In a peaceful, once traditional fishing village, tucked away from the coast road yet within easy walking distance of shops, pubs, fish and chip shop and a lovely sandy beach - perfect for surfing or sunbathing! Walma has become a firm favourite with our holidaymakers over the years. A perfect retreat for family and friends.

Walma, East Runton - needs some attention. Lovely touches - wine as welcome. Photos enhance it.

CLEANLINESS OK but could be improved: eg. skirting boards, and areas between bed and bedside table very dusty. Spiders on bathroom ceiling. Skirting by toilet grubby. I know that there is a quick turn around with holiday lets but this property would certainly have benefited from a deep clean. The dust was not helpful as I suffer from dust/pollen/hay fever.

COMFORT generally good. Beds were comfy. Bucket chairs in TV room not comfy and more chairs needed. OK for 2 guests but more needed for 4-6 guests. Sofas were comfortable but old and tatty - perhaps cover/blanket could be provided to save settees if visitors have a dog. The presentation of the beds was good and bedding was clean. However, I do question the lack of a mattress protector and pillow protectors.

CONDITION - needs attention. Garden was very overgrown and patio table shown on photos was mouldy and propped up in a corner. Garden gates are rotten and drive gates are old. It is not suitable as a safe area to let dogs out as the lack of drive gates etc. do not provide an enclosed, safe space. First impressions were not good. The kitchen was well stocked however and there were many lovely touches with all the necessary cleaning products provided for washing up etc. - and there was a very welcome bottle of wine with two glasses laid out - much appreciated. A small vacuum cleaner would be helpful if visitors would like to clean up a little, especially for sand that gets trodden in.
The bathroom mirror is not suitable being propped up behind the sink on the window sill making it difficult to draw the blind. A proper wall mounted mirror or bathroom cabinet is needed. Paint peeling off the window sill.

LOCATION - excellent. Only a few minutes walk to the beach, pubs, fish and chip shop and local store. There is also a Butcher's shop. It is perfectly located for walks along the beach to Cromer and Sheringham.

VALUE FOR MONEY - I have stayed in better accommodation for the price.
I hope that my comments will be seen as positive and not negative criticism. This could be a fantastic holiday let but is very disappointing in its current state. I do hope that some of my suggestions might be taken on board. There were many positives but also too many negatives for my liking.

I booked this property as I had stayed here before, and its situated on a quiet private road, near to the beach, with a garden to sit out in, and central for visiting various places on the coast. This made it ideal as I was taking my elderly mother with me. However, our peaceful holiday was spoilt by the building work taking place on both neighbouring properties, the one directly opposite and another at the end of the road. I was woken each morning, by the sound of cement mixers, angle grinders, drilling, hammering, radios, shouting etc, which went on all day. Just as annoying were the number of vans and cars parked everywhere. If I had been made aware that I would effectively be holidaying in the middle of a building site I would not have booked this property.

This is a constructive review - not a moan! We have had a lovely stay at the house and have had a lovely holiday. Would we go back to walma? Absolutely!! If……..
- there were comfier chairs in the television room, the garden was a little more secure for the dog and maybe some instructions on how to use the hob (all the visual clues have been worm away from the hob itself. Whilst they are small things to fix, a safe pooch and a comfy bottom are quite important to us .

I took my mother to Norfolk as part of her 80th Birthday celebrations. Walma is a good sized, well laid out property, on a quiet private road in a beautiful part of Norfolk. The garden, although a little overgrown, is a sun-trap for much of the day. I chose this property because it has a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and the stairs are a little steep.

Comfortable accommodation set on an extremely quiet private road with a good sized rear garden which has once been someones pride and joy although now a little overgrown.

A gentle 20 minute stroll into Cromer or you can walk into Sheringham in about 1 hour. There is a bus service at the end of the road which appeared quite regular although we didn't use it as we preferred to walk. East Runton has a small convenience store which sells newspapers etc and there is a pub and a take away fish shop.

What a lovely cottage, ideally situated with a lovely warm atmosphere. The beds were comfy ,the kitchen was everything we needed Only a couple of things, the sofas are due an update and the television would be better in the lounge as only two small chairs in the snug. It would be difficult for six adults. However it didn't spoil our holiday and we loved sitting by the patio doors watching greenfinches, goldfinches ,blackbirds and a baby robin in the garden. East Runton itself has lovely walks on common land and has views from the cliffs towards Cromer. There is a handy shop and pub and chippy within a few minutes walk of Walma. The beach access is a bit steep but the beach is clean and great for a good walk or just to watch the fishing boats come in.

Lovely property in a quiet location, however the garden is very overgrown. The property could also do with better cleaning. The dust in areas was terrible and obviously been there some time and lots of cobwebs on the walls! Window sills outside were black and hadn’t been cleaned for some time! Beds were uncomfortable and the single beds squeaked terribly!
