It's only where you stay there you realise how big Elizabeth Castle is, and how many buildings are folded into the rocks and causeways (go on, guess). Walking across the causeway with the sun setting and the tide rising was incredible, and we were blessed with largely dry weather and a couple of tourists we turned around with a gentle warning that in 30 minutes they'd be stranded. We stayed during the winter close-down so had the Castle to ourselves (except for the guardien and random builders working on the new studios). But from 4pm it was silent apart from the huge variety of birds and the ...more
Great to have such a comfortable and well appointed and furnished place in a lovely setting for when we come over. You'll need a car but after that little else. It's right in the middle of the island and a great base to wake up in and come back to. There are some stairs but if you can cope with that (and the temptation of the huge barrels of cider downstairs...) you'll have a great stay.
Another wonderful stay away from the cares of the world, we escaped the island without the hassle of travel by air or sea. As always, it was very clean inside but the outside area and steps were very slippery and unsightly from a build up of pigeon droppings but I appreciate this is difficult to monitor!
This is our fourth time staying at Kemp Tower and we loved it. Grandchildren love playing and all the adults loved a good food and get together. We only had one issue with flies but I’m sure that can be rectified.
This is an extraordinary property in a stunning cliffside setting. There is a real sense of adventure in exploring the different levels and finding all the terraces and rooms in the very quirky layout. The rooms are clean, well equipped and cosy, which was really important for a visit in February. Arriving in the dark and finding large torches charged and ready for use was a thoughtful touch. The conversion of the historic property is thoughtfully done, with modern finishes and furniture complementing the different phases and rather stern military character very well but without losing the...more
The perfect location for a quiet cozy staycation. We loved the fire, although we didn’t realise there would only be given enough wood for one fire and had to pick up some more. Very clean and everything we needed for cooking was in the cupboards. Definitely recommend.
Myself and my friends absolutely loved staying in La Crete Fort, we were so lucky with the weather meaning both mornings were so bright and sunny and given the location it was just gorgeous to wake up to! The beds were comfortable and the room upstairs was incredible, the only issue we felt was that it was quite cold up there but I understand a room like that is very hard to heat and the rest of the fort was lovely and warm so we can’t complain!! Would absolutely stay here again!
Loved our three night stay Made lovely memories, tower spotless Everything we needed was available Beds very comfortable Underfloor heating a treat Views spectacular Friend and family visits super special
old farm building refurbished to high standard. If you are tall you need to duck a lot and a car is pretty essential but it's lovely staying on an old farm with such great history. Flat is comfortable, nicely finished and well equipped.
Another great stay at La Rocco tower. We were lucky with the weather. Sunset views from the top of the tower were stunning and clear skies for start gazing in the evening. Seeing quite a few shooting stars. Kayaking there and back was kept interesting with a little swell and a few waves on the beach. A top mini adventure.
Thank you for a lovely stay . The property is so well equipped. We had 2 nights of relaxation and to unwind. Pretty perfect in all ways and will be booking again soon . Thank you.
Fantastic support from Jersey Heritage. Gorgeous location. Only issue is the main room leaks terribly when it rains and is uninhabitable.
Trudie our guide was brilliant and I would recommend her we had a brilliant time. When we arrived I noticed the crockery and cutlery were icky (they had not been cleaned properly). Brick dust had been falling down and covered the top shelf in the kitchen (If another group had been in recently then they hadn't left the tower in a good state if however a group hadn't been in then I can see the wind had pushed this in). Cutlery and large items scapulars etc were in a mess. Trudie together with another member of my party and myself spent time cleaning and arranging them where they should go so...more
This was a perfect base for laid back beach life at St Ouens. Basic camping style accommodation, but kept you dry and out of the wind at night. Public toilets just a couple of mins walk away. Great storage space for surf boards and ideal for BBQs outside watching the sunset. If you cant take your own BBQ there is a decent one on site. Huge dining table on the ground floor, very atmospheric, but you will need lots of light, so take candles and lamps. Our UK /USA guests were very impressed they had access to an 18th century martello tower, so it was a big success.
