Overall we were very happy with our week at Nuide House.
It is not walking distance into Newtonmore but easy access out to the main road for visiting everywhere by car.
The furnishings are a little tired but comfortable and I would have liked a bigger kitchen but it worked well for our family.

Good points: the house was large and in a secluded location. The appliances (cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine were all new and of high quality. So too were the kitchen utensils. The beds were clean and comfortable.

Points that could be improved: there was a broken window in the shower room and some of the walls had holes in them. The downstairs toilet did not flush unless you removed the lid from the cistern and manually flushed it. There was a huge cobweb in the en-suite bathroom to Bedroom 1. The towels were frayed and could do with being replaced.

Major problem: we had booked the house because it had wi-fi and I knew I needed to do some work whilst I was staying there. When I tried to log on to the network I got an error message. I contacted the owners who advised that the wi-fi had not been working the previous week and the previous guests had "moaned" about it. I explained that I needed to do work for the Friday which necessitated wi-fi. It was suggested I go to the nearby cafe. With no further contact from the owners and a continuing absence of any wi-fi we had no choice but to return home early; we left on the Thursday instead of the Saturday. I sent a message to the owners at approximately 1445 to advise we had had to leave because of the lack of wi-fi. I received a reply approximately 2 hours later to advise that it had been fixed at approximately 1400.

It was a lovely house to stay in. Beautifully appointed, very spacious for all activities and well positioned. We loved it. And My Favourite Cottages was very helpful with the booking.

This property has lots of room and potential, but hasn't been kept up to the standard that one would expect for the rental cost. The good news is that if the owners want to, they are easy to fix...
The property needs a sign on the gate post and over the house door - we weren't sure if we'd found the right place when we arrived.
We had been told the keys would be in the door but they weren't, so there was a delay whilst we found how to get the keys.
There was no hot water and it took us a while to figure out where the system was and how to turn it on. I would expect that this would have been done prior to our arrival and instructions would be provided.
There's a dishwasher and washing machine, but powder/tablets hadn't been provided for either.
There was no additional toilet roll provided, so we ran out after a couple of days into a 10 day stay.
There were cobwebs next to the wash basin in one bedroom.
The sofas are ancient and need replacing (okay, that one is more expensive). There's tons of seating in the living room but its all really uncomfortable because it's so old and broken.
There was no welcome pack - pretty standard anywhere you stay but oddly missing here, so no info on the surrounding area/emergency doctors and all that kind of thing. What there was were stern notices about outdated covid requirements and requirements when leaving the property at the end of the stay.
Expecting people to exit by 9am _and_ strip the beds, run rubbish to the end of the road etc. etc. isn't realistic.
Fantastic location, really nice garden with great outdoor furniture and barbecue.



Wonderful base for hill-walking week

Nuide House was a wonderful base for our week of hill-walking in May 2023. The house was comfortable and warm and there was plenty of space to relax in the evenings for our group of 8. The beds provided very good sleeping and there was plenty of hot water. The kitchen was functional and met all our needs. There was ample car parking for our 4 cars and a useful outside shed for bike storage. We liked the round table.
In terms of hill-walking the house is very well situated with lots of Munros and Corbetts in the surrounding area. Newtonmore has an excellent Co-op which is open long hours every day of the week and also a petrol station apart from other shops and hotels. We ate out one evening at the McInnes Hotel in Kingussie. Very good meal but they had problems getting our drinks right.
Overall an excellent week.

Extremely comfortable farmhouse outside Newtonmore. Central location ideal for exploring the Cairngorms and Highlands.
Will certainly return here in the future.

Nuide Farmhouse is the perfect base for a summer stay in the Cairngorms - it is ideally located a short drive from Aviemore and also down to the southern highlands. The property is surrounded by beautiful hills and the River Spey is only a few minutes walk from the bottom of the garden.

The house itself is huge and provides fantastic accommodation for a large family, with a large living room, dining room and relaxed breakfast room. The property is furnished and decorated very tastefully and hits just the right balance with being comfortable and not overly formal.

This was our second time at Nuide and we will be back, especially if the owners can fix the weather!

We are just home from a wonderful holiday staying at Nuide farmhouse. The house was just what we needed - plentiful space & comfortable. We immediately felt relaxed and it was a great location to do all the activities we had planned. The owners were very helpful throughout our stay and we hope to return soon.

We loved the spaciousness of the house and garden; also the aspect of the garden looking towards more distant hills.
And the picnic bench outside which we were able to use.
In the house the extra living room and dining room were useful and we did use them.
Kitchen and bathroom facilities good.
Settees in lounge could have been more comfortable.
In the general area lots to do and we availed ourselves of those at Loch Morlich and Loch Insh. Folk Museum also had lots of interest.
Having to leave at 9am because of covid meant I forgot to retrieve phone charger; initially I was told policy was no belongings returned,
but when I offered to send stamped addressed envelope for return, this was grudgingly accepted.



A cosy, comfortable house in a fantastic location and perfect for a family holiday.

We had a lovely time at Nuide House. The house was spacious yet cosy and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. The bottles of Prosecco on arrival were particularly well appreciated!

We had an amazing week in Nuide Farmhouse, highlight being climbing Ben Macdui. The house is very spacious and the large garden with its beautiful view of the mountains was especially appreciated. The owner was very helpful, posting us some things we left behind. Only criticism was that despite there being four bathrooms there is only one shower. Would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants a peaceful holiday in the Highlands.

- very fine stay in the very nice location
- 3 remarks :
- - - once the WiFi came on its performance was very poor - not workable
- - - a cooker hood above the cooker in the citchen would be an advantage as now the fire alarm was activated regularly
- - - more pans and pots would great as it the actual set will not be sufficient when cooking for 10 people

Nuide House is a lovely property in a peaceful location. There were no real issues with anything other than the kitchen was probably not equipped for a party of 10. There are plenty of plates/dishes but not enough mugs (a lot of them had chips in!) There was not enough pans to cook for 10 either!
Other than that it was a pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable stay.
