Hare Cottage is a lovely holiday home and can suit guests who may struggle with stairs as the living room/kitchen, shower room and double bedroom are downstairs. Situated in the Stables Courtyard it is close to the facilities that are found there including the laundry, games room and children’s play area.

Downstairs in Hare Cottage you’ll find a comfortable double bedroom next to a large shower room with WC and basin. Also downstairs is the open plan living area with television, DVD & CD player and the fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher. As with our other cottages, heating is by way of electric storage heaters with an immersion heater for the water. Upstairs is a twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom with bath, WC and basin. There is also a charming single bedroom that shares the shower room downstairs.

This was our 3rd visit to Hare Cottage and Kirkwood. We went with friends this time as we always find it relaxing, peaceful and a good place to unwind and recharge.
One friend enjoyed long cycle rides from the farm to the coast and the rest of us had long walks to the river and around the farm in general, also playing snooker, darts and table tennis in the games room.
As previously the cottage was clean, comfortable and fully equipped for a week's stay. Anthony was on hand to answer any questions if we had any questions or concerns but generally guests are left to enjoy the surroundings.
As it was Jubilee week we did indulge in many hours of royal tv watching and all in all it was a lovely break.

The whole family loved their stay with Kirkwood Cottages and no one wanted to go home. It was so peaceful and away from the crowds. The girls loved roaming around the beautiful estate on their bikes freely. Walks to the river to spot wildlife was a treat. Great thanks to Anthony and family for all their help, the girls particularly enjoyed feeding the animals with Anne. We loved it! Xx

Really lovely place, on a courtyard with 4 other houses. We were 2 families in a house each and there were 3 other families in the other houses. Kids all played together outside and in the sports room which is fab for poor weather.
Quad biking was great fun and the hosts were really friendly and happy to help with anything we needed. Definitely recommend

Spent a week in Hare Cottage - just me & my husband - booked as a last minute break.
Welcomed by staff on site when we arrived and cottage was clean, nicely decorated and warm.
Alison called in the next morning & gave us lots of info about the farm, the surrounding area, places to visit & things to do on the farm.
On arrival we were left biscuits, tea, coffee & milk which was very welcoming after a long drive & before we went shopping.
During the week we walked around the farm & down to the river where we chatted to the fishermen.
The weather was exceptionally good which we took advantage of as much as possible taking COVID into account.
Visited Annandale distillery, Lockerbie garden of remembrance & Gretna Green outlet village - all within easy reach.
Sue & Antony were very friendly & helpful with any questions we had & we bought half a hogget of lamb to bring home at the end.
Never tried the games room as we used most of the time to have a good rest and enjoy the fresh air, peace and quiet.
Would recommend even if not to fish as we used the time to recharge our batteries in unusual times.

A really pleasant cottage, great value for money and perfect for exploring the surrounding area. The games room was fun and walks exceptional.

Pleasant stay in a relaxing cottage away from it all.2 adults 2 teenage girls and a 6yr old boy.
Highlight for the girls was quad biking.so good we done it twice thank you Allison.
Games room was a hit.
Sam an Anthony where very accommodating.
Would recommend and stay again.

Booked Hare and Otter for four days with my three children and their families Otter had room for all 11 of us to eat meals together. We especially enjoyed Games Room, Playground and Quad Bikes. The location is beautiful and very peaceful. Lovely outings to Caerlaverock Castle, Moffat and Rockcliffe. Excellent Thai Pub and Restaurant within walking distance.

For someone who has 2 grades of enjoyment, 'not good' and 'ok' I've now got three. I've just included 'smashing' into my vocabulary. Next years visit already booked. Need I say any more?

Had a short break at Kirkwood and the owner and staff were not only welcoming but also helpful and went out of way to make sure we had everthing we needed for our stay. Excellent fishing we caught 2 sea trout and had a great couple of days on the riverbank. Will definitely go again next year for longer stay . accommodation was really comfortable, clean and well equipped.
