FIRST FLOOR - VERY LARGE MASTER BEDROOM WITH KING SIZE BED AND EN-SUITE BATHROOM WITH BATH AND SHOWER. WC. AMAZING VIEWS.

LARGE TWIN ROOM WITH EN-SUITE SHOWER ROOM. SINGLE BEDROOM.

PRIVATE GARDEN WITH ACCESS FROM THE LOUNGE.

We had a lovely stay, as usual! Not our first time at Old Oak Cottages and definitely won't be our last.
We had a broad age range within our group and found the facilities were excellent - the pool was great and our older members found it particularly helpful that a double ensuite was on the ground floor. The hamper was a very welcome touch.
Thank you so much for having us, it was just what we needed!

We recently had a lovely last-minute stay at Old Oak Cottages, and it was every bit as good as I had hoped. This destination had been on my list of places to visit for a while, after reading a glowing review, and it definitely did not disappoint!

The cottage itself was gorgeous and well-equipped, providing everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is brilliant, and we were particularly impressed with the stunning view of the White Horse of Kilburn from the garden and master bedroom panoramic window—waking up to that was truly a treat! Amanda was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.

Our children loved the on-site swimming pool, outdoor play area and football pitch. We also enjoyed a game of tennis and appreciated the rackets and balls provided. The only thing that could make the site even better would be the addition of a play barn/ games room for indoor play, especially on rainy days.

One small suggestion would be to have the option to choose a swimming time slot rather than being allocated one, as it would offer a bit more flexibility. The master bedroom could also benefit from blackout blinds or dark curtains to keep the early morning light out, which would make the stay even more comfortable.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would love to come back. Thank you, Old Oak Cottages, for a memorable getaway!

Thank you for your lovely review on your recent stay in Pheasant cottage it is really appreciated. Noted re black out blinds - we are about to have some fitted! We have tried adding 'booking swimming slots' but it wasn't very successful - so now we have the allocated daily time slots plus a daily communal slot - which on the whole is proving more successful, but it is something we keep monitoring. A lovely quiet rural location set on a working farm. Fantastic views across the area with the White Horse on the hill visible from the bedroom windows. Clean, spacious and comfortable with country cottage decor and open brick work. Small garden to sit or for children to play with added bonus of play park and tennis courts plus shared access (with private slots) to a swimming pool.

Prefect location for a family holiday both in terms of the accommodation and the surrounding areas, a great launch pad to many activities.

Friendly hosts, free range chickens, lots of sheep, a goat and a pony. Kind gesture of a great welcome hamper. Lots of towels, toilet rolls, cleaning products, tea, coffee etc Can even get an online shop delivered.

Not at all an issue for us but quite a long walk for small children if hoping to walk to local pub. Many great traditional pubs locally with a very helpful list left by hosts along with lots of tourist leaflets to guide choices.

So good we’ve booked to go back before we even left!

We had a wonderful week at Pheasant Cottage with our family to celebrate our 70th birthdays. Our two year old granddaughter loved the playground and feeding the chickens, and we had several trips out - so many things to do locally without travelling far. We loved Newby Hall with amazing gardens and the little train ride. Also Mount Grace Priory.
The cottage was clean, quiet, comfortable and very spacious - would definitely do it all again!

We had another lovely stay at Old Oak Cottages, it was our second visit. John and Amanda are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We got the most beautiful welcome hamper full of local goodies. Seven of us stayed in Pheasant and it was just the right size for us.

It was a real bonus to have the washer and drier when we have kids. The pool is lovely and we used it most days. Sometimes the pool times don't work around days out so it would be great if there was a way for other cottages to mark to say they won't be using their slot in some way so others have more options.

We also used the tennis court which is great fun and a great facility. Unfortunately when we were there the weather had been bad for a prolonged period so the playground was too soggy but that couldn't be helped..

We love the location and it's our place to get away with extended family and I'm sure we will be back.

The cottage is nicely decorated with attractive furnishings and as before when we stayed was spotless.A nice touch was the Christmas tree as we had two small boys in our party.The hamper was a really nice touch with quality produce which we enjoyed.
The swimming pool is an added attraction especially if children are in your party.
Oak cottages are within easy reach of Thirsk,York & Castle Howard.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Old Oak Cottages and the family that own and manage consistently excel in their provision of quality housing, decor and kitchen, bathroom and all other items which add to your enjoyment. Added to this and the generous food hamper they provide, there is also access to a very nice swimming pool and wonderful countryside. The icing on the cake was the Xmas tree. Top class !

Fabulous week for all 7 of us. The pool and playground were the star attractions. Especially as we had a timed slot for the pool just for our cottage.
The area is great with lots of day time attractions.
