The cottage was very clean and well stocked with cleaning materials. The kitchen has everything you need. The place is cosy and welcoming. The narrow road to the cottage is typical of Devon lanes so care is needed. A small friendly shop in the small town. A short drive to a large Tesco where you can stock up.
The mattress in the main bedroom is appalling and must be changed. I slept terribly! The Wi-fi is intermittent bear this in mind if it is an integral part of your stay.

Janine and staff and did a great job of ensuring that our stay was safe and enjoyable. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to visit many different coastal places and towns as we walked many sections of the SW Coast Path. We were able to complete from Combe Martin to Instow over 5 days and 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay at Aylescott.

Served its purpose well. Nice cushions.

We enjoyed our stay and the cottage served its purpose - of providing comfortable accommodation near Woolacombe.

The furnishings were comfortable and attractive, we liked the living room furniture. But, the double bed, while comfortable enough, is quite flimsy and shaky.

The only real problem was the shower attachment, which is unreliable; switching from hot to cold and changing pressure on a whim (bearing no relationship to other use of water within the cottage). I'd really recommend that you install a proper, self-heating shower, as the inadequate shower does let this cottage down.

The play area was good; sturdy and new looking and our daughter enjoyed playing there. We liked having the outdoor space available to stroll or sit in (unfortunately the weather was against us most days).

We usually enjoy reading the visitor book and saying hello to resident owners but understand that things were unusual this year, because of Covid.

Little extras mean a lot

We booked here as it is near friends in the area and my 8 year old was excited about the fishing. (Sadly the weather was horrid, so no fishing was done.) We arrived very late after first visiting with our friends and only after entering did we realise we forgot milk for our morning coffee. On a whim, my husband looked in the fridge and saw a small container of milk - what a wonderful and very welcoming extra! The owners also left a box of biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar! The cottage was well appointed, had a comfortable bed and a nice "homey" feel about it. The owners were very welcoming and responsive to all our questions, our late arrival and any concerns we had. I would not hesitate to book again and highly recommend it.
