We had an amazing weekend away in The old Piggery. Converted to a great standard, very warm and cosy. The downstairs bedroom with en-suite accessible wet room was great for my Mother in Law , while we had a lovely bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It was well laid out and easy to manoeuvre around with a walker. You could be in Barnstaple within 10/15 mins which had great shopping and other amenities available. Finding Homemade scones, Jam, and cream on the table, upon arrival was a wonderful start to our stay. We would recommend The Old Piggery for a relaxing stay.
Our first visit to Courtyard Cottage. We were met by our host Mark & Mika who extended to us the warmest and friendliest “meet and greet” every experienced arriving at a holiday cottage. Though only about 10 minutes from Barnstable, Courtyard Cottage offers a secluded and peaceful location with fantastic views over Barnstable. The cottage is extremely well equipped to a very high standard, from the comfy beds, very good quality towels and linen, beautiful ensuite shower rooms and comfortable lounge furniture. The cottage was extremely well presented and immaculately clean. During ou...more
Had a lovely relaxing break, well equipped for everything we needed for our stay, Highly recommend as Shaun and Kath are great hosts. We plan on returning for another holiday in the future
Just returned from spending 7nts at the Shippon, absolutely beautiful accommodation. Coral the owner maintains a very high standard of cleanliness. Kitchen was spacious, well appointed and the welcoming/starter supplies (including the wine) were appreciated. Much use of the cosy outside sitting area and hot tub was made. Highly recommended.
We’ve stayed at Seaweed Cottage many times, yet when you walk through the door it feels like we’re the first ever visitors. The cottage is immaculate and cozy. It’s the small details that make us feel special: chocolates on the bed, bubbles in the fridge, and a yummy homemade Swedish chocolate cake. We were there to celebrate Christmas with family. So it was nice to have a decorated Christmas tree & holiday decor throughout the B & B. We would recommend Seaweed cottage to all our friends and family.
We thoroughly enjoyed a holiday at this wonderful cottage. We used it as a base for exploring the local beaches and places of interest. There is a lot to see! The cottage itself is a little gem. It’s very well-equipped and very comfortable. A lot of thought has gone into the place and the owners have very high standards. We greatly appreciated the generous welcome basket of local goodies. The cottage has a nice big garden with a lovely beech tree, and there is plenty of room for a child or two to run about. There is a Games Room where we enjoyed a few games of pool. There is als...more
Having just spent xmas and new year at parkview farmhouse with my wife 4 kids and the inlaws i definitely can not speak highly enough about the place, the house is very spacious comfortable and has all the mod cons you could possibly need, the location is beautiful and just a short distance away from amazing beeches shops pubs and restaurants, i would 100% rebook this place. Many thanks to the owners Chris and Family
A fabulous house which is remote but easy to find. Its perfect for the Lydford Gorge. Clean, comfortable and has everything you would need. Wifi is patchy (it works in the front bedroom, the hallway and one living room) and there is little phone signal so its worth planning around that. But it was lovely not to be slaves to technology for a long weekend. The welcome was friendly. The outside space is incredible. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic week away staying at the hen house- great apartment, amazing location and hot tub
We stayed at Sea Glass cottage, Westward Ho! The accommodation was excellent for two adult couples. The location suited us very well with the beach being in walking distance via the golf course. We found plenty of interesting places to visit in the area.
We had such a relaxing time at Springfield Linney. We loved the cottage. The main living area is open and spacious with stunning views and the garden is perfect for dogs. Highly recommended!
Lovely quiet location. Spacious with plenty of storage for our possessions. Nice selection of provisions left for us on arrival.
Thoroughly recommend this holiday cottage; it was super clean, very quiet, had everything you could possibly need and although it is located behind the main house it had its own terrace to enjoy the stunning views. The spiral stairs are a consideration prior to booking but this is highlighted in the information provided. My husband and I managed fine and these added to the general quirkiness of the cottage. Lynton and the surrounding villages, combined with such stunning coastal scenery offers so much. We had a fabulous week, enjoyed the many walks so didn't need to use the car very m...more
The cottage was really cosy and had everything you needed, with a great parking place and within walking distance of Fowey. There was an occasional dog hair, but otherwise could not fault the cleanliness. The Christmas decorations were a lovely surprise and added to the cosiness. It’s the first cottage I’ve been to though, that had no form of welcome pack.
We had a lovely stay at Goodleigh Cottage and would be very happy to return there again. The location was just a few miles from Barnstable, ideal to pop into town but giving you that secluded location feel. My boys loved the upside-down layout with comfortable beds, a lovely open-plan lounge and a kitchen which had brilliant appliances. The location is perfect for a visit to the amazing beaches nearby and other attractions. A lovely welcome gift on arrival just topped off the visit.
8 Devon Beach Court is excellent, clean, comfortable and well presented accommodation just a short and pleasant walk from the centre of Woolacombe. This was our fourth visit and we plan to go again next year. The first thing we do every morning is go onto the balcony to look at and listen to the sea. Breakfast at the Beachcomber cafe is a must as is walking on Woolacombe beach. We enjoyed our welcome gift and the freebies. We highly recommend DBC. Thank you Jenny and Beth for your continuing hard work and attention to detail.
The farmhouse was a good size with 5 bedrooms to easily sleep 10 people plus baby in a cot. Beds very comfortable but ground floor bedroom was a bit damp on external walls. Kitchen was great for family breakfasts and meals for all of us. The only problem for me as a tall person was the height of the door openings on the ground floor which obviously could not be helped. The garden area was a great size for the children to play in. Check out at 9am a bit of a rush. 10am would be better. Great location for local beaches, horse riding and wildlife park
Arrived to a beautiful house lovely and clean and warm and very well episode. We Loved the space and the views were exceptional. Very festive with a Christmas tree and lights. Used the hot tub everyday which was cleaned daily. Would highly recommend and are returning next Christmas. Thank you.
Would highly recommend. Lovely cottage. Large, comfortable, very well equipped. A good centre for everything around. Photos don't really do it justice. The view up the loch, surrounded by fantastic mountains was wonderful. Unfortunately, we didn't see much wildlife from the windows, probably wrong time of the year.
Lovely property ideal for a family break away, and ideal location with town centre and beaches only a short drive away. Great play area for the children. House had everything you needed to cook/prepare family meals and all utensils were of a high quality. Would have no hesitation in booking a repeat visit.
We have had a lovely week at Higher Mullacot, staying in Aggie's Cottage. The cottage was spotless, warm and cosy and overall, had a good range of amenities to meet our needs. The location was good and we had access to a range of activities throughout the N.Devon coast. The bedrooms were lovely and cosy and the kitchen and living room were really well equipped. The wider grounds were amazing for the children, who loved playing on the play facilities and with the bits and pieces left in the shed to borrow. It's a lovely cottage on a lovely site. We do have a few suggestions though, which wou...more
This was our second stay at Gitcombe. The cottages and facilities are fantastic, all set amidst a heavenly location. Our only criticism were the beds in Maristow - they were very uncomfortable.
Exmoor Farmhouse was just what we wanted, a beautiful location and amazing house with room for all the family to spread out comfortably. Fantastic views and places nearby to enjoy the wonderful countryside. The younger members of the family really enjoyed the games room. We had a wonderful week. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home.
We spent the week over New Year at The Tallet with our large family and had a wonderful holiday. Shawn and Kath were very kind and helpful and everything went smoothly. There was plenty of space for us to spend this special time together and the holiday was hugely enjoyed by our youngest and oldest family members. The accommodation was ideal for our needs and all the rooms were tastefully furnished and very comfortable. We would definitely return should the opportunity arise. Many thanks Shawn and Kath.
Extremely comfortable farmhouse outside Newtonmore. Central location ideal for exploring the Cairngorms and Highlands. Will certainly return here in the future.
We loved High Bullen and would certainly return. It is excellent for family holidays with grandparents, children and grandchildren - lots to do to keep everyone happy. Staff were friendly and helpful, the swimming pool was wonderful - very clean and a perfect temperature. Tennis courts, golf and snooker were enjoyed by everyone in the family. Very few negatives, but personally we found the uphill trek from Deer View cottage to be a bit steep for grandparents. We would book Fairway East/West another time. The golf course was fun for holiday golf but the trolleys were not good - buggies wer...more
We enjoyed our stay. The place is fine for two people and nicely organised and decorated. It was clean and comfortable and in a good location. Very quiet but not far from sea, and easy connections to popular places. Hosts were friendly and welcoming.
Cottage well prepared with cream tea left for our arrival and milk in the fridge. Rural location but it is on a busy road. Lovely pub in Parkham which does great home cooked food.
Wonderful country home with plenty of space and great facilities.Perfect for large family holidays. Good location close to local town and a short drive to the beach.
Our second stay. You could spend all day just taking in the amazing views. The sunsets can be beautiful too.The side balcony is my favourite place to sit! The house itself is well equipped and very comfortable including the beds. You have to mention the fact that to get the views, you have to go up, and the drive and slope to the steps could be hard work. We are not the fittest but we manage okay with a few puffs!! We always use the garage which is ok for a small, narrower car but there's room for you and the neighbours on the drive with a bit of manoeuvring. But believe me it's worth it ...more
A lovely place to stay, and at only 8 hours notice, a really good service. Everything was clean tidy comfortable cosy and just what we wanted. Only ? I had was how to deal with rubbish as each council seems to have a different collection policy, and it was not clear. This is easily rectified.
The house was amazing and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. There are a few things broken or requiring maintenance with the house. Also after visiting doctors both my children have come out in a ‘hot tub rash’. Meaning bacteria in the hot tub and we all were skeptical getting in as it looked merky. All outdoor cushions were covered in spiders and dirt. But really lovely house apart from the aftermath from the uncleaned hot tub.
From arrival to departure we had a great time, the house keeper Jean is a true great and will assist you mostly anything you need , or leave you in peace what ever you want, she is a font of knowledge about the house and local and far areas, we were a party of 11 and there was more than enough space for us all to have all the space we needed, all in a great house area and holiday,
A wonderful time was had by all. The house was clean & with enough space that nobody felt on top of each other. The only small niggle was lack of small items that you wouldn’t think of packing for a holiday, Such as oven gloves & bin bags, nothing major but trying to remove hot dishes without getting burnt was a problem.
Unfortunately can not review Stable Cottage as this was not in use after we initially booked. We were kept informed of changes and family were put into alternative accommodation. Although this was perfectly adequate they were in separate rooms and did miss out on a communal area to sit and relax and obviously no self catering facilities.
Sunset Beach is a fairly well equipped property within walking distance of Croyde Beach. The property has an upside down configuration with significantly more floor space on the ground floor bedroom level than on the first floor kitchen living area which made the space feel confined with 8 people. Access to the rear garden was through the downstairs bedrooms and this reduced our use of the lovely garden and terrace facilities. The property is set back from the road and is very quiet with lovely views from the front and rear windows. A good base to explore the local beaches and surround...more
We had a lovely week, the weather was unexpectedly warm and plenty of walks on the beach. Lovely pubs and food nearby.
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
The cottage is lovely and warm with great views. The electric AGA is a real bonus. Plenty of hot water. Super beaches within 10 minutes drive.
The cottage is in a nice quiet location. As it’s an old property it is quite dark inside. There were a few crockery shortages which we noted. Great field for the dog to run in. Good location to get around Probably would not want to stay longer than a week.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, looking to rebook. Quiet location but with village pub, shop and tearoom nearby. Cannot fault for comfort and equipment. Excellent centre for walking and exploring Exmoor. Our two dogs also liked their holiday
Lovely garden in a peaceful location. While the cottage was functional, it was tired and need of updating.
No local shops around, no delivery option from Dominos, Pizza HUT, Papa Johns or local pizza shops. Difficult for vegetarians.
Perfect location, lovely house and a great week. The cottage was the perfect base for all of our activities with 4 kids. (The Big Sheep/ Watermouth Castle/ Tintagel plus huge beaches; Saunton Sands/ Crowe Point/ Greysands Beach) It was clean, the beds were very comfortable and it usefully had 2 toilets. It was very well set up for the 2 families that made up the 6 of us. Local pubs and restaurants were very good too. The local deli was expensive but Aldi only 10 minutes away. Would definitely go back.
We had a wonderful week at Kittiwake Cottage - although we were spoilt with the beautiful sunny weather all week... The cottage itself is really well presented and has everything you need for a family of 4 (+ dog!). The kitchen in particular was really well stocked and provided a lot more than I would expect from a holiday cottage of this size. It was great that each room had its own bathroom and they were really beautifully presented - the only issue is that if we had both showers running at the same time, the pressure really dropped. The bedrooms were really nicely done, although the mattres...more
The place was very clean and tidy. It was easy to find from the instructions and the car parking is very close to the house. There was plenty of cutlery and crockery and it was all clean - there was a dishwasher advertised, but only one dishwasher tablet was left and no washing up liquid. Apart from this, we found everything that we needed in the kitchen. There was a washing machine malfunction during our stay (though we didn't use it) and the owner could not have been more helpful when I rang him to report this. We found the beds, the sofas, the bench seats and the wooden church chai...more
A most enjoyable stay for all the family. Spacious, clean & warm accommodation with full kitchen facilities. Hot tub & nearby sports facilities were great. Staff very helpful. Only downside was the remote location & some small roads were in bad condition....Sat nav did get us into a few tricky situations made worse by heavy rains on a couple of the days ( but it was November!! ). Otherwise a great weeks stay.
Loved our stay! Cottage was perfect for our needs. Exmoor was gloriously awash with autumn colour. Many thanks for all
The property is fantastic 2 minute walk from beach, shops and pubs, very clean and tidy with everything you need The garden is brilliant for dogs
The cottage/barn conversion is a very well equipped and comfortable. The layout is good with a nice large dining table that we could comfortably sit around of an evening. The gardens were kept well and was a nice area to sit out in and for the dogs to play. The location is great, far enough away from Barnstaple to be quiet and secluded it also close enough to easily collect groceries etc. The area surrounding The Byre is beautiful and I strongly recommend the walk through to Two Rivers along the track directly below the cottage. My only criticism would be the pillows in the bedroom were far...more
Perfect place to stay if interested in visiting both - isle of skye as well as inverness/ben nevis range Nice comfortable cottage with all basic necessities
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
