we have been here twice before and is ideal as we have a dog. The cabin was very clean and comfortable with all mod cons. The shower and bathroom are a little tired and need some TLC and perhaps new shower.

Lodges and ground do not look like online photos the whole place is very very very run down as soon as we entered lodge the smell hit us it was dog wee used whole can of air freshener but it made no difference holidays are supposed to be stress free this was not the case here in our confirmation email it clearly states balance will be taken automatically this is not true we were hounded for payment whilst there by wardens knocking on door and texting one text at 6 50 am saying we needed to pay the site and lodge is the worst place we have stayed at will deffo not return here

Lovely, lovely place to stay. The lodge (Ash 6) was just how we like it and pet friendly. The views are magnificent and plenty of walks for us take with the dogs. The booking in, payment and instructions for arriving and check-in were first rate and delivered by very friendly and polite staff which rates to some of the very best we have received when visiting Scotland. They should be very pleased with all they have done for us to make our stay one to remember and we cannot thank them enough for the extra help they provided via telephone or text enquiry. Truly magnificent and thoroughly enjoyable and without question recommended

Well located close to Oban but secluded and quiet for a relaxing holiday. Our second time there, although 10 years on from first visit. Book Mull ferry in advance to make sure you have a place. Went on a Seafari trip from Easdale, saw seals, puffins, porpoise and even a whale, Iona was lovely, great day out. Lodge was well equipped and the view from veranda was beautiful. Good walks from lodge as well across the hills.

Everything about our stay at Lagnakeil in October was excellent from arriving late at night to leaving very early in the morning the owners did everything they could to make it an enjoyable, hassle free visit. The cabin was warm, comfortable (especially the beds) and well equipped with everything that we needed. A place I would consider returning to.

Lodge in need of 'sprucing up'. Outside area not clean. Inside was ok but sink not clean and sticky marks on fridge door. Bedside lamps, but no sockets to plug them in. Owners not in site. The site looks 'very tired'. I would not recommend this site.

Have visited the lodges many times but they are now very tired looking. A long trek from parking area to door in this lodge and no patio but still the same price as the others. WiFi was useless and we had to ask for the password despite it being included. There was no one at reception and the bell was obviously broken. All in all the site is looking very run down and hopefully work will be carried out to upgrade the lodges and the site as soon as possible.

Loved our stay at Lagnakeil. The lodges are very well equipped. Like a home from home. My only slight negative would be the shower. It’s not very powerful but still does the job. The view from Ash 6 is stunning. I would definitely return and recommend.
Kilbride church (on the road in, on the left) is also worth a visit. Liam will tell you wonderful (some recent and sad) stories. He may even sing for you! It’s a very interesting little church.

Everything has a touch of professionalism to it - from management, to any possible queries while staying, and to cleanliness. It is far above your usual cottage or country inn service. I say that as a contractor spending 100+ nights a year in hotels.

The cottages are not "luxury" in a sense of 5 star hotel suite, but they really have anything you need, the pictures and floorplans are true to reality, and I would still book it at double the actual price. Cottages are smartly positioned and bordered by shrubs so you always have privacy and great views.

The whole valley is serene, and Oban is 9-10 minute drive.

We stayed here for two nights, and throughly enjoyed our time at Lagnakeil Highland Lodges! The owners were very hospitable and were there to help and answer our questions ... we had forgotten to pick up salt and matches from the Tesco in town and they very kindly lent us some for our stay. The location is beautiful, and feels quite remote but is only about a 10 minute drive from Oban train station. As we were traveling without a car, we depended on taxis to get to and from Oban and never had an issue calling one of the local taxi companies to come pick us up.
The ldoge was a perfect size for four people, and the kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/dishes, but be sure to bring cooking essentials with you (or pick them up in town!) if you're planning on cooking. Overall, we had a wonderful time and are looking forward to our next stay at Lagnakeil Highland Lodges :)

We've stayed at LagnaKeil and known various owners over many years and it's a great place to stay. It's a wooden chalet so not The Balmoral but everything worked, was clean on entry and of course, the location is fabulous. You DO need a car to make the most of the surrounding areas but in walking distance, if you're the moderate hiking type are some gorgeous places, including places where "Ring of Bright Water" was filmed.

The local bar at The Barn is not open much at the moment - the people who run it have been hit badly by COVID and are moving on so it's not quite the busy social magnet it was but the food we had was very good and service excellent.

If you like a stay away from towns and have a car (a taxi would be expensive) then this is a great place and if you are sharing the cost then it's good value.

We needed a break & were happy to support Scottish businesses so we looked forward to our stay.
The site was clean & tidy in a nice location with numerous chalets of different sizes. Parking was at times tight & for some, not close to their building. Our chalet was well equipped but in need of an upgrade with stained furniture, a broken wardrobe & an air of sadness. On-site maintenance staff were pleasant & helpful but the office marked ‘Reception’ was never manned. Instructions about water heating & meter reading were incorrect & confusing. We could not get the site’s internet connection to work so used an unreliable 4G signal instead.
We dealt with these issues & enjoyed our stay, accepting that the pandemic has made life difficult for rental organisations & the site is too remote for decent broadband. However...............

An item accidentally left in our lodge when we left was confirmed found & return promised at our expense. When it did not arrive after several weeks & phone calls, messages & emails went unanswered we were finally told, quite aggressively, to stop ‘harassing’ management as they did not have our property, never had it & they were going to ‘block’ us.
First it was found then it was not found? There might be a simple explanation for this but we are left with questions & a bad feeling. Not a good way to deal with the situation or encourage repeat business.

We visited as a family of three (2 adults and 1 child and a dog). We've been to Lagnakeil before, as a couple, back in 2003, and had fond memories of the site. It hasn't changed much. It's in a great location, nice and quiet with beautiful scenery. The lodge we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The furniture is a little old but we're not too bothered about that. It added to the charm. Two things could be improved. Firstly, the games room could do with being updated because at the moment it's little more than a pool table and some toddler toys. Secondly, we had a little mouse in our kitchen cupboard, scratching around at the back when we turned the lights down at night. We live out in the country so we know this is to be expected, especially in winter months and we were quite amused by him but I know not every guest will feel the same. We really enjoyed our stay and our son loved the playground. It was like a little tranquil oasis in a world that is currently filled with chaos. We would love to go back.

Cosy, peaceful, beautiful scenery - everything we were looking for. The lodge was simple but very well equipped.

We loved sitting outside on the deck and enjoying the stunning view.

Also had a superb meal at 'The Barn' which is just a ten minute walk away.

We booked this last minute for a few days away. Firstly, the location is excellent for exploring Oban and the surrounding area. The view from the site is beautiful and there is a good play park for children. The site felt safe enough to let older children explore on their own.
We stayed in a Beech lodge and it is basic and in need of updating. The lodge was clean enough but the carpet was threadbare in places.
For the price I had expected more.
My parents stayed in an Ash lodge and that looked more modern, as if it had been done up recently.
If the price was lower I would consider staying again. I would recommend the lodges due to location and view but they either need updating, or for the price to be lowered.

This is our 5th visit to the lodges and everyone loves them. You are left to do your own thing and no-one bothers you. Oban is only 5mins away in car and there is plenty of local walks and sites to see. The lodges are clean and comfortable for using as a base and getting your head down at night.

Location is amazing. Communications on booking were spot on but on arrival we had been reallocated another lodge but had not been notified. Parking is frustrating more than an issue, depending which lodge you stay in. The lodge itself was well laid out, but the interior does need some TLC, a bit shabby and worn, wooden surfaces were sticky. The sofa had seen better days and not great to relax on after hours of walking.
Overall a lovely place with great facilities, a bit of sprucing up would make a difference.

The accomodation, customer service and contact with our host was great. Unfortunately, due to covid-19, we didn't have a chance to meet each other in person but I hope it will happen in the future. First time visiting Oban and the people are friendly and the area is beautiful and peaceful outside the main town.
The lodges are about 1 plus mile off main road well signed so easy to find. When you arrive the first thing you notice is the peace and quiet with the exception of the odd baa from the sheep near by.
Lodge itself was extremely clean with a few added extras incase you forget things (like and wash and washing up liquid!).
Plates/glasses etc were all freshly washed awaiting your arrival in the dish washer. Beds and linen were clean and freshly made. The bed was very comfy and we all had great nights sleep.
There is decking area with picnic table also.
There is a little park on site with some swings and some toys laid out for kids. There is a games room however we did not visit.
There is an excellent pub/restaurant just off site at another set of Lodges (the Barn) the food was delicious and would recommend this place (booking ahead probably recommended easily done through Facebook page).
Over all enjoyed out weekend and it was a much deserved break away from the norm.

Has a lovely stay. We felt that the furniture was tired and needed replaced. A new carpet is also required. A larger tv would be good too and the outside table needs replaced. Some additional items such as oven tray, oven glove additional tea towels, dish washer tablets would be helpful. All in all a lovely stay but felt that the lodge just need updated and refreshed.

We had a fantastic time in the lodge. The location and views were superb! A great wee find, with walks straight from the front door. Our only (small) issue was that there were no recycling bins. Otherwise it was clean and well looked after, and more spacious than anticipated.

Beautiful location. Lodge was not ready when we arrived but the staff were working really hard and were very friendly and cheerful so we waited patiently for half an hour until it was and when we did get in it was very clean.
Lodge was well laid out and the decking was nice when the weather allowed. Reasonably well equipped and had everything you need. We always take our own frying pan and a couple of decent knives for cooking with and we were glad we did but the oven and hob were both good and easy to use with no frustrations. The sofa was a bit rubbish so we just didn’t use it.
Downside, we were told a couple of days into our stay by a lady knocking at the door the water wasn’t classed as fit to drink anymore and gave us a big bottle of spring water and told us to boil any water first before using it. This was a little inconvenient but we got no updates on this for the rest of our two week stay. Communication I would say was poor on this. Thankfully though none of us got poisoned.
The only other negative was a dark maroon carpet which showed every crumb on it and required vacuuming every day. They do provide a good Henry vacuum for the job though.
WiFi was terrible but we had unlimited data on one of our EE accounts and mobile data coverage is very good.
Beds were very comfortable and we all slept well.
My only other comment is in this part of the West Coast of Scotland the weather seems very, very changeable and you need to be prepared for anything every day regardless of what the weather forecast says.

Thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night break at Lagnakeil Lodges. The location was absolutely breathtaking and a five minute drive into Oban. The rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little dated. We made use of a local restaurant ‘The Barn’ a very short walk/drive away for a takeaway then a meal in the restaurant the following night. It was a great wee find. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again and would highly recommend.

Firstly the positives: the lodge was clean, the surroundings were peaceful and the bed very comfortable.
The negatives: the bathroom door didn’t lock, the shower head wasn’t fixed properly , this meant that it kept sliding up and down when in use which was annoying. All it required was a bracket to fix it, I would have expected that maintenance issues like this would have been sorted during the Covid lockdown whilst the lodges were closed. The power of the shower was also poor.
In my opinion this lodge was massively overpriced ( 656.00 for four days).To charge £9 for electricity on top of this, I believe to be miserly and not good customer care , and was not made clear at the time of booking. We did not meet Lauren the owner in person, but as a business owner myself, I feel that her customer care skills could be improved. Firstly we initially booked to come earlier in the year, but the Covid situation prevented this, so when we booked this stay the price was over £200 more( high season price), Personally as a good will gesture I would not have charged for the dog in light of this. When we arrived I had to ring to find out which lodge was mine , I also had to ring when leaving as no information was provided re return of keys. I was not asked if everything was ok or if I had enjoyed my stay. Also we had to remove all our own bedding. For £656.00 I feel she did very little. I would not recommend Ash lodge as I feel it was hugely overpriced.

Our lodge was very clean and felt Covid safe. We had everything we needed and although the site was almost full, it was a quiet and relaxing place to stay. We are a retired couple and opted for a two bedroom lodge, Ash 1 has a small garden area with an outdoor table and benches. The heating worked well and the additional cost was minimal at £8 for the week. The lodges are just 3 miles outside Oban and ideal for catching ferries to Mull and other islands. I would describe the lodges as comfortable rather than luxurious but it suited us well and I would recommend them.

I was bought a voucher for Xmas to stay at Lagnakeil and there was a bit of a drama to redeem the voucher so i wasn't expecting much but i have to say i was very pleasantly surprised.
I stayed in one of the Ash Lodges with Harley (the dog) and it was absolutely spotless and warm on arrival.
As previous reviewers on TripAdvisor have said - take note of the electricity on arrival as it was a bit out from that on the arrival form but having stayed in many (and varied) self-catering places over the last 30+years paying for electricity isn't an issue for me.
The location is stunningly peaceful (i may have been the only guest) and we had all weathers for my two nights - hail, rain, sun, snow - the lodge is as cosy as anything with enough facilities, utensils etc to suit me down to the ground.
My main purpose for going was to get out and do some good hikes and the weather put paid to some of that but i still got a few shorter hikes in.
If i had to offer one constructive comment its (as a dog-friendly Guest House owner) maybe to review/relax the dog rules - my approach has always been dogs can't read, and don't understand the difference between home/away rules - it's the owners you have to watch - i always take throws with me just in case and who knows what she's doing when i'm asleep!! Plus when the rules say 'always keep dogs on the lead around the site' and you see a resident dog off lead there are mixed signals (albeit it was very quiet when i was there).
All in all a very nice break - if anything maybe too short (only 2nights).

We stayed at the lodge with our 2 young children for my partners 40th birthday and had a fantastic break. Highly recommend and I only wish we had stayed longer. We were lucky enough to have gotten a deal so was cheaper than normal but would be happy to pay the regular prices as very reasonable. Even staying out of season there was plenty to do. The little park and facilities on sight were great and only 10 minutes from the town. The lodge itself was immaculate! Slightly dated decor but that doesn’t matter, extremely clean and well presented and the most comfortable beds! Lovely surprise personal touch with a card and fizz for my partners birthday and very friendly helpful staff. Have recommended to all out friends and family. Thank you very much for a lovely stay and well will hopefully be back next year!

When we arrived there was no-one from the lodge around to welcome us, there was a sign for reception and our key left there. Upon entering the lodge we noticed that there was no decking area which was in the description of the lodge although i do realise they all vary but if your reading about Ash Lodge then you expect to get similar. There was no fire pit either. With regards to the lodge upon entering it was absolutely Baltic inside, as if no one had been in it for weeks. We were stunned to realise that after pay £178 for the lodge for 2 days that we also had to pay for electricity. There was a reading on the table from the day before we arrived, however we took our own reading when we arrived and it was different. The lodge itself was fine, although the double bedroom light was not working and neither was the twin room which wasn’t ideal when you have a 3 year old sleeping in there. We did visit reception a few times to advise of this but there was never anyone about to speak with. The toilet, my goodness it was Freezinh, every trip to the toilet was dreaded because of this. There was a towel rail but it wasn’t in and even when we turned it on it didn’t make much difference. There was no chance anyone could take a shower or w bath in there especially a child because it was just too cold. Then there was the smell of Fish from the toilet. Baltic and Fishy, great combination not! When we were leaving of course there was a staff member there because they were taking money from you for the heating, i explained the issues and she said the heating should have been on for us arriving. She also said the reading should have been taken on the day we arrived. I explained and she said she was sorry that the towel rail should have been on to heat the toilet up over a few hours. Loads of apologies but none seemed genuine. She said that she was off the day we arrived and things often slide when she isn’t there. So for that reason disappointing. Also one last thing if arriving at night in the winter months especially take a torch because there’s absolutely no lighting at all at night so anyone wish to go to the barn which is apparently a 5 mins walk up the road, it’s not, it’s a good 10-15mins in a pitch black road. Purely because of the lack of customer service and the issues i would not recommend.

Pleasantly surprised with the location, websites can be misleading, but perfect location for exploring this area.
Cabins were basic, but comfortable, there was an issue with the water supply, that was dealt with on arrival.
The owner and her family were helpful, and we felt if we had a problem there was a real person there to deal with it!
We would definitely return here, perhaps to a larger cabin, we enjoy more space.

extremely clean and tidy only drawbacks were the reception of the tv in the evenings and the water which was unusable for drinking so bottle water had to be bought for use for coffee and tea making and the brushing of teeth. Even though would still recommend the lodges to friends.

The site of these lodges is beautiful. The lodge we were allocated didn't seem as good as some of the others (eg we didn't have decking or a washing line). Site facilities are getting a bit shabby, the playroom only had a few (broken) toys although the outside playground was nice when the weather was kind.

The Cabins are set in a wonderful location with a short walk through a field to a great pub and food. Only a few miles out of Oban a taxi ride is less than £10 and there is access to some great restaurants and bars. So lots to do but also very nice to relax in the country settings within the site and surrounding area. All in all a perfect holiday enjoying the great outdoors in Argyle

We were disappointed when we opened the door to our Ash Lodge. There is a smell that was particularly bad on a hot day. The chalets are very dated which we wouldn’t have minded at all if we had felt it was clean. The worst thing was we had asked for a high chair and travel cot and both were visibly dirty. Especially the travel cot! It had obviously been used previously for a play pen outside. A whole pile of grass and dirt fell out of it on to the carpet when we opened it. Checking things like high chairs and travel cots between uses is basic! We felt the photos of the chalets online were quite misleading. There are far more chalets than pictured and a lot closer together. The games room was dirty and there was often a dog in there which I thought was totally inappropriate for a children’s play room. The chalets are in a lovely location, and with a little work could be really great. But as it is we wouldn’t stay again or recommend them.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Lagnakeil. This was our third annual trip. The location is excellent for touring and exploring the local area or chilling out in Oban. The food in the nearby Barn restaurant is great and good value for money. The park has some stunning views and is ideally placed for walking as we did with our two dogs. The lodge itself was ideal for us, extremely clean when we arrived and fully met our needs during the week.
However, our lodge was clearly in need of a refurbishment. The shaving light and extractor fan in the bathroom did not work and the bathroom window was cracked. The oven did not work at first and took some fiddling to get a little heat to cook with. It also needed a deep clean to remove the grease. The kitchen worktop was damaged and the furniture in the living room had clearly seen much better days. WiFi was sporadic and rarely provided an acceptable signal. Outside we encountered the same large pothole on the entrance road that had been there on our previous two visits.
With a little tlc Lagnakeil could be turned into an excellent place to stay and we would very much look forward to another visit next year.

This is our 4th year at the lodges. There was 9 of us this year. It is a very relaxing, chilled break.
What we did notice was that work is ongoing in updating/replacing outdoor seating and indoor sofa's and chairs.
Always spotless, bed very comfortable. Will defo be back next year.

The lodges are in a great location for ferries and main routes. Very comfortable although a little tired now. Admin and contact could be better. Emailed regarding microwave not working on second day, but didn’t get a reply and it wasn’t replaced and our stay was 11 nights. Also confusion over payment and key given didn’t match with lodge number originally.
However, overall it was good and we would go again and recommend it.

Myself and partner like to get away for a break when we can.this means we enjoy going to open countryside with scenery. Just sitting on decking looking at the most spectacular scenery. The peacefullness and quietness from ash lodge was bliss.the lady that assisted us at reception was just exceptional. Just what we wanted.Lodge was spotless,very homely and snug.Had everything we needed.Only downside was we didn't get the weather we hoped for,rained most of Saturday(but that wasn't the lodges fault),and maybe February was the wrong time of the year.trip up to the Barn pub through couple fields wasn't too bad on the way up at around 5ish,but we came back down around 7ish and it was pitch black,and using our phones as torches wasn't great!

We used the Lagnakeil Lodges as a team base while working on a construction project local to Oban, in Late Winter 2019. For our purposes the Lodge was well located and more than adequately comfortable. The location offers absolutely stunning views down the Glen and for holiday purposes I think this would be a great place to come back to. The Lagnakeil Lodges are off the beaten track; but only a little bit, which leaves them really accessible to everything else that Oban and its surroundings have to offer.
The service and reception here was really helpful and offered us lots of choices. We have been here two weeks already and have no thoughts about moving elsewhere for the remaining three weeks of our project out here.

Beautiful location and ideally situated for Oban. We stayed in Ash 6 which had uninterrupted views down the Glen. Peaceful getaway. 15 minutes walk to the Barn Bar and Restaurant. Dog friendly and good value for money. Interesting walk back in the dark - you will need a torch. Don’t expect much if any WiFi signal. Enjoy.

I felt the lodge was more than adequate for the needs of myself and my sister-in-law. We did not use the cooking facilities as we went out each day but there was sufficient supplied if we had needed to.
It was helpful to have towels, tea towels etc., supplied and beds made up ready for arrival. The beds were comfortable and the power shower a bonus.
It was an excellent base for our holiday and I would not hesitate to book it again but probably if I was having a more outdoor holiday and enjoying the walks etc.,it would be ideal.
I wish the proprietor every success in the future.

The outside furniture was in a terrible condition, the wooden seat was poor, had to be careful sitting down on it, the metal bench was a complete eyesore and we would definitely not have sat on it.
The wardrobes looked like they had been cobbled together, the doors were loose. The toaster didn’t fully work. Otherwise the inside was ok.
When we went to check out nobody came upon ringing the bell. Very bad customer service. Meanwhile there is clearly lots of money currently being spent on doing up the reception - perhaps the lodge upkeep should be prioritised.
Not good value for money overall, wouldn’t recommend to others.

We had a brilliant week here at Lagnakeil in an Ash Lodge. The lodge was superb in all respects and had everything we needed to make it an extremely enjoyable week. The beautiful weather was the icing on the cake! It's a great base with loads to do locally and in the surrounding area and we fitted in some island hopping as well. A great week.

It is a lovely place in beautiful surroundings. The place is very well managed and there have been various improvements to the site since 2016. Everything went very smoothly on our visit. We took our little dog with us on this trip and he also had a great time. It is close to Oban centre but the site is in a nice quiet valley. There is a nice pub called "The Barn" that serves food and is also dog friendly. We had a great time and look forward to returning.

Nice place. Stopped for 3 nights with kids during a road trip of Scotland. Lodge was clean and well equipped with great views. Site very quiet which was ideal. Lots of wildlife to spot and we had a good walk direct from site. Oban has everything most visitors would need. Ferry to mull was awesome but does get booked up so book in advance at peak times. Swimming pool in Oban (with slide for kids) was ok too. Only minor quibble would be lack of recycling facilities on site. All good.

Second time we have stayed here. Beautiful location, 5-10 min drive to town centre. We were staying with an 11 month old and the lodge was cosy, comfy & very well equipped. We were even invited to join them for a bonfire night. The owners are fantastic and went well beyond to help us out when we suffered car troubles. This was our second time at Lagnakeil and it didn't disappoint. Lauren was very helpful when we arrived and the lodge was cosy, comfy & very well equipped. Situated a little bit out of the way but that's what we wanted; gorgeous situation. Well worth the hike up through the fields (remember your boots & torch) to "The Barn" for a beautiful meal in nice laid back, friendly atmosphere. They didn't even mind our muddy boots! Loads to do for all ages in and around Oban - you can't go wrong with Lagnakeil as a base and, if you don't want to drive the taxis are happy to drive you.
We'll make a point of coming back again when possible. Thanks Lauren :)

We were very disappointed with our stay. We thought the accommodation was very "tired". Everything had had its day and the fixtures and fittings were badly in need of replacing. For the money charged we had hoped for more comfort, it was very poor value for money. To add to our disappointment even the wifi connection was non existent. We thought the extra charge for electricity the final insult. In the end we left early.

The lodge was really nice had one of the best views in the park. The owners were really helpful and everything was easy to navigate. The lodge had everything you would need for a stay and it was brilliant for a family stay. Would happily stay here again next time we visit. Thank you!

Les lodges sont confortables et propres. L’environnement est très agréable. La vue est magnifique et le parc est très bien entretenu. Nous avons apprécié la salle de jeu bien équipée qui a occupé les enfants, l’aire de piquenique/BBQ panoramique qui surplombe la vallée.
Paul et Loreen font tout ce qu’il faut pour rendre le séjour de leurs résidents très agréable. Ils ont même organisé un service de baby-sitter lors d’une soirée !

The lodges are comfortable and clean. The surroundings is very pleasant and the view is beautiful. The parklands is well kept. The children very much appreciated the game room. The panoramic picnic/BBQ area leans over the valley.
Paul and Loreen make their guests very welcome. They have even organized a babysitter for us one evening.
A big thank you both of you for this lovely week. We’ll be back. We have still a lot to explore within Oban area.

We drove down a single track road unsure what we would find, what we found was our own peace of heaven, we had Ash lodge 6, i personally think we had the best 2 bed lodge, we took our dog too, the lodge itself was very clean and had everything we needed, we borrowed a bbq also. What can i say on the views..they were amazing especially from the kitchen window and decking, my son's had an amazing time even though one is a teenager i never heard them once say they were boered, i definatley hope to go back and would like to say longer tgan what we did...i would highly recommend Lagnakeil Lodges.

We found the cabin to be comfortable and suitable for our needs. The location was excellent for exploring the Oban area, both north and south. The park was tidy and gave us a good place to exercise our dog. There were good local eating establishments but also cooking in the cabin was easy as the kitchen was well equipped.

We stayed in Ash Lodge for but a mere weeeknd, which was in no way long enough to full appreciate what there was on offer.

The area itself is absolutely outstanding, but to say that the property was a home away from home would be to do it a disservice. It was better than home - so much so that we considered changing the locks and never leaving! Unfortunately common sense, the law and our jobs meant that we had to (reluctantly) return the keys but we will be back!

The lodge was very clean and comfortable. Had great night's sleep due to the excellent mattresses. Wonderful staff who are quick to help when you need it. The views are great whatever the weather. Close to Oban centre but far enough away for a really relaxing and quiet get away from it all break if that's what you want. Would go back.

We stayed at Lagnakeil in July and it was lovely. The lodge was neat, clean and cosy. We had everything we needed in the kitchen, the lodge was dog friendly and the kids slept well! We were lucky to receive good weather, but even when not, there is a kids playroom with great toys, or, we just put on our waterproof clothes and wellington boots and got out in it! The location is quiet and peaceful and just a short drive from many wonderful places in Lorne and Argyll. We often picked up fresh seafood in Oban and enjoyed it in the lodge!

We had a lovely stay here. We ended up without a car which meant we had to take taxis into town (around £10 each way) but the cabins were warm, cosy and the surroundings absolutely beautiful. Owners very kind and helpful when we asked for assistance with taxis etc. Our only recommendation would be to include some tea/coffee/milk for arrival.

We were very happy with our stay at Lagnakeil Lodges. It was located in a beautiful location and the cabins were well kept. It had alot of green space for the kids to run around in and there was a pub within walking distance. It was nice being away from the city to enjoy the countryside. The only complaint we had were that the covers on the bed were short. I would recommend having full sized sheets and covers on the bed. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay especially if you have kids that enjoy the outdoors.

My wife, toddler son and I recently booked an Ash lodge for a weekend. We were welcomed by Paul who was very friendly and showed us to our lodge, which was a minute's walk from reception. The lodge was small but very cozy and perfect for our stay. The furniture is a little dated but perfectly comfortable and the beds are fantastic. A travel cot, high chair and toys were kindly provided for our son during our stay. The area itself is in a stunning location with plenty of walking trails nearby. As the lodges are self-catering we found the nearest supermarkets in Oban to be very convenient. There was a television also so our son could watch Cbeebies whilst we prepared his breakfast (having an open plan kitchen/living room is perfect when cooking and minding small kids!). Our only disappointment was that we had to pack up and head off after 2 nights. A longer stay is really required to fully appreciate this fantastic getaway!

Sitting outside on the deck with a glass of wine looking over to the loch, what more can you ask for. Short walk to the local pub, which served good food both inside and outdoors. Holidaying with kids in the Scottish countryside can be difficult at times. Some of the more interesting places can be quite isolated from civilisation and require you to bring everything you need with you. Inevitably this means long journeys to find that essential you forgot.
Not so with the Lagnakiel Highland lodges. The lodges are situated 10 minutes away from the gateway to the islands, Oban which has all the amenities you will need, even for forgetful parents. Once out of town and down the short single track road to the lodges it is easy to forget the little glen is so close to an urban centre. The lodges sit at the head of the quiet glen commanding beautiful views.
The lodge itself was very compact, cosy, easily heated (we visited in February) and room enough for the four of us to enjoy our time there comfortably. A games room and laundry were available for those on longer stays or when the weather is not too good.
The short distance to main roads makes the lodges a great base for day trips around the area. Particularly suited to those less confident about more isolated lodgings or who have a young family and like the idea of being close to town for emergencies.

Very cold time of year when we stayed. Cabin was freezing and heaters took a while to heat up. Light globes had blown and kitchen was dark. Wifi was down during our stay. The hot water was not sufficient for a family of four. Needed cooking trays for oven. Friendly owners.

Lovely peaceful location just outside of Oban. Friendly and helpful owners. Great size kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. We stayed during winter and the lodge was kept comfortably warm. We had a 6 week old baby with us which was not a problem.

Very nice clean lodges a bit out of the way but that suited us fine,lodges very comfortable and the staff very helpful,only one thing but i dont know if it can be fixed cabin felt a little damp in the morning,but it was cold outside,we left heating on low all day and left all doors open this helped a little. Would rebook no problem and recommend this break.

We stayed ay Lagnakeil Highland Lodges for two days before Christmas and had a lovely restful time. It is so close to Oban with a great chocolate shop and sports centre that the kids enjoyed. The lodges are well equipped, clean and the owners were very helpful and friendly. It was a peaceful place with fantastic views. Well worth a visit.

Had a great time at Lagnakeil Holiday Cottages. Stayed in Ash Lodge which was very comfortable. The view from the lodge was excellent. We were able to have our dog with us which was excellent.

We were very well received on arrival. The peace and quiet was very appreciated (as was the planned fireworks display).

Not far from Oban so Lagnakeil makes a good base and its a really pretty and clean site. Our cottage had lovely views the beds were really comfy and there was plenty of heating making it cosy on cold nights.

We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was clean and well maintained, basic but perfectly adequate for what you need. I don't like it when folk slate places like this when they are clearly expecting the ritz! It is perfect for a self catering getaway and personally I prefer this type of accommodation to staying in a hotel. Really nice decking, dishwasher was handy, nice and warm and close enough to oban town centre( short drive, taxis very reasonable). The nearby pub serves great food and we enjoyed our stay very much. Would definitely go back.

the cabins were hard to find and we were not given any specific instructions on how to find it. Cabins felt musty and wet and needed a good clean. the kitchen was good and easy to use.

We were not informed that the electricity was not included this could be costly over winter. I was very disappointed as the cabins did not live up to the pictures and description. :-(

We used our stay at Lagnakeil as a base for sightseeing around some of the islands, such as Staffa. Travelling with a seven month old baby, the seclusion and privacy offered by Lagnakeil was spot on. WIth electric heaters throughout the lodge, comfortable beds and plenty of seating, we were comfortable throughout our stay. We asked Paul for a wood burner on the decking which is where we spent our evenings. A roaring fire, in outstanding scenery, with a nice whisky.... Perfect. If we are back in the Oban area, we will definitely choose Lagnakeil.

Stayed for a long weekend in an Ash lodge, very clean and good range of cooking equipment. You do need to pay for electricity, we had 2 heaters on most of the time and we were £7. Road into lodges is 1.7 miles of single track with passing places, but if you take your time it is fine. Site itself has a games room with pool and table football and a whole host of board games, great for kids on. Rainy afternoon. The lodge itself was spotless, some of the walls were half painted, which was a bit strange, but it was the 2nd day before we noticed, so not that obvious. The furniture was a bit faded, but clean and comfortable. The beds gave us all a great nights sleep. I would definitely go back.

I believe the hosts are considering upgrading the lodges which would probably
bring them up to the standard of previous lodges we have stayed in e.g. Big Sky Lodges(near Beauly) and also Muir of Ord(near Elgin).

Addition of Wood-burning stove especially for winter would be great and match previous Lodges we have stayed in.

Overall a very enjoyable stay.

We will definitely return to Lagnakeil Highland Lodges next year & I suspect many times after that, even though we drove up from Oxford it is so worth it when you arrive.
It is a fabulous GET AWAY from it all holiday location.
It feels as though it's really remote with glorious views both from our lodge & outside but it is only 5/10 mins from the lovely town of Oban with it's fantastic pubs & restaurants.
Fantastic walks surround the lodges.
Paul is welcoming, friendly, approachable & always helpful.
The lodges have a lovely cosy feel to them & benefit from a dishwasher as well. There is an onsite games room with pool table & football table. You can also borrow books & games from here.
You can walk to the nearby Pub, The Barn which serves fabulous food, is very friendly & has won the good food guide prizes & other awards.
We came back feeling very relaxed & still do even after the drive back & a few days have elapsed. We didn't want to or need to watch tv, go on the internet, text, use social media or even read a paper, it was so nice to play games as a family, talk or read, walk & explore.
There is also so much to do in Lagnakeil & it's surrounding area.
Apart from walking & exploring Lagnakeil & it's glen, you can use it as a base to visit many area's of Scotland including many of the glorious nearby islands from Oban, Historic friendly Oban itself, Loch Lommond & the some of the highlands. So much to see & explore in this area that it's hard to choose or you can just sit & chill, looking at the views from the lodges.
If we were nearer we would be back two or three times a year & that should tell you all that you need to know. :-)

The lodge is well equipped: heaters, microwave, tv set, kitchen with an electrical cooking plate. Wifi is present, but both connection and speed are poor. The bed was a litte narrow for 2 normal sized persons. There is a pub nearby (10 min. walk) with meals and live traditional music. The location is attractive and suitable for walks through the hilly fields towards the sea side. The location is close to the beautiful town Oban, only 10 minutes driving.

Absolutely appalled at the condition of the Ash 1 lodge we stayed in for 3 nights (10th - 13th July 2016). We were a family of four with two young kids. It totally spoilt what promised to be an excellent location and base for our holiday.

The exterior of the lodge appeared welcoming but a pity it was surrounded with a lack of scenery (the green laundry room and a neighboring side garden and the main path into the lodges) made it feel quite cramped and unenjoyable. We had no decking to ourselves but just a bench and we had been dreaming of being on the decking looking at gorgeous scenery.

Once inside the lodge we realised what we had paid for and very upset at what we got for our money... The rooms were stinking, absolutely horrendous smells that were infused permanently into the rooms & furniture - the couches and beds stank when you sat on them and had dirty linen on them! There were flies everywhere, the table and kitchen worktops were all sticky and many areas hadn't been wiped down properly, dusty surfaces and appalling toilet/shower facilities. The carpet was very tired/looked dirty and had seen better days, the dining table was broken and the list goes on...

Oh I almost forgot the water had a brown tinge to it, it was peat water apparently safe to drink/bathe in. We were not at all impressed!

We had to constantly tell the kids to not touch or sit down and couldn't relax. We were given more linen on day two and I placed some on the sofa and chairs to try and get rid of the stench/make it tolerable to sit on. We also used a candle to try and remove the nasty smells. We felt the lodge should have been made more habitable and was unfair to be given to us in the condition it was. We suffered a lot of itching and scratching afterwards as did the kids. I would not recommend anyone to stay here. They should not allow pets in all lodges - some reviewers won't mind smelly lodges for this added pet perk but some like me certainly do - a choice should be given and a pet free lodge would perhaps help this issue.

The lodge owners are new and are working on fixing these issues but they do have a lot to fix and modernise so worth checking before you plan a trip, we were given 50% discount but honestly wasn't worth it for us (also we had to wait almost 2 weeks for the refund to be done!) We went on to stay at a premier inn for the next leg of our journey and that felt like sheer luxury in comparison.

We had a 10 days holiday in Lagnakeil. The place is wunderful, even if the scottisch weather was a bit wet sometimes. The apartment was clean, the beds were good, we had a very good sleep there and in the kitchen we could find everything we needed. When it was cold outside we were able to heat the rooms so that it was very cosy. Maybe we comme back.

There were 4 adults in our party and we were very comfortable in this accommodation. The decor was a little dated but was in good order. It would have been nice to have french windows to the balcony area as there was in some other lodges. The shared facilities in the games room and laundry were not of a high standard and it would be a good investment to make this area more attractive as on a rainy day there was nothing to do unless you left the site to head into the town. We enjoyed the quiet restful atmosphere on the site and appreciated that although other lodges were close by we were not overlooked. The manager was friendly but unobtrusive. The only other criticism would be the separate charge for electricity. It was a small sum which should have been included in the booking fee as it seemed rather petty to ask for a few extra pounds when the hire itself was on the higher end of similar charges for this type of accommodation.

Lodges well maintained, clean and every thing works.Bed and furniture comfortable but soft furnishings a little tired. The lodge was reasonably well equipped but we would have liked a coffee pot and maybe some kitchen tongs.
Location is brilliant, a quiet little Glen about four miles from the centre of Oban but could be miles away. Peaceful and tranquil but a good pub only ten mins easy stroll away. This had good food, real ale (Fyne Ales) and is dog friendly. There is a walk in the nearby forest for off the lead exercise if you have a dog.
All in all a very nice spot for a holiday

A good cottage in nice surrondings. Comfortable beds. Well equiped kitchen. We had trouble with the handling of the heat water warmer in the bathroom (maybe not the cottage's fault).

The site is in a wonderful location, nice and remote with amazing views.

If I was going to be really picky, I might say that the kitchen could have been slightly better equipped. For instance, a cafetiere would have been useful. Also, the markings on the oven/grill function selector had worn away making them difficult to read, but the oven itself worked absolutely fine.

This was our third visit to Lagnakeil and I'm sure we'll be returning.

The lodges were beautiful with good facilities in a beautiful setting. Location was very easy to find and so convenient being so close to oban.

We stayed here the last week in May and had sunshine most of the time. Position of Ash 6 is the best on site in our opinion, elevated position with stunning view to the loch and sun all day on the deck. The owners are very welcoming and keen to be of assistance if needed, otherwise you just get on with your holiday. THe cabins are well equipped and the beds very comfortable. The bird feeder on the window proved to be a source of entertainment. The location was good for going up north to Glencoe, over to Inverary, down to Tarbett and exploring the coast. If you like being able to spend time outdoors this is the answer, whilst having the option to enjoy the comforts of home if you choose. Great place, will go again.

We have stayed here two nights in the middle of a longer trip in Scotland. We just wanted to relax from travelling and catch up on our holiday reading. The property is located in a beautiful area, is quiet and the lodges are spacious and comfortable. It's a bit older and the lodges are in need of some work to bring them up-to-date, the owners have recently taken over and are planning to do some redecoration. We had a problem in our lodge and the owners immediately decided to give us a refund for one night and made their apologies. A great example of customer orientation. We think this property has a lot of potential when some work is done on the lodges.

The Lodges are situated in an amazing location, just a short drive (10 min.) to the centre of Oban. The Ash Lodge has THE best view of them all and from the deck you can look through the valley towards the ocean / loch. Sheep are on the other side grazing along and the playground for our children was just in front of us. From the location and small scale set up we can recommend it to anyone. Paul is very helpfull and friendly and very child friendly. The ambition of refurbishing or upgrading the lodges would be welcome and could make this place the go-to self-catering lodges in the Oban area. Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet hideaway with all amenities in close driving range.

I stayed in the Ash lodge 5 with my husband and two year old daughter. The owners were nice and the grounds and location is lovely. 5 mins drive to Oban.

The lodge was OK, quite compact. The bedrooms were so tight that we couldn't fit a travel cot in any room. We had to put one single bed on its side to fit the cot in! Didn't mind this too much.

I didn't find the furniture very comfortable. Quite dated and the couch was small and hard. The whole place really needs a good make over and some money spent on it.

The place is cold but heats up quickly with the heaters on. All the windows were open when we arrived and we quickly found out why! There is a damp, dog like smell. This bothered me more than my husband as I am pregnant so have a particularly sensitive nose at the moment! To be honest this wasted my stay a bit. I think the carpets and furniture might need replaced to combat this.

Apart from this we had a good stay and enjoyed exploring the area.

We stayed in the Ash Lodge for the weekend for a family break with my husband, 3 year old and 10 month old babies. The owner (Paul) was there to greet us on our arrival, was very friendly and showed us around the lodge. The lodge was clean and was fully equipped with all the essentials we needed for our stay. We went over to Mull during our stay and the lodge was perfect location to catch the ferry with it only being about 5/10 mins away. We were really lucky with the weather during our stay and the views from the lodge were stunning. A perfect lodge for a relaxing weekend.

Enjoyed our stay in Ash 1 however as we booked through booking.com it stated we would have private decking with views. On arrival we were quite disappointed to find that we had no decking and no views visible from the lodge. If we had known this we would have booked elsewhere as this was the reason we chose Lagnakeil over a cheaper B&B in town. The lodges had great facilities and were very spacious however unfortunately the couch smelled of wet dog and there was quite a bit of dust and cobwebs. With all that being said we would probably visit again as long as we were assured we would not be staying in Ash 1.

Such a quite place but plenty to do right on the door step .
We got such a warm personal welcome on arrival.
On site a games room and small park fir the kids to play lots of walks for the dogs .
Very central and just a 5 mins drive from oban .
Was just there for 2 nights stay and will definitely be back such a great place to stay .

Perfect getaway..views are amazing, cabins are comfortable, warm and dog friendly.
Oban is only 5 mins away in the car and has some lovely restaurants. The Barn pub is a short walk from the cabins and although quite pricey the food served there was lovely and again this is a dog friendly place which was a big bonus for us.

My sister & I stayed here and were joined by my daughter and 2 grandchildren for the second night. Cot & high chair were provided. Owners Paul & Lauren Thomson, only took the site over in November and admitted the lodges were a 'little tired'. However the lodge was very clean & cosy. Kitchen appliances included a dishwasher which was unexpected. The complex included laundry room and a games room. Our lodge had children's swing park opposite and had a beautiful view overlooking Loch Feochan. Unfortunately never met Lauren but Paul was very informative and couldn't do enough to help. Altogether a very relaxing break in beautiful surtoundings. Would not hesitate to return.

We used vouchers for this holiday - not sure I would have liked to pay full price. But lodge was as described on web site and was perfectly acceptable. Very well kept green spaces, lots of trees, nice aspects. Easy to heat lodge and inexpensive electricity tariff. Comfortable beds and good bedding and towels. Basic kitchen utensils. Furniture - wardrobes, seating - a bit run down but all in all we enjoyed being there and would go back.

We only had 2 nights but we would have stayed longer. On arrival we found we had been upgraded to a 3 bedroom Conifer Lodge which gave us lots of space. The lodge was clean and beds made up. Furniture was serviceable and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Heating was by electric convector wall heaters which kept the place warm, but electricity was paid for by meter reading and could have proved expensive had the weather been really cold. We paid 6pounds for our stay. There are no shops nearer than Oban 3 miles away though there is a restaurant within walking distance. Oban is a lovely town with a good selection of shops and eating places. The whole area is full of lovely views and walks and the lodges are well situated to take advantage of many of them.

Our host Paul showed up to our lodge on the way we met his wife and son who all took time to chat.
The lodge was clean spacious and up to date. It was well equipped with essentials although we had brought our own. The setting and views were to die for! It must be the most tranquil place in the world.

We stayed for 2 nights but wish we had booked for longer. We took our dog, most would be put off by his size being a GSD but the owners were very welcoming. The lodge is kitted out with everything you will need to cater for yourself. The location of the lodge is just beautiful and quiet but not too far from Oban town centre. We would definitely like to return and make it a longer stay next time. A fantastic place to stay. We would highly recommend.

Our stay at Lagnakeil was perfect.....well apart from the weather which was awful....and we didn't want to leave! We were welcomed by the owner, Paul, who accompanied us to our lodge and explained how everything worked! The lodge was cosy and very comfortable and well equipped with everything we would need for our stay. The beds were great and we all slept like tops despite the howling gales outside! Yes....you pay extra for electricity but it was well worth it as it allowed us to have the heating up full over the very cold weekend! It would be unsustainable for the owners to pick up this added expense as frankly some guests would possibly not be very eco friendly if it wasn't an added extra! I would have no hesitation in recommending Lagnakeil and we are very much looking forward to our return visit in April.

Stayed fri-sun & loved it. Location is great for walking trails and amazing scenery. We found it easy enough and it was well sign posted. Paul & his wife were really nice and very accommodating - especially as we were late arriving.

An excellent time was had in a beautiful area of Oban, with beautiful walks around the loch. Our lodge was cold when we arrived but warmed up in no time and was very comfortable indeed, with every comfort we could think of (apart from a serrated bread-knife, if you're going to have baguettes bring your own!). The lodge park is very well kept with a basic games room for the kids, featuring a football table and pool, as well as numerous books suitable for kids and adults.

We would definitely be keen to return to the area and to Lagnakeil!

Stayed for 2 nights in the beginning of December with my 10 week old baby. Having read reviews on trip advisor i was concerned about the temperature of the lodge bringing a new born baby, i can confirm those who are moaning about the cold are just to tight to pay to turn the heating on!
Upon arrival i had a warm welcome and was directed to my upgraded lodge from ash, to Conifer 3. This had parking next to the lodge which was ideal for all the extra bits and pieces to be unloaded which we had brought for baby. The view was lovely.
We ate out locally the first night and in the second night, the kitchen is fully equipped so this was easy.
Would come back again!

We stayed at the Ash Lodge at the beginning of Dec 2015. The owner seemed really flexible when just days away I asked if it was ok to come one night earlier as there was a problem with my partner getting time off. During the weekend it was pouring with rain most of the time, still the cottage was so cosy that we did not mind staying in with our son. We really like the fragrant plug ins that contributed to the nice atmosphere. The owner provided us with all the information we needed about the local area. We did not mind having to pay for electricity as this had been explained before our stay. Normally we would not have afforded to go to a lodge of this standard for two nights; we found the price with the voucher really reasonable. Definitely worth recommendation. Stunning views of hills and a lake outside, plenty opportunities for walks.

Lagnakeil Lodges are in a beautiful location and we were fortunate that, although we had booked a smaller Poplar Lodge, we were allocated an Ash in an area of the park with great views down the glen. The lodge was well furnished, but with the minimum of equipment (compared with other places we have stayed). However, as soon as we entered the building, we experienced an overwhelming smell of damp, which was particularly apparent in the bedrooms and persisted throughout our stay even after we had had the heaters on and cooked food. We mentioned this to the owner on departure and he seemed surprised, though it was impossible to have not noticed it.
We enjoyed our weekend; the site was a good base for exploring the area, but we would not have wanted to stay for a longer period.

Warmly welcomed and given instruction in chalet as -how things work. Fabulous view/very quiet and importantly dog friendly.
Enjoyed over the next 5 days - Cruachan(hollow mountain) Mull, saw Iona as ferry did not sail due to bad sea, and enjoyed plenty of dog walks inc McCaigs monument and the best fish &chips as recommended by Rick Stein. Fabulous.

Decent lodge and not far from Oban. Found owner to be flexible and very helpful. Lodge clean and well stocked. Very comfortable beds. Communal games room was a welcome addition for the kids. WiFi is fine for email. Electricity is metered but only £1 a day for us, we made sure we switched off so I guess we were very "green" on that holiday. No negatives.

We loved our stay here. The folks at reception spoke to us for maybe 5 minutes total, but seemed friendly enough. The natural beauty of the location is unbeatable, and we really loved The Barn pub and restaurant that's just nearby. We stumbled into a night of live Scottish music with locals one night, and it was the best evening of our trip! The rooms are small, but serve their purpose, and the kitchen was well-fitted. Tub was a bit small, but it was lovely to have one in a cabin - we felt a bit spoiled at that. All around, I'd recommend it!

We had not read the small print closely and were very surprised by the extra charge for electricity, something we had not encountered anywhere else in the world. Also, most disappointed that in accommodation so far out of town that there was no 'welcome pack' . For long distance, short term guests carrying/purchasing basics like tea, coffee, milk, sugar, salt is unusual. Just being able to make a cuppa on arrival would add a nice touch, especially in the late afternoon/ evening. We purchased and left a large container of salt and left it.

Cabin was lovely, well set out and everything we needed. Beds were amazingly cosy and comfy and we had plenty big fluffy towels. Only a couple of negatives, outside area for our cabin didn't have any decking, just grass which was really soaking due to all the rain there was whilst we were there and we also thought we were going to have views from the cabin of the loch but we didn't. On the whole though these were pretty minor issues which couldn't really be avoided and we had a lovely stay and enjoyed the peace and quiet and the lovely walks with our dogs .

Had an enjoyable time. View from decking great was hoping to be nearer loch. Chalet lovely inside outside decking could do with some tlc. The only problem we had was the steep hill our chalet was on car park for car was higher up which was a struggle for my husband who can't walk too far and hills even worse but we would return but chose a different chalet.

We made a last minute decision to spend a few days with our younger son in the Oban area. There seemed to be no hotel vacancies in the area for the dates we requested but a few lodges were available. We chose Lagnakeil and found it very comfortable. We only ate breakfast in the lodge but the kitchen area was well equipped and we could have cooked if we wished. The lodge was very convenient yet very secluded down the long approach road.

It is an excellent location for walking and touring with easy access to beautiful countryside and the most scenic of views. You do not have to bring toilet paper - the linen is fresh and the beds comfortable. The dishwasher is also appreciated.

Family break to Oban to try the Whale watching experience (sea life adventures - very good) and explore the area. The accommodation is basic, clean and very comfortable. Ideal base for exploring the area. The site is very quiet and private. The Barn offers bar suppers which were ideal and the staff were very friendly. It is a brisk 15 minute walk from the cabin. Our only slight disappointment is that our cabin did not benefit from a balcony over looking the valley so if this is a priority you should check before booking.

We stayed three nights at the beginning of July in Ash Lodge 1. The setting of this particular lodge was its only drawback: it had no outlook and the outside furniture occupied the space between your parked car and the enclosing hedge. But in every other respect the lodge was excellent: very comfortable beds, very well equipped kitchen, good seating and dining spaces. Mr Mossman was a helpful owner and dealt very promptly with a necessary minor repair. Recommended, but perhaps ask for a plan of the site before booking,and which lodges are available, if the position of your lodge is important to you.

The Lodge is pretty well signposted but we weren't looking! Instead we concentrated on the sat nag which we'd programmed with the postcode- and it's not that accurate. So look out for signs.
The accommodation is first class - equipped with almost everything you could need. The Barn restaurant is close by - but we coulsn;t get there by foot as there was a large bull in the field where the footpath ran!

Oban is 5 minutes away - with it's good shopping and lots to do. Colin, the owner, was very helpful.

I chose this lodge because of the view and it was stunning! Lodge itself is well equipped with bath, shower, kitchen, comfortable bed. We arrived an hour late, but as I called and left a voicemail message this was no problem and got a warm welcome by the owners.
The driveway to the lodge is a bit small and one should be aware of coming vehicles.

I think we were unfortunate in that our chalet had a really bad smell, particularly in the bedrooms. With the Windows open, it was not too bad but it became really powerful if they were shut for any length of time. The place was clean so there was no obvious source, but the electric deodoriser provided gave a clue to the fact that this may have been a continuing problem.
The situation was spectacularly beautiful and other people we spoke to did not have the same experience, so perhaps it would be worth checking with the owners before making a booking. If assured that the issue no longer exists, I would definitely recommend this site, if not I wouldn't, because it really upset one of our party.

Stayed in an Ash lodge with another couple. Beds are very comfortable!!! Lodge kitchen is full of everything that you would need. I did read that some people a little unhappy with the wifi connection, but lets face it is is very rural and you ain't going to get 4G or a fast wifi connection, but to me that is unimportant.

Clean and comfortable and yes you have to pay for the electricity on departure but for a long weekend we were only £3.90 and that is with the storage heaters on, makes you less likely to waste energy and on our particular weekend it wasn't the warmest weather and that was end of may beg of June!!

We had a lovely time staying at Lagnakeil and hopefully we will be able to return back again soon.

Lovely tidy park in beautiful location. Shame we had to park a little way from the lodge considering the weather wasn't very good during our stay. We have said that the condition was ok and this is due to the fact that the bedroom window would not close fully and also the spare bedroom window would not open.

Loved our stay here , This was the first time we had ever done tthat kind of holiday as we have always stayed in hotels of 4/5 Star never less .
When we walked in threw the door it was just like a little house , had a look around to find everything spotless and well kept ,Ktchen had every utensil you would need with starter pack that was very handy, Nice roomy dining table and chairs with ample seating area , Bedroom great very comfy beds,
Great bathroom always loads of boiling hot water,
Good views all around and no other chalet looking in your window due to positioning .
Fab pub doing great food 10 mins walk away .
Only 10 mins to town centre overall FABULOUS!!
I will definitely book again .

We stayed for 2 nights with our wee dog. The lodge was very well equipped and in a nice quiet setting. It was also within walking distance of a nice pub.

This was our third visit to Lagnakeil and just as enjoyable as the others. Looking out from the Lodge and sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful scenery and wildlife is so relaxing. We will rbe back.

Ideal base for walking and trips in the area.
Beautiful views and a warm comfortable stay.
Cabin is at the higher end of basic which meant I didn't feel uncomfortable
Walking in with muddy clothes and a wet dog.
Info was to hand and the wifi free,
Couch so comfortable I fell asleep on it one night and the kitchen utensils enough to
Make chillie con carne one night, pulled pork the next.

I recently stayed in the Ash Lodge at Lagnakiel with my two small children. The owner was helpful and polite on arrival and was happy direct me over the phone when I couldn't get access to the internet to retreive them.

The lodge itself was spotless on arrival and provided everything we needed. You could smell the freshness of the bed sheets. A cot and high chair was provided and you can request a dvd player which I did as it's handy to have for my eldest whilst I get ready or putting my younger one to bed. The weather was amazing that weekend but I used the heating at night and first thing in the morning as it was chilly in the lodge and my eldest has a heart condition and needs to stay warm. However, the electricity bill was £3.50 which I thought was reasonable and was more than happy to pay.

Lagnakiel is great value for money. It is located just outside the town of Oban. 5-10 minute drive and you are there. It is set in beautiful countryside with lovely walks, and a short walk to a restaurant and bar called "The Barn" very reasonably priced and nice food. It also has a play area for children. Lagnakiel is great for families and it's such a peaceful place.

I am actually from Oban and was home visiting but this was the first time I have brought the boys with me and it was perfect for them. My oldest loved it and didn't want to come home. I would recommend these lodges and have done to my family who would often like to go back and visit but they have dogs. Advantage is that they also have some lodges where pets are allowed.

I will use these lodges again. Loved my stay there and the only issue we had was that it wasn't long enough!

So close to Oban, yet quiet and peaceful with a lovely view. Great place for kids to let loose. Lodges well equipped, warm and nice inside. Would happily return.

I went as an experiment on my own, I felt safe, secure and felt like I had lived there like a local very quickly. I would recommend it as somewhere safe that someone needing some me time could go and be on there own, there is lots to do, a trip on a boat to one of the islands, a short drive into Oban and for all you chocolate lovers a trip to the chocolate shop with a book comes highly recommended. Heading up in the Campbeltown direction,the Loch Melfort Hotel is a very comfortable stop for stunning views friendly service. Would highly recommend a stay and as the famous saying goes I will be back, the peace, listening to the trees, and the stars at night I forgot how beautiful and bright the stars are when there are no street lights for the stars to compete with. Colin and Jo you both run a fab and special place. - and don't work to hard throughout the summer - Thank You Wilma - Glasgow

Had a great time with my to young children 1 and 2 years here would recommend it and would defenetly return in the future. Just check the pub down the road is in season as it was closed on one of the days but a nice walk never the less and great food and friendly staff.

We were a party of 4, one a 4year old, arriving for a weekend stay. The cottages are easy to find with the guide provided. The weather was clear, bright and dry for the stay but with a very cold east wind. The lodge was clean on arrival and the owners had thoughtfully put on the (effective) heaters so inside was warm throughout the stay. Living space was on the neat side but we managed quite well even with a small and lively child. There was ample linen. The kitchen was quite well provisioned and though he oven was effective the hob was very old fashioned. There was a good and safe play area for the 4 year old and there were lots of nice places to visit nearby. Unfortunately our 4 year old was sick in one night but nothing was too much trouble for the owners who provided fresh linen and support for which we were very grateful. This is not a luxury stay and the lodges are quite closely packed. However it was not expensive and was very enjoyable so in value for money terms Ash Lodge was excellent.

In an ideal world the cabin picture window would be turned around so you would be looking down the Glen instead of looking out onto the road and other cabins.A minor point.

The lodges are located in a perfect out of the way setting with peace and quite and a degree of comfort. Would recommend in summer months but the house was quite difficult to heat and the only cosy places were the bedrooms. The bathroom was baltic and consequently I didnt spend any more time in there than absolutely necessary !!! For families and couples great place for a visit !

We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at the Ash Lodge. This was not the first time we had stayed at Lagnakeil and we would be likely to return in the future.

We were happy with the condition of the lodge however there was a pet odour in the bedroom which did not lessen as our stay went on. I understand that pets are not allowed in the bedrooms but the previous occupant had obviously allowed their cat to stay there.

My sister and I booked a 2 day break for our mum for Christmas. The lodge was lovely warm and comfortable beautiful location will defiantly return and recommend to friends and family. The only downfall was the rain and windy weather but that did not dampen the enjoyment of our stay.

The accomodation is dated. More like chalet than lodge. Night time lighting completely inadequate. The owners are obviously very aware of the geography of local area but visitors in pitch darkness are not.
Views amazing, peaceful location. Perfect for summer holiday just maybe not for January.
