We stayed at Penny's cottage for 7 days during the October half term and was certainly not disappointed. Karl was very welcoming, and the cottage was cosy and immaculate with outstanding views. Everything is clean and tidy and the grounds are well maintained. I would highly recommend and have already booked our return for next year.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at Cartole cottages and the second time in Pennys. Our daughter was 2 this year and loved using all the play equipment in the gardens, especially the Wendy house with play kitchen in. The washing facilities are great with a washer and dryer. The cottage itself is lovely and comfortable with everything you’d need. We requested a stair gate and bed guard and these were provided. Karl is brilliant and really makes sure your stay is everything you want it to be. The ground are well looked after. The cottages are a short drive to Looe or Polperro. We look forward to visiting again.

We have enjoyed staying at Cartole several times and our recent stay was similarly delightful. The cottages are cosy, clean and well-equipped and the beds are super-comfortable. Karl and Miles are wonderful hosts. The location is perfect with many places to visit nearby and it is also a great base to explore Cornwall! Definitely recommend!

What a great cottage to base yourself for a tour around Cornwall. We loved Penny Cottage, spotlessly clean and well provisioned for our 4 nights. Plenty of space for the two of us and parking right alongside our cottage.
The hosts we great communicators and really welcomed us and gave some great advice re restaurants and shopping.
We'll be booking again next year for sure.

This is the third time we have stayed in Cartole Cottages but the first time staying in Penny’s. It was perfect for us and our 1 year old. Karl was able to provide a bed guard and a stair gate which was really helpful. The play area is lovely and really good for all ages. Our 1 year old loved the swings, trampoline and the Wendy house with a play kitchen in. Karl checked in with us regularly to see how we were and that everything was ok. The location is perfect for a short drive into Looe or Polperro. There’s more than enough to do in the area. Looking forward to staying again in the future. The cottages suit couples and families alike.

We had a fabulous stay, for the second year running. The property was first rate, clean, comfortable and well equipped with plenty of parking and large outdoor seating area. We had such a lovely week at Cartole. The cottage was clean and well equiped. Beds were comfy and it was so dark and quiet in the night that we had the best sleep!
The location was lovely and peaceful with plenty of places to visit nearby.
Karl and Miles we're welcoming and helpful, and do a great job managing the cottages.
Highly recommended, we hope to stay again.

We had a fantastic stay at Penny’s Cottage - small (as described) but cosy! A real
warm welcome from hosts with everything we needed in the cottage for the week. Excellent location with beautiful beaches nearby, would highly recommend Lansallos Beach, a hidden beauty spot and dog friendly. A great set up at Cartole with easy access to Fowey (car ferry), Looe & Portperro.

Cartole Cottages is an absolute gem in the Cornish firmament. Simple booking process and Karl's exemplary advance information enabled effective pre-holiday planning to ensure we got the maximum benefit from our break.

Beautiful gardens combined with an enclosed and safe field where our dogs could safely exercise and run to their heart's content provided wonderful outdoor amenities, together with the sun-trap patio for memorable barbeques in the evening.

The cottages are well appointed and furnished and the mattresses and bedding are excellent, ensuring good night's sleep after busy days!

Pelynt is nothing to write home about, but the access the the coast and the wonderful coves and beaches outlined in Karl's information pack is excellent.

Karl and MIles are superb hosts and available to support and advise, if required.

Once again we enjoyed a lovely week in Cartole cottages. The weather was on the wet side but it absolutely didn't matter. There is so much to do in the area, walking, riding, running or enjoying the attractions. We visited Lanhydrock, Charlestown, Padstow and the always fabulous adrenalin quarry in Likeard. But the best part is being able to return to a lovely cottage in lovely settings. You don't have to go out at all really, you could stay the week enjoying the cottage and grounds. We just like to explore. thanks Karl and Miles for your hospitality.

Our cottage was so well laid out to allow us to relax, eat and cook downstairs with space easily for 4 people. The cottage has beautiful views from the upstairs windows and the only sounds were the birds.
The outside patio and grass area adds a special feeling of space and privacy. Caro’s cottage, next door also shares the lower part of the grass area, but that doesn’t hinder your experience. Our friends were in Caro’s cottage and the set up with the two cottages makes it an idea two family/friends set up.
Miles & Karl were lovely and made sure, in an understated way, that we had everything we needed.
The location of the cottage is perfect for seeing the local sites on day trips.
We can praise this place enough.

What a lovely little cottage Penny Cottage is.
Set in beautiful surroundings with lots of open space around you.
The cleanliness of the cottage was outstanding which I really appreciated having a baby crawl around.

My stay at Penny’s cottage has been great. The cottage its self has been ideal having every thing one needs and more.
The owners Karl and Miles couldn’t have done more to make my stay more comfortable.
I would certainly return and would recommend a stay for anyone looking for a holiday cottage set in a wonderful location.

This was our first time staying at Penny’s Cottage and what a lovely cottage it is. We had a fantastic welcome from Karl who was very friendly, he also provided us with an e-mail giving us lots of local information and on places to visit. It is in a quiet, lovely location but just a short drive from Looe and Polperro. The cottage is lovely and everything was so clean. You have your own parking space and patio area with lovely views of the countryside. We will definitely be visiting again. We can certainly recommend Pennys Cottage.

Our family had a wonderful trip to Penny's House. The owners are on site and there are a small number of other lovely cottages nearby. The grounds are exceptional and very spacious, but each cottage has it's own private area and garden. The facilities, like the laundry room, are free and to a very high standard. There is an amazing barn with sofas, DVDs, and games, but this was closed to COVID 19. The location is brilliant, as it is rural but only a few minutes from Pelynt where there is a really good local shop. The cottage is a few minutes drive to some of the most amazing beaches. For us the quality and attention to detail, the kindness and hospitality of the owners made it. We would highly recommend.

Had a few days spare so decided to pop back to Cartole for 3 nights, 3rd time this year. First time we've stayed in Penny's cottage and it was a delight considering it is the smallest of the 4 person cottages. As always the cottage is perfectly clean and stocked, Carl & Miles are always a delight to see and are the best of hosts. The new barn is just a fantastic addition to the site and has been well thought out to enhance the whole Cartole experience. Cartole is superbly positioned for days trips out, easy routes to Padstow & Newquay, plus close to Looe & Polperro for breakfast or evening meals.
If you want clean, dog friendly, delightful relaxing accommodation in the heart of Cornwall then this is the place.

We recently stayed in Penny's Cottage at Cartole Cottages and were delighted with the cottage, site and with the hosts. The cottage itself was gorgeous, with lovely little features, beautiful layout and decor. All amenities you could want, with a thoughtful touch of tea, milk and biscuits waiting there for our arrival. There is a laundry with loads of DVDs/Books you can borrow - which was great for us as the weather was not kind! - as well as washing machine & dryer for your use. Parking was right outside the door, which was a blessing in the pouring rain! The fields around make for a lovely expansive 'garden' in which to wander and reflect - I dedicated half hour a day to sit and watch the wild bunnies play and to enjoy the silence! Karl & Miles were fab hosts, helping with any queries we had and very friendly and chatty. The play park on site was brilliant for our 4 year old, with loads of cool garden toys, a wonderful playhouse, basketball net, trampoline etc. All in all it was a great place to stay and very good value for money. Would highly recommend and thanks for making a very wet holiday still very enjoyable!

We returned to Cartole cottages after a coupe of years and were not disappointed. We were there for a weekend to celebrate a 50th birthday. The owners are perfect hosts, happy to help with any questions or just to chat. Cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we required. The welcome pack they provide is a very nice thought. There is plenty of space for the kids to play with a designated play area and other grass areas for them to run around. we look forward to returning.

We have recently spent a week on holiday here for my dad's 70th Birthday. We had use of 3 of the cottages and we had a wonderful time that suited our needs. The rural location was perfect for escaping everyday life and our little ones loved playing in the park and roaming around the open grass areas. The owners were a delight and nothing was too much trouble. Penny's cottage is a lovely little cottage. It was spotlessly clean upon our arrival and although small it is perfectly comfortable. The new patio area outside is also excellent. We would definitely recommend staying here and we look forward to returning in the future.

What an amazing place! Wasn't quite sure what to expect but was delighted to find it tucked away down a Cornish country lane in the middle of beautiful, peaceful farmland. Birds everywhere, butterflies, bees-the perfect antidote to fast living, and we really felt immersed in the countryside, it was so peaceful.

The cottage was really comfortable with some nice touches for the price such as good quality bed linen and a very well stocked kitchen, including digital kitchen scales and enough pyrex to sink a battleship. Our holidays revolve around mealtimes so for me this added that little bit extra value. Couldn't fault the cleanliness of the place on arrival-we even got a welcome basket of (mostly Cornish) goodies! Our cottage also had separate areas for eating and watching TV so we always felt like we had heaps of space-we spent most of the time outside but this would matter in winter or on rainy days.

We were lucky to have perfect weather while we were there and loved the private terrace/patio looking out onto the fields, looked around the other cottages and seems like all of them have their own terrace area. Even hanging out the washing was a pleasure in a paddock wading through knee-deep grass like something out of 'The Waltons' (we live in Australia where you only approach knee-deep grass in full body armour).

A surprise was the cottage 'welcome' folder-usually these are filled with breathtakingly dull or outdated information but this one included a lot of actually useful info such as current tide times, local beach information (don't miss Lansallos beach and Lantic Bay, they are a drive and then a walk but worth it-in fact just the walk to the beach is worth it, stunning) and, astoundingly, detailed info on what to look for in the night sky and times of meteor showers during the year. Impressive that the hosts have taken the time to get all this together. The restaurant and shopping recommendation also proved to be reliable with the ones we tested-make sure you try the sausages from the unprepossessing village store in Pelynt, they are sensational. There is, oddly, a butchers at the back of the shop. Go and check it out.

Also couldn't fault the custmer service. The hosts were really accommodating and always had time to chat despite seemingly in the middle of house renovations themselves. One day when the iron in the cottage stopped working they got a new one to us within hours. We could have done without an iron of course but the pleasant and prompt response was much appreciated.

In short, I highly recommend the place as somewhere to recharge as well as soak up the beauty of the Cornish countryside. We were there in the sweet spot of summer just before the school holidays start but the cottage seemed easily comfortable enough for a winter break as well. We'll be back!

Immaculate little cottage with everything we needed and more. Our two girls (4 and 2) were thrilled with the expanse of grass immediately outside the cottage where they could run around, and the play area is extremely well equipped. We (the adults!) loved how peaceful it is there, and it is a great base from which to explore that part of Cornwall. Very much hope to return!

Just returned from a lovely stay at Penny’s cottage. We have stayed in three different cottages now and they are all clean, well equipped and comfortable. We met the new owners, Karl and Miles who were so friendly and are making lots of enhancements (including a family game room next year) to the already excellent facilities. We enjoyed meals at the Plough in Duloe (recommended by the cottage owners) and the Jubilee Inn in nearby Pelynt. I’d definitely recommend the Blue Peter inn in Polperro. We look forward to seeing all the new changes next year hopefully.

We have stopped at Cartole cottages many times it is the perfect location for us. Quiet, safe and extremely relaxing. Near to many attractions, not far from the North Cornish Coast. The play area is ideal for children with bikes provided and many toys, a safe and happy environment. Coastal walks, beach walks, woodland walks. Nearby Downderry Beach perfect for beach walks
with dogs allowed and wonderful flora on the cliffs, also good walk to Polperro from Looe on coastal path, with several beaches in between, and cafes hotel at Talland for refreshment. Not far from Fowey and within reach of the beautiful cities of Truro and Plymouth. Yes we will keep returning to Cartole and the warn welcome we always recieve from Geoff and Steff and the dogs.

All the family enjoy another great stay in penny's cottage,we all enjoyed watching the bats flying around at dusk and we have never seen so many tadpoles in the pond on our evening walks.The children love playing in the play area in a safe and friendly environment .We can't wait to return soon.

It was lovely to lie in bed and listen for the "silence" and hear the owls at night. The location was perfect for Looe, Polperro and surrounding areas, our longest drive was about 30 minutes! The whole site was thoughtfully planned out with a play area for visiting children and a field for dogs. We couldn't have asked for more.

We enjoyed our stay, my son loved the dogs, would recommend. Close to nice beaches, plenty to do for my young son. Geoff was very helpful in sorting out Eden Project tickets and lending me a small screwdriver to build my son's model.

Once again we returned to Cartole Cottages where we have stayed for many years, we always enjoy returning here as we know it's always kept to a high standard,cottages are comfortable and homely and Geoff & Steph are fantastic hosts and always on hand to offer advice on you stay in Cornwall. Our children love the play park and bikes that are available for there use.We can't wait to return again for another fantastic stay .

Penny's is a very clean and comfortable cottage. Situationed at a big lawn. There are bikes and a playground for the children. The beds were maked up. Tea and cookies on the table as a warm welcome.
Good situated: Looe and Polperro are nearby, but we have also visited Land's End.

This was our 3rd time at this location and will come back again and tells you enough about how satisfied we are.
The owner's are very helpful and friendly and our dog loved the daily runs in the field with a special mowed track at the back of Cartole cottages.
Location is just perfect for daily sightseeing for most of Cornwall sights. Furthermore golf at Landryhock and at Looe golfclub nearby made it a very enjoyable holiday.

the cottage was excellent, everything was perfectly clean and we enjoyed our holidays in Pelynt. Steph and Geoff where very kind and helped us with all our issues. We where impressed by the securitiy features like fire alarm, fire extinquishers and safety light, better standard than in Germany - perfect.
