything you may need. There were extensive grounds to relax in. Having the swimming pool to myself was a bonus. The only negative is that you do need a car and drive everywhere, but we are already planning a return visit.
This was a booking for a party of ladies to come and ride on the moor. The house worked well, was comfortable, clean, warm and of good quality. The only two issues were; 1. The wifi had no internet connection for the majority of the weekend and 2. (a very minor one) The wood for the burners was too fresh to burn well, another year and it would be perfect!
We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle to unplug for a few days and Bluebelle cottage was the perfect place to do it. Lovely walks on the doorstep, friendly people, beautiful surroundings and only an hour from the coast so we got to experience that too. Would recommend to any couple looking to get away and enjoy being together without the distractions of everyday life.
Had a relaxing stay at Duror cottage lovely grounds, we did fishing in the lake, large area for children to play, peaceful close to woolacombe once we got our directions, weather was good for us. All in all a great stay friendly neighbours in the other cottages and we had the opportunity to see the deers early in the morning.
Brilliant weekend. Cottage really comfortable beds brilliant Really well stocked Brilliant for family reunions Lovely will stay again.
We recently stayed for a week with our dog. The cottage is all on one level and have a secure garden so we didn't have to worry about the dog getting out. Its positioned overlooking a small field and is lovely and quiet as no one passes by. Its about a 15 minute walk to the center of Fowey, you have a choice via the road or via St Catherine parade which is a beautiful walk. The cottage was clean and had lots of extra bits and bobs to make your stay comfortable, we particularly liked the Alexa. We would suggest you bring a tin opener as we were missing one and our mushy peas didn't have ...more
We have stayed in a previous cottage with my favourite cottages last year but this one was in the most wonderful position.on the beach straight across the road, the most lovely position for breakfast and evening drinks. A quaint grade 11 listed cottage which doesn’t loose its era but is comfortable and clean .we would highly recommend it . The top apartment is quite steep stairs for elderly but there is a very ingenious lift. Easy access to westward ho but Instow has a good beach and has been left alone to be natural
The photos do not do justice to this house, it was far more spacious and comfortable than we expected. The kitchen was really well equipped and it had a very useful utility area and a nice big porch with a rack for boots. The open views from the sitting room and kitchen and the garden views in the master bedroom were lovely. The Isle of Skye and charming mainland villages like Applecross and Plockton are an easy drive away. We had a very memorable holiday full of walks, waterfalls and beautiful rainbows. The wildlife in the garden was a bonus.
We booked here as it is near friends in the area and my 8 year old was excited about the fishing. (Sadly the weather was horrid, so no fishing was done.) We arrived very late after first visiting with our friends and only after entering did we realise we forgot milk for our morning coffee. On a whim, my husband looked in the fridge and saw a small container of milk - what a wonderful and very welcoming extra! The owners also left a box of biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar! The cottage was well appointed, had a comfortable bed and a nice "homey" feel about it. The owners were very welcoming and r...more
This annexe has much to offer, 2 spacious ensuite bedrooms, one with a lovely view. A cosy living room with traditional features of stone and beams though one needs to be standing to see through the window. We were a little disappointed by the kitchen however which is dated and awkward to use being rather narrow and the sink tucked into a corner. It just didn't quite live up to the expectations we had from web site.
We had a lovely week staying at Stag Lodge on the Glencarron and Glenuaig estate. We were lucky to have had some rain so the water levels were excellent for fishing on the river and we were very well looked after by the ghillie, Eric, and his wife, Cathy. The lodge was clean and comfortable and brilliantly positioned to enjoy the estate and local area.
Overall we were impressed with the property. Location is as great. However A few things like lawn not being mowed, no access round the back to the garden and cracked bath panel let it down a little
crooked lake cottage is a cosy wonderful home from home with a large well kept garden which attracts a wide range of wildlife. the cottage was built in the 17th century, as such there are low beams and doors so care must be taken. there is good wi-fi & the tv picture was fine whilst we were there. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of bedding and the kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for a great holiday. All in all a fantastic holiday cottage with a large garden in a peaceful part of north devon
We stayed for a week at Lower Leys and had a great time. House was well equipped, nicely furnished and comfortable. Great position with lots to do on the moor and further afield towards the coast. We were graced with good weather but I think entertaining the children in bad weather would have been much more tricky. 2 small things would improve the cottage further...a clothes airer so you don't have to use the tumble drier and the sofa was not the most comfortable but apart from that ...Thank you!
Fantastic location, great facilities Lovely property with everything you need in it. Had a really lovely holiday. Weather certainly helped.
Lovely cottage, well kitted out. Kids loved the pool. Great location. Looking at the next date to stay.
A very relaxing cottage with large comfy sofa, large dinning room table, piano and Aga. The garden and outside space with views across the valley is excellent to enjoy during the day or evening, and with the outside seating and BBQ area it's a great GnT spot. The utility rooms fridge freezer, along with the second smaller fridge in the kitchen means you can stock up and enjoy the cottage, or take a short drive in to Barnstaple or Saunton Sands. Downstairs bathroom useful as it's close to the garden. Bedrooms and upstairs bathroom are all well prepared and the master bedroom has a huge bed, w...more
We were very happy with the location of the cottage.Lovely and quiet but right near the shops and amenities.Just a couple of things, egg cups would have been useful. The step outside the back door is very steep,so I found that a bit difficult as I have arthritis.I think young children would fall easily---maybe worth putting another step there. The welcome pack was a nice touch! My husband and I ended up in a double bed each as we are both tall and had more room.
