Nestled high in the eastern foothills of the Campsie Fells with views eastward towards the Ochil Hills, lies East Kelt Farm Cottage.

The original 1735 butt-and-ben Scottish cottage has been extensively renovated with all the latest conveniences and was joined to an adjacent granary to provide a high-quality barn conversion.

The magnificent lounge and kitchen feature restored stone walls and joinery made from local hardwoods. Most of the furniture was handcrafted by the owner's Father. East Kelt Farm Cottage is the ideal base for exploring the beautiful Stirlingshire countryside and is within easy reach of both Edinburgh and Glasgow. The property has a south-facing sheltered suntrap garden overlooking the woods and countryside. East Kelt Farm Cottage is the ideal base for exploring the Carron Valley, Stirlingshire, and the Ochil foothills.

Secluded and private, you really can escape to the unspoilt Stirlingshire countryside for a relaxing Scottish Farmhouse break. Only a 30-minute to the busy cities of Edinburgh or Glasgow, yet you are a world away in terms of tranquillity and relaxation

Lovely cottage, but a bit neglected

The location is lovely and the cottage spacious. We did receive a call from Carole just after we arrived to check we'd settled in.
However, for the amount we paid, I was a bit surprised to find a full, if clean, dishwasher to empty on arrival. Some of the kitchen equipment, bins were broken or had seen better days. The dishwasher tablets had obviously got wet at some point and left in a congealed mess. Whilst there were online instructions, there was nothing to explain the sky box or how to adjust the heating as the cottage was a little cold. The sofa and chairs in the lounge sank almost to the floor.
It's the first place I've been where we had to strip the beds and the promised laundry bags were not available.
If some things were replaced or updated it would have been better. I messaged on leaving, but received no acknowledgement.
The location is great for lots of sightseeing or just relaxing away from it all.

As you walk up to the front door a hidden courtyard garden and a great view reveals itself. A great spot for a BBQ. Inside the cottage there is plenty of space with all the necessary facilities. It is a good location to explore Edinburgh, Glasgow, Loch Lomond and we even made it to Loch Ness! Thanks for great holiday.
