Lovely location over looking Windermere lake, we even managed a RAF fly by. The Graythwaite team were superb all afternoon.
We were a family of seven so Home Farmhouse offered us the ideal solution for a couple of grandparents and a family of five and their dog. Home Farmhouse was of a high standard. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The facilities in the main house were very good with more than sufficient beds and bathrooms for five and a dog. The annex had a cosy, small bedroom with a good-sized bathroom and a very reasonable sized walk-in shower. The annex lacked coat hooks for those inevitable wet coats in the lake district, plus no towel rails for wet towels. For such a large property, and typical of so m...more
Lovely cottage with good sized bedrooms & bathrooms. Plenty of space in fridge/freezer for self catering. Games room was a bit dated and could do with a revamp and its a shame the pool timetable ended at 7pm. Even though the cottage info said the water was okay to drink, it was very yellow!
I and my brother in law, had a great time in this part of England. The cottage was great and suited well. We hope to come back soon!
Beautiful and peaceful location. Ideal for paddleboarding , Kayaking and exploring. Could do with a sign to deter walkers from wandering around the grounds!
This is the third time we have stayed at Grasmere and as usual we had an exceptionable stay in a beautiful location. I was a little upset that access to the lake has now been fenced off and we were not informed but I guess you had your reasons.Hot tap could do with a tighten and kitchen bin lid needs fixing but apart from that all was excellent Thanks for an enjoyable relaxing stay at your beautiful property
Great stay, iideal for a large family gathering and very useful having the cottage too, would recommend.
We have stayed here many times and we love it. It's idyllic in the summer months and ideal for adults and children who love watersports. It's equally lovely earlier in the year and we spent two very memorable Christmases here. Highly recommended.
This was our fourth stay at Keepers Cottage, so we knew exactly what to expect in terms of location and amenities. We keep coming back because the cottage offers everything we need, and it's great to be able to just walk out the door and explore the surrounding estate; or head down to the lake and walk along to the West Windermere Way. The upgrade of the Internet from ADSL to Starlink was very welcome, as it made streaming TV practical. It was also great to see that the kitchen has accumulated various useful items over the years; what was once a bit spartan now feels more like home from ...more
Really enjoyed our stay nice and relaxing only thing I would add is if you could sign post walks around the estate more
The house is well appointed, comfortable and ideal for children and families with a dog. While it is a lovely house it’s not too highly polished to worry about living in it with bad weather or children running about. There are old pieces of furniture that are close to the repair man needing to be called and the odd zip needs sorting on the tv room sofa but it’s great. The walk in wardrobe should be a bathroom or a family suite as a suggestion. Amanda in the estate office was very helpful and the shop has a great selection of wines s d a very helpful gentleman operating it. We will be returnin...more
We had a wonderful week in the cosy and authentic cottage in the countryside. It is very comfortable and the private terrace with the superb view across the fields and fell beyond provided us with peace and joy. It is a good place for trips around the lakes and walking the fells. Also Beatrix Potters Cottage is around the corner. You will need a car to get around. We would like to come back to this beautiful and tranquil spot.
This is my first time at Dove Cottage after 28 years of staying in different Graythwaite cottages. Dove cottage was recommended to us by the lovely lady who made our booking . We have been blown away with the view from the Hot Tub The cottage is much bigger than we expected, with everything you need ! We are so happy here we have booked 8 days in September We also have use of the swimming pool, with a lovely 5-minute walk and views to get there.
Eel House was everything we expected and more! Ideal peaceful location. We have booked again - October 2026 Thankyou to the Graythwaite Team for the cleanliness of the Cottage, the delicious hamper and all the lovely little extras!
The accommodation was perfect for us location just one thing to note the water pressure on the shower is low! However this didn’t bother us!
We spend 5 wonderful days in the hilltop cottage. It was very spacious for 2 adults and two tweens. It was very well equipped. The hot tub was a treat. Nearby a lot of sights by car.
Can brow and the whole estate is magical and a gem we found. I am so much coming back and recommend it to my friends.
Firstly a big shout this year to the housekeeping team who are amazing. Thank you! Also a thanks to Sarah. This is our second trip to Mill Cottage and it's a firm family favourite. We as a family really enjoy the estate, and are always on or by the water,or up a hill. The Merlin Bird App has also provided some entertainment this year with a book and some binos. Can recommend the boat trip to see the Osprey's from Esthwaite. A trip past Rawlinson Nab in the evening is one of our favourite things to do. It's a magical place. Noticeably, we saw more wildlife on the estate this year compared t...more
We had a fabulous week at Cunsey lodge, and would definitely recommend the lodge(recently refurbished to a very high standard). We loved the quality of the towels, bedding and the kitchen was very well fitted with plenty of utensils/equipment. We did have a problem with shower screens - really not sure why but a we called the estate office and they went above and beyond to solve the problem immediately. Excellent 5 star customer service. The hot tub although i was dubious about having to use a log burner to warm it was - was so easy to use. We will definitely return to the Graithwaite es...more
The location is stunning with lots of beautiful countryside all around ideal for walking & mountain biking . The accommodation suited our needs perfectly with the bonus of a swimming pool to cool off & relaxing after the days adventures . As a large group we also went on several of the activities on the estate , clay pigeon , 4x4 , Rib adventure on Windermere . The whole group thoroughly enjoyed the activities the instructors were excellent + we had some great coaching , we will be back .
Fabulous location, perfect for our family wedding at the big house by the lake. Very comfortable cottage. Everything was perfect.
Overall this cottage is great, as you would expect from Graythwaite, with whom we have booked many times. There are some minor issues - some damp, rusty kitchen knives and the TV is old and not the advertised smart TV. Otherwise it’s a lovely cottage in a great location. Very comfortable and delightfully cool in hot weather. We’ve stayed in the adjoining cottage as well and would happily return to either. Please invest in some decent knives and a modern TV though.
Had a brilliant time with my friends this past week. The hot tub was a fan favourite, although it did take a while to heat up. There was a strange eggy smell that was apparent at times from the drains in the early parts of the week, but we called the team and I think they managed to sort it. We enjoyed going on walks along the Graythwaite property, meandering our way down to the lakeside to enjoy skimming stones and feeding the ducks. The pool was very fun and I only wish we had more time to spend there. There were a few technical problems like windows not opening properly or lamps not working...more
Generally v positive; minor niggles are lack of toiletries, would have been good to know this in advance, and suspect many may prefer milk rather than beer in welcome pack, but minor issues overall.
Although our stay was very short we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the cottage. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed including champagne glasses. Spacious and comfortable
Hi there - we were very happy with our stay here, thanks, our second visit. I do feel I should let you know that one morning we went for brunch at the Boat Shed Cafe (which you mentioned in an email is run by the same people as this accommodation). Our daughter (25) had a chicken and leek pie and later had a nasty bout of food poisoning. She remembers the chicken as being pink and looking undercooked, but at the time thought 'this was the bacon part of the pie'. She recovered after one day but was very poorly. Could you let the cafe know? Thanks, everything else was lovely Sue
The cottage was very cute and had great space and services (pool, on site shop, kitchen tools). Our concern was the excess of spiders inside the unit that seem to be left to multiply; it is of course in the woods and an older property which we kept in mind (and why we booked). Also there was a wet, used towel in one of the bedrooms when we checked in.
We enjoyed our family stay at Graythwaite; our cottage was very clean and well-appointed. A good base for the Lakes. We really enjoyed archery and axe throwing, and our boat trip. The swimming pool could have been warmer!
Bibby Lot is a self-catering property for up to six people. It has six beds (and even two refrigerators!), but we found the dining table and the space around it weren't really large enough for us to sit and eat together comfortably (and we're not large), particularly if someone needed to get to the stove or the fridge. As is often the case with self-catering properties, the kitchen equipment was a bit of a mismatch: mystery lids, a largest saucepan of only 2 litres, a pizza cutter but no bottle opener, and several items that had seen better days. This was surprising because the kitchen itself ...more
The property is tired and ready for a refresh.we had to ask housekeeping to revisit and clean the kitchen floor, also housekeeping did clear some cobwebs however they were plenty a lot in every room, bathroom mirror light did not work and bathroom door bolt broken and a temporary long screw had been used,so this obviously was not a recent breakage, All of these were reported during visit. Maintenance visited but did nothing Fridge should have a top freezer so that some small items can be keep frozen without going and using the communal freezer. Frigge dor shelf broken but just left in the f...more
It was the perfect location for a special family holiday for all ages and interests. Relaxing by lake Windermere, kids swimming in the pool, free fishing on the estate and beautiful walks and locations to explore locally, with a warm, comfortable and spacious lounge to return to each evening. Just what we needed
Although just a one bedroom apartment, Loweswater is idyllic for a getaway couple. The main sitting roonm has a ceiling nearly 3m high and feels like a small house, not a cottage. The outlook over parkland was admittedly set off by stunning autumn weather, The barn style covered entrance is ideal for shedding wet clothes, drying dogs etc before entering the kitchen. The ability to pre-order supplies and firewood from the farm shop is so convenient and is safely stored in the house before you arrive. Also enjoyed 4WD course with Graythwaite Adventure
The cottage has everything we need, beds are comfortable and the cottage is very warm. We will definitely stay again.
The location is stunning, the farm shop is lovely and the staff we interacted with on site were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there are a few things in the cottage that could do with some work. There is a floorboard missing in the kitchen, part of the tap in one of the bathrooms is broken etc. The pressure in the showers was exceptionally low, and both refillable soap dispensers were completely empty. We booked the pool for 10:30 on Saturday, and when we attempted to enter using the code, the door was locked, and the office number was closed meaning we could not enter the pool to sw...more
We stayed to visit Hawkshead Christmas and also the car rally, which was cancelled, we had a great time this year but not as much fun as last year when we were snowed in!
Hi, we first visited these apartments around 29 years ago, it was great to come back as a family but would say they are looking tired now. Location good apart from the road closures. We also did the 4x4 experience which was excellent and visited the lake cafe which was also great. Another highlight was watching the swallows and barn owl. Hope to come back again another time. Many thanks. PS be handy to have some oven gloves.
All as expected from the property but could do with some maintenance in the bathroom but generally the property was in decent condition.
The flat was lovely and cool during the really hot weather. Lovely set up. The only issue was it said there was a dishwasher but there was no dishwasher. Lovely quiet relaxing holiday.
