Great location for exploring the area. Cottage was well equipped and good layout. Will be back in better weather when more local attractions are open.

Enjoyed a fantastic stay over Christmas in this comfortable cottage. Ideal base for the best of North Yorkshire and great walks straight from the front door. Facilities and hosts could not have been better!

We all thoroughly loved our week in the Beaver cottage. The place was spotless and well equipped with everything you need. The open plan aspect made it feel roomy and safe for the 2 year old (with the stair gate). A ‘welcome basket’ was a lovely touch. The layout was perfect for us, grandparents slept upstairs with mum and dad and children downstairs. The swimming pool, play park and tennis courts were enjoyed by all. The location was a bit cut off but a good distance for car journeys to Thirsk (races) , Northallerton (Betty’s tearoom) and Lightwater Valley theme park. We’d love to go back one day.

Sorry you felt a bit 'cut off' -but as a guide to future guests, we think our location is one of the best aspects of Old Oak .... stunning views, peace and quiet, extremely safe for children yet only 5 minutes by car to our local market town of Thirsk, which has everything you need ..... independent shops, 3 large supermarkets, bakers, butchers and many restaurants etc etc. Many thanks again Amanda

This was our 2nd stay at Old Oak Cottages, and again we had a wonderful holiday! The cottages are all very clean and well equipped, and the welcome basket is great, and appreciated. The pool and the play area are brilliant for children, our grandson particularly loved the pool (although the pool could be a bit warmer, we all found it quite chilly)!
There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, even in the wind and rain!!!

Sorry you found the pool a little cold .... maybe the outside temperatures during your stay made it seem a little cooler! The pool is set to run at a constant 29.5c which is recommended for swimming by our pool technician. Once again, thank you

As a frequent visitor to Old Oak Cottages we are always amazed how every update to surroundings and/or facilities is tailored to individual cottages work so well. The warm, welcoming manner of the owners adds to the relaxed feeling of being somewhere special - with no intrusion, even though the cottages are adjacent to a working farm.

We visited Old Oak Cottages some 19 years ago and had always wanted to return, at last we did on a cold, wet and grey week in March.

The cottages are as beautiful, immaculately clean and comfortable, and Amanda and John's welcome is as warm as ever. The pool is wonderful, and I swam every day of the 7 days we were there. The setting is idyllic, peaceful and rural, but very close to the amenities of Thirsk and on main routes for the North and coastal towns. Despite terrible weather, we visited different places every day, the James Herriot Museum, the Wensleydale Railway, Fountains Abbey( on the one dry day) , Helmsley, Betty's at Northallerton, and Ripon, and had a wonderful time.

We really didn't want toleave and are already planning our next visit. Thank you to Amanda, John and Amy for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Superb stay in Beaver Cottage. Excellent location in a beautiful part of Yorkshire.
The swimming pool was well used by the younger members of the party.
As always we felt at home at Old Oak as we have been many times.

What a beautiful part of the country. Beaver cottage was a dream… clean, warm, charming with everything we needed for a family break.swimming pool fantastic bonus. Lovely walks and a tennis court.Owners on hand should they be needed and were lovely. We will definitely go back again
