We were working nearby, 4 of us, and this accommodation suited us perfectly ... peace, quiet, comfort, freedom, and everything provided for a self catering relaxed stay .. The stunning location and proximity to our work was an added bonus ... Highly Recommended ..
This was our 3rd visit to Hare Cottage and Kirkwood. We went with friends this time as we always find it relaxing, peaceful and a good place to unwind and recharge. One friend enjoyed long cycle rides from the farm to the coast and the rest of us had long walks to the river and around the farm in general, also playing snooker, darts and table tennis in the games room. As previously the cottage was clean, comfortable and fully equipped for a week's stay. Anthony was on hand to answer any questions if we had any questions or concerns but generally guests are left to enjoy the surroundings. ...more
Field/countryside views as far as the eye can see. Lovely cottage. Clean. Spacious. Good central heating system. Lots of light & more beautiful views due to skylights in the upside down living arrangement (bedrooms downstairs). Brilliant games room. Laundry room also in the courtyard of cottages. Ample parking. Slight negative: tracks to the cottages are rough/bumpy but that’s only to be expected seeing as it’s a working farm offering lots of activities to do. 10 minutes drive to the nearest shop so be prepared to go shopping whilst on your way there. Friendly, welcoming staff who are contacta...more
Pleasant stay, although quite basic, it suited our needs well. Nice location, we used the lodge as a base on a fishing holiday.
Our second stay in Roe Deer Cottage - we had a brilliant time again - hosts Anthony and Anne very welcoming and helpful. Set in a wonderful peaceful location for fantastic woodland walks that lead down to the river, literally on the doorstep - did some more exploring this time. We enjoyed fishing, feeding the lambs and chickens & the children played together outside. For any rainy days the games room is very handy for table tennis! Having said that we were really lucky with the weather and there are lots of great days out not too far away - 7 Stanes mountain biking and Rockcliffe beach. Hig...more
Lovely places to visit, excellent walks through the woods and estate. Lucky enough for cloudless night skies, amazing star watching. All staff we met were helpful and fun. Very peaceful early morning coffee in garden was a lovely start to our busy days exploring.
Set off the beaten track in lovely woodland, the cottage was perfect for our need to get away from it all. Lovely walks along the river each evening and a real fire to come back to. Slightly more than we usually pay but it wouldn't put me off returning.
