From start to finish, our stay was absolutely fantastic! The booking process was seamless, with the staff offering incredibly helpful and prompt assistance. Upon arrival, we were blown away by the house—it was stunning, spotless, and radiated a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The little touches, like the thoughtful gifties, really added a personal and charming flair to the experience. Though we were sad to leave, we were so impressed that we've already been in touch with the wonderful team at the estate to plan our next visit. Highly recommend.
We arrived at the East Wing of Drumlanrig Castle after a 6-hour motorbike ride from Oxfordshire — a journey that left us a bit saddle-sore but very smug as we rolled up to such a stunning setting. And what a welcome it was. The East Wing is spotless, beautifully decorated, and really well equipped. It feels luxurious without being over the top — the sort of place where you instantly relax and start plotting how to move in permanently. Just returned home after a fabulous week at Slatehouse cottage at Drumlanrig. Cottage was comfortable and clean with plenty of room for our party to relax. The welcome pack containing restoration yard goodies was much appreciated. Plenty of great walks from the cottage for our dog Hugo. Staff on estate were all super friendly and tour of the castle well worth the walk up from the cottage. Highly recommend Slatehouse.
We took both Queensberry and the Mains Cottage next door for a holiday with two friends. Both properties were clean and well appointed with plenty of space. There was lots to do at the Castle and in the wider landscape with woodland, river and hill walks and bike rides. Thornhill is a great town to have on the doorstep with a number of useful and nice shops. Would book again.
Laundry Cottage is beautiful. The bed was very comfortable with lavish furnishings. We enjoyed the welcome pack of coffee, chocolate, chutney, sloe gin & Turkish delight - what a treat?! The location on the Drumlanrig Estate is stunning with lots of walking in all directions. We appreciated the fully enclosed garden for keeping our dog in & it was large enough to throw a ball for him. All the staff we encountered were so helpful & cheerful. Thank you Gillian & the team

We loved our few days at Drumlanrig. Truly a magical place with wonderful walks around the gardens and estate. The nearby village of Thornhill have some lovely coffee shops and restaurants and the people are extremely friendly.
The Stableyard Studio exceeded my expectations. It was beautifully decorated, the kitchen waswell equipped with everything we needed. The location was perfect for long walks and exploring the countryside and it was lovely having the grounds to ourselves when everyone had gone home. The tour of the Castle was excellent, the 2 tour guides were both knowledgable and friendly. I’d highly recommend a stay at the Stableyard Studio or Apartment and also to book on a tour of the Castle if possible. I’ll definitely be back.
