We stayed over Christmas and everything about Montagu Cottage was perfect for a festive break. Walking into the warm and welcoming cottage, with a lovely tree and decorations, curling up in front of the log fire, soaking in the lovely bath after a frosty walk and snoozing in the most comfortable bed ever made it into a wonderful family get together. And you also managed to provide glorious sunny frosty weather which just made the views even more stunning. We shall certainly be back.
A family get together to celebrate a big birthday made more special by the comfortable, well appointed cottage. Clean and bright with all mod cons and spotlessly clean. Hot tub was an added bonus and fun to stoke fire to heat it. Was a luxury to sit in the bubbles while taking in beautiful landscape. Family enjoyed a tour of castle with the very knowledgeable Stuart topped off with a roast beef dinner in cafe. Dogs were welcome and enjoyed the walks down the river. All in all a very special break. We will recommend to others.
We stayed at the laundry cottage got 3 nights with our family to celebrate a 60th birthday. The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The decor is beautiful. We all made good use of the hot tub. There are plenty walks which are well sign posted and allow you to enjoy the amazing scenery. Would definitely recommend the Laundry cottage for a short break.
We were exhibiting at the Christmas Market and decided to stay rather than go to a local hotel. We were blown away by the excellent accommodation, everything was very tastefully done, comfortable and clean. All to a very high standard. There were lots of welcoming extras, a gift baskets with spoil yourself treats. To top it off a Christmas Tree. After a long day at the market we snuggled up on the comfy sofa, in front of the log burner. Cant wait till next year
On arrival, kitchen was left in a very dirty condition. All dishes, cutlery and glasses were very dirty. I had to clean the drawrs and cupboards which were full of detritus. The stairwell is covered in scuff marks where people have banged their cases into the wall, scuffing and marking it. It happens. But here’s the thing, it’s been like that since I first stayed here last August and nobody has bothered to clean it. When you see a wall in a hotel or lodging covered in scuffmarks, it’s a sign of a hotel in decline. It feels that nobody loves this place. Dirty tin foil left in the grill. Th...more
I really love when I stay at the Stable Yard Apartment. It is clean, cosy, and has everything I need. The location is quiet and peaceful, which makes it easy to relax, but still convenient for getting around. The hosts are friendly and easy to communicate with, which makes the whole stay feel effortless. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.
Stunning location. The apartment was cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Had everything you need to enjoy a fabulous stay. Great walks on the doorstep and within a short distance from local shops and restaurants etc.
The lounge furniture in Queensbury is no where near as comfortable as Mains cortage. If you would like to chill out on a winters evening the chairs and sofa in Queensbury are very uncomfortable. We also found the front room very dark - if you like to read or do any craft work it is very difficult in the lighting provided. We brought lamps from upstairs. The bins in both our bathrooms were not emptied and contained sanitary wear and rotten banana skins. When I told baccleugh estate about it they basically said so sorry - hope you come again! We have stayed in Mains cottage in the past and wou...more
