We booked Low Graythwaite Hall in addition to Silverholme Manor for our wedding guests. It is a truly lovely unique property, there is plenty of communal spaces for sharing dinner and drinks with family and friends as well as the private sanctuary of very large comfortable bedrooms. The period features of the house are a wow factor and the little modern touches make it a home from home. Our guests had a lovely time and each one commented on how beautiful the house was and how comfortable the beds were, there is plenty of walking places to take a stroll and see the beauty of the estate and t...more
We had a wonderful week here celebrating big birthdays in our family. The welcome hamper was lovely and everything on arrival was perfect, comfortable rooms fully equipped, plenty of space for each family to enjoy. The youngest member aged 4 was taught chess by his older cousins, it provided hours of unexpected amusement, an example of the extra touches which made this beautiful place a really special holiday. The booking and information prior to arrival was very easy and Vanessa patiently answered all our questions straight away. What else can I say, this isn’t cheap but worth every penny...more
Great Stay , excellent accommodation for 3 generations of our family. We had a really good time but it could have been improved. 1) The on-site shop was closed all week and we had not been informed prior to arrival. This was annoying as it meant we had to shop more off-site. Better communication would have helped. 2) The towel rails and bedroom heating could not be turned on to dry towels etc.Not too major , but the weather was getting colder and damper.Again we would have mentioned it at the shop if it had been open.... and I know we could have called the central office. We would be very ...more
I and my brother in law, had a great time in this part of England. The cottage was great and suited well. We hope to come back soon!
Location perfect right by the lake only a short walk to silverholme where we were attended a wedding which was also in a beautiful location the weather was perfect. The cottage was cosy & well equipped just could have done with a hand rail on the outside steps & a bannister on the bottom of the stairs as we are in our 70s & found it slightly tricky but we had a lovely time & would recommend it lovely having your own lake frontage .
Fantastic location with great facilities. Staff very helpful if needed. Great walks amongst the wildlife.
Comfy cosy quiet base to explore the Lake District Absolutely doggy heaven Would love to return again
Really lovely cottage. There were some minor cosmetic things that needed addressing however, overall it was a lovely cottage. I just wish we have more time to enjoy it and the local area. For the Light the Lakes event though it was very remote, and on our part we needed to plan ahead more with our food and maybe should of had a Tesco's delivery. A couple of times we popped to the shop and it was closed. Poor timing on our part. The fan in the master double room bathroom could do with upgrading as it doesn't extract fast enough, leading to a lot of condensation. It was reported that the...more
Graythwaite has been a firm favourite for the last 35 years and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit again. Crabtree is a lovely apartment with all the usual high quality equipment. Can we please ask however that when the site is updated again some further disabled facilities are included. My mum is is wheelchair and a slope to the front door, rails etc in the shower would have really helped her.
This is an immaculatly clean property which contains all you require for a lovely stay. It is in a gorgeous tranquil location, with complete silence and total darkness. It's fair to say I highlighted a few issues with the patio in general but once those issues where highlighted to Amanda and the maintenance team, they recognised the issues, accepted them and resolved every single issue at light speed. It's the best customer service response I've ever experienced, you are an absolute credit to your organisation.
We had a lovely stay but for the price that cottage would’ve been (we had a heavily discounted price) I wouldn’t have been that pleased with the very poor quality and poor condition of the kitchen utensils, especially pots and pans, strange array of plates (it felt like a jumble of unwanted items cleared out of someone’s house) and bleach stained tea towel. The clock in the kitchen needed a new battery on arrival and it would be nice to leave more than 2 dishwasher tablets for people. The throws in the twin room malted a lot and left green fluff on everything and a second bedside table is need...more
Eel House cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed. Weather was poor so the log burner was lovely of an evening. Nice that both bedrooms had use of their own bathroom and we found the beds comfy. The smart TV was ok once you got used to it, and the wi-fi was great for all our devices. Despite rain for 7 days solid we had a lovely time and found we were in a great location to explore the area.
We’ve had the most wonderful week at Field Head House. All generations - from age 10 to 81 - have thoroughly enjoyed the comfortable and peaceful surroundings. Such a bonus to have two sitting rooms, as well as a well equipped kitchen, grand dining room, two utility rooms, ample bathrooms and four spacious bedrooms. Step free access throughout has been extremely helpful. Watching the wildlife has been a real highlight, as well as walks around the estate. We can understand why so many guests return, also in a very convenient location for everything Windermere has to offer. Many thanks for havin...more
Great for big group. Price considered good per person. Decent amount of wood for burning. Enjoyed log burner. Beds very comfortable. Sitting room cozy and enough sears for all. Drainage in some shower trays blocked. We had to put unblocker down. Hot tub needs flushing through its filters as it smelt unpleasant after 24 hours. Better knives, coffee maker. Fridge in utility not cold enough.
Hilltop was a great cottage that was nice and private with no passing traffic or people. It was a great base to explore the surrounding areas. Everything in the property worked and was ok but it's all a little bit tired and in need of some tlc. I appreciate it is an old cottage but things like the outdoor furniture was broken so unuseable, patio slabs were loose. There is a lovely view of lake windermere but it's blocked by overgrown bushes. The grass wa to overgrown for the kids to play in. It's also all a bit damp inside property. We really enjoyed our stay and would return but it w...more
This was central to our week in the lakes, lovely location, quiet at night, superb wildlife. Useful having a shop on site too!
We have stayed in many holiday homes in the UK and this one is a favourite. The location is fantastic. Just a few minutes walk from the Lake itself where on sunny days you can watch the boats go by all day. The location is remote, which took a while to get used to. We had excellent customer service from Sarah & Paul.
It’s all ok. The electric heating is good and it’s warm and dry which is tricky to achieve in the Lake District. I think the hot water timer should be on the correct time. I didn’t realise that it was set wrong and so we had no hot water in the evening. The internet should be plugged into the mains for arrival. It takes a few mins to warm up and then works. There’s some complex instructions about getting on line (including a promised email that never arrived), would it be easier to just give out the password? The duvet is not warm and it’s quite thin. I think this place is ok i...more
The house was excellent with 6 lovely bedrooms, nice sitting rooms and well equipped modern kitchen. Some minor issues such as a un-useable dishwasher but the fact that the kitchen was Big enough for a second dishwasher made this irrelevant. It rained of coarse and there are signs of damp in a couple of places that need urgent attention. The jacuzzi outside was nice and the location gave us excellent views. There was no or just minor noise from the road below the house but the low flying jets were very load as we watched them cross the forest with a clear and excellent view to the east. Gra...more
Our autumnal family break was much needed and we enjoyed our stay on the Graythwaite estate in the Bullpen cottage.
2 families (4 adults, 4 children) stayed at cunsey lodge, clean, spacious, everything we needed was provided. Great location, lovely views. Excellent base to explore the lake District.
The patio is overlooking the lake and a beautiful place to sit - great furniture. The cottage is well equipped but do take toilet rolls. There are cobwebs everywhere and when I moved the settee cushions it was disgusting with crumbs and rubbish. Two of the towels were worn out. Special request to remove feathers not actioned - claimed not received, first email to ask for help also claimed not received.
Absolutely wonderful stay.. We came up for a family wedding and it was so nice to be able to have accommodation near the rest of the family. The only slight negative point, we would have liked to lit the fire when we arrived as it was cold, but the shop was shut so we couldn't get any logs. but overall a fantastic stay, thank you.
When we received the call from the head office saying that our original cottage was unavailable we feared the worst but the upgrade offered took us 5 minutes to decide...yes. The cottage is beautiful, set almost lake side and ideal for families seeking some peace and quiet. The setting is fine but we were unlucky to get the week when we had a permafrost and the unnamed roads were permanently frozen and lethal. The welcome pack was fine but it should have been checked as the crisps were already open. Support from the office and maintenance team was great when we had boiler trouble. Walks f...more
Grubbings was an ideal spacious cottage for our family get togethers.. It’s in a lovely peaceful situation with great walks on the doorstep, and the swimming pool close by.. We have stayed on the estate several times and will be returning again next year and would recommend it to anyone..
Once again a lovely stay at Windermere.Everywhere beautifully clean and glad to see a bit of TLC had been done to the paintwork, but the fridge needs some attention as lots of bits missing. Will check at Xmas when we return .Otherwise very well appointed with all utensils and very comfortable.
Had a great short break which was enjoyed by all. Tired grandkids and dogs each day as we enjoyed walks on the Estate. This is our 4th visit back to the Graythwaite Estate (each time we’ve stayed in a different property ) and we will return again. Cottage worked well for us, although it was a squeeze in the kitchen when we all sat down to eat. I think had we been 6 adults this would have been very uncomfortable. Access to the swimming pool was an added bonus as on our last visit this was out of action. Great memories made !
Another lovely week at Forge property on your lovely estate. No real complaints, but the lounge carpet could do with a good clean to get out the stains and we really need 2x hand towels, The large bath towels are not a substitute as they are far too big. Please get the hand rail put back in the swimming pool, it’s dangerous climbing out as slippery without it. It’s 4 years on the trot that we’ve been and find it wonderfully relaxing even though the weather/rain was awful
The property is tired and ready for a refresh.we had to ask housekeeping to revisit and clean the kitchen floor, also housekeeping did clear some cobwebs however they were plenty a lot in every room, bathroom mirror light did not work and bathroom door bolt broken and a temporary long screw had been used,so this obviously was not a recent breakage, All of these were reported during visit. Maintenance visited but did nothing Fridge should have a top freezer so that some small items can be keep frozen without going and using the communal freezer. Frigge dor shelf broken but just left in the f...more
We have all returned, again. from staying with Graythwaite on the Esthwaite How Courtyard so relaxed and revived. You can be as active or as laid back as as you like, and the glorious scenery is breathtaking in any weather. We're so grateful to the whole team and will return.
Although just a one bedroom apartment, Loweswater is idyllic for a getaway couple. The main sitting roonm has a ceiling nearly 3m high and feels like a small house, not a cottage. The outlook over parkland was admittedly set off by stunning autumn weather, The barn style covered entrance is ideal for shedding wet clothes, drying dogs etc before entering the kitchen. The ability to pre-order supplies and firewood from the farm shop is so convenient and is safely stored in the house before you arrive. Also enjoyed 4WD course with Graythwaite Adventure
Lovely cottage in a pretty location. Had a few problems with the house but these we rectified really quickly. Enjoyed the private booking system of the swimming pool. The Kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils ,pots pans etc. The shop had essentials and local produce. The games room was a bit of a let could probably do with a revamp Overall we had a very pleasant stay..
A very disappointing stay. Would not recommend. The kitchen is the only room to have been tidied up. Radiators are dodgy. Shower controls broken. Holes in carpet.
We had some nice days in this wonderful environment in a cosy appartement. Giving that the weather also was very nice these days, we ha a wonderful time.
It was very quiet around the courtyard this year with only a few cottages filled. Jubilee cottage was clean when we arrived and any issues we had were dealt with swiftly. We will be back next year .
We stayed to visit Hawkshead Christmas and also the car rally, which was cancelled, we had a great time this year but not as much fun as last year when we were snowed in!
I have given condition a 3, but there is room for improvment in the Estate. Electric Chargers can be marketed to be on site !!!!
Property unclean and in poor condition, carpet was grim, floors were sticky , furniture chipped and in poor condition , decor poor . Kitchen very dark poor lighting , front door difficult to open . Refused to stay , managers response was that we should have contacted them to resolve this matter , we did not want to stay in this property given the conditions or on the estate .
