The Linhay cottage at Wheel Farm, was a perfect base for our family holiday, a fantastic location, very high standard of accommodation, set on lovely grounds, with a wonderful indoor pool on site. The owners made us feel very welcomed and we will be returning next year. Many thanks.
Although The Shippen is not the largest of holiday cottages, it was perfectly comfortable for our needs and great value for money. It was quiet and private, and there is plenty of space in the grounds for social distancing from other families. The booking system to allow social distancing in the pool was fair, and we loved being able to have the whole pool to ourselves.
Me and my family had a fabulous week at the wheel cottage farm. We will definitely be revisiting! Such a lovely place and lovely people!
Lots to do, hotel was very accommodating visited Barnstaple, Westward Ho and Lynmouth! +Tennis/golf
We were lucky to get this booking following a cancellation and enjoyed our week there. The location is excellent, overlooking the beach and the town. Whilst there are 4 rentals on the same property, we had no problems with parking or with even generally seeing the other guests. Once inside, everything was clean and well kept, with everything we needed. The barbecue and hot tub certainly saw some use as we relaxed watching the sunset. We would happily stay again if we return to the area. Finally, the service from the team and the correspondence was excellent making everything run very smoothly.
After searching the internet for a cottage we stumbled on this delightful cottage. It worked for all family members; giving the adults free time while the kids hung out in the games room if the weather wasn’t great. We even had a few family nights watching movies and playing games which was one of the things we were keen to do this holiday. Although remote, it is 20 minutes or more from places you may like to visit and quiet in the evenings if you just want to relax. We all said we slept so well throughout our stay. The property allowed us to completely relax. With everything to hand we wer...more
At long last our long awaited holiday, booked in Sept 2019, arrived. We were disappointed to loose 3 hours off our holiady due to covid restrictions. The directions given were accurate and we arrived more or less together. Parking was tight but we had 3 cars. Lot of steps up to the house but got used to these throughout the week. Inside was spacious and airy with all good appliances in the kitchen and laundry room. Should say the door lining of the microwave has a fault that needs action. The bedrooms were as advertised and comfortable though the top floor was very hot even with the windows ...more
Lovely house, lots of room, very helpful owners. We made good use of the hot tub even in the rain. Thanks for the yummy flapjacks. All the flavours were good, but Chocolate orange was a favorite.
We had a wonderful 2 week stay at Springfield Linney. Great spot, easy to get to all the local beaches even in August. The highlight of the cottage is it’s spectacular views and the hot tub. We all enjoyed our evenings watching sunsets, bats, owls and other animals from the tub. Even Dexter our dog loved the large garden and watching the cows and sheep in the neighbouring fields. Throughly recommend to all
Beautiful house, set in a peaceful location. Great facilities and some really nice welcoming touches provided. Hot tub topped it off nicely.
The cottage was lovely Alli and Richard were very friendly and Helpful. Easy to find and central to lots of Places to visit. Loved it and would recommend,100%.
We adored our stay at Kittiwake. It is perfectly located with a fantastic outdoor space and ‘secret’ garden beyond, brilliant for the children and dog to run about. The house way exceeded our expectations with a wonderfully large and comfortable living area and an enviably kitted out kitchen. My only comment is that our bed was pretty uncomfortable. We slept in the end double (by the attic stairs). However after swapping the mattress with the middle double bed it was better but the pillows and duvet were weirdly lumpy! Overall a fantastic house
We stayed as 3 separate families in Hayloft, The Dairy and The Shippen. Ideal for the children and dogs as lots of space in the grounds to roam around. Made use of swimming pool every day and enjoyed a few barbecues. Allison was very friendly and helpful. We all really enjoyed ourselves after all the uncertainty of covid. Lovely area.
we had a lovely week with our family. the children loved exploring the grounds. barbecues were handy for family get togethers. the adults enjoyed playing tennis. location made it easy to get to beaches and walks. clean and comfortable accomodation. thank you to richard and alli for being so welcoming.
We have just spent a fantastic week on Exmoor staying at the wonderful Exmoor Farmhouse. It's a super house for a large group (we were 12 across 3 generations) with a beautiful view across Withypool and the moor. The house has loads of space and many rooms including a dining room that more than coped with 15 of us on one evening, a large kitchen breakfast room and a living room which also comfortably accommodated all of us for games and quizzes. Some of the decor in the house is amazing, there are books and artwork everywhere and it is clearly a much loved family home when not being used by gu...more
A very well equipt cottage, extremely comfortable with fabulous views across the valley. It is so peaceful and is an ideal location for RHS Rosemoor and for coastal path walking. Two miles away The Cranford Inn is a must as the food presented is was way above normal pub food standard and reasonably priced. We will definitely being going back.
We stayed for a week in July with family in other cottages at wheel farm. A beautiful setting with plenty of outside space for walking the dog & having bar b q’s etc. The swimming pool was a real bonus, especially on the odd rainy day & the booking system worked really well. The cottage was compact but well equipped & cosy, if a little dark. We found it to be spotlessly clean & felt very safe there with regards to the current pandemic! Love this part of the world & cant wait to stay again!
Had a lovely stay in the main farmhouse, 12 extended family for 40th birthday. The house is very well equipped and Cathy was very helpful. Highly recommend Higher Mullacott Farm, great location for exploring North Devon.
We enjoyed a fabulous weeks family holiday in this lovely farmhouse. The location is perfect for exploring local beaches, Ilfracombe, Croyde, Saunton, Woolacombe, and Combe Martin beaches provided plenty of entertainment for the children and the indoor pool was an added bonus. We were delighted that it was still available and the Covid restrictions made this a safe and entertaining facility for the entire group. By booking a specific time per property we were able to enjoy exclusive use for an hour which was lovely for the babies in our party - the inflatables were great fun, so a big 'thank y...more
Positives- Beautiful cottage- spacious in a stunning quiet setting. Enough space for family of 5. Everything one needed was provided. Caretaker left a few welcome essentials - lovely touch Beautiful garden with stream Negatives- low ceilIngs downstairs- not ideal for under 6 feet - my son kept forgetting to duck. If making calls important - no signal. So not able to use mobile for making bookings. WiFi was available. Needed good airing and possibly curtains washed as musty smell. Electro heaters probably need replacing as dials too stiff - and not working at all in win bedroom. If windows op...more
We had a lovely time at Nuide House. The house was spacious yet cosy and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. The bottles of Prosecco on arrival were particularly well appreciated! Thanks for everything!
We had an excellent stay in dolly’s barn, beautiful house and grounds. Location on busy road so would be unsuitable to walk or cycle anywhere nearby. Owners of the house on site who were very friendly and welcoming. The grounds for children are fantastic. My favourite cottages a third party agent who we booked through weren’t the most helpful and I felt like a burden if I had any questions so wouldn’t recommend using them. Go direct if you can.
Perfect holiday home with everything you need in the perfect location for Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. The Devon cream tea to welcome was the perfect start to our holiday.
lovely cottage, lovely countryside, great location, and lovely owners, they were very helpful. Very good place for the dogs with an on site field to run in.
We loved the location of the cottages and grounds and beautiful lake. However the downside to Blare Cottage is that there was no view from any window and it was quite dark downstairs. Good for short stay and ideally located for the wonderful beaches that are not far away In a car and the surrounding countryside. But disappointing because of positioning of Blare Cottage.
Our stay at Seaglass Cottage was excellent. So clean and had everything we needed. The beds were so comfortable can not vault anything.Everything is to a high standard and the hot tub was used everyday. The temperature in the hot tub was very hot on our first night but I messaged Sarah and it was sorted first thing the next day could not of asked for more. Sarah was very helpful during our lovely stay. The cottage is a 10 / 15 minutes walk into town for shops restaurants and beach front. Lovely beaches to visit around Westward Ho. I would definitely recommend and I shall definitely be booking ...more
Accommodation is very spacious and was perfect for dog lovers and golfers alike. Will definitely return.
Have styed here on several occasions, the views are stunning. Cottage has always offered a great deal, this year we found some changes. A new multifuel burner has been installed in the lounge, which is super efficient. This is an ideal location for those who want to explore or simply want a place of peace and quiet.
Beautiful house in a stunning location really peaceful with a very relaxing atmosphere. A very friendly welcome from Jean who shared some of her knowledge about the house and the village with us. Hope to return in the future
Enjoyed our stay at this cottage Owners lovely ,the cottage was of a very good standard. The cake and milk supplied was a nice bonus . Fishing ok but this time of the year please make sure you have bite cream with you
Myself and partner stayed in Upper Mill for 7 nights in September 2020. After a long few months, we needed a well deserved break and this cottage did not disappoint. Plenty of room for the 2 of us with all the basics for cooking and feeling at home that you’d need. Information before your stay is very well received and works well. We would definitely stay at Wheel Farm again.
The apartment is very clean & is equipped with all the appliances/utensils you’d expect. All cleaning products are provided & extras like toiletries was nice. We loved the cream tea provided on arrival! The location is fantastic as just across the road from the Beach. However the best thing about the property is the large shared terrace with the amazing views out to sea. All in all a lovely little place.
Lovely cottage in great location, very spacious With all facilities available. Also takes dogs too. We enjoyed it
Lovely clean house in the perfect location. The weather wasn’t great but couldn’t stop looking at that view. Have booked for next year.
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
Really nice cottage, has everything that you need for a comfortable stay, the owners are very friendly and helpful. Its a great spot if you love the countryside and its got a nice fishing lake, they have recently added a large deck area by the stream which is a nice touch. Well placed for travel to the local coast line.
This was a last minute booking for us and what a gem it was to find. Stunning surroundings, so peaceful, the play area was open and was perfect for my 7 and 8 year olds. Just 15 minutes to Woolacombe, plenty to do in the area. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Would recommend.
We had a lovely stay at Kittiwake cottage, the cottage was the perfect size for us (2 adults, 2 children) and in a fantastic location. The cottage was very clean on arrival and off road parking is a bonus. Well equipped kitchen which had everything we needed and having two bathrooms was great. Our children (5 and 2) loved the big garden to play in and there is a river at the end of the garden (very fast running so be aware!). The location is great, Braunton was great, we ate in At One and SQ. Takeaway fish and chips from Squires (order online) fantastic - we had it twice! Visited ...more
Nice house but was a half hour drive to go anywhere. The house was clean by the bathrooms could do with some tidying up (flaking paint in downstairs bathroom and uopstaira bath is very old and can’t be cleaned). Excellent kitchen facilities but photos are misleading - much smaller than expected. The staff accommodation was near the property and we were kept awake a couple of nights due to late night noise. There was also a man (we believe to be a meme we of staff) who had a nasty cough - he had a daily coughing session every minding on the balcony which wasn’t very pleasant to wake up to. W...more
The house was a wonderful spacious haven during the Covid crisis. Really well equipped with a gorgeous garden.
It was absolutely brilliant - everything we wanted it to be for our sons first holiday. Can’t wait to come back!
we stayed at seascape at the end of August. The weather ( Storm Ellen and Francis ) was challenging and we were not able to make use of the outside space or decking but made the best of things. thankfully the internal space and light interior and excellent facilities helped mitigate the worst the British Summer could throw at us. ( ps please if possible could you email us the make of the mattress in the master bedroom as particularly comfortable )
The cottage was clean and comfortable not sure if because of covid 19 there was little in the way for us to clean the property during the week, ie. no hoover provided and only a broken brush and pan for brushing the floors. No plug for using in the kitchen sink and no washing up bowl so that made things a little difficult. Very little in the way of cooking utensils, ie. no carving knives, peeling knives or any cooker tray in which to prepare/cook our Sunday lunch. The neighbours were very welcoming and helpful and leant us their knives for the week. Cottage is in a wonderful position w...more
The cottage offers lots of space which we really appreciated being a family group of 8 with a dog. The conservatory overlooking the first green on the golf course was superb. We weren't able to use the facilities in the hotel as we weren't there for long and found they were already booked. If we return, we'll book in advance to avoid disappointment. The location of the cottage is superb in the sense that it is situated in lovely parkland. The flip side is that any off-site activity may involve a bit of a drive; but if you want to stay put and enjoy the hotel facilities and the beautiful sur...more
Northleigh House was absolutely brilliant. We visited during the covid times, and had been warned that not all facilities would be available (eg. no board games, no pool table, no table tennis) but it didn't matter one bit. The house has so many great spaces within it that we had plenty of room to spread out and occupy ourselves. And the grounds are beautiful, and there's a proper coal BBQ that we used. Because of COVID travel restrictions we were only 2 children and 3 adults in the house as the rest of the party could not come. But the house clearly could handle many more people. We...more
We enjoyed our stay at Lower Leys Cottage very much. It is a wonderful location, very quiet with fabulous views. On arrival we found the cottage very clean and tidy and there was nice bedding and soft towels. The bedrooms are a good size and the downstairs has a good cosy feel. Our children loved saying hello to the horses and sheep on the farm. It is a good base to explore the surrounding area and we would recommend this property. The only drawbacks are slow broadband and no phone / 4g coverage.
Brilliant cottage, a lovely set-up at the farm, the facilities were really well managed due to coronavirus and keeping all guests on a rota for the swimming pool. The owners were always available on site during the day for any problems, the communal lawns and gardens came in very handy for meeting up with family, we had a very enjoyable holiday and would recommend it to anyone. The Sullivans.
This was our 2nd stay at Oyster Cove and already thinking about our 3rd stay! It had everything we needed ( apart from the weather this time). Lovely having extra beds for our family to join us for a few nights. Garden was great size and caught the sun in the morning by the decking outside the living room and then in the evening by the bbq area. Perfect location only 10 min walk to beach along quiet lanes avoiding the main road.
Property was nice. But there was hundreds of flies. Needed electric fly zappers. The lawn to tennis court had not been mown. But Thursday the day before we left someone came to mow it. Also felt we lost 3 hours as we couldn’t get in till 5 . And had to be out by 9 which I was told was because house had to be left empty which I can understand under present circumstances we had to strip beds which we always do but normally have extra hour. The cleaner arrived at 9. We had to pay same. I don’t think it would take 8 hours to clean. So only had 6 days instead of 6.5
We enjoyed our stay and the cottage served its purpose - of providing comfortable accommodation near Woolacombe. The furnishings were comfortable and attractive, we liked the living room furniture. But, the double bed, while comfortable enough, is quite flimsy and shaky. The only real problem was the shower attachment, which is unreliable; switching from hot to cold and changing pressure on a whim (bearing no relationship to other use of water within the cottage). I'd really recommend that you install a proper, self-heating shower, as the inadequate shower does let this cottage down. ...more
This annexe has much to offer, 2 spacious ensuite bedrooms, one with a lovely view. A cosy living room with traditional features of stone and beams though one needs to be standing to see through the window. We were a little disappointed by the kitchen however which is dated and awkward to use being rather narrow and the sink tucked into a corner. It just didn't quite live up to the expectations we had from web site.
Lovely property in a great location with amazing views overt the estuary. The owners were very helpful and knowledgeable. Easy walking distance to the Beach House and Instow Arms.
We had a great week at Magnolia View Cottage. It is beautiful both inside and out, very well equipped and perfectly located to access all the best places to visit in North Devon. It is clean and spacious. We would highly recommend.
Our only criticism was the mattress and felt like it was further from the village pub than stated. Fish in lake easier to catch!!!!
10 of us (6 plus 4 kids) enjoyed family holiday in this well equipped house. Garden was great too. Wi-intermittently working. No facility for recycling waste. Contrary to advice there is no facility at nearby Morrisons (Newquay) and no facility for collection. We ended up going to the council recycling centre. I am sure some guests would resort to putting in the general waste. For these reasons would say 8 out of 10.
Great location for exploring both Devon & Dorset. To reach the cottage you have to tackle a very narrow lane which can be tricky. We chose the cottage as it allowed dogs. The cottage is very pretty with a lovely garden, rooms are spacious although kitchen could be bigger. The only disappointment were the bathrooms, there was only one shower however it wasn’t fit for purpose, we couldn’t get it to work properly, even after contacting the owners it still didn’t work (no pressure & ran cold) there were two large baths, however the water would only run hot for approximately a minute, not good wh...more
Not an easy review to give. The "Poor" reviews on location and value for money would probably have been "OK" under normal circumstances, but under effective lockdown both location and value for money were not great. Flowing on from that as everything was shut except for Tesco's that took a 2.5 hour round trip, the condition was not good enough in the really wet weather. It really does need decent broadband and/or satellite TV to entertain teenagers; it cost a fortune for a mobile 4G hotspot. The TV also needs updating as you need to work it from the back rather via a remote control. Upsta...more
