I celebrated my birthday at the castle with friends, and it was definitely one to remember. Having the entire castle to ourselves made it feel like something out of a fairytale! Exploring the grounds at night with a hint of spookiness was definitely a highlight. Although we were unlucky with the weather and ended up stranded because the duck boats weren’t running, it didn’t bother us at all. We had the grounds all to ourselves, enjoyed a private beach for swimming, and had plenty of board games we’d brought along to keep us entertained. The stay was incredibly cosy, and Chris, the groun...more
This is a unique opportunity to stay at a museum when everyone else has gone home. We enjoyed looking round the museum during opening hours and after everyone had left, we were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The flat above the cider barn is lovely and had everything you need to have a comfortable stay. There are lovely animals in the gardens and a very lovely shop. We were offered some cider from the 2023 barrel which was a treat. The countryside is lovely, no problems with parking or driving around. We would recommend having a car if possible as it makes travel around m...more
The place makes a wonderful impression as soon as you walk in. It’s warm and cozy, truly making you feel at home. It’s equipped with everything you need to cook or prepare your daily meals. I was thrilled by the quality of the interior design; every detail was carefully chosen to create a unique experience. I will definitely come back.
Wonderful time in a unique site, amazing view, great location, nice rooftop , atypical !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a fabulous weekend at the fort and couldn’t have asked for more. The fort exceeded our expectations and provided an experience we will never forget. Idyllic location set back from passers by which makes it a perfect relaxing retreat. The facilities were excellent and catered for all our needs. I would highly recommend this Fort .
We stayed at the cottage for one night. The cottage is in a brilliant location, and really easy to get to from St Helier. It is really well furnished, and well equipped. tea, coffee, as well as soap, and washing up supplies. There is plenty of crockery and utensils available. The cottage was beautiful, and I love how it has been meticulously refurbished using reclaimed materials. Beds were comfy. Shower was really powerful. The location, next to the beach is just brilliant. We walked down the steps straight onto the beach. (We recommend the Good Egg Cafe too!!) Would thoroughly recomme...more
Another lovely stay at the fort. It had been decorated since our last visit and was therefore beautifully presented. There cannot be many places on the planet that offer such a wonderful and unique stay. We'll be back! Additionally I would like to say thankyou to the very courteous drivers of Jersey, such a refreshing difference to what we're used to at home.
Kettle didn't work properly upon our arrival &.needs replacing. Top bedroom shower was broken on arrival ( We were informed about this,by email before our stay, however ) Otherwise, it was just great! The view from the top is just stunning!
Another great stay at La Rocco tower. We were lucky with the weather. Sunset views from the top of the tower were stunning and clear skies for start gazing in the evening. Seeing quite a few shooting stars. Kayaking there and back was kept interesting with a little swell and a few waves on the beach. A top mini adventure.
We loved the chickens! the sofa it was very conformable, the beds were exquisite but the top bunk kept on creaking and one child woke up at 5 o'clock. Kids loved the TV and the bathroom was really clean, and the look of the apartment was really historic so as I was saying it was a very lovely place to stay for the week so thank you !
First time we’ve been back since the new windows etc were put in. We’ve been several times before. The furniture has been updated and it looks fresher and nicer inside. It is still very lovely to be at Barge Aground. However, It is sad that one can’t go up on the roof anymore and that the new sofabed is as uncomfortable as the previous one! Probably just a sofa bed thing! Great that there are some nice chairs to sit outside on, although on one of them the arm is broken. It is a great and unique location and it is lovely to hear the sea roar just outside the window but it does cost an awful l...more
Fantastic support from Jersey Heritage. Gorgeous location. Only issue is the main room leaks terribly when it rains and is uninhabitable.
Trudie our guide was brilliant and I would recommend her we had a brilliant time. When we arrived I noticed the crockery and cutlery were icky (they had not been cleaned properly). Brick dust had been falling down and covered the top shelf in the kitchen (If another group had been in recently then they hadn't left the tower in a good state if however a group hadn't been in then I can see the wind had pushed this in). Cutlery and large items scapulars etc were in a mess. Trudie together with another member of my party and myself spent time cleaning and arranging them where they should go so...more
This was a perfect base for laid back beach life at St Ouens. Basic camping style accommodation, but kept you dry and out of the wind at night. Public toilets just a couple of mins walk away. Great storage space for surf boards and ideal for BBQs outside watching the sunset. If you cant take your own BBQ there is a decent one on site. Huge dining table on the ground floor, very atmospheric, but you will need lots of light, so take candles and lamps. Our UK /USA guests were very impressed they had access to an 18th century martello tower, so it was a big success.
